meanwhile having thought about this some more i decided to check my phone (i use a Note) i can mount my phone this way

go to
Menu -> Settings -> Wireless and network -> USB utilities

2. Click on Connect Storage to PC

3. Connect the USB cable to your pc.

4. Click on Connect USB storage

5. Use your file manager to install/copy/paste.

6. Once finished, click on Disconnect storage from PC to disconnect and unmount drive from Ubuntu

is this not present on S3?

Hunh? thats a strange one!!

here i am complaining about MTP connection and yours wont even connect

i dunno. id recommend a flash but that prolly wont work.
do u have MTP related packages installed on ur box? use synaptic to check

meanwhile try this

$ sudo apt-get install mtp-tools mtpfs

$ mkdir phone

Connect phone, set usb mode to MTP

$ sudo mtpfs -o allow_other phone

Trying to do anything with the new filesystem right now will take a minute or so, just be patient...

Finally, this should allow you to access your phone and do whatever.

remember to do this to remove

$ sudo umount phone

works. just uncheck data also under mobile networks before starting

one quirk i found, normally it shows up the 3G symbol when active, kinda like fooling your phone into thinking you are on 3G.

but for some reason im yet to understand, there are times its connected but wont bring out the symbol.
on my phone at such times some apps (most) work, whilst some will keep telling you there is no data. all Gapps and my browsers work fine sha, but like my torrent app wont work, and some other ones. im trying to figure out why

GN 2 and GN 1 are not any different in size.

they eliminated some of the bezel. the larger screen fits in the same casing.

i most heartily advise you buy a flip cover instead of any rubber casing. you are guaranteed the screen and body will be in factory condition for all the time u will use it. it just makes sense with the flip cover.

when i got my one, i needed it just to give the phone some bulk, it was waay too thin at that size for my liking, it felt like it could break into two grin grin grin grin grin

choi, this is oppression, imma gonna have to start thinking abt the two after christmas, prices likely to drop then!!

samir101ng: Interesting thread guys !!! grin grin

Care to post any screenshots of the phone and internal wallpapers ??

A review would be nice too for prospective buyers @*Ileke-Idi & @chick2pimp smiley smiley
already removed most of my wallpapers, running stock tho, but as usual its tweaked, and i sure dont run touchwiz no more wink wink

what there to review, they getting it today!!

[size=14pt]
There was a moment about five minutes from the end of Chelsea's game against Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday night that rather summed up Fernando Torres's last couple of years.

Eden Hazard picked up the ball just in the Shakhtar half, looked up and saw Torres poised to make a run through the middle. Hazard looked down for a fraction of a second, so as to make sure he kicked the ball not the turf, or his own foot, or himself in the face, then played a nicely weighted pass into the path of Torres's run.

The problem was that Torres didn't make the run. He stopped. Not for long - he just hesitated, stuttered his run - but it was enough. The chance was gone, and at that point it looked like Chelsea would have to settle for what would actually have been a creditable draw against an excellent side.

That's the problem with Torres. Watching him play, there aren't massive individual holes in his game. It's just little things, like that non-run, and the clumsiness of touch, and the shots that are aimed two yards inside the post instead of one, that combine to make him look like a shell of the player he was in his 2008/9 pomp. Torres used to be absolutely brilliant at finding just enough space and time for himself to create a goal - a shuffle here, a shimmy there and the ball would be in the net before the defence could react. Not these days - the shuffle has become a shamble, and although he did score against Shakhtar, that was down to industry rather than inspiration.

And at the moment, it's Torres that is stopping Chelsea from being a virtually unstoppable force. Sure, the defence is rather shaky, particularly (but not exclusively) when John Terry is absent, with Gary Cahill contributing as many basic errors as the more scapegoatable (it's a word) David Luiz, but their attack is a step away from being incredible.

For behind Torres, the skill and creativity Chelsea have is terrifying. There was a spell in the first half, just after Oscar's goal, when they looked as good as anything this great Barcelona team have done in the past few years. The Brazilian, Juan Mata and Eden Hazard buzzed around, interchanging passes and taking it in turns to perform outrageous feats of skill and defence-splitters. They didn't keep it up for quite long enough, but they're a young bunch who have time stretching out gloriously in front of them.

However, the man in front of them is currently nowhere near their standard. Whoever was on co-commentary duties for Sky said at one point that Torres is 'out of sorts', which is a strange comment because it implies a temporary state, rather than one that has been around for nearly two years. With a proper striker (and one assumes that a bid for Falcao, maybe even including Torres, is inevitable) then this Chelsea could be a magnificent team.

At present, they're a flawed side, which in many ways is more fun. Perfection is difficult to warm to, and as Sarah Winterburn wrote a couple of weeks ago, this vulnerable Chelsea team is pretty good to watch for various reasons, not least that they're imperfect.

