microgiant: 4llerbuntu, you dish is already facing pointed to DSTV direction, to track other satellites from that position when you are behind the dish moving it to your left means moving to West, while the other way round is moving to East.

i need to clarify something.... if tracking 2 sats the angle of elevation of the dish on both differs, how does one compensate?

increase the downward facing angle of the lnb or decrease it?

this thread is intended for sharing information about making lnb holder, SCALARS, and etc. as I have discovered its not easy at all to get these things in nigeria and fabrication requires knowing what you are aiming for.


please do come in and share knowledge. especially those folks who are good at the maths things.

I tend to believe sat tracking should be more of a precise science than trial and error which newbies do till they get the hang of it.


so please for instance:

if I were to make the curved bar holder in the attached picture. at what degree will this bar be curved? what will be the distance between the holders measurement wise to make the screw holes? etc.




NB: if perchance you know where one can get these things rather than stress out making them do share..... iv been trying to contact the guy who advertised this one but he does not pick his calls nor reply texts or msils

I'm quite aware the 4th lnb is likely to be a dud. but I bought it already so make I hang am like that joor.

actually I believe the two central lnbs will get amos 5 / multi tv / joy tv. I'm hoping the one on the right (standing behind the dish, lnb facing me) will track dstv just in case (its not my priority, I can't be paying for what I won't watch at all)

i suspect 28º cant be that far from 36º at an angle. jjc oversabi

I'd give an arm to get one of those multiple lnb holders but I can't seem to find any. and the welders and aluminum guys in my vicinity can't seem to understand my efforts to describe one for them.





I'm just trying to learn. I'd appreciate insight into the angles n settings . doing it practically is different from just reading TP this, Skew That...

what's the easiest way to add lnb to a regular 90 cm dstv dish in the absence of dedicated lnb holders made for that purpose?


I wanted to do a 4 lnb setup but I gather its practically impossible without a calibrated lnb arm. the one advertised here previously has proven elusive to get. the fellow does not even pick his calls nor reply mails.


if you have such a setup pls show me how u hooked up the lnbs. if possible with pictures. ......... I'm at a loss as to how to physically add the lnbs to the dish.

funny thing is I already bought the lnbs sef ........



ps: I'm looking to track Dstv, Amos, W3A and Astra by the way. I just need ideas on how to string up the lnbs. tracking won't be an issue

@ lifehacker, do not flash that ROM.
the radios and partitions differ even if it appears to be the same phones essentially.

BTW, its not a software thingy, its hardware. the radio in it does not support 2100 band HSDPA. it was set like that from factory. No "flashable" software will change that. u need whosoever programmed the chip to reprogram it.

lik i once mentioned, only etisalat has **some** masts that have 3G on the supported bands. i know because the mast around my office in lagos has........... you are not likely to see that in 99% of their coverage probably

naaah, its no biggie. the device just does not have the wifi router broadcast band enabled. its either they change it on the router or you change it on device.

err, well depends.. they are there and not there. i'm not exactly sure how to explain... but they are actually there, but in use the device moves the bits and cache to the sdcard. so technically to the device they are not there ... but they are there..

ok, its kinda like caching apps in RAM. the apps don't really reside in the RAM, but get loaded there, and the device executes the ones loaded in RAM because its faster to do that. if u check the RAM, nothing there in fact, but ondevice apps are running there.....

they are symlinks. the raw files may be moved to the sdcard, but the system needs to be fooled into thinking they are where they supposed to be.
