@coogar is that Torres golden boot not the THREE goals golden boot?

was it not the one he had same number of goals with other players and was awarded it because he scored in a later stage of thectournament ?

was it that golden boot or another?

debosky: Maybe because Sanchez is better as a winger than Villa? Villa is primarily striker - Sanchez/Tello play as wingers, so it's not shocking to believe that wingers are preferred on the flanks to a striker. Besides, don't you know Barca changed managers while Villa was out injured? He may have fallen out of favour with Villanova. . .there are many possibilities as to why he isn't starting as many games.

So the issue is now some nebulous 'world class' tag and not his goals? Wenger was truly right when he said deluded fans are looking for name-tags not end product.
k. I will do this one last time.

I understand that you are agitated about posting, but please read what I quoted again.

I said UPFRONT. u are saying that you yourself know that tello and Sanchez are wingers. so essentially, Barcelona prefers to play wingers in the striking position ahead of a good or better still "world class" striker?

u know Sanchez is better as a winger but he plays as a striker ahead of villa? u don't think that possibly that striker is washed out?

ERM u know how Wenger plays gervinho upfront ahead of chamakh?

make you own conclusions from that fact. ironically even west ham is not stupid enough to buy chamakh without 'testing' : D and definitely not for foolish money.

the change of coaches/things that happened part is simply.............. so the new coach does not know the difference between strikers and wingers?

like seriously aren't you the one that simply wants a "name"? from these posts is it not clear that the only reason you are supporting this move is because its 'David Villa'? you are the deluded one. of you want a striker that will hit the ground running it won't be villa as you claim.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by 4llerbuntu(m): 5:14pm On Jan 05, 2013
I said messi plays false 9. read the sentence again, it has a full stop.
in which planet does Alexis Sanchez play upfront ahead of a 'world class' striker?

is michu world class? was he regarded as world class as coogar claims present day villa is?

u know any truly world class striker available and only clubs like arsenal r interested?

Lehmann was a goalkeeper. they generally peak above 30.
Arteta was a known first team player in the premier league that clearly had something to offer yet. could anybody speculate about his abilities at the time?

keep looking for excuses. I know YOU KNOW the reality is its a stupid deal for that price and wages. end of.

the only policy arsenal had is making money or throwing it away trying to deceive themselves that they can be competitive.

if this was a loan or a cut price deal, I could understand a little.
I guess this was what Wenger was referring to when he said at the presser yesterday that "fans" want a big name signing.

This type of signing? oh wow, I can see big clubs falling over themselves to sign him.

I'm not surprised coogar thinks its a good idea, this is his idea of fun, supporting moronic ideas at rival clubs. there is a trail, after all up also think Torres is world class grin grin

David villa is world class? two years ago? now? Alexis Sanchez, Pedro play ahead of him. messi is playing false 9 ahead of the world class striker now. if u can't get to play and score bucket loads of goals in the best attacking side in the world, u want to do it at arsenal? arsenal of today or 5yrs ago?

this reminds me of when debosky was arguing for squilacci. yeah by all means, let's hoover up all the washed up past it, used to be world class striker types all over because we want to buy big names.

why not try Raul Gonzalez too, makelele?

I'm hearing opening bids of 13mill and 130k salary but the hot 29 yr old we had was sold because?
PhonesRe: Meet Ubuntu Phone Os. by 4llerbuntu(op): 2:34pm On Jan 05, 2013
Thought I would share this article.

what do u think about the arguments?
pls we would all prefer matured, intelligent responses and questions and not "merge or die", "who is Ubuntu" variety.

The Ubuntu Phone will fail to make ‘the tiniest of inroads’ against the mobile market dominant players, according to CNN Money’s Adrian Covert.

In a post titled ‘”The Ubuntu smartphone (which no one will use) is a glimpse of the future“, Covert argues that the failure of Motorola’s ‘dockable’ Atrix device, and the tepid reception to Microsoft’s Windows 8 are indications that a fully convergent single ‘OS’ across devices isn’t something consumers have an appetite for.

At least, not yet.

Now, Covert doesn’t claim to be a psychic, but he is a journalist with years of experience in this sector.

But are his pessimistic assumptions accurate? Or has he missed the real lure of the Ubuntu Phone idea?

‘Duopoly’

It’s the nature of tech journalism that, at a mere 2 days post reveal, the fate of the Ubuntu Phone has already been called.

It’s an easy assumption to make, largely because the smartphone market is in the stranglehold of what Covert refers to as a ‘duopoly’.

iOS rules the high-end (not a critical judgement of mine, simply there isn’t a mid-range iPhone). Android, meanwhile, commands both a slice of high-end, and most of the mid-ranged market. Low-end Android devices are becoming more plentiful, but few (if any) get good reviews.

