IMHO, tax-payers money can be put to better use... What happened to housing facilities or creating enabling environment for entrepreneurs to improve upon their skills and earn legitimate income... Pedestrian bridge is perfect, let the money for AirconditioningSystem be invested in fitting this bridge wit CCTV camera and we can curb crime on the pedestrian bridge and arnd IBARA too... Solar panels will also be effective in generating the required power-source...

Mr. Amosun made the disclosure while commissioning the 2.5km Ibara-Ita-Eko road in Abeokuta which gulped a total of N1.3bn

Never knew road construction could be this expensive.
Re: Ogun State To Construct Air-conditioned Pedestrian Bridge. by CuteTj(m): 11:29am On May 30, 2012
Constructing an enclosed bridge is modern and a good idea but installing airconditioners in it in present day Nigeria is sheer stupidity given that Nigeria is not known to have proper maintenance culture. Governments in Nigeria should instead seek for ways to improve the economic situations of its citizens and not embark on unecessary fanciful stuffs that don't add value to lives.

Re: Ogun State To Construct Air-conditioned Pedestrian Bridge. by bakila: 11:30am On May 30, 2012
Gbawe:
Usually, some pedestrian bridges are totally enclosed for safety reasons especially when they link malls and or buildings. If the design decision is that an enclosed footbridge works best, then it must be cooled also. I am not saying I support this but we should not condemn it routinely either without knowledge of the entire scope of the project.

Enclosed airconditioned footbridges , such as that seen below, are common and can be a design/architechural neccessity in relation to what will be linked. We just don't know enough to be entirely negative.

Re: Ogun State To Construct Air-conditioned Pedestrian Bridge. by niddamugu(m): 11:36am On May 30, 2012
The Gov. should tell us the average time one spends crossing the bridge - 1hr, 30mins or 3mins (max). Why do we need the AC for goodness sake? I won't be surprised if they start building toilets on them.
