Hi, I want to advise you because I am a into Oil and Gas and I own a few trucks. By the way, I was a banker too who quit banking and went into business, hustling from the scratch, hiring trucks from others to deliver products until I started buying my own trucks one after the other.

Bros

Thank God for the day He gave you this wisdom. Thank Him once again. Contrary to what people said that you should do it for a while bla bla....dont do it for a while. Keep your chemistry certificate far far away and concentrate on this. I can confirm to you that Nigeria has lots of mechanics but lack truck mechanics that are really really good. Most are illiterates who are unreliable and unstable. I will advise you to pick specific areas of truck engines and specialise on it. Maybe Injectors and Turbos, then ask around for truck brands that have few mechanics. Then learn about recent trucks. from 2005 model upward

You can also learn about electricals of trucks, then get diagnostic machines with time. These are things we lack. i can authoritatively tell you that I have had to call mechanic all the way from kaduna to go to Warri road to fix my truck, from Suleja to Port harcourt and some other crazy distances because we couldnt find reliable people. I can also tell you that I have a friend in Abuja who went into diesel engine repairs as a graduate. Because he is a graduate, he does his things differently. You will always see him browsing, learning new techniques online, embracing new engines that all those old and illiterate mechanics run away from, because theyre "complicated". This my friend, a "bloody mechanic" has houses inside Abuja and he drives the choicest of cars. He is richer than most of his clients, and he is a young guy. In his thirties

I can give you more instances. dont hesitate bro. go for it.

Thank you mjbaba for the kind words and encouragement.

I really would appreciate it if you can link me up or help me with any referral or materials.

I'm already a Forex trader.

I repeat again, Top Akara sellers earn more than most civil servants.

Very very true - i did a workshop recently and took a survey of akara, masa, kunu, tomotoe, etc sellers and guess what? None makes less than 5k in about 4-5hrs of business everyday. Do the maths at 5k she makes 120k/month.
Now let's compare this akara seller who makes 5k per 5hrs with a banker that earns 150k per month:

A. Banker that earns 150k per month:
a) Work hrs in a month is 8hrs per day × 5days x 4 weeks in a month = 160hrs
b) Earning per month = 150k
Earning per hour = N937

B. Akara seller that makes 5k per 5hrs:
a) work hours per month is 5hrs per day x 6days x 4 weeks in a month = 120hrs
b) Earning per month = 5k per day x 6days x 4 weeks = N120,000
Earning per hour = N1,000

So if you compare these two you see that the akara seller does better and has more time to herself than the Gorgeous banker that must sell other things to keep afloat.

Any graduate earning less than 200k/month salary is only wasting his/her time making someone rich while you remain poor all your work life. Get your ass up do something for yourself.

Correct bro.

And bankers actually work 10 hours per day because they don't dismiss by 4:00pm and sometimes some of them work on Saturdays n Sundays.

So technically, Bankers earn about 580 naira per hour...........far less than an Akara seller...

Every attempt of hustle in this world is a risk and likely to have some atom of regret possibility.

You aren't throwing your certificate, you are going for the available since the desirable is not available, while you indulge in the apprentice work, you'll still be looking for jobs or a fellow to partner and start a chemical related business since that's your field.

I understand you, I sure do, but you have to get something doing at the moment to avoid negative mindset and influence from friends.

Destiny can only be delayed, but can't be denied

First bolden: Everything about and around us is risk - the air u breathe in is a risk (it may contain hydrogen sulphide), thr water you drink may contain poison, same for the foods u eat, the vehicle you enter, everything is lace with risks. THE RISK TAKERS ARE DOES WHO MAY SUCCEED.

We have two options;
1) Do not take risk and have only one outcome - FAIL vs
2) Take risk and have two possible outcomes- FAIL OR SUCCEED.

which option will you rather take?

On the second bolded, you can destroy your destiny. Go sit down n do nothing- no go school, no work, no do business, no do anything n tell me how you can achieve your destiny.

I rest my case.

Sir, in search for a workshop wherer i could apply, I was made to understand that learning from road-side mechanics won't do me much good.
I was advised to look for training centers around to be better equip me.

Please do you know of any recognised training centers for truck/diesel mechanic? Kind assist me with any info you have.

For you to have read industrial chemistry and looking for job is a shame. This is a handy course for chemical innovations. Must you earn a salary. Look at the Chemical business Industry, look at products that can be made from safe chemicals. That's an handwork.

Science and Engineering graduates shouldn't be looking for jobs up and down. If you can't get one, create one

The dullest comments so far, as if it's not money you use to create jobs...do you know how much it cost to make some chemicals, minus the equipments? Laboratories services and technical know how.?? Where will a jobless graduate get the funds to finance such adventure? If you have no reasonable comments to make u can just scroll pass or simply read and learn from matured minds.

Can you see that you think from your anus. Must you do it big. Obviously your focus was I graduate and get a job and not I graduate and contribute. Do they even have the idea of what they want to do other than create job. There are many of these students who studied abroad came back and yet looking for job. If they can go study abroad on their own they can create something .
So what Idea or invention have you seen from those students.

If you really have the interest go for it, my husband has MSc in bio-chemistry but is mechanic work that is putting food on our table. He did a course online about automatic gear, it cost about 25k, and he also learn from the road side for 3month, while learning he downloaded cars manual so before working on any car he goes through the manual and have scanning tools. It's very tedious but it pays well.

I have a degree in biochemistry also..Just finished NYSC... I have always loved this MECHANIC THING SINCE... I'll go and make enquiries about how to be one

Wow, what a great list of expressing appreciation, I am impressed! Now I want to share one interesting story. I hope it will be interesting for you. A few months ago, I was staying at my friend's house. He went out to buy cigarettes. Would you imagine my astonishment when he called and said that he has lost his keys? He has an automatic defense system at his house building, so it was impossible to open even the window. Then he decided to call a local locksmith near me and asked them to send a specialist. We didn't need to wait for a long time before he arrived. I still don't believe in it, but he has unlocked the house within ten minutes. Do you know what facilities and techniques are they using?
