shymexx: Personally, I think knowledge of self(consciousness); love; and trying to find a balance between our passion for our different tribes/ethnicities and race are the answers...

With knowledge of self, we'll be conscious about who we're and understand that we come from a great race of people who're achievers... So, that will enable us not to settle-for-less and raise the standard high for those we call our heroes and those we emulate...

With love, we'll be able to love one another - love is the answer... Once we start loving ourselves, we won't be take advantage of one another... At the end of the day, we're all in the struggle together - and what binds us all together is greater than the few differences we've... In the larger scheme-of-things, we're all in this mess together - and their earlier we realise that, the better for all of us... Everything wrong with our value system stems from lack of LOVE and knowledge of self...

And finding a balance between our passion for our different tribes/ethnicities and race is what's needed for us to be able to work together as one big family and maintain interoperability among the different ethnic group without animosity... We need to start looking at the bigger picture - which is where we stand in the world as a group... United we stand and divided we fall..
We are not in this struggle together, we have given up on this country since 1967 but you have continued to hang your lives to ijaw oil.

shymexx: Lmao... Nah, I'm a full illiterate with access to computer and internet... However, Bob Marley actually did a lot for Jamaica - he single-handedly put Jamaica on the map... He fought for Jamaicans with his timeless music and wise words; inspired more than 5 generations of negroes in the struggle; never preached superiority among the maroons and other ethnicities in Jamaica; and he was in the trenches with his people and got his hands dirty with them... Bob Marley was more than a legend - he was an enigma - and people like him only visit this planet once in a life time...

Can you say the same about any Nigerian dead, or alive - apart from Fela Kuti?? (ALL INCLUSIVE)!!! grin grin tongue
Fela, the only thing we can remember him for are phucking his band members, wearing a pant around the streets, smoking marijuana, and dying of AIDS.

jas_o: Any bomb blast in any part of south west is the end of the fail nation call Nigeria. if any bomb blast in Yoruba land it is a call for war which will eventually give us what we all praying for. we are all tired of been together let forget forking. we need to split let no governor or president decceive you. An agent in US had predicted that there wont be Nigeria come 2015 and the situation on ground is a proof to that assertion,. Yoruba nation is ready for any deadly act by other region, we will fight the war for our next generation to leave normal life.
As usual, all talks and no action, bomb blast under lagos bridge and una no divide Nigeria. Do you think Obasanjo or Tinubu will like to leave oil money and die of hunger in their cocoa farms in Abeokuta?

shymexx: On what the late literary icon contributed to Nigeria...

I just need a list and how he helped change Nigeria....

Honestly, I'm looking for Nigerian role model because there's none at moment... Perhaps, you can sell the literary icon to me and convince me that he's the greatest Nigerian that ever lived by using his contributions to Nigeria as your selling-points..
I will offer to educate you, the only tuition fee you'll ever pay is to go and read "Things fall apart" most of the lecture topics I will teach you are contained in those pages.

The man tried to cure illiteracy and ignorance and I think you will benefit a lot from his wisdom. I await you.

inufele2: Remove the word 'brave' and change it to bitter, there is no bravery in abandoning your people to live comfortably in foreign land while continues to sow seeds of hatred and bigotry from afar and calling it the truth.
But is is bravery for an army general to cry like a little baby in front of Abacha? cheesy

shymexx: Bwhahahahahahaha

At the end of the day, that's also an achievement... There's no good or bad, everything just depends on your thought process... Heck, Hitler is on every list about the most powerful men ever to walk this planet... and certain people still justify what he did and they believe he did no wrong... wink

I'm who I'm - I don't need your accolades, mate.. grin
Which means it was right for awolowo to drink rat poison?

OliverPin: Sadly if any move on lagos... people would only shout about war The nation is confuse, we just need to pray and seek for solutions from God through our so-called leaders
God is already answering their prayers, he gave them Boko haram as answer to stopping the disintegration of Nigeria.

all4naija: It is like saying how many car accidents happen on our roads due to the introduction of cars into the country. There are cults all rather fraternities in all well known Universities around the world. The truth is that some Nigerians students with thier sense of savagery beliefs resort to killing fellow students for their own reasons. Why would such thing be blamed on Wole Soyinka?
Because he planted the evil tree that produced the poisoned fruits, he should take full responsibility.
PoliticsRe: Did Chinua Achebe Actually Do Anything To Promote Development In Nigeria? by 7842I: 5:35pm On Mar 24, 2013
shymexx: Give props where it's due - however stop overrating people... We as Nigerians need to raise the standards for those we call our icons and heroes - the standard is just appalling, at the moment...

Perhaps, that's why we have some of the most OVERRATED icons ever!!!

Take a look at the list of the REAL African heroes(those who actually fought for Africa) - isn't it shameful that there's not a single Nigerian on the listhuh
Instead, you are aiming to end your life as one of the 50 best African bigots.

funkybaby: No wonder he carried the secret to his grave. He couldn't bear to face the shame and backlash he would have gone through if it had been exposed while he was alive.

