189 may be far fetched if you don’t are a high score. 491 may be available too.
Yes, you can add your partner if you are married. They can also add English test to your point.
Only Queensland require POf and the process can take between 9 months to 3 years depending on how lucky you are.
Hello, I'm assessing with CAANZ, is the assessment type combined qualification and skilled assessment only?

Thanks.

Hi all,
Is there anyone who can advise possible options in Australia for a Nigerian trained medical doctor (the person has risen to consultant nephrologist with about 14 years experience)?
For doctors, migrating to Australia is quite different. We have to obtain Australia Medical licence before anything.
There are 3 pathways to working in Australia as a doctor.
1. Standard pathway: Most for medical officers or people who are yet to do housemanship. You take the AMC MCQ and OSCE exam and enter FY1/FY2 which is equivalent to Housejob. Those who are have done housejobs or already working like me have to go through the standard pathway.

2. Competent authority pathway: For those who are already licenced and have worked more than 2yrs in US/UK/Canada, etc. They can easily transfer without having to take any exams.

3. Specialist recognition pathway: for fellows and consultants from different countries who have worked at least 2/3yrs as a consultant outside Australia. They don't have to have write exams. If AMC doesn't feel satisfied (Usually common with Consultant who didn't get their training in US/UK/Ireland, etc) they'd place the candidate under consultant supervision (In this case, a consultant nephrologist for a year in Australia who would then approve of your training before being allowed to work independently as a consultant. Most times it goes so well.
Some people opt for other options like seeking available spots in rural areas that are desperate for specialists of which they don't need to be under anyone's supervision.

Meanwhile, the best way to go about this is to check the Australian Medical Council (AMC) about your options and which one bests suits you. At consultant level, the best way to go is through the specialist pathway as you are already a consultant here in Nigeria or wherever.
All you need to do is;
1. You register and create your portfolio on the AMC portal (Costs 640AUD Thats about #400,000)
2. Submit all the requirements as requested on the AMC portal
3. Verify your credentials via EPIC/ECFMG (Consultants/those going through specialist pathway may not need this. I'm not sure please find out)
4. Then select Specialist Pathway, then the Royal Australasian College of Physicians as your preferred college.
5. When it all goes well, you can apply for places you'd like to work as a specialist.

Everything will work out fine for you as a Doctor. After getting offers, you can proceed to apply for visa or come back here to go through the PR route with your family if you choose to. Most people don't wait for the PR as it takes time.

This video would help.

You don't need a PGDE, you will only need to attach your NCE together with your degree. The transcripts will capture your NCE as mode of admission, you need your NCE transcript as well.
Flourish98:
Hello gurus in the house!

I will appreciate an explanation and further clarification as regards the skills assessment of teachers by AITSL, because I am stuck on my findings/research and do not know how else to proceed.

Firstly, I have two certificates in Business Education as a Secondary school teacher; NCE and B.Sc(Ed), with the latter from UNN, however, I have what I fear might be a loophole, as my B.Sc(Ed) which is a double honors certificate was undergone for a period of 3 years, which stemmed as a result of having a prior NCE certification, which was also studied for a period of 3 years.

Now, my questions:
•Will I be able to assess my qualifications for a positive response with AITSL, using my B.Sc(Ed) which was studied for 3 years, cos my transcript actually shows my years of study as 3 years as against 4? Coupled with the factors of AQF and the Tier 1 and 2 grading system, do I tend to stand a chance?

•Or, will I have to upload both the transcripts of my NCE and B.Sc(Ed), to make it up for the missing one year?

•Or, should I simply undergo a PGDE programme, to augment my B.Sc(Ed), and cover up for the loophole?

I haven't written the English proficiency test (IELTS), however I am willing to give it a shot and I am optimistic that I will scale through.

I also have over 3 years experience as a teacher, post-graduation.

If there's any one who's had an experience of this or know someone with a first-hand information as regards this matter, I will really appreciate your help and advice.

Please a question.
"Would the client be prepared to live outside an Australia capital city?"
What would be the best response applying for an EOI for 190?

