all this argument over nothing. this no fly resolution is too late. all that is left to the rebels are two cities/towns at an extreme part of the country, with the roads leading to them wide open. gaddafi already started air raids on benghazi yesterday afternoon. by now the defences are gone and the army will walk in by this evening. too bad for those folks sha. its crazy how propaganda works, you need to see the shots of demonstrators in the capital city yesterday hailing and showing support for gaddafi, you would do a double take and ask if this was the same country that a week ago was hustling to remove the bagger the power of the media!! ![]() its unfortunate. i am amazed that the fellow thinks nothing of shelling his own subjects into submission, the same people he is ruling!! ![]() if it was limited to the rebel soldiers, i could understand, but there was no such discrimination. there is a major square in the capital where the rebels had a standoff for days trying to keep the protest up, by the time the govt troops took the place and reporters were able to enter, there were no signs of casualities which undoubtedly were in large numbers in that fight, and signs that something had been buried in large trenches in that square!!!! |
good, the subscription here is cheaper than SA. but is the volume in SA equal or even near to that in nigeria? abi economies of scale no get reference in pricing? because person wey hear una talk naw, go dey think say una be angels in disguise. anyway, it wont deter your numerous fans from still paying up, even if the prices are upped to 20k per month, max u will lose is 3 percent of your customers. |
![]() waddya know pretty useful at times. how mush for the nook? truth be told not digging tablets right now. dat thing got ports and useful batteries? |
http://mohammadag.xceleo.org/public/NITUbuntu/ubunturootfs.tar.bz2 Quick instructions, the instructions are based on gparted, 1. Connect the N900 to a PC running linux (Live CDs/Virtual machines will suffice). 2. Use gparted to partition the N900's MicroSD card, the image is 2.3GBs uncompressed, so you'll need at least 2.5GBs to run Ubuntu (3GBs if you want extra space for /home or apps). 3. Unpack the tar.bz2 into the root of the partition, an easy way to do this would be to use file-roller, the default archive manager in Ubuntu. 4. Disconnect the N900 from your PC. 5. Open terminal, type ls /dev/mmcblk1* to see the partitions on your MicroSD. Assuming your partition is /dev/mmcblk1p2, Code: mkdir -p /mnt/ubuntu && mount /dev/mmcblk1p2 /mnt/ubuntu Code: cp -r /lib/modules/* /mnt/ubuntu/lib/modules/ cp /lib/firmware/* /mnt/ubuntu/lib/firmware/ chroot /mnt/ubuntu /bin/bash useradd -m <replace with your username here> (e.g useradd -m mohammad) # fill in details as you wish. visudo # Edit the file and add your username to sudoers using visudo # Example (replace my username with yours) # # User privilege specification # root ALL=(ALL) ALL # mohammad ALL=(ALL) ALL Code: cp /usr/share/applications/gnome-terminal.desktop /home/mohammad/Desktop/ Code: exit 6. Install bootmenu-n900 and add a bootmenu entry in /etc/bootmenu.d Code: vi /etc/bootmenu.d/ubuntu.ext.item # Press I to enter input mode. # Replace partition numbers with the ones on your device. Code: ITEM_NAME="Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic (external SD, partition 2)" ITEM_ID="ubuntu" ITEM_DEVICE="${EXT_CARD}p2" ITEM_MODULES="mbcache jbd ext3" ITEM_FSTYPE="ext3" ITEM_FSOPTIONS="noatime,rw" Shutdown the N900, hold the U key to go into flashing mode then Code: flasher-3.5 --enable-rd-mode --set-rd-flags=no-omap-wd,no-lifeguard-reset,no-ext-wd Reboot, and pick Ubuntu in the bootmenu and gnome desktop should start. to get BT working Code: echo "00:11:22:33:44:55" > /sys/devices/platform/hci_h4p/bdaddr; modprobe -r hci_h4p; modprobe hci_h4p CREDITS TO MohammadAG ON MAEMO.ORG |
or rather debian, with lxde desktop and ubuntu repos. NB the os installs were done on the SDHC card and the phone manipulated to run off the card, suffice to say, i had to flash the damn phone to get it to work again |
angelland:straight up forget the idea. it was a concept thing and will brick ur phone in 5 mins max. it had limited functionality and the hardware simply cannot run it, but it did boot, took all of 25 minutes and half the battery. u achieve that using the emulators in the repos, with some hacks which i cannot remember now. i got them on a blackhat site then. what works just fine is ubuntu with lxde desktop. ![]() |
