Controversial Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh has spoken concerning the war of words between Kemi Olunloyo and Linda Ikeji over the latter’s pregnancy. Kemi Olunloyo had on her Instagram accused Linda of wearing a prosthetic bump after she made a lengthy emotional post, chronicling her journey and her excitement when she found out she was pregnant. She said Ikeji was neither engaged nor pregnant. However, Linda in a post addressing Kemi Olunoyo’s claims, queried why someone who she helped while in prison could utter false claims about her pregnancy. Speaking on the recent face off, Tonto urged Kemi Olunloyo to use her motherly instinct, focus on making her life better and leave Linda alone. Tonto took to her Instagram page supporting Ikeji, stating that she remained a role model to many people no matter the criticisms concerning her pregnancy. She wrote; “All this negativity is the reason I Jejely went extremely private /personal during my pregnancy.. Not even my parents knew until I was 8months and far away from the world negativity and hate. “Carrying a baby is a very complicated process let alone carrying a baby with so much hate and negativity.. Let this lady breathe,She may not deserve your pity on tongue lashing but her baby sure deserves safety.Let them have one. “Worry more about your lives and how to push you forward.. Regardless Linda is a success whether fake bump or real bump,She will always remain a role model to millions even if it’s not to you. “Someone needs her,Her baby and they folk she mentors needs her. so those of you who don’t need her leave her alone.. “Children are a gift to mankind, Aunty Kemi I would really love to say a few things to you but nah I don’t want to come across as rude As I do not have a rude bone in me for you. “I will let sleeping dogs lie.But please draw from your motherly instinct and follow this with caution Ma.. @officiallindaikeji I am with you in prayers and as a woman I stand wit you. “Do have and enjoy the best pregnancy You can. Sad and bitter women leave your fellow woman alone. Women another woman isn’t your problem. God heal you all of all this Hurt and hatred. “Because you sin differently don’t make you right. THE REASON SOME WOMAN WILL ALWAYS BE UNDER AND NEVER REACH GREATNESS IS HATE, ENVY AND LACK OF JOY FOR THE NEXT WOMAN. “By the way, Linda I hope you know your BEST friends are behind all the faceless nameless account trolling your pregnancy? ‘STAY WOKE’.” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/05/tonto-dike-slams-to-kemi-olunloyo-over.html

Isaiah Chukwu, a spare parts dealer in Ladipo, Oshodi, allegedly killed his 26-year-old lover, identified only as Joy, at their residence on Balogun Street, Oshodi and stuffed her corpse into a bin, which he put in a sack. Punchng reports that Chukwu and Joy, both indigenes of Ebonyi State, had been living together for the past two years without formalising the relationship. He had dragged the body around 4am to the ground floor of the house en route to a dust bin when he was accosted by some youths. The youths, who were said to have been suspicious of the content of the sack, reportedly questioned him as the suspect shunned them. An Islamic cleric, who was passing by, was said to have opened the sack and discovered the corpse, which caused the mob to pounce on the suspect and beat him to a pulp. A trader said Chukwu had declared the victim missing some days earlier. He said, “When people went to the room after the woman’s corpse was discovered, the whole apartment was filled with perfume.” Some friends of the deceased said Joy adored Chukwu and spoke fondly of him. “They don’t fight. In fact, people always envied their relationship,” one of them said. A police source said Joy was stabbed in the back. . . He said, “We recovered a knife which he used for the crime and four mobile phones from the house. Although investigations are ongoing, we suspect it had to do with suspicion of infidelity. . . “The man said he had called her when he travelled and a man picked the call. He said the man queried him (Chukwu) for disturbing his wife.” The suspect, who spoke briefly, confirmed the source’s account. . . He said, “I travelled on Thursday. I called my wife around 11pm to know how she was faring. We exchanged pleasantries. Around 11.45pm, I called again, but she did not pick her calls. I called about 10 times, but she did not pick. Then I heard a man’s voice.” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/05/why-man-killed-his-fiancee-and-stuffed.html

