Power generation is now off the execuive list, so every state should follow Abia and build their own power stations. To hell with this centralized model, which only exisits to fleece the south for the benefit of the North. Let every state take care of itself. No more yeye national grid that never works anyway

This country sef.

All these adjustments on a mere 4000MW? So, people outside this "big boy" Band A will experience more darkness or what?

For context:

This N226 naira per KPH is about 15 cents per kilowatt hour. The minimum wage in Nigeria is N30,000 monthly

North Dakota pays about 10 cents per kilowatt hour. Minimum wage in North Dakota is $7.25 per hour (N1.3 million naira monthly).

Texas pays about 15 cents per kilowatt hour. Minimum wage in Texas is $7.25 per hour (N1.3 million naira monthly).

Thanks for the stats. I don't think Tinubu has good economists around him. He's always in a hurry to remove subsidy, knowing fully well that Nigerians don't even earn enough to afford basic amenities.

So only the rich will have 20 hours of electricity in Nigeria? Meanwhile $7.25 per hour is for the poor in the US, almost nobody earns that, the poorest people earn like $10 or more

There is a very big disconnect between this government and the people. Increasing Tarrifs for poor people / low income earner is not a good one.

How much are people earning in the country. A lot of people don’t even have jobs now to talk about the old and vulnerable people in the society. Can someone tell baba Chicago that we are not in Chicago.

This group of persons will be unaffected by the tariff increase as you wrongly assume.

I feel for you. Who are in the band A group? Industrial estates and production lines, hospitals and public institutions.

What happens when there operational cost increases? The cost is spread across causing increase in prices of goods and services.

Now I ask? I bu ewụ?

With all these vain analysis, you miserably missed converting #30000 minimum wage to dollars while struggling to give us the ignoble raised rate in dollars to make the sure impact of no effects.

Subsidy is how the rulers give part of the nations resources to its people....no matter how small.........

But the government has successfully used "Subsidy is not sustainable" propaganda to make u the masses gullibly think and accept u don't deserve to enjoy any portion of ur country's wealth....

But they can buy bullet proof cars...fly abroad for healthcare, live on fat allowances, collect security vote which is embezzle the rest...

Subsidy on education...removed..
Health...removed...
Electricity..removed..
Crude oil products...removed .
Exchange rate...removed...

What exactly is masses getting back from this govement..despite increase in tax, low salary, and dangerously high cost of living....

This is a good news in a way if you can understand it. What the Electricity Regulatory Commission did was to stop the discos from charging customers excessively when the average hours of electricity they enjoy is less than 20hrs daily. Then increase the tariff for those who truly enjoy 20 hours of electricity to cover for the revenue loss from the downgraded customers.

Where it will have ripple effect is the production cost that will spread across the board

With what salary will an average Nigerian man or woman pay to afford electric power? Payment for kilowatt doesn't distinguish between band A and band whatever, because what you buy per kilowatt is same. Who is therefore deceiving who?