@ nazzyon, truth be told, i do not know. there does not seem to be anybody working on a full touch only input architecture for linux as far as i know. guess that would mean that the usual suspects would be in line. else id say jolicloud OS, but that is totally cloud computing, and practically useless for me as a person and there isnt Ubuntu netbook remix anymore, all there is now is Ubuntu (running unity) and as far as i know they have really ramped up the work on it, and from what i have been seeing, its probably your best shot. chill a while, it comes out next month, or try the RC, its coming along nicely now. id do some searching and see what i can come up with |
erm you know they are members because? a faceless person online told you, or google told you? or u saw by divine revelation? matter of fact, if u believe some of the dumbasses whise names are mentioned as being members of whatever truly are, u probably need to see a shrink. so a elite org will have daft illiterate jocks as members? smh |
NB: congrats to chelsea, you just confirmed 2nd spot on the table without much ado, hope you folks fall off a bad or something. do not worry, all you have to do is turn up for your matches, arsenal will ensure you get 2nd unfailingly |
is it that when u chaps have nothing better to do u start nitpicking, or is it thjat you deliberately choose to focus on irrelevant rubbish to divert attention and assuage your pain after each wonky performance? so and so was at fault for this and that. quit this rubbish and stop embarrassing yourselves further jo, u sound like chavs on a freebie points dashing role abeg how can i get the old thread? i need to re-quote some of my posts then. if una like make una blame sepp blatter for half a goal, what u have failed to acknowledge is apparent, u lost to a midfield that is not a midfield read the handwriting on the wall, a gift awaits the person who points out the real issue with this club, and no, its not wenger. like i say, i became a arsenal fan before some of these players if not all and managerial folks, i will remain after they are gone. the club is the permanent denominator, my heart bleeds for my beloved. NB: congrats to chelsea, you just confirmed 2nd spot on the table without much ado, hope you folks fall off a bad or something. do not worry, all you have to do is turn up for your matches, arsenal will ensure you get 2nd unfailingly |
the fone is dead jo. let it be. haha. soon naw u go wan sell am 2 maga |
well, i can port other os to the fone so may not entirely be a bad idea. better than buying N97 for 65k, wtf! |
point is, nobody should come here and be giving us some sanctimonious bullshyte insulting our intelligence. sure we use all d networks, do we have a choice? am not going to start my personal telco. but at the same time i dislike demarketing tactics, and i do not like pple insulting my intelligence. here i am on a saturday afternoon, i cant surf with my mtn mobile plan cos its slow and frustrating, have been having issues calling pple since yesterday, have to resort to using etisalat to bridge the gap, am not complaining and opening threads to rant, one bumboclaat is telling me jackshyte about the messiah called mtn. tseew rubbish |
geez u bet. lol. over a thousand dolls, anyways feel free to start a hackintosh thread, more folks need to get in touch wit dt ish |
one word, hackintosh. why waste that much money. |
precisely who are we talking about here? salomon kalou of chelsea? LWKMD. ok o, so he is maradona and zidane rolled in one but with the intelligence of a congolese red yansh baboon shey? hmmmn interesting. well guess there wasnt anything else noteworthy to discuss for y'all. kalou, SMH |
steve bawo? bill remains the top gun, wetin ballmer sabi? hehehehehehe. but really, google is gradually going down the path of hegemony. annoying |
mccheew, shicken change. na im una dey yarn?. e for be 1.5 trillion sef. our target next year na 2 trillion, and maga must pay naaa |
hmmn, so therefore mtn is the best thing since sliced bread and we should be grateful for them shey? the same network that has had the same problem for years? when its 6.30 pm the line becomes practically useless till around 2 am or later? the same line that regularly gets me stranded because i cannot put a call thru to someone inhouse to come open the gate when for me for hours at nite? the same network that subscribing for data is usually a bad idea cuz of the 60 percent downtime and absolute uselessness at peak periods. or i am xpected to wake up at midnite just to surf? or are we not talking of the same networks whose tariifs are the highest, who always have a catch in their so-called promos and freebies? yeah, we should kiss mtn azz, they our messiah. does collecting salary from mtn requires u to be brainwashed into believing the rubbish u pple always post here? |