Try fbreader or aldiko

Haven't gone beyond that two but I also haven't tried chm files with them

@all I discovered something today esp if u going to flash jellybean. Format or SD card and copy just the ROM and modem on it.

Wen returning files to it, make sure u copy just the files up need like mp3 etc. The cruft and stuff from old ROMs will give us issues otherwise

I discovered I had tonnes of thumbnails and stuff on my card and it was not playing nice with jellybean at all, maxing the CPU cos d media scanner service was going crazy.

Its a good tip for any version of android I guess.

PhonesRe: RIM/BBM What-if-blackberry-messenger-had-gone-cross-platform by 4llerbuntu(op): 12:34pm On Nov 02, 2012
Going further, with the move from java to QNX, its quite apparent that the ability to build proper apps that can rival other platforms will erode this supposed "advantage"

it is already speculated that RIM will drop this model of piping data along with access to their servers. understandable because if you intend to allow 3rd party devs to support your platform with IOS or Android quality apps, the data consumption levels will drastically increase.

for example whatsapp provides data counters for its use so u can track it. a whole day of constant messaging will not consume 1 MB, similar i guess to what goes on with BBM.

Now if you no longer have the ability to pay 1,500 and use data freely as the average consumption rates skyrocket, i suppose this talk of BB being the best will die no? if i remember correctly at the onset, data was not free on Nigerian networks too. it was competition that made them open the taps guessing that 1 out of 20 users are going to top the usage anyway. the other 19 pay for that 1 persons useage too.

im sure u are aware that at 1,500 the networks are still making a killing from subscriptions

OP Let me ask you a simple question in English: Why do you love BBM to the extent of wanting it cross-platform ?
.
.
.
You see, you cant respond. If you wanna eat frog, get to the pond.
weird way of asking question. was i supposed to answer in the middle of ur post?

anyway, clearly u dont seem to get the drift.

with the service being exclusive, they are heamorraghing.

u guys say without it they would be dead.

basically what we can deduce is that either way they are dying no?

the point is NOT to bash the BB/RIM, its to point out the folly in their business model and ideas. if with the exclusives they cannot survive, why not think outside the box?

what says they cannot have a subscription service for BBM outside of a BB even priced higher than the competition? u say the competition is cheaper.. THAT MEANS THE PRODUCT IS NOT AS GOOD AS U/RIM THINK IT IS!!!

Iphones are like double the prices of other phones. they sell more without having functions better than the competition! thats quality!

what about crippling some features of the cross platform versions?

u see whether or not BBM is crossplatform, people will IM, the point is why let them IM outside of your control?

U think Mindshare is not worth that much hunh? then u dont know biz. do u know why people will still buy a nokia tomorrow? nokia stayed around even by making 3k phones. NOBODY THINKS IM AND THINKS BBM SOLELY ANYMORE

Worst of all, the little bird whispers say that BB10 is in testing and that it is mostly crappy. which is normal for a 1.0 release, but unfortunately will spell doom for RIM. see you in 2013 when either Apple or Google Buys up RIM
PhonesRe: RIM/BBM What-if-blackberry-messenger-had-gone-cross-platform by 4llerbuntu(op): 12:15pm On Nov 02, 2012
LMAO

in other words BB are the best because of

1. POVERTY: its cheaper to use as you only pay 1500 per month and the devices themselves are basically incapable of actually using the internet properly.

2. GREED: for those who believe a phone is the appropriate medium for downloading large movies and applications for other devices.

For all the talk of compression, i believe its mostly BS. its the illiterate way of interpreting what the RIM service is like.

if you want to download a 100 MB file, it will not magically transform into a 50 MB file on a BB. if you had the means to check your consumption, i think you will quickly discover that it will be the same 100 MB!!!

there is no full featured capable browser on Blackberries. The BB browser itself is the equivalent of the browsers found in S40 phone from 5 years ago. the alternatives are Opera mini and Ucweb etc also browsers that encompass major compression tech themselves.

how can u consume data when your browser is not capable of giving you a proper web experience?

likewise most of the other applications on it. The ones that dont natively support compression, consume data properly. i know because i used a BB till like a month ago, and on airtel you can actually check your bundled dataplan

why are arsenal fans unneccessarily bitchy and vindictive?

is there not a player u folks will let go? at the match all attention will be focused on the rat and rooney will score 4, believe me the attitude and atmosphere from the fans permeates to the players.

worse still is the fact that the guy will kuku still score as per customary things.

abeg.

tho truly if the chap had any respect for arsenal he would have gone abroad and not to a rival, but then if all those skanks in city did it, why not him too.?

bottomline is, you cats need to move on. you should be more worried as to where the goals will come from in the league. last 3 games we scored how many?
