Just picked up my galaxy S4. Seems it's the 'Octa-core' variant Samsung is selling in Nigeria. Benchmarks higher than the Qualcomm versions so i'm not complaining grin

If anyone is interested in picking up a clean Note II for 63k and a clean 32GB S3 for 55k, lemme know grin

Insalling a custom rom on my galaxy tab p3100 and iT has been failing. I have recovery.tar.md5 flashed with odin and but installing from sd card keeps failing. Due to this I have flashed stock rom and even done factory reset but it keeps failing.
What can I do about this?

I can't install custom rom from my memory card, it keeps failing. Three different downloads, please help

Quad core version is US only, everywhere else is octa core.

Just tired of upgrading...only thing that might tip me over is GPL 3 (for dolphin wii) which is still in very early stages.

Apart from that, I think the improvements are just a tad bit marginal.

UK version is Qualcomm too. So basically the two biggest markets for Samsung are making do with the quad core version.

I see that...must be a trade off to snag the 4G/LTE market in those 2 countries.

D.A.V.E:

abeg i get challenge with my note1 battery, the battery doesn't last at all,i charged it this evening for 3hours.it only got to 48percent,and this can barely last at most 1hour,is this the same thing other users are experiencing or is it just me,cos i am not enjoying the phone at all..

Bros, a Good Note Battery does screen on time of 5 hrs or more.

The screen is a very bright LARGE 5.3 Amoled. it cannot have the same battery life as a 3.7 inch screen.

without Screen On, it does a full 24 hrs Plus with no problem.

Your usage pattern is worth looking at. do not expect to stare at the screen playing games for 10 hrs.

That said. Flash a Custom Kernel. this kernel download link http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1929520&d=1367482953 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2252977

Then turn down your screen brightness.

if your phone still drains battery even when the screen is off, there is one or two apps on it which is the cause. find out which one and uninstall.

(install CPU SPY) and let your phone be for a while, maybe like overnight and check the stats. you should have Deep Sleep close to 85% or more. if its not deep sleeping when idle, you have some rogue apps

and just in case u think this is limited to your Note, you are very wrong. it applies to every decent phone u can buy out there. thats why pple ask OEMs to increase battery capacity. Smart Phones are not there yet in battery life.

D.A.V.E:

and i dont want to buy a new battery just yet,. in short my question is how is the battery life of this phone if you are using one so i know if buying a new battery Solves my problem

if the above is ok and your battery still does not last, buy a new battery. Phone batteries die too

dude ur worries are over, install a cpu tuner i use SetCPU, then create different profiles like

IF screen IS off: reduce processor speed to 200MHz or Set cpu state to powersave
IF battery-temperature >= 55 degrees: reduce processor speed to 200MHz, Turn off Radio
etcetera...thank me later grin

Seun: Please tell us where you got it!

It's everywhere by now, I guess. I got mine from a retailer in PHC for 105k.

Affordables and Slot have got it now.

Crazy thing is, Affordables sells the Galaxy S4 for 105k, but their solitary HTC One is on sale for 129k. I expect that price to be slashed sharply grin

Poor Sony...nobody wants to buy the Xperia Z anymore.