the thread is still alive. everyone just ran away sha. well right now what we can discuss is the new desktop enviroments. @ moonraker, if and when u come here, about our discussion in phone section, u see the complaint about user friendliness is the exact point about ubuntu. i stand to be corrected, but there isnt a more noob-friendly distro around. all those remixes still base on ubuntu, linux mint inclusive. having thot about all this for long, i kinda begin to see sense with canonical and the move to unity. unity was a hit on the netbook level, quite simple and easy to use. gnome 3 has been in development for years, they still have refused to ge everyday folks to use it, and they expect a well meaning distro to launch it without testing? i mean a few weeks to 11.04 u still cannot get gnome 3 in a repo!!! that is plain wrong. a lot of the geeks are complaining about ubuntu but then, the focus is getting out to more noob users, if the geeks dont ge that, too bad. i have complained in the past too about how the fun was going out of using ubuntu because everything works ootb, but then if i was to market it to someone, that very attribute should be paramount. right now im testing desktops, i have even installed KDE, i must confess, its better now. i used to hate it,now it seems to work better. thats wat i like about all this, i have choices. unity has been in transition to the desktop pc for a few months now, i daresay they are doing so much better than gnome3. i am actually looking forward to gnome 3 to use it too, i hope i do not get disappointed. fingers crossed we shall see, but one thing is clear, other than bundling the multimedia codecs and a lot of greens, i fail to see what mint is about, with all the shouting going on. there are countless decent remixes to eg pinguyOS anyway, who has been testing, what are your views |
anything you find online whilst googling is the truth, the simple truth and nothing but the truth. by the way, last time i checked, nairaland was owned by a fellow called seun, and he incidentally did nog preclude one from posting anything anywhere on this site. besides, why are the hormones raging so much? read ooo, and believe it as the gospel truth, incidentally i also am a member of this group. we hold our meetings at a place in mount fuji, we get there by levitating. at the meetings, we eat manna. we can control planets, personally, i have four hectares of land on pluto. i do michelle obama anytime i want, if u want more insider info, send me a pm, u have to join tho. signed, urs illuminatingly. . . . . . |
do not hold ur breath o. wont be surprised if he signs no one- "we have not found the quality we want bla bla bla" chances of beating united with diaby and denilson? i doubt |
@ tex, like i said earlier, google seem to have bought a nmanual from bill, and bent on executing it as well as they can ![]() @ moonraker, ubuntu linux thread, computer section |
u need to see the pictures to believe it. terrible. |
^^^^^^ ROTFLMAO ![]() what have i been doing on nl? someborry save me oooooo 1st big misconception, 4ll3r=linux guru/geek bros if only u knew o, i am a bush boi from somewhere with little or no knowledge o, maybe when u realize that u then see why i yarn so much dust and opata simplicity, hmmn well depends, are u saying wp7 is simpler to use? i have had pple say same about windows too, i didn't agree, still dont. im thinking, this discussion is premature, december 2011 would be a better time to have this discussion? that said, whats ur take on the mess called desktop environments in ubuntu linux now--- ps, u have to move to the proper thread |
the govt needs to do something about idleness and mental health. delusions manifest in various ways |
heehehehe, ogunfe but really, most asst coaches/managers are useless. but still, better be careful o, abi u want pat rice instead? if phelan na ogunfe, wetin pat rice come be? isi ewu? you cannot be more useless than pat rice, period. |
his body language? u mean u saw all that in a 2 sec time frame? wow! there is no use discussing with y'all, enjoy your moment in the sun. at the time van persie was sent off, who was going out of the CL? in the first leg @ emirates, was the match any different from this one in the first half as per possession, stats etc if the thought did not honestly cross your mind when the equaliser went in, that arsenal could win the tie, raise ur hand up. its very convinient to cite stats now, when usually arsenal gets ALL the stats, and the bloody twunts get a dying minute goal. nobody talks about how if it was a boxing contest at the 80th minute then. that i could and probably would, given antecedents, won is not in doubt had the match stayed at 11 aside, and the dumbass ref tried to be even in his calls. anyway, its all in the past now. weekend looms, onto the next one |