The Coalition of Northern Groups on Monday in Kaduna asked President Muhammadu Buhari and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, who are above 70 years, not to contest the presidency of the country in 2019. The group said such leaders were responsible for where the country found itself, adding that the country should be led by young Nigerians that could take it to the Promised Land. The CNG’s position was contained in a communiqué it issued shortly after the end of a two-day summit which was held at the Arewa House, Kaduna on Monday. The coalition gave the Ndigbo a notice to leave the North last year . It however withdrew the notice to quit months later. Over 30 groups including the Nastura Ashir Sharif ‘s Arewa Citizens Action for Change); ShettimaYerima’s Arewa Youth Consultative Forum; Aminu Adam’s Arewa Youth Development Foundation; Alfred Solomon’s Arewa Students Forum; Abdul-Azeez Suleiman-led Northern Emancipation Network and the Northern Youth Vanguard led by Joshua Viashman, form the coalition. However, while fielding questions from journalists, a leader of the group and the National President of the AYCF, Alhaji Shettima Yerima, said it was the belief of the coalition, that though it was the right of Buhari and Atiku to contest, it was left for Nigerians to decide their fate. Yerima said on behalf of the CNG, “We advise him (Buhari) that we still have people within our generation who have integrity who are very competent and also have capacity to lead. We are advising him not to contest but if he chooses to go ahead to contest, Nigerians will go ahead to decide. This is our own opinion and advice to somebody whom we feel is a father to us. Anybody above 70 years should not contest.” When asked whether the advice had been extended to Atiku , he said, “ it extends to anybody above that age (70).” But the Presidency has challenged the Coalition of Northern Groups to cite the section of the nation’s constitution that stipulates that those above 70 years cannot contest the presidential seat. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, gave the challenge in an interview in reaction to the northern coalition’s call that Buhari and Atiku, who are above 70 years, should not contest the presidency of the country in 2019. He said the country was being governed by law, hence nobody’s constitutional right could be abridged for no just cause. The presidential spokesman said, “Let them tell us the section of the constitution that stops those above 70 years from contesting. As you know, the country is governed by law and the President has not breached any law by showing interest in the race. “If they want to contest, they are free to come out and do so. The President is not stopping anybody from contesting against him.” Attempts to get a reaction from former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar were unsuccessful. A communiqué read on behalf of the CNG by its spokesman, Alhaji Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, said the summit basically centered on restructuring of the country as being clamoured by some Nigerians. The coalition said it opted for a holistic “restructuring” of the country. It lamented the attitude of northern political leaders to the contentious issue of restructuring of the country. The CNG also dismissed both the Northern Governors’ Forum Committee on Restructuring and the Governor Nasir el-Rufai’s Committee on Restructuring by the APC-led government, saying that Nigeria neither belonged to the APC nor the PDP. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/05/check-janet-jackson-first-black-woman.html

Nine months after resigning his position as the Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, the lawmaker representing Lokoja I, Hon. Imam Ahmed Umar has expressed concerns over the deliberate mismanagement of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State. The lawmaker made this known while hosting hundreds of youths from Lokoja-Kogi Federal constituency in his Lokoja residence on Monday. Imam decried what he termed persistent humiliation from his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). The lawmaker who was elected under the platform of the APC in 2015 said he had been shut out from all party related activities in the state down to his own ward. Imam, who expressed regrets over the manner party affairs are running under the current leadership, warned that APC is working very hard towards losing next elections in Kogi state. The former speaker who is an aspirant in the upcoming bye election for Lokoja-Kogi Federal constituency said he was watching unfolding events in the party with keen interest. He, however, warned that anything short of free and fair party primaries to elect a candidate for the bye-election may force some of them to seek platform outside the APC. Describing the bye election as accidental, following the death of late Deputy Majority Leader, Federal House of Representative, Arc. Baba Jibril, Imam noted that more than five political parties had approached him to contest under their platform. He said he was aware of an anointed candidate for the bye-election by agent of government but insisted that primaries must be conducted in accordance with the constitution of the APC. “I am aware that someone has been anointed. Even the candidate came to my house to inform me that he has been anointed. But I told him we will meet in the field. “When we joined APC, we had high hopes that things will be done differently. We promised people change, a paradigm shift from the old order, but current happenings in the party are not encouraging, to say the least,” he said. According to him, Labour Party, Accord, SDP, ADP and one other have reached out to him offering their platform for his House of Reps aspiration. He said his final decision will be predicated on what his constituents want. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/05/what-apc-is-doing-to-me-in-kogi-ex.html

Former Vice president, Atiku Abubakar, former Minister of Information and Orientation Jerry Gana and some other key politicians on Sunday paid solidarity visits to the embattled Senator representing Plateau North in the National Assembly, Jonah Jang, in prison. Their visits came about five days after Justice Daniel Longji of the Plateau State High Court in Jos ordered Jang’s remand in the prison custody after being arraigned by Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) on a 12-count charge of alleged corruption and misappropriation of N6.3 billion . Among those who visited Jang in prison included Chief Chris Giwa and other prominent members of the Peoples Democratic Party. Others include his colleagues in the National Assembly. It was gathered that most of the politicians during their visit, donated money to the prison for the welfare of the inmates. During the interdenominational church service held on Sunday, Jang was said to have prayed and preached to the congregation which had almost all the commissioners who were in his cabinet in attendance. He was said to have settled the backlog of electricity bills and settled fines for over 50 inmates. Jang, a serving senator, allegedly embezzled special funds released to the state by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, two months to the end of his tenure as governor in 2015. He was specifically alleged to have pocketed N2billion released by the CBN for disbursement to small and medium scale enterprises in the state under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Funds, MSMEDF, just a month before the expiration of his tenure in April 2015. The former governor was also said to have abused his office as the governor by collecting money to the tune of N4.3billion from the state coffers through the cashier in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Yusuf Gyang Pam. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/05/alleged-fraud-atiku-gana-others-visit.html