With a good year set to pass before an Ubuntu Phone goes on sale in a store, ready for us to exchange cash for, Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android will inevitably further cement their stranglehold on these respect smartphone segments during this time.

But it’s here where commentators like Covert are missing the point.

See, Ubuntu Phones aren’t really going to claw much market share away from Apple or Google. And this neat ‘dock your phone and use it as a desktop’ feature, whilst innovative, won’t be the main lure for many.

In fact chances are it won’t even feature on the majority of Ubuntu Phones…

‘Starter Smartphones’

During his keynote address earlier this week, Mark Shuttleworth continually referred to ‘emerging’ markets as the battleground on which an Ubuntu Phone would fight it out for impact.

Phrases like ‘starter smartphone’ and ‘feature-phone upgraders’ were used to describe the device and its audience.

It’s this sector, the low-end, that the battle for the hearts, minds and hands of the less tech-savvy will take place.

Design and engineering emphasis placed on providing a ‘crisper, sharper’ user experience on ‘low-end’ hardware than that currently offered. Focus is as every bit on the “phone” fuction as it is on the “smart”.

No bolting on of traditional phone features as an afterthought to shiner, more fancy features. And these fancy features include the ‘desktop’ docking mode.

It’s this attention that I find the real key differentiator.

Rivals Yet to Arrive

But Ubuntu is not alone in looking to conquer it.

Later this year Mozilla will launch the first Firefox OS phones in Latin America. As will Jolla (made from the carcass of MeeGo). As will the Linux-based Tizen.

Short of Android forking itself to run fantastically on low-powered phones (unlikely: carriers/OEMS make money from super-fast handsets capable of running the current-gen OS); and short of a mid-range iPhone appearing, Ubuntu is well placed against its expectant rivals.

Covert summarises that:

“At best, Ubuntu seems like a sandbox for the most enthusiastic early adopters and a cheap enterprise solution for companies on a tight budget.”
How likely that proves to be true will depend on what Ubuntu’s rivals can bring to the table – and how soon they can bring it. It’s all to play for.

Time, not the dominance of Android, will be the ultimate decider in this war.

seriously. I don't know.

can I ask why you don't want to use the default app? or pidgin?

@blackweaver, what do u mean by not working without data? the html5 apps?

I want to believe thats mostly a stop gap thingy till a native app is built.

correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that with the SDK released by canonical, its easy to

1. port existing Ubuntu apps to the phone OS. the back end is the same, what you have to do is build a GUI frontend suitable for a phone screen and in line with the design language of the mobile OS , the touch, no buttons, swipe from edges, large icons etc

which would potentially mean that every app we use on the desktop can easily come to mobile.

plus remember that a lot of these apps are open source, meaning 'anyone' can port them. it would be a competition of interfaces mostly.

2. build new apps from scratch or port them from anor OS by cross compiling(those written in supported programming languages ) . allowing for d design language. at least the claim is that the SDK/NDK makes it easy

3. apps that are closed or not available for porting **can** still be used via 'native level with integrated system notifications' webapps pending IF and when the developers who own it build one.

which would mean unlike WP where the absence of apps was such a big deal, there will options, even if inferior.

I guess u can use Google maps mobile as a web apps, likewise countless other web products that can work in a mobile web page.

that's d summary of my understanding without going into technical stuff and how one program language is better or not, if its easy or hard to write apps or compile yada yada yada.

even if this is not compelling or the bees' knees, its not half bad you know. its NOT OH SO TERRIBLE. at least an average user won't go, " where is my gmail, Facebook, twitter, oh no I can't use this POS",

HTML5 webapps for Facebook twitter won't work without internet, but native apps on any platform also would not, or am I missing something? any app that requires the internet won't work without it anywhere.

texazzpete: Yes, because Desktop Ubuntu has been a stunning success with Enterprise users cheesy
nope big difference.

the company would have to commit to using Ubuntu on their workstations all over.
That is NEVER an easy choice to deploy in such environments. the solutions are usually convoluted just to accommodate the workers. they range from custom Desktops to Virtualized Windows layered on Linux, to citrix deployment etc.

often times they just sock it and go with windows. The clear exceptions being Tech companies, Software production companies, specialized companies etc.

texazzpete: Based on current reality, it should do worse than the desktop currently does.
why would it? Android hardware is a dime a dozen. and apparently they are ready to cater to low end devices too of the 512 mb ram variety.

i daresay when the fun starts virtually everyone who runs ubuntu and owns an android would be willing to dualboot. it may end up in a mirror image of the present desktop position. use ubuntu for everyday stuff, reboot into android to game! cheesy

its much easier to get people to use a mobile OS than to use a desktop. this interface is dead easy to use.

i forsee the Chinese crapware makers jumping on this too. those guys jump on anything. there is no google licensing/play wahala to deal with grin grin grin

been thinking about how players, esp Arsenal players are so prone to magically becoming the bestest thing since sliced bread when contracts are to be negotiated.