@ moonraker, nah no ish as long as you are not a barcelona fan ![]() err, i am not biased to microsoft, really, especially seeing that i still corrupt my hard drives with them at this point ![]() lets just say i tend not to like or trust their practices. and i have this unfortunate perception that they are a company who feed fat off my foolishness. ![]() do u know i once believed the great virus scam theory(i still have my suspicions) ![]() nah, i dont beef MS, win7 is actually a great product, at its level. ha! @ tex, well you know naa!! ![]() as for google, im beginning to suspect that they have simply borrowed a leaf from bill. and they definitely have to do something about their security issues, they just have to! well, the becoming big now, and becoming a target, it comes with the turf. what they need to do is learn from those preceding them and not fall into the mistake of having this type of scandals about security. truth be told, i am deeply pained that Nokia dropped Meego! |
@ TEX my oga texazzpete:haha, i said I, ME, 4ll3r, do not believe them! abi. am i not entitled to my belief? what you fail to take note is that there is some gaps in all these grand promises. does the deal between MS and Nokia say that eventually Nokia will become sole maker of WP7 running phones? i dunno, i missed that part is thats the case. if its not, i am coming from the standpoint that Nokia remains an independent company, in direct competition with other phone makers. they say now that nokia will mod as it likes and add its products into the OS. and like the question i asked earlier, so is it now a case of Nokia working to improve the OS for its competitors? i guess thats not the right way to look at it but then u must catch my drift. . . . . . . . again, does that mean companies like HTC will now have to make devices that have softwares with Nokia branding in them, like carry Nokia Maps? or rather i must be mistaken, and this stuff will all be debranded and adopted by MS as generic products for the platform? who gets the licensing fees? please clarify, i am labouring under big misconceptions texazzpete:MY BAD, I raise up my hands and accept my gaffe! my problem was i know that the WP7 in its present state lacks a lot of features of its competitors, which features are promised soon (good thing Ms is not owned by the nigerian govt) so under that misconception, i chose not to do what i consider an unfair side by side comparison with other Os'es so as not to belabor the point, i can only refer to my initial post above about my views as to playing catch up. yup, well now that you point out that iOs 4.2 adds little to 4.1, i concur. i take this as an admission, to be stored and used in the future, that you pple just keep deceiving yourselves as apple fanboys ![]() anyway, whatever the difference is, i know that WP7 is not at that stage yet!! jesus is coming soon= WP7 greatest and latest updates is coming soon. hold ur breath and occupy till he arrives texazzpete:ouch!!! that hurt. ![]() the slim minimalistic metro design has been hailed as an alternative. . . . . . . . . . tex, what has happened? i sense a subtle change. . . . . . . . lets put this in perspective. gnome has been hailed as a brilliant alternative to windows aero theme. so? is that why i, in my personal subjective world, should think that its better than iOs homescreen/Themes? i say i dont like the UI or the Homescreen, (and i know the difference, thank you), what gives? besides since when did you start batting for the underdog? ![]() texazzpete:do not start with this trolling thing again. puhlease ![]() all these improvements, slated for a fall 2011 update. slated? as in is coming or is here? at this rate i want to believe you have a direct inlet into all these stuff, and test them out in the comfort of your bedroom. until they come, we dont know if they are better than what we have now, or will be as promised. what you have said in summary, is that the right time to consider buying a WP7 phone is when all these make it in abi? and not now? and please, do u even realise how many phones nokia sold with that UI design? i say it looks better. u dont agree abi? simples. in my opinion, the design is wacked and nokia will likely change it a lot. and i repeat, I AM NOT BATTING FOR ANY SIDE, SIMPLY airing my views bloody apple fanboy |
