@ Tnot, am in lagos. i was gonna tell u to come over to get a cd from me, but mahn sokoto? thats far.

cant u download it? no internet fast enuf there? i know a guy here on NL who stays in sokoto and does speed shots contests o grin grin

@ lynx, ok. thats nice

well dont get ur hopes up about unity. the real shizzle is in 11.04 alpha users. they get the real desktop as it progresses. its not available in a repo, at least that i know of. unless u want to add 11.04 repos to ur machine, whereupon u risk breakage

its different from the normal unity which is the one for netbooks

the unity 2D is a fork to ensure the desktop works on lightweight systems, its waay behind unity 3D in terms of features but accessible via repos
u can grab 2D to se, but dont be disappointed when its kinda not too fine, for now grin grin grin grin
Computers › Re: Ubuntu Linux by 4llerbuntu(m): 7:28am On Mar 03, 2011
@ lynx, u don turn don dada finally o.

hmmn, does that thing come automagically recognised? the modem i mean.

anyway, im not using the netbook desktop, thats unity 2D for low powered gpu. its available in a repo which is why i tried it. funny thing is after 2 days was getting used to that new bar.

its still buggy sha, so i returned to my normal desktop.
u know seeing ur desktop is kinda weird, i have not used a normal desktop layout with two bars like that since i installed 10.04!!!
my desktops are pimped, just one bar, global menu, docky below etc.

i fink the new look they pushing is a good idea with hindsight, am tired of the whole old look. the ish is to choose btw gnome and unity and from wat am seeing, without canonical's guidance, gnome is going to the dogs gradually, 3 yrs development and see where they are, unity is just 3 months development and they are close to a release

@Tnot, where do u reside?

my ish is dt for the CL, the ability is there, but folks like mou just seem to have this mental advantage over monseuir wenger. can he apply the neccessary mental psyching for a game that important?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Posts Financial Loss After Wembley Defeat by 4llerbuntu(m): 4:38pm On Mar 02, 2011
@ denzel, timely judicious and topical to-the-point posts sparingly done cannot be equated to the consistent, obssessive/compulsive tripe issued against arsenal by these stalkers

besides ur missing one important fact, switch is a confirmed chelsea hater, for me u folks are just light entertainment of a ribald nature, i even cheered when u beat the scummies!!!!

lol plus i dont post regularly on any enemy club thread, but chelsea this season, how can anyone miss the fun
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Posts Financial Loss After Wembley Defeat by 4llerbuntu(m): 3:17pm On Mar 02, 2011
sigh. broda ile okan, e maa wo mi o, i am allergic to dog bites.

and quite frankly u perhaps need to understand that the most important thing in ur lives is arsenal, check ur posts and compare the amount u made discussing with the one on ur pathetic clubs. see the picture? is there even anything u spend time on more than arsenal? u watch arsenal matches religiously, follow arsenal blogs, sites, know detailed info, etc on arsenal.

interpret the data urself, someone likw dk spends 90% of his nl time on arsenal thread discussing arsenal, u have just done 3 pages on this same issue, na wetin? lol, SMH

i feel sorry for u pple, u even watch more arsenal stuff than wenger sef. chei, see obsession.

sorry ehn, i no u pained abt the lack of trophy, we will win u many now onwards eh
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (A New Strength, A New Hope). by 4llerbuntu(m): 3:05pm On Mar 02, 2011
yup. barca aside, if we had to face say madrid @ the semis, do we have the mental fortitude for it and i mean managerial wise? lets see sha.

wat i find even more annoying now is that after sunderland we dont get to play prem footy for weeks! so utd could drop six points and we wont have the luxury of psychological boost overhauling them would bring for weeks. anyway, long may they blip and would it not be fantastic to confirm the title against them at emirates?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Posts Financial Loss After Wembley Defeat by 4llerbuntu(m): 2:58pm On Mar 02, 2011
rate at which all these donkeys and monkeys keep braying and screaming 6 yrs is worrisome. it clearly is the most important thing in ur miserable lives, and u folks appear more eager for it to end huh
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Posts Financial Loss After Wembley Defeat by 4llerbuntu(m): 1:14pm On Mar 02, 2011
erm lets see if this makes sense.

in the last 5 years, man utd have the largest stadium with consistent attendances which equal large profits

in the same period man utd have made such windfalls such as 80 mill from c. ronaldo sale

in the same period, man utd have entered new lucrative sponsorship deals earning them even more money than most clubs around

in the same period man utd has won trophies and made inroads in comps that earned then large sums of money

man utd is arguably the biggest brand name in the premier league with money spinners world over

in this same period man utd has consistently declared gargantuan losses running close 500 mill plus or more (dont have the latest figures)

at the present time man utd's accounts are in the red despite their best efforts at remedying that situation, such that talk of acquiring another set of sugar daddies is being floated

Arsenal on the other hand as admitted and publicly known has

embarked on large projects in addition to the football business with monies borrowed and secured with long term deals

arsenal has sponsorship agreements that they are tied into long term to support their expenditures in the projects like stadium development and estate development.

