Both persons are Nigerian nationals. There are provisions in the Penal code that MAY provide for viable trial.

Even though defamation is not a criminal offence in the UK it is in Nigeria. She may not be imprisoned in the UK but now that she has eloped......to use the words of the post, she faces counts on obstruction of police investigation and a number of other offences in the UK which could land her some substantial time in jail. Talk about escalation of offences. She should have just remained in the UK. It doesn't matter how far the man goes, she cannot go to jail. Its a civil case. The highest that can happen is damages and community service.

Now she has run to Nigeria where the case can potentially be tried as a criminal case. Fry pan to fire.

On the bright side for the lady, if she was arrested without a valid warrant, she could walk away free.

Hushpuppy crime is a different crime totally from this, the US legal systems is different from the Nigerian or Uk legal systems.

Once you leave the borders of Nigeria, any crime you commit against another Nigerian in a new country will be settled with the laws of that country.

A Nigerian lady identified as Bola Aseyan who falsely accused UK-based doctor, Dr Olufumilayo has been remanded in Prison after she escaped to Lagos.

If you recall, sometimes around April, the lady called out the medical doctor for allegedly raping her during her visit to his resident in the UK, an allegation the doctor denied and vowed to take legal actions.

He was eventually vindicated after an investigation by the UK Police, and while the accuser was being requested to report to the Police for further inquiries, she eloped to Nigeria.

The case was escalated in Nigeria and she was arrested and arraigned by the Police.

Reports have it that she has been remanded in a Prison in Lagos today.

Not true, there is no warrant for her arrest. She can only be tried in the Uk court because the event happened here

If you murder someone in the UK and run to Nigeria, Nothing happens to you until the uk put out a warrant for your arrest, you will be arrested and sent back to the uk to face the court there.