Godwin Nwachukwu, Bayelsa Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), said on Sunday that the command arrested 30 suspects over various offences between January and April. Nwachukwu said in Yenagoa that the suspects were arrested for pipeline vandalism, oil theft and diversion of refined products. According to him, investigations into the alleged offences were at various stages and that the suspects would be prosecuted afterwards. Nwachukwu said the command had however ensured reduction of pipeline vandalism and sabotage on oil infrastructure in its area of operation. According to him, some oil firms operating in the state had confirmed the reduction of the incidents at their oil fields. “We have had oil companies confirm that our operation had stabilised their activities, leading to uninterrupted oil production. “Agip at a time suspended operations in Bayelsa due to high levels of oil theft. But only last week, the management of the company commended the improvement in security. “We are however not leaving anything to chance. Our strategy is to keep our operatives actively engaged in constant patrols to deter vandals. “There is also cordial relationship with sister security services; we often collaborate with each other in fighting crime,’’ he said. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/05/nscdc-arrests-30-pipeline-vandals-oil.html

Eden Hazard inspired Chelsea to a 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday. But he was all business at England’s national stadium as he turned the first half into an ordeal for Phil Jones – the United defender whose clumsy foul meant Hazard won and converted a 22nd-minute penalty. United improved upon a tepid showing after the break and Alexis Sanchez had a goal ruled out for offside, but even the late introduction of Romelu Lukaku on his return from an ankle injury could not force an equaliser. It meant a sweet victory for Antonio Conte over his rival Jose Mourinho on what could prove his farewell outing as Chelsea coach, with the FA Cup a notable consolation after their Premier League title defence slumped to a fifth-place finish. As in the semi-final win over Tottenham, David de Gea was preferred to United’s regular cup goalkeeper Sergio Romero and the Spain international was called upon in the ninth minute. Read Also: FA Cup: Chelsea v Man Utd preview, team news Jones gave away possession and Tiemoue Bakayoko set Hazard running at the backpedalling England defender, who he skipped past and forced De Gea to save with his right boot at the near post. Bakayoko and Sanchez had half-hearted penalty appeals turned down but there was little doubt for referee Michael Oliver when he later pointed to the United spot. An utterly hapless start to the game continued for Jones, who blundered through Hazard as the Belgium star darted around him after bringing Cesc Fabregas’ lofted pass under his spell. Conte was furious on the touchline after Jones was only yellow carded – in line with the International Football Association Board update brought in from last season – but Hazard was a picture of calmness as he stroked home, sending De Gea the wrong way. Jones had a chance to make amends but headed wide at the far post from Ashley Young’s left-wing cross, with United belatedly arriving as an attacking force in the closing minutes of the half. Read Also: FA Cup: Chelsea v Man Utd preview, team news Antonio Rudiger blocked well from Marcus Rashford after Paul Pogba drove a counter-attack in stoppage time. Mourinho’s side enjoyed their first sustained spell of pressure early in the second half, with Ander Herrera liberated from attempting to shackle Hazard and lending greater impetus to United’s midfield play. Thibaut Courtois beat away a drive from Rashford and Pogba saw a deflected 57th-minute shot loop behind, before Nemanja Matic scuffed wide wastefully against his former club. The pressure looked to have told in the 63rd minute but Sanchez was fractionally offside – a decision confirmed by VAR – when he prodded in after Courtois denied Jones. Chelsea attacks had become a rarity by the time N’Golo Kante marauded forward and played in Marcos Alonso. The wing-back was denied by his countryman De Gea and Young escaped penalty claims for handball as Chelsea followed up. Courtois denied Rashford one against one before the England forward made way for Lukaku, and Mourinho would no doubt have preferred a glorious 82nd-minute headed chance fell to the Belgian as opposed to Pogba. Veteran actor, Saidi Balogun has given his opinion concerning acting pornographic movies. According to him, there’s no big deal in playing such roles. He gave his reasons in a chat with Saturday Beats seen below. He said, “There is virtually no movie role I cannot act. There is no big deal acting in a soft pornographic movie, it all depends on the pocket of the producer. However, if I am to act in such a movie, you would not see my ‘Tom Jones’ or my ‘Baba Jamal.’ I don’t really want to go into that so that my colleagues that are doing that would not turn me into their enemy. The only time I can reject a movie role is if the script is not good or it is too ordinary, I call them, “normacine capsule”. No big deal acting in a pornographic movie - Saidi Balogun He said that despite the fact that he has acted in several amorous scenes, he has never been aroused. “Affection comes from the heart and if you are my colleague on a movie set, kissing and touching you would not mean a thing to me because I do not have any feelings for you and I am just doing my job and nothing more. I have never been confronted with a situation whereby a colleague would want to extend an amorous scene outside the movie set,” Balogun said. The actor revealed that he has had so many reactions from fans based on the way he portrays his movie roles. He shared an experience with Saturday Beats in which a woman gave him a deep kiss in the presence of her husband. “There are so many things that fans have done to me, too many. There was a day I was walking on the road and all of a sudden, a lady hugged me from the back. When I turned around, she gave me a kiss and told me that she loved the way I interpret roles. After she had done that, she introduced me to her husband who was standing in a corner and the young man simply said that I was his wife’s ‘husband’ for that day. The only thing that came to my mind was that she was lucky she was not my wife. If not, I knew what I would have done to her. “Also, there was a time a man saw me and began to rain curses on me in Yoruba language. He said he just loved the way I interpret roles. I was not upset because that is the best way he knows how to express his emotions,” the movie star said. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/05/no-big-deal-acting-in-pornographic.html

