OgboAto: And yet the Yorubas are historically known to be a pastoral and frightened people.. and the Edos are known to be an imperial and powerful people. |
Re: Benins Are The Owners Of Ogboni Confraternity and olokun worship by OgboAto: 12:40pm On May 16, 2020 |
davidnazee: Yes, I agree. The frightened people acquired territories in 6 states + Kwara & Kogi in Nigera, Republic of Benin, Togo, Ghana. The imperial & powerful people are crammed in a 2by2 piece of land under the threat of occupation & invasion by the Ijaw & Ibo. The Edo are indeed such a brave people! 12 Likes 3 Shares |

OgboAto: Please stop confusing yourselves. Who did you acquire territories from? Did u acquire it from other tribes? Those places are historically Yoruba due to ur large numbers and spread.. It was the Edos that acquired non Edo territories by conquest. Anyways you are right about the current situation of things (except the ijaw and ibo part and it’s actually the ibos that are acquiring ur lands and the ijaws constantly warring and killing ur people) but if we are to go to arms now I bet u history will repeat itself.. 1 Like |

davidnazee: 1. Take your own advise. 2. The lands were acquired when Yoruba migrated out of Ife. Oyo acquired the most territorial space. 3. Ibo invaded and conquered you with the Ojukwu army in the 1967-1970 war. 4. Ijaw have been threatening you & your king on your own land since 2018. 5. If it comes down to it, Yoruba towns in Edo will return to Yorubaland. Ijaw and Ibo will feast on the 2by2 remnants. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Olu317: Ask an Ora man what Ora means in his dialect.. all languages have similar words.. don;t know what your arguement is about.. But as for "Oba" it was first used by the Edos to represent king. |

gregyboy: (1) The use of "Oba" precedes the use of "Sir" for Oba Adesoji Aderemi. "Sir" came to be added to his designation upon his election as the Governor of Western Nigeria. "Oba" is indigenous to the Yoruba lexicon. "Oba" is not found in the Edo lexicon till date. (2) The Yorubas have been manufacturing and using beads several centuries before beads were first introduced to the Binis at the tail end of the 1400s by the Portuguese. (3) Lastly, the "Ida", "Ada", or "Agada" is widely used all over Yoruba Kingdoms as part of the Kingdom's official emblems originally despatched from Ile-Ife. In fact, your attachment proves my point by stating that the use of the "Ada" in Benin Kingdom was introduced by Ogiso Ere --- who was the 2nd Ogiso of Igodomigodo. See attachment below for evidence that Ogiso Ere (the 2nd Ogiso) was a Yoruba who was originally sent to Igodomigodo as an emissary from Ife. cc: geosegun, Olu317 3 Likes 4 Shares

RuggedSniper: I'm not sure where he got the picture from. I'm only use his own picture to drive home my own point. My mother is an Ife princess whose ancestry traces directly; through Ife princes, princeses, and kings; back to Ooni Lajamisan. She travels home to her Akodi in Ife at some intervals for periodic meetings especially at the outset of the ascension of Ooni Ogunwusi. Moreover, I am myself of Awori descent paternally -- so it goes back through Olofin Ogunfunminire of Lagos back to Ife again. Genealogy is a very complex web anyways. It goes all over the place. I am, however, proud to have sufficient awareness of the many Yoruba Kingdoms that I am connected with. What about you? Are you Yoruba? 2 Likes |
