But you don't have the money for car now cos you're going to start saving 3k every day from now till the next 2 years? If that's the case, don't you think this your question is a little too early? |

Bluntdude: Hello guys, good day. Kindly help me make the right decision.
I am an artisan in Abuja who works under a reputable company as a freelancer. My job entails me moving around much everytime. I've done this for years now and to be honest it's really affecting me. The stress of trekking, getting into vehicles and alighting incessantly is really wearing me out. I'm thinking of saving 3k per day for about 2 years to get a car to help ease my movement because in the past and even now, I've lost some customers due to my inability to meet up with some appointments. Most times I get home really exhausted not necessarily because of much work but because of the stress involved in getting to customers' houses and returning again daily.
Now here's the challenge... I planned on getting a land and start building soon before the idea of getting a car came up due to much stress of moving about. I'd really love to own my own house. So please I'd be needing advice from you guys... House or car? Which should I start with first? Really important. Thanks. The house is an asset, while the car is a liability. |

Let's put the question this way
I have 2m to spend, do I build a house or buy a car for my business?
a) 2m cannot build a house, if you attempt it, you will exhaust the money without reaching lintel and go back to trekking
b) 2m can buy a car and enhance your business
My advice, Buy a car and add small extra money to also buy piece of land. The money to develop the property will come from your business (and the car) 1 Like |

Thought of that but I no want make me and mechanic become friends. Lol. Note that I'm not saving the whole of my money for either the car/house. Just 3k per day. The rest is divided between my house rent and leaving the balance in my main account. I make between 150-200k or slightly more per month. I think you should get a Yaris or city. It’s less fuel consuming Then when you’re not working, you use it and run bolt and in the weekends too. In your situation, the car is a necessity to aid your business. So I think you should also make money from the car too. |

Ocholu:
Camry 2012. If you're in Abuja you can also be using it for Uber or Bolt during the weekend.
15 minutes is enough to trek up to 1 kilometer for a grown man. Let's say you trek 15 minutes, 5 times to different jobs in a day, that's 5 x 1km = 5 kms.
Trekking 5 kms everyday, well, that one don de pass exercise oh! Lol No get talk wetin you no know, 800k can’t even buy Belgium engine and gearbox for 2012 Camry. |

If you are not buying a car brand new, then you should take into cognisance the cost of purchase only. A car is a funny machine and if care is not taken, you could be losing so much to repairs on a daily basis. Come to think of it, who chooses a liability over an investment? Even the resell value of a house is a plus as against a car. My take is that you build a house and then buy a car subsequently. |