Imagine a whole BIAFRIAN warlord fathering a child with a Hausa lady undecided abomination IMO. lipsrsealed
Much better than Obj who kept sleeping with his sons wife, double abomination.

gbaky_floor: And what has Soyinka or Fela contributed to *an average Nigerian*? And I stress again, Soyinka is the reason youths in schools are killing themselves in Nigeria everyday. Fela is the reason, an average Nigeria is smoking weed (the weed has made some mentally deranged and a lot violent.

Chinuba Achebe on th other hand didn't cause any calamity even last book didn't. You are just an inconsequential critic.
Fela would keep seven girls and be phucking them at his shrine between puffs of indian hemp, yet he is ano idol for some tribes, smh.

Eko Ile: Tell your warped truth and spew your hatred for the next 40 years like ashebe and take your truth and anger to your grave like ashebe while your mates are doing something better for their lives, that's your head ache and destiny in life....life goes on just like it is ater ashebe.

Your choice...
Doing something better in this God forsaken land? The country is doing much worse and only people as brave as Achebe ca stand up and say the truth!
PoliticsRe: Did Chinua Achebe Actually Do Anything To Promote Development In Nigeria? by 7842I: 5:00pm On Mar 24, 2013
Eko Ile: People fight wars, heal and move on and we've all moved on. Ojuku himself came back and the first nigerian he visited was Awolowo, he reconciled with nigerians, got his family's property back and even contested for elected office here in Nigeria so what the fcukkkkk was ashebes problem.

Since the war, we've had top ibo public officials Nigeria from vice president to senate leader, house leader, party leader, senators reps, governors, ambassadors, ministers, SFG, agency directors, top military leaders and many more top positions in Nigeria, they are major players in arts and entertainment via nollywood, Yoruba land is home to millions of ibo where they are conducting busineses unhindered, ibo men and women have married Yoruba men and women, ibo folks are major public officials in Yoruba land.

Obviously, we've moved on and to claim otherwise is just ignorance and lack of truthfulness. Ashebe was a dead ender and in his heart of stone mind, the was was still raging on 40 years later so there must be continued hostilities, and enmity across Nigeria.

No war last that long and at some point based on the progress we've made and ibo peoples major participation in every aspects of day to today Nigeria, ashebe was on the wrong side of our present realities and we can not stay bitter, angry and divided because one man refused to let go and move one.

Lastly, the primary responsibility of any elder especially at ashebes age remains promoting peace and unity, not to keep promoting grudges and animosity against his own fellow countrymen. We go to elders for peace, we seek their guidance for togetherness, we look up to them harmony and peaceful co existence, not devisiveness, hate and constant highlighting of the things that we are trying to move away from.

And if any of you are into ashebes idea of endless war, hate mongering and devisiveness, you are on your own just like ashebe, you'll spew your hate garbage and go to your grave a bitter and angry man with zero peace and love of country and fellow man.
Fight, forget and move on when the reasons you fought for are still unchanged? Have you tried a career in dry comedy? grin

all4naija: When it is bad and Igbos are caught with crimes they claim to be Nigerians, but when they achieved something worth praising they claim to be Biafrans. Of what tricky is more of that than calling Yoruba bigotry?!
Thats diplomacy!

cogitoErgo: If OPC is ready to defend Yorubaland with their blood how come they sit there and allow BH to infiltrate Lagos and the whole of SW just for SSS and Army to come to the rescue?
Bunch of noise makers, do they think these people are recognisable? even in the north, your neighbour might be a BH member and you will not know!

afroxyz: OP I forever thank you for your post. I had an argument with a friend based on what you discussed not far long. As far as I am concerned Soyinka is the true Nigeria. Even after being imprisoned by the FG for trying to broker peace during the Biafran, he still served by forming the FRSC and accepted the award. He had nothing to lose in that war yet he risked his life. Okigbo fought for what he believed in and died for it. But what did Achebe do? Stay from his foreign base and spew hate and bile. That is why he never won the Nobel award. He was a great man in the literary circle, but he could not transcend his tribal notions. That is why his prodigee Chiamanda could have the audacity to say "I'm Igbo and African". She like her mentor did not believe in Nigeria. We don't need such people in our trying moments like this
Only a fool will believe in this ugly situation called Nigeria. The better you killed the Nigerian in you, the better for you.

Negro_Ntns: Im a Yoruba first...with everything that is packaged in it...then im a muslim next. When its time to slaughter Christians in SW im doing it on non-Yorubas living in Yorubaland. Yoruba blood is sacred to me.

Let us know when this cleansing you highly desire need to begin.
Terrorists no dey look face or ask questions before them kill you. If you are waiting to kill only non yoruba, Boko haram is looking at killing everybody and ending this entity called Nigeria, lets see how it plays out. Dont cry yet, you will have a lot of crying to do later.

Orblonde: With all this tribal hatred, Nigeria will surely collapse. The Easterners saw the writing on the wall since the 60s, infact the north saw it sooner.
My biggest surprise was why the yoruba failed to see we are very different from each other all these years? Well, boko haram will remind them!