arsenal is not known to be a commercial brand in the leagues of man utd and madrid etc and as such do not make as much from those areas as utd

arsenal has also not had the benefit of large cash injections from winning competitions or crazy 80 million sales in this same period

arsenal do not and have not had sugar daddies

in short, Arsenal do not make as much money as man utd, Arsenal also have serious obligations which further hamper their ability to make more money, yet owe far less and have better financials

arsenal in the past five years have somewhat declared profits and even going by the poster's tenous assertions have a half year financial account showing debt that amounts to a fraction of what utd owe

@ poster, lets just say you will never ever make a career out of financial knowledge, and frankly, i advise you immediately employ an adviser for the pennies in your pocket, you may discover why u still are not a millionaire all this while grin grin

you mean that you think arsenal is in a bad shape or worse than utd? should in case you are thinking DK and Sauron are in agreement with you, i can assure u, they simply have nothing better to do and are yarning their usual opata, they know better

AND FOR THE RECORD, AM GLAD YOU SAY UR NO LONGER A GUNNER, IF U EVER REALLY WERE ANYWAY, we like our fans smarter grin grin grin grin grin
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (A New Strength, A New Hope). by 4llerbuntu(m): 12:21pm On Mar 02, 2011
personally, i have crossed out the CL.

for me thats a bridge too far, the only feasible way i see to get past that is a goalless draw or a scoring draw, frankly, except messi and xavi cop injuries before the match, thats mission impossible.

or do you see the team defending against barca for 90 mins resolutely? even last terms inter didnt grin and as for the open yoyo attack game, @ camp nou, man u come up short all the time o.

as someone said, far more pressing is the FA cup and the league. how i wish i could actually beat my chest and say categorically that we will take advantage of utd's loss.
alas, monsieur bartender and cham dont seem to see the vision

the FA is my last hope, if we get past utd, one off game, we will probably end up at wembley again. hopefully this time around, wenger will not suffer a relapse and remove arshavin for his two hopeless giraffes.

the weekend was sad, but we got to move forward, better this than losing at the first hurdle and having to watch other teams get thru 6 matches to a cup final. u always rooting for their opponents, they keep winning, u keep hating the events grin grin grin grin grin grin
Computers › Re: Ubuntu Linux by 4llerbuntu(m): 9:12am On Mar 02, 2011
@ lynx, so u still dey for NL? how naw.

come u running Alpha 11.04? haa home of the brave!! grin grin grin grin my oga i wan be like u o!!

@ goodmuyis, i almost thot u was me good pal muyisco, anyways welcome to the thread, tho u may actually be the youngest ubuntu user here thereabouts grin grin grin

@ lynx, thou shalt not try any full distro on that dinosaur o, i dont want to hear about a fire incident o (very likely grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin)

anyways, so gist me about 11.04, whats it been like? there was a slew of updates yesterday for it too so u may wanna update and see.

have u heard the new move from gnome 3 crew? they removed the minimise and maximise buttons shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked

anyways they have since restricted their test audience to gurus, since u have to compile the damn thing to use it, and that thing is pretty much hit and miss for now
but frankly, i think its not a good move, most folks grew up conditioned to those buttons, as of now most people dont even use the multiple desktops mush less the workspaces idea.

the next month is gonna be interesting for we siddon look folks grin

Computers › Re: Ubuntu Linux by 4llerbuntu(m): 4:19am On Mar 01, 2011
err i really dunno o. guess its cos its new and unfinished but the design just looks out of place for a full blown computer, however that being said, aint NOBODY gonna say this looks like windows, and im willing to bet that windows for tablets is gonna copy this thing.

thats said, i guess its fine for a netbook or a slate, lets see what the finished thing is besides this is the 2D desktop, i read that there is supposed to be the main 3D desktop that looks exactly like this one too but functions a bit different and has more eyecandy and effects ( it sure could do with effects)

what i find most jarring for now is the file manager. the design is all smooth and pretty till u open the file manager and u get the same old nautilus look! had to change my background to black to compensate and i stil havent figured out how to change the icon set. i think they need to redesign the nautilus look to look exactly the same or at least integrate better with the menu and workspaces look.

that being said, i may be wrong because all iv done is install the 2D desktop on my already pimped gnome and from past desktops addition experience, they always jar themselves. all in all its not bad, not bad at all and definitely adds identity. this looks nothing like any other os. and somebody pls tell mint crew to get rid of that windows like menu they use

aaha now we see what the mint team will do, shebi they have been making mouth and insulting canonical, let the mumus build their own desktop now or they will keep maintaining gnome 2, they think modifying an already made desktop/os is a sign of genius, woe betide them if they ever come out with unity desktop, i will make life unbearable for them on that their site, ingrates

^^^^ I sympathetically share that notion with you. Winning the Milk cup is
deservedly worth a 5 year drought after-all. Haba!!
oh ok, now its JUST the milk cup eh?

spare urself the embarassment.

soon, it will be just the prem, then just the Champs, then it will be just one league title, then just 2 trophies outta 4, then just 4 trophies.

mumus

and i also guess when ur dumb club won the milk cup after 50 years and 300 million investment in the squad it was just milk cup then eh? just listen to your arse dribble words like a tap.

not ur fault sha, the beating is taking a toll, senility is apparent