According to documents obtained by SaharaReporters, the wife of Bamikole Omisore, Special Adviser on International Relations to Senate President Bukola Saraki, has been receiving monthly salaries of N151,788 from the Senate without rendering any service to the National Assembly It was gathered that since 2015, Abiola Aiyegbayo, has been a ghost worker who never worked for the Nigerian senate for one day and has been receiving the funds for doing absolutely nothing while she also receives salary as a registered nurse in the US, where she lives. In a petition sent to the US Department, signed by Mr Olanrewaju Suraju, its Chairman, HEDA, relying on an April 22 publication by PUNCH, had written: “Documents submitted to the EFCC showed that Omishore, who has been working with Senator Saraki since 2015, allegedly listed his wife as a Grade Level 12 employee of the National Assembly, though she is confirmed to be a nurse in the United States. “The petition, signed by Abba El-Mustapha on behalf of Youths United against Corruption in Nigeria, claimed that Omishore’s wife had been collecting salaries to the tune of N150,000 for nearly three years through her Guaranty Trust Bank account 0147896921 with the name ‘Abiola Aiyegbayo’. “Documents made available to SUNDAY PUNCH showed that most of the salary payments were made on the same day, thereby arousing suspicion. For example, the salaries for January, with file number S0723 and February 2017 also with file number S0723, were paid on April 10, 2017.” The original petition referenced by HEAD read in part: “Documents made available by a whistle-blower showed that Mr. Bamikole Omishore, one of the aides to Senate President Bukola Saraki, has made millions of Naira through the complex but criminal scheme “Omishore registered his US-based wife, Abiola Omishore, on the payroll of the National Assembly, using her maiden name, Abiola Joy Aiyegbayo. Her social media accounts and even posts by her husband proved that she is not based in Nigeria.” The petitioner was said to have further alleged that Omishore’s wife had an identity card showing she was an employee of the National Assembly, while all her profiles online never reflected that she had worked with the Assembly. True to the claims by HEDA, documents obtained by SaharaReporters show that Saraki’s aide’s wife was registered on the legislative aides payroll of the Senate. January and February pay slips — samples of what went down in three years — show that she received a Consolidated Salary of 124,411.75 and a Peculiar Allowance of N27, 377, totaling a gross pay of N151,788.75. However, Net Pay stood at N138,550.19. The payments were made through Guarantee Trust Bank Area 3, Abuja, with Account Name Abiola Aiyegbayo and Account Number 0147896921. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/05/how-senate-paid-abiola-aiyegbayo.html

