Sir, pls for God sake, can you give me the lists of community or province that are seriously in need of general farm workers, commercial bus drivers, house helpers and labourers
I look forward to hearing from you. God bless you for the information, thanks
I don’t have a list per se. Your best bet is to research each of the 11 selected communities. You can start by checking websites of the designated community economic development organization of each community.

Wow! Thank you for this quick response. As per career path, I'm a bank employee in Nigeria ("banker"wink but I don't know whether it will be easy to get a bank job over there. What does it require to work as a bank employee and are they paid well in Canada?. I have over 10 years experience.
Websites such as Glassdoor, Indeed, etc. should give you an idea of salaries. Just open your mind to the possibility of starting from entry level.

Canadian banks use different names for entry level roles such as “Customer Service Representative”, “Financial Service Representative”, “Banking Advisor”, etc. This may give you ideas for your search.

Being “paid well” is relative but note that generally, bankers here don’t get higher pay relative to other professions unlike what is obtainable in Nigeria.

Also, note that N300,000 is approximately CAD1,100 which a CSR may be making here bi-weekly smiley

Hi, landing in Quebec/using them to transit is not the issue or a problem but settling and working there is especially if you don't have their Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ – Québec Selection Certificate)

I'm not sure but has anyone who didn't have the Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ – Québec Selection Certificate) actually settled in Quebec?
If you come in under the FSW program, you can live and work anywhere in Canada, including Québec, and without a CSQ. I lived there for some months, if that helps.

Please how does one express interest to the Brandon community? I believe the economic development organization in charge is Brandon Immigration Pilot Board. Is there a link or process for sending them one's details? Pls advise.
I believe that the referenced body should be in charge but I didn’t get any link or website when I did Google search. Sorry, I am currently unable to access the email account that is linked to my Nairaland profile.

Travel › Re: Rural And Northern Immigration Pilot by 40manlappy(op):
The aim of this pilot is to support middle class jobs in rural and northern communities. Increasing levels of youth out-migration, declining fertility rates, and lower levels of immigration have drastically reduced the talent pool of these communities. The story is different in larger urban centres.

Since communities will be responsible for candidate recruitment and endorsement for permanent residence, interested candidates should start connecting with the key actors in these communities, research opportunities and prepare accordingly. This will also help to manage expectations.

If I were a candidate, by now, I would have researched which organization(s) sponsored the application of the community that I am interested in and start reaching out already e.g. Economic Development Organizations, Chambers of Commerce, Employment Agencies, the Municipality, etc., and even potential employers.

Don't forget that each community can nominate 250 candidates annualy. That may sound like a lot but pales into insignificance if you take into consideration that applicants would be applying from around the world, including from within Canada. I can tell you for free that these participating communities have already been flooded with expressions of interest and enquiries.

From my research*, Northern Ontario, where 5 of these communities are from, have skills shortages in the following occupations:

1. Personal support workers
2. Doctors
3. Skilled trades (Carpenters, Millwrights, Mechanics, Industrial Electricians, Machinists, HVAC, Ironworkers, Bricklayers, Electricians, Fitter/Welders and Plumbers)
4. Truck drivers
5. Retail trade personnel
6. Hospitality and tourism
7. Nurses

Please note that the above list is not intended to be exhaustive and labour needs can vary from one community to another.
NB: I will try to update the list from time to time
Travel › Rural And Northern Immigration Pilot by 40manlappy(op):
About the pilot
The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot is a community-driven program. It’s designed to spread the benefits of economic immigration to smaller communities by creating a path to permanent residence for skilled foreign workers who want to work and live in 1 of the participating communities.

The communities participating in the pilot are:

North Bay, ON
Sudbury, ON
Timmins, ON
Sault St. Marie, ON
Thunder Bay, ON
Brandon, MB
Rhineland/Plum Coulee /Gretna/Altona, MB
Moose Jaw, SK
Claresholm, AB
Vernon, BC
West Kootenay (Trail, Castlegar, Rossland, Nelson), BC

About the process
As a candidate, you need to find a job with an employer in 1 of the participating communities.

If a community endorses you and you’re successful in applying for permanent residence, you’ll then move there to work and live.

The application process for eligible candidates will begin as early as fall 2019. IRCC will provide more information at that time, including:

-details about who can apply
-what documents you need for your application

The attached step-by-step guide shows how the complete application process will work. Final details will be provided in fall 2019.

Travel › Canadian College Signs Education Agreement With Nigeria by 40manlappy(op):
The city of North Bay, Ontario will be home to as many as 200 new students from Nigeria, with close to 70 arriving as soon as this summer.

The new influx of international students comes thanks to a 20-year training agreement signed between Canadore College and Nigeria’s MiST EDUCare Canada Ltd.

The first phase of students will take nursing and respiratory therapy programs with the majority of students eventually using academic space within a new pharmaceutical plant which will be built in the city by 2021.

“Everybody is excited, they just cannot wait,” said professor James Makinde, President and CEO of MiST EDUCare Canada Ltd., a division of World Care Canada about the Nigerian students who will be attending Canadore College.

“Today is a very important day in the development of global collaborations between our two great countries, Nigeria and Canada, as MiST and Canadore College jointly open up new opportunities in healthcare and technology capacity building.”

Aside from health care, Makinde says the groups have also begun to explore opportunities in areas of media, aviation, and advanced manufacturing.

Meetings with college officials this week also included provisions for outbound student and faculty exchanges.

And if this works out, 200 may be a small number compared to how many Makinde believes could come to get their education at Canadore College here in North Bay.

“Nigeria has the capacity to send as many students as Canadore College can take,” he said.

George Burton, president and CEO of Canadore College, who signed the agreement on behalf of Canadore College, says this is part of the benefits of what they hope the Village project will bring to Canadore College.

“This is kind of what we envisioned that this would be a springboard for other things to spin off,” said Burton.

“These partnerships bring us closer to connecting people, education and employment through applied learning, entrepreneurship, leadership and innovation. These opportunities will help our community to diversify, grow and thrive over the long haul.”