For doctors on the plab pathway dont apply to the Uk visa application center on the Island or VI. CHOOSE IKEJA. OR YOU WILL PAY UP TO 150K EXTRA.

Good day everyone.

Please a friend has HND in Chemistry. I checked and saw that the body responsible for assessment is Vocational Education and Training Assess (VETASSESS) and in their website they mentioned BSc as a qualification for assessment. Does that mean HND grads cant apply?

Please someone should put me through. I am a pharmacist. Aside from migrating to Aus as a pharmacist, I heard I could migrate as a pharmacy technician but going through the VETASSES website I found that having employment as a pharmacist and working in that capacity will not return a positive assessment.

See the attached. Thank you

After much waiting, I finally received my grant this morning 19th Feb 2024 (189) on 85 points. It's been quite the journey and I am sharing a breakdown of my process so those waiting can keep hope alive. smiley

February 2019 - Made the decision to migrate to Australia (at this time I already had IELTS - Proficient so giving me 10 points)

December 2019 - Started putting my documentation together to assess as an ICT business analyst with ACS. I requested experience verification from my old employer which I got with no stress. However, my employer as at 2019 was not open to doing this so I had to go the statutory declaration route. Fortunately, a senior colleague agreed to help me with this so I was able to submit an application to ACS.

January 2020 - Received feedback from ACS; my experience with the employer I had to use statutory declaration for was assessed insufficient so I did not get any points for this, which meant I lost points.

March 2020 - I requested a review and provided additional supporting documentation. I encountered some difficulty at this stage because even though I provided my colleague's employment letter, staff ID and most recent promotion letter (on letterhead paper), ACS said I hadn't done enough undecided. So I had to resort to extraordinary measures. Luckily, the senior colleague who provided me with a statutory declaration has a heavy internet footprint that proved he was a staff of my organisation at the time so I provided web pages, website links and even a screenshot of his email account on our official outlook that also showed the current date at the time. I also prayed and believed God for favour.

April 2020 - I received a full positive assessment from ACS which meant I got the maximum points for work experience. Since I had all the requirements for lodging an EOI, I went ahead to lodge a single application for 189 and selected several states. Of course because of COVID-19 restrictions, the waiting game proper started.

September 2020 - Sat for PTE because my IELTS expired in August 2020. I scored 90 across speaking, writing, listening and reading so this pushed my English to Superior netting me maximum points. Updated my EOI with this result and continued waiting.

October 2021 - After consulting on this forum, I created a single EOI for SA (189, 190, 491) and continued waiting.

February 2022 - I created another EOI, this time for NSW (189, 190, 491) and continued waiting.

April 2022 - The EOI I created in April 2020 expired. My ACS skills assessment also expired so I had to apply for a fresh one in June 2022.

July 2022 - Received updated ACS skills assessment.

August 2022 - Victoria opened up so I created and lodged an EOI and continued waiting. Also placed a registration of interest (ROI) with Victoria but was not selected in the invitation rounds for August, September, October and November 2022. I was a bit discouraged at this point but was left with no other option than to continue waiting.

December 2022 - Received an invitation to apply for 189 on two EOIs (NSW and SA). This was a miracle because by January 2023 I would be turning a new age that would have reduced my total points to 10. Also, the points I had were the minimum points scored for my occupation in the December 2022 invitation round. So this was truly a miracle for me.

January & February 2023 - Did my medicals and submitted my application for the 189. Waiting game resumed.

October 2023 - I received a notification that my application was being assessed.

February 2024 - Grant received. Halleluyah! grin

Hello learned colleagues,

Please i have a question; Kindly respond if you have knowledge on it.

Can one claim employment points at the point of EOI;
1- He didn't assess employment with EA
2- The years of experience are in a different aspect other than the assessed occupation(for instance, assessed metallurgist and has sales engineering experience)

Please engineers, respond

Please one more question,
If the applicant has 3 years experience in the nominated occupation as far back as 10 years, while the remaining experience is in another occupation, can he claim for 3 years only at the point of EOI?
