PhonesRe: More Security Issues With Whatsapp - Another Reason Why BBM Is Best! by 4llerbuntu(m): 8:33am On Oct 24, 2013
Tajsagay: The Metro has reported that a Whatsapp user noticed a friend being active on the instant messaging client two years after his death. This would be enough to shock and confuse anyone! The reason this occurred is that the mobile number had been reassigned to a new user and therefore the poor chap that had passed away was not in fact able to Whatsapp from heaven, but instead it was a new random person with the same phone number.
.

Have your iPhone and Android buddies used BBM yet? How are they finding it compared to the alternatives? Let us know in the comments.

FOR THE DAFT ONES, THIS POST WAS ORIGINALLY WRITTEN HERE http://crackberry.com/more-security-issues-whatsapp
i am going to go out of my way to question your motives and level of knowledge @ OP

I suppose you did read the article?

and i also suppose you do understand how whatsapp works?

so with the bolded point, can you reconcile how this is a "security problem"?

if it is, then what about making and receiving phone calls on this re-assigned line?

like someone said, it is even much more weird that these faceless people actually kept the phone numbers of their dead pal for more than 2 years after they died. for what please? Do they intend to ring their dead friend? perchance they were not aware their friend was dead, would a phone call not amount to the same thing?

its not like you cannot sell a Blackberry and hence the PIN. if i have a PIN associated with you and u sell your phone, if i decide to add that PIN 3 years later, would it not be the present user i would get?

clearly its even better on android and Iphone where the PINS are linked to BB ID, on Blackberry devices, the PINS are attached to the physical device!! you can move your ID and profile, but if you post your pin here today, and drop the device tomorrow, anyone that adds the pin will get the new user of the device!!

of course lets ignore the fact the article denigrating a very successful competitor is conveniently from CRACKBERRY.

how anyone who installed whatsapp of his own volition can come round to say this is an issue is bemystifying.

If you value your credibility, you will delete this crap post. Don't spread FUD.

EMMAUGOH: yeah my whtasapp has ben hacked and someone is using my number to send people strange messages,i hve tried all my best by re verifying my account and still i still get unknow add am seing my account joined to some group account,i beging to fear this my last use of whatsapp
err, this makes no sense. is your phone number active on 2 separate Sims? or you have your profile backed up on another phone which you have sold? whatsapp will not work via one number on 2 devices simultaneously.

anyways, what i would have expected you to do if in doubt would be to close the account entirely, and then re-register. (just to clear all doubts).

joeydozzy: Who else noticed that bbm ain't a data hog

I just checked my usage..... 1.03mb for the past 2hrs huh
whatsapp is much less, if ur not sending pictures or files i doubt if any chat app consumes data.

whatsapp over a month for me takes like 15 mb with heavy chatting

BTW i am quite mystified as to why people say BBM is more secure because of Pins etc, and then go about broadcasting their pins grin grin
is it the excitement of using what is simply just another chat app?

and do pple actually simply add random strangers on their chat apps? i thought one chose friends, acquaintances, and pple/businesses of interest that use the app.

why would i want to distribute my pin to 1 million random strangers on nairaland? u mean total strangers ping u for no reason and u respond and like it? embarassed embarassed

Leopantro: I thought it was because of where I stay. in my house, airtel network is 4 bars only in the gateman's room and doesn't browse. I got so frustrated I climbed to the top of a 4 story building to download a 42mb file. I could get only one bar and was browsing so slow, it said I had 275438975 days to go. and it was was on H+ not edge. thunder fire 3.5g.
so what r u using now?
ComputersRe: Ubuntu Linux by 4llerbuntu(m): 7:59am On Oct 21, 2013
@semid, hmnn..........
internet was non-existent over the weekend so i didnt see this (effing airtel)

on your own basically i'd say create a thumb (USB) drive with Ubuntu on it. install GPARTED on the thumb drive ubuntu install and try to mount the external drive.

(U dont have to use your laptop that way) any computer with usb 2.0 will do.

if it don't mount, install "testdisk" and "recoverdm" on ubuntu (probably using synaptic) and try recover it.

you may be lucky and it will isolate the bad sectors and allow u copy some stuff out. (Believe it or not, once i got lucky with a DVD drive that suddenly showed up as RAW, likely because DVDs use sane contiguous journaling sha)

TBH, 50% of the files may be unuseable because that drive was NTFS formatted before and that rubbish writes bytes randomly all over the disk

I'm more wary about repairing that drive. the partition tables are corrupted, and in my experience that is pretty much EOD. rarely seen a drive that survived that.