Call for sack of health minister, walk out of negotiations Paul Obi in Abuja The Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) thursday called on health workers in Lagos, Kano and Yobe States to relax the ongoing indefinite strike in their domain following the cooperation of the governors from the above states. The move to relax the strike in Lagos, Kano and Yobe States was as a fallout of the positive responses from the state governments in addressing several demands made by JOHESU. Speaking with journalists last night, JOHESU Chairman, Biobelemoye Josiah, explained: “It is paramount we seize this discourse to specially convey deep appreciation to state governments which have gone ahead to meet the various clamours and terms of settlement in agreements with government. This include Yobe and Lagos State which have now adjusted the CONHESS scale as demanded. “We specially commend the Lagos State Government for approving the consultancy cadre for pharmacists in its employment. Just like the Niger State Government did with pharmacists since 2012. “The JOHESU also expresses gratitude to the Kano State Government for ensuring good welfare package for its healthcare workforce in addition to the intervention of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to ameliorate the on-going strike. We urge our members in Lagos, Yobe and Kano State to tactically relax the strike to accommodate emergency services in those states as a measure of goodwill. “JOHESU wishes to declare once again that the crux of our clamour has always been restoration of the relativity in the CONHESS and CONMESS scale which was deliberately distorted with active government collaboration in 2014. We remain steadfast that in alignment with democratic norms and the rule of law, this desire remains very legitimate.” They also took a swipe at the Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, demanding that the federal government terminate his appointment as a minister. They stated that “the Federal Ministry of Health as presently led by Prof. Isaac Adewole has constituted itself as a major hindrance to fruitful deliberation as he has never disguised his intention to symbolise the propaganda machine of the NMA through his posturing at all our meetings, which necessitated JOHESU to take a position that the negotiations were structured to fail ab-initio. “Prof. Adewole is on record to have insisted that the wage structure in the health sector must reckon with what was obtainable in the 1991 late Prof. Olukoye Ransome – Kuti’s dual salary system (MSS and HSS) which marked the beginning of persistent acrimony until it was corrected through the Harmonised Tertiary. “The duo of the Ministers of Labour and Health who are both members of the NMA have taken a position that parity must entail a basic salary differential in the emolument of health professionals and their doctor colleagues. “On May 15, 2018, JOHESU came up with a comprehensive presentation to graphically showcase the realities of the various salary scales in the health sector from 1977 till date. “Even when the reality on ground shows that a fresh doctor presently enters the public service on CONMESS 3 which is the equivalent of GL 12 with a take home monthly package ofN313,000,00 per month, the closest in line who are health professionals enter public service on CONHESS 9 which is the equivalent of GL 10 with a package of N161,670.00 with a proposal to have an adjustment that takes him to a total emolument ofN190,000.00, the two ministers who are members of NMA have taken positions that these health professionals seek parity with doctors. In mathematical terms this is a significant 61 per cent differential.” Josiah who was accompanied by JOHESU Secretary, Ekpebor Florence, stressed that should President Muhaamadu Buhari fail to remove Prof. Adewole from office, the minister, they argued would remained “a major threat to public health especially at a time that the dreaded Ebola disease is currently rampaging in some African countries. “The federal government must energise the deadlocked negotiations between the JOHESU and Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment with genuine conciliators who have national interest. Specifically, a befitting budget to offset the already compromised three options presented by JOHESU to the federal government on May 16, 2018, must be made available through interventions facilitated by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF),” they maintained. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/05/health-workers-relax-strike-in-lagos.html

The Nigerian ambassador t Israel received a query for his alleged presence at the inauguration of the United States of America’s embassy in Jerusalem. According to the Cable, the Ambassador reacted stating that he was not at the event. Recall that Al-Jazeera, a news outlet, had claimed that Nigeria was represented at the inauguration of the Jerusalem embassy. Most embassies are located in Tel-Aviv and the decision to move America’s embassy to Jerusalem, which was a symbolic move by the USA recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, has elicited a lot of criticism for American President Donald Trump. Israel and Palestine have been locked in a debate over which country Jerusalem belongs to and other sovereign nations have taken the pacifist route by respecting the rights of the Palestinians over Jerusalem. According to the Cable, an official from the Presidency, while speaking with journalists on the condition of anonymity, said that Geoffrey Onyeama, minister of foreign affairs, has queried the ambassador, for reportedly attending the event. “Based on that report (Al-Jazeera), the minister queried the ambassador to explain why he attended the event,” the official said. “The ambassador has since replied that he was not at the event. It was on the strength of the ambassador’s response that the federal government wrote to Al Jazeera to retract its story.” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/05/ambassador-receives-query-from-fg-over.html

Elder statesman and First Republic Minister Mbazulike Amaechi has likened the Igbo to beetle that cannot be crushed. Amaechi admitted that Igbos in the country are being marginalized, while alleged ploy by the President Muhammadu Buhari’s government to wipe out the Igbo. He however noted that in spite of hatred against Igbos, they always excel at whatever they do. He told Daily Independent over the weekend that, “The Igbo are marked out for elimination in this country particularly by the present administration of the North. But the Igbo are like the beetle, they cannot be crushed. “You march on the beetle and when you remove your heavy boot, the beetle keeps going. The Igbo will keep going, we fought 33 months civil war without anything against the whole world and survived, and we fought the whole Arab world for 33 months and survived, so the Igbo will survive again” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/05/buhari-planning-genocide-against-igbos.html