Rosicky is the most recent example.

and truth be told, im suspecting the same for Walcott.

C'mon this is Walcott we talking about. That Walcott..............

besides, question which must be asked is: Has the club fallen in standards so much that the likes of Theo are looking so good as to be indispensable?,

or is it that Theo has improved so drastically that he is finally Arsenal standard, or rather a top side standard seeing that Arsenal can not be really regarded as a top side anymore.

Honestly, will Theo play upfront for any top four side in a top league in Europe if he were not to be at arsenal?

i guess the answers should color opinions on this his contract imbroglio. for me, i think he is being offered exactly his value by wenger, and thats even because he is English

truth is there are like a few IPs that u get assigned that will owrk. since u cannot chhose the IP u get from MTN's BIS servers, u should just keep reconnecting to the server till it gives u an IP that connects.

been reading lots of views on this project and i must say that more than half the fucktards who post on tech blogs are not smart at all.

we have got lots of folks who don't run Linux, and who don't understand it talking crap. somehow they keep equating this to say RIM or HTC kinda thing. the refrain is... its late, no space, etc etc.

this project is bringing to the mobile space the desktop paradigms that apply to Ubuntu os on the desktop.

this is not RIM that has a do or die aim to sell hardware and software. this company does not make hardware. it does not sell software. its survival is not tied to the number of phones sold in 1year etc.

if desktop Ubuntu is still alive, then why not this? when Ubuntu started out windows had like 99.99999% of the market. obviously some of us still use it. and frankly it's v come a long way and quite good now.

Lord knows how many years it took to get just one company to ship it on a device from factory. now that number is rising yearly.

its open source. sure that the company is focused on getting OEMS to ship it, but that's not going to make or break it, no.

I'm just rather worried for RIM more now. the suitability of this os for enterprise is like ...... wow. companies can deploy devices and manage them securely on this implementation of Linux at a fraction of the cost, less complexity and more lockdown security.

get a build and lock it down, and deploy. no significant extra cost as the same admin tools and tech for managing desktops will be used.

let's see sha. interesting times. as for consumer market, it will do just as good or better than the desktop currently does.

logica: Now you tell me how many users in the entire world are interested in all that geek-speak? This O/S will have to be more appealing to basic users to cause a dent in the Android user-base. But if that's all it's got to offer, it won't even take up to 0.001% of current Android users away.

So eventually, they may be better off selling themselves by affiliating with Android one way or the other.
well my response to that is as follows

Ubuntu
gnomeOS
GnomeBuntu
Kubuntu
xubuntu
Lubuntu
Linux Mint
etc etc

do u notice a trend?

this line : This O/S will have to be more appealing to basic users to cause a dent in the Android user-base. But if that's all it's got to offer, it won't even take up to 0.001% of current Android users away applies to Windows even more.

do u know windows has 90% plus share of the desktop OS market? Ubuntu still has not "affiliated with windows" in some way. Its still alive. its growing slowly. Android dominance can never be equated to or will ever reach windows dominance on the desktop. But true open source is still alive

i guess its hard for you to understand sha.

PS: You are not in any way more invested in, or more of an android fanboy as i am. doubt if u will ever be

To survive, eventually they will either fully merge with Android or ride on the Android popularity by ensuring fully Android support.
kindly explain what you mean by this "merge with android" thing. i don't get

i just tried to explain this does not run android or based on android. its Native code. its new.

u keep saying it will merge with android. has desktop ubuntu merged with windows or OSX?

i don't really get. did WP merge with android? IOS?
this is also a separate platform like those ones.

the reason android's name comes u is all that u cna use the HARDWARE to run this OS.

if its because of the apps, well thats left to open source to meet up. and That u can be sure they will

besides thats why this supports webApps natively so u can run stuff as a stop gap measure till native apps are developed

so unlike for instance WP8 and IOS6, those google apps like maps can actually be run as a web app (outside of a browser), u can see for yourself the demo device has facebook, gmail, twitter, pinterest webapps already with notifications support.

please explain this merge or die thing. i would understand if you were talking about stuff like performance etc now but this?........

will google stop them from using google search? or gmail? any app on ubuntu desktop can be ported over to this mobile OS within 2 days, your major concern is how to design it for touch input on a smaller screen.