Its difficult to agree to help these situations because success probability is like 5% grin grin grin u get it done, ur an hero. u fail and u just extinguished someborry's hope cheesy cheesy cheesy

but if ur in lagos, sure u can send someone down with it to my office. (easier to get me there, i practically live there anyways).

actually i'm more interested in how the drive got like that. Western Digital drives have decent controller chips

or u could even maybe swap out the platters (u need another drive and NSA level skills tho tongue tongue)

Gentlemen good evening.

If I were to adopt Mtn as my ISP now What options do I have to get value for money?
Whether legit or otherwise I don't care really So far I can pick my phone and tablet and surf 80 percent of the time.

Or even Etisalat. I don't mind porting sef.

I have had enough of airtel. What shall it profit a man to get 2unuseable gb of data.? It's been extremely terrible and there is no hope in sight.

I'm finding it difficult to get both together...

no vex abeg........
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Newbie In Satellite Installation: Introduce Yourself Here With Your Problems by 4llerbuntu(m): 10:37am On Oct 18, 2013
microgiant: 4llerbuntu, I bought those LNB holders, very flexible to set. downside, it's short and lengths are are the same.
hmmnn, the one im trying to fab is proving difficult. making the LNB holder "neck" rotate-able is proving difficult.

so this will not work well for a 90CM dish? (as per the length)? i saw this has a potential for 5 LNBs..

between 4-36 degs that is....

true.

weirdly, is it not ironic the moment these companies decide to up their game a little their prices are no longer dirt cheap?

a 45-55k for Cortex A7 and gorilla glass 1? this has specs of phones released in 2010.. and its EXPENSIVE in that light
PhonesRe: Infinix Alpha Phablet Specifications & Review by 4llerbuntu(m): 12:25pm On Oct 09, 2013
mr cassanova: Infinix Alpha is a brilliant Android smart phone with a large 5.7-inch display and powerful quad-core processor. Its massive 5.7-inch display places it perfectly within the phablet category (smart phone-tablet combo). A large screen and powerful CPU is not all the Infinix Alpha offers, the 12 megapixel camera with full HD video is sure to score a few points with some consumers.

So far, Infinix has been focusing on entry level Android smartphones. With the Infinix Alpha, Infinix is launching into the mid-range segment and showing they can build better looking smart phones with brilliant performance. Infinix Alpha runs Android 4.2.1 (Jelly Bean) on a Cotex A7 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 1GB RAM.

Infinix Alpha spots a 5.7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixel. The display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 2. Infinix Alpha has a 12 mega-pixels camera on the back. The Camera can record full 1080p HD video and with a BSI sensor offers improved photo quality in low light. The camera also features autofocus and LED flash. On the front, the Infinix Alpha has a 5 megapixels camera with a BSI sensor.

Price & Availability
Infinix Alpha is available in Nigeria and the price ranges from N45,500 to N55,000 depending on your location in Nigeria. You can buy the Infinix Alpha online or at a phone store near you.

so these OEMS know they have been building low end devices, yet their marketers will not let us rest with comparisons to high end devices from other companies? sad huh

But wait, @ Taharqa and co, this IS REGISTRATION right?

its a one-off thing.

paying 10 thousand instead of 15 thousand to register a limited liability company is going to magically transform my new business?

besides that amount of misinformation that that article is befuddling.
the CAC does not even have a billing structure that works like that.
since when was the Act amended to include these monetary segments quoted?

besides now you have a lot of ignorant folks who are going to be citing this as reference for a reduction in incorporation fees when in reality nothing has changed much AND IT DOES NOT EVEN APPLY TO BUSINESS NAMES!!!

Im pretty sure none of you campaign/laundering team has done anything with CAC recently... would explain why you think this is worth celebrating... but then, considering u folks celebrate when Jonathan farts... this is a big deal for y'all undecided undecided

yes that's the idea. u have it right. u could also easily just buy the 2 in 1 lnb......m

but for amos, its not guaranteed that attaching to the handle will work automatically. u have to locate where it is first by manipulating the lnb gently to then be sure which point to attach it .

for me beside the handle has not had any success......... yet. may retry with a new lnb skew ........ but I have made up my mind to try get a fabricated holder..... makes life easier