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige has said that contrary to the voting pattern in 2015 where Anambra voters favoured the Peoples Democratic party, PDP, with their votes, 2019 would see a clear departure from such practice. Ngige said the 2019 presidential election would see Anambra people voting massively for President Muhammadu Buhari. The minister, who was addressing the newly elected local government executives of the party at Ojoto, Idemili South local government area of the state, urged them to get down to work to ensure that Buhari garners over 70 per cent of votes cast in the state. He expressed optimism that President Muhammadu Buhari will be re-elected in the 2019 general elections. The minister, who hails from the area, said Buhari has done so well to merit re-election. He said, “I stand before you today to say Mr President has done so well in all ramifications. He will be returned by Nigerians in 2019 in a landslide victory.” Ngige said the APC would contest all elective positions in the general elections. He hailed the party for what he called smooth and peaceful local government congresses held in the 21 LGAs of the state on Saturday. He said contrary to what the “prophets of doom” had expected, the APC in the state had a hitch-free local government congresses. Also speaking, National treasurer of the APC, Chief George Moghalu commended the party for the peaceful conduct of the LGA congresses in the state. He said, “I’m very optimistic the same good conduct will be witnessed during the state congresses”. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/05/2019-anambra-will-give-buhari-70.html

The turn of events at the botched governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party in Ekiti State penultimate Saturday is a sad reminder of a society yet to learn anything from its tottering 20 years democratic journey. For a people fixated only on what they are able to excavate from their ‘dying country’ and not what they could do to alleviate its pitiful state and record their names against the good memories of history, they might be doomed as the guinea pig of events of history. That a process had begun in earnest and smooth and suddenly, some persons, for reasons other than self-aggrandisement chose to undo the process by disrupting an otherwise peaceful exercise exposes some of the characters that are helplessly the enemies of progress and democracy. Ekiti APC fumbled during that exercise and they are going to live with the stigma for years to come, even though a rerun eventually held yesterday. But the show they put up penultimate Saturday was simply irresponsible and shameful! http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/05/just-in-ekiti-apcs-show-of-shame.html

Veteran Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson recently opened up on divorce rumours which made waves on the internet earlier in the year. The dark skinned actress was rumoured to have issues threatening her marriage after she deleted his photos at the time. Though she debunked the rumours by posting a romantic time with her boo, explaining that she felt those photos were old and needed new ones. During a recent interview with Saturday Beats, Mercy Johnson answered questions brought to her in that light and she said; “I did not feel bad when I read the news that my marriage was hitting the rocks because it was not true. “I am very comfortable in my own space and I am not out to please anybody. I am always true to myself and I continue to be a happy person. “There was absolutely no problem between my husband and me, I only deleted the old pictures on my Instagram page. They were old so I deleted them to post new ones. “I am not letting my husband go; even when he is angry, I would beg him. “You see these beautiful rings that he has given to me, I am never returning them,” she said. The mother of three further revealed that her visit to the labour room was not over as she hopes to have another child. “I am going to have another baby very soon. I am obsessed with children and while growing up, I had always wanted to have four children, so we have to complete the equation,” she said. The actress who doubles as the Senior Special Assistant on Entertainment, Arts and Culture in Kogi State was eager to speak about her most recent project which is a movie title, ‘The Lamb.’ The movie which is subtitled in Igala language, tells the story of a legendary Igala princess warrior, who, despite being the pride of her father and loved by her people, had to be sacrificed for peace. “Not only does ‘The Lamb,’ stand out in terms of its plot and world-class production, it also evokes ancient memories in the most compelling manner. “It is a thoroughly researched work that also brings to the fore, the ancient cultural relationship between the Igala people and the Edos. “One of such initiatives is the Kogi State Diaries which seeks to harness the media as a tool for telling the story of the people of the state and showcasing their cultural diversity to a global audience. “The movie is co-sponsored by the Kogi State Government and directed by Frank Rajah Arase. “Quite a number of upcoming acts that participated in Governor Yahaya Bello’s talent hunt show also featured in the movie. “It has not been easy combining my roles as an actress, representative of Kogi State, a mother and a wife but I describe myself as a home girl and everything has always been about a system of priority for me. “So God comes first, my family and then work; God and my family have to be settled before we can talk about work because when I am not happy at home, “I cannot function in whatever capacity I ought to function, so I have always followed my priorities. “As I speak with you, if I get a call from my kids’ school and they inform me that something happened, I would leave everything I am doing and rush there http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/05/mercy-johnson-opens-up-on-divorce.html

