This is nothing, and too expensive!!!

I absolutely know what I'm talking about. N20m and I'll get you a better one that does minimum 200 barrels/day -- minimum!

Activities of saboteur BDCs or banks inflating prices may be morally wrong (especially as they got the forex at a cheap rate), but it is an inevitable human action as long as the CBN continues to enforce a wide gap between official and black market rates.

In a country where 98% of citizens and businesses get their forex from the parallel market and pay black market rates, it is just silly for the CBN to still maintain 'official or interbank rates' which have a very large spread from the black market rates (true value). It is impossible for the CBN to enforce this present policy of forcing merchants to sell at a particular price, natural human forces of greed must take precedence and the business of round-tripping will surely continue. Which leaves me wondering the kind of 'float' which the CBN claimed it implemented some 5 months ago...
I wish I could type a long one, but I'd paste the below from my other post here:

The gov't wouldn't fold its arms and watch them breech agreements for free either. They had an understanding with the CBN before getting the dollars from First bank and Travelex (the agreement was N385) . . . Gwadabe the chairman BDCs was all over the press foaming on all available mic, pledging compliance and integrity -- this is a classic case of '419'.

They were given concession for a reason. BTW, I believe the CBN and DSS would have better intel than Nairaland.
This was the same thing Ifeanyi Ubah called out, and asked why the government was watching hands akimbo, while all these go on.
Some few items would have to get off that list. Meanwhile, our major problem is not the inflow of dollars (be as important and chronic that holds), our major problem is/are saboteurs -- all the way from the Presidency, CBN, banks, politicians, BDCs, foreigners, companies, exporters, to Nairalanders, even the common man on the street without internet.

The above named are part of the problem, that ensures all policies have no/minimal effect.

I checked inflow and outflow, and in a sane country, even with all the issues, the Naira would still have exchanged comfortably between N220-N280.

We are just too smart and greedy for own good! "Over skill na hin dey kill monkey".

Forex racketeering is the new oil subsidy racket, albeit with a larger number of players.
BTW, the trading volume in the BM is low compared to the FMDQ and other windows. We have a managed/dirty float (which is improving in inflows, albeit slowly) just like most other countries, but we have unrepentant saboteurs too. The CBN could do better, agreed, but we have to look at ourselves, every one of us.

No matter how good a policy is, if it is being waylaid by both insiders and outsiders, it is DOA. Take the issue of pipeline vandalization,, refineries, and gas plants to power for example.

Electoral College Votes shows even America does not totally believe in majority . . .. undecided

200 year old law created for largely selfish reasons.

Al Gore was a victim too.

Nigeria's formula for declaring a winner puts more power in the hands of the people than it does in the States.

Foreign AffairsDecember 19 Will Decide Who Becomes The US President. by 989900D(op): 9:37am On Nov 10, 2016
For diehard Democrats holding out hope that they won’t have to live through a Trump presidency, there is a last, incredibly long shot for them latch on to — a surprise twist in the Electoral College.

Though Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by 200,000, Trump has won the minimum of 270 electoral votes necessary to be elected president. As of late Wednesday, he had 290 to Clinton’s 228.

According to the Constitution, chosen electors of the Electoral College are the real people who will vote for president, when they meet on Dec. 19 in their respective state capitals.

However, there is nothing stopping any of the electors from refusing to support the candidate to whom they were bound or by abstaining from voting.

There’s even a name for it: becoming a “faithless elector.”

Although the idea of the electors trying to reverse the vote is occasionally discussed — such as after the incredibly close 2000 election in which George Bush narrowly beat Al Gore — going “faithless” is exceedingly rare.

More than 99 percent of electors throughout American history have voted as pledged, according to an analysis done by the New York Times.

The last faithless elector reared his roguish head back in 2004, when a lone anonymous voter in Minnesota declined to vote for Democrat John Kerry and instead voted for Kerry’s running mate, John Edwards.

The rogue’s vote was purely ceremonial, as Bush already had 286 electoral votes ensuring his re-election.

Faithless electors are barred in only 29 states from ignoring the will of the voters, though the penalties are light. And a faithless elector has never swung an election.

The Founding Fathers created the Electoral College because they were actually “afraid of direct democracy,” according to FactCheck.org.

In fact, Alexander Hamilton thought the electors would make sure “the office of president will never fall to the lot of any man who is not in an eminent degree endowed with the requisite qualifications.”

Given the high dissatisfaction with Trump among Republicans, a few faithless GOP electors could well go rogue next month.

One Texas GOP elector, Chris Suprun of Texas, told Politico in August that he finds Trump so unpalatable he would consider voting for Clinton on Dec. 19.

Culled from New York Post.

The value of the Naira cannot be restored by forces of demand and supply, not by the force of a gun.

Economic experts in the house, can someone please explain what it actually means to float the currency but yet, a gun has to be pointed at the heads of forex vendors for them to reduce their rates?
This country is a special country, where the citizenry is its own major plague!

We are our own enemies. We are a special kind of stupid. We are a special scenario, needing special approach.

OTOH, the below ab initio . . . for a while, will be a good way to break the stronghold of saboteurs.

He said the best way out was for CBN to flood the market with enough forex, instead of using force to address the problem.

'The danger now is racists across the globe feel emboldened by Donald Trump's victory and racism and sexism become normalised through the most powerful figure in the world.

Number 3 is the only valid one here. There will be wars/escalations. America will be back in the middle-east (Syria, Iraq, Iran . . .)/elsewhere in 6 months from here.

Increase in oil prices and weaker dollar.

P.S. Trump's triumph is a new low in modern man's evolution, civility, and emancipation from barbarism.

Secondly the rubbish you googled is coming after the DSS raid and only after the incompetence and bias of the NJC was exposed

[s]This is not a quote from the CJN. This is a reporter's dubious interpretation of this

According to him, the NJC took the new stand, “following communications it received from the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice that he was embarking on the prosecution of the affected judicial officers based on the evidence on the ground

If judges are found guilty by the NJC, there are not suspended but rather dismissed!!!![/s]

Wow! I was only a baby then.

It will be hard to convince any rational mind that the British government and Gowon didn't know about the coup.

Bisalla (feeling disrespected) orchestrated it all, with Dimka as the arrowhead.

Danjuma (lucky to escape, ran commands like a true General), OBJ (maneuvered a la 'moja-mosa' . . . he was the next target, chipped in his bit via phone from hiding), and IBB (the double agent . . . played both sides) all came to the rescue by making sure the airport, Bonny camp, and Ikeja was not lost to the coupist; else it would have been game over.

Murtala would probably have survived the first wave of attack with wounds only, if they left the door of the Mercedes shut for a little while longer before trying to eject . . .

Students and other protesters ensured the coupist remained unpopular.

My take: it would be very difficult to have any successful coup in this mobile and internet age.