An employee of Maydon Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Mr Uchenna Okagwu, on Friday told an Ikeja High Court how he paid 232,000 Euros (about N99.76 million) to alleged kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, alias Evans, to secure the release of an abductee. Okagwu said that he paid the sum to the Nnewi, Anambra-born kidnapper, to secure the release of his kidnapped boss, Mr Donatus Dunu, the Managing Director of the Maydon Pharmaceuticals Ltd. Evans, who is facing trial alongside Uche Amadi, Ogechi Uchechukwu, Okwuchukwu Nwachukwu, Chilaka Ifeanyi and Victor Aduba. Okagwu, a Manager at Maydon Pharmaceuticals Ltd., while being led in evidence by Ms Titilayo Shitta-Bey, the Director of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, said that Evans and his gang threatened him that any mistake made in the delivery of the ransom would cost him his life. “I have been working with Maydon Pharmaceuticals Company for over seven years, after we heard of the kidnap of Mr Donatus Dunu, we waited to hear from the kidnappers so we know what to do to rescue him. “As the manager of the Idumota branch, we worked towards raising money for the kidnappers when they asked for ransom. “After about two months, I was called by Anselem Dunu, the brother of Mr Donatus, to deliver 232, 000 euros that was raised to the kidnappers. “After counting the money, we put it in a polythene bag and wrapped it very well with cello tape and I went with the money. “Mr Anselm gave me his phone that they would use it to direct me to where I would take the ransom. “I started receiving calls with the phone from the kidnappers, who warned that I should make no mistakes that if I do, I would be shot. Okagwu in his evidence, gave a step by step account of how he delivered the ransom to Evans. He said: “I was asked if I knew the way towards Mile 2 and I said yes. I went with the money inside the vehicle, putting the money under the passengers’ seat in the front and I moved towards Mile 2. “I received another call and I asked if I should follow Oshodi Isale or Oshodi Oke they said I should follow Oshodi Oke. “I was driving slowly so I entered service lane so I won’t cause traffic. I left the house before 8 p.m. I was asked to enter the express when I got to Ijesha so they will not collect the money from me.” “I was asked if I know the eatery at Apple Junction, called Tank and Tummy and I said yes and was told to park there. “I waited for about 15 to 20 minutes and was directed to move to Apple Junction at Festac and I was asked to put on the inner light of the vehicle and drive slowly. “I was directed towards Okota and was told to get to a street immediately after the canal where commercial motorcyclists stay. “I was asked to drive down the street and was asked to describe everything I see and should tell them when I see a blinking light on an electric pole. “I was told to turn back at a point and go left from where I entered. I was told to turn back again towards where I came from to the end of the street and told to turn back again. “At a point, I was asked to park, get down from the vehicle with the ransom and walk back. “As I walked to the back of my vehicle and I was three steps away, I was asked to drop the ransom, I did so and was told to move immediately after dropping the money. “As I looked around, I only saw a vehicle parked at the beginning of the street with full lights on, the vehicle looked like an SUV.” During cross-examination, Mr Olukoya Ogungbeje, the Defence Counsel to Evans, Amadi, Uchechukwu and Nwachukwu, asked Okagwu if he saw anyone when he dropped off the ransom. Answering, Okagwu denied seeing anyone when he was delivering the ransom, adding that he did not give the money directly to any person. Defence Counsel to Ifeanyi, Mr A.A. Uzoukwu and Aduba, Mr Emmanuel Ochai, declined to cross-examine Okagwu. Earlier during proceedings, Ogungbeje had told the court that he would refrain from further cross-examining Dunu, the kidnap victim on the grounds that he refused to answer his questions. Ogungbeje claimed Dunu preferred to give answers to questions he (Dunu) had formulated in his mind. “Since the second prosecution witness is not willing to answer the questions I pose to him in this cross-examination and my complaints to the court in this regard are not considered, I shall stop further cross-examination,” Ogungbeje said. Responding to Ogungbeje’s submission, Justice Hakeem Oshodi said: “It is quite unfortunate that the legal counsel can make such statement that the witness is not answering his questions. “It is his prerogative to conduct his defence as he deems fit. The court hereby closes cross-examination on behalf of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th defendants and call on the counsel for the 5th defendant to cross-examine the witness. ” Uzoukwu and Ochai also declined to cross-examine Dunu. Re-examining Dunu, Shitta-Bey asked him to clarify what he meant about the disparity in dates written in his statement to the police being a mistake. He said: “When I wrote the statement, it was immediately after I escaped. I wasn’t myself at that point that is why I made the mistake of writing April 14, instead of Feb.14 as my capture date,” Dunu said. Oshodi adjourned the case until June 22 for continuation of trial. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/05/how-i-paid-evans-232000-euros-for.html

Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, has revealed plans to jail the incumbent governor of Oyo state, Abiola Ajimobi, when he assumes office as governor of the state come 2019. According to him, the incumbent governor is frustrating his ambitions because he knows what awaits him if he should eventually become governor of the state. ”Ajimobi has failed in so many things including human relations and others I cannot say openly in the media. Why is he afraid of going to jail if another Buhari like me comes to power in Oyo state? Why is he afraid of primaries? For seven years, he has been running the Local Governments alone without elected officers. What it means is that the LGA funds come directly into his pocket. He committed so many atrocities and that is why he is afraid of a Buhari coming to power in Oyo state. I want to say that if anybody is desperate in the Oyo political firmament, it should be Gov. Ajimobi who believes that if Barr. Shittu succeeds him, he will be in jail. That is what he is reported to have always told people who mentioned me to him. I will jail Abiola Ajimobi when I become Oyo governor – Adebayo Shittu He thinks that I am too principled, firm, unbendable and uncompromising when it comes to issues of morality. It is he who is desperate to stop me not me being desperate to become governor. The rules are clearly there and like somebody who believes in the rule as a lawyer and man of law and order, if I follow the rules to contest the primaries in a free, fair and credible poll and did not win, I will take up something else. I am not desperate to become the Governor of Oyo state. It is the other way round because the governor is desperate to stop me for whatever reason”, Adebayo Shittu said http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/05/i-will-jail-abiola-ajimobi-when-i.html

Every Sunday, we set out to feed at least 500 underprivileged kids. We always surpass that number though. The least we have done is 700. People keep asking how long we will keep this up. My answer is ‘as long as God gives us sustenance’. Thanks @knorrnigeria for coming with us on this journey I’m making my mama proud.” She said. The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced new date for Ekiti State governorship primaries. The spokesman of the party, Bolaji Abdullahi, told newsmen on Tuesday that the primary election will hold on Friday May 11th, 2018. Abdullahi, said the primary will still be conducted by the Governor Tanko Al- Makura led Committee, the only exception being the substitution of secretary of the committee. DAILY POST recalls that the primary election, which held on Saturday was suspended indefinitely over violence that erupted on alleged fraud being perpetrated by a particular aspirant. They smashed ballot boxes and prevented delegates from voting. Only delegates from four local government areas had concluded their voting. It was the turn of the fifth council when the violence erupted . Trouble started at about 5.30pm when some agents raised observations about how the process was being allegedly compromised, accusing men of the Department of State Services (DSS) of dictating to delegates who they should vote for. Police and other security agencies shot sporadically into the air when the situation was escalating into a full blown violence among the camps. More to follow. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/05/apc-announces-new-date-for-ekiti.html

Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku, yesterday differed with President Muhammadu Buhari on the statement that herdsmen do not carry guns. Ishaku spoke in Abuja when he received an award from the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) in Abuja on health care service delivery. The governor explained that due to the continuing attacks by Fulani herdsmen, the health sector in the state has been affected negatively. Ishiaku maintained that herdsmen carry arms and not sticks as the president would want the whole world to believe. Buhari had told his American audience during the bilateral talks with United States President, Donald Trump, that the Fulani herdsmen that he knew did not carry guns, blaming the killings on returning militia who had been armed by the late Libyan leader, Mummar Gadaffi Ishaku observed that there must have been some contradiction, wondering if they don’t carry arms as claimed by the president, then who are the ones brandishing AK47 rifles and killing locals. Ishaku contended that Buhari’s statement was “absolutely not correct.” “I mean who kills who? They cannot be imaginary. People are being killed with AK 47 rifles and we have to stand up and do something to stop it. “The insecurity has certainly put a lots of pressure on our health care facilities, much more than we anticipated and we have almost 150,000 displaced persons “In the North-east, Taraba State used to be relatively peaceful before now. We are having our own share of the herdsmen problem and that has added a lot of pressure on our health services. Which means we have to do more, we have to employ more doctors, nurses and specialists.” Speaking on the NMA award, Ishaku said it would only motivate him and his administration to do more. “This award is very elevating, it is an award that will spur us to do more. You know we are on our first term, and this is my third year in office. “We are reconstructing or rehabilitating three hospitals in the three senatorial zones of the state and we are putting some of the local government unit in shape. Most importantly, we are equipping them as much as we can with modern equipment. “So I’m surprised that the NMA has noticed so quickly what we are doing in just three years. We thank God and we will do more to keep our people healthy. Health is wealth,” he said. The governor alongside two of his counterparts, Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State and Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe State, were among the dignitaries who received the awards. Also, the wife of Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Zainab Shinkafi- Bagudu, received the NMA award for her contribution to health care service delivery. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/05/ishaku-differs-with-buhari-says.html
