ibkaye: She's doing it right then
I guess once she does it enough times, she will eventually go for the real deal.
she has to wash make-up off her face at the end of the day. n see the ugliness of her real nose. at least she must find her nose ugly to make it appear so radically different like that.

as a celebrity, she's not setting a positive image. She used to be a role model.

Censorship isn't new.
That teacher was probably fired. If not, it won't be long before he/she gets shown the door.
there is an ongoing War Against Islam in the western world.
Last century, the war was against Communism (Russia) and tons of people were accused of being "communist"
In the next century, i'm sure there will be a new "enemy" maybe buddhists? or Africans?

RomanceRe: Really Liked A Naija (yoruba) Girl And Regret Not Doing Anything (i'm Oyinbo) by 99cent: 6:33pm On Jun 10, 2013
TrickofTech: I think you are probably right. It is time to move on. The only reason I mentioned marriage is because I thought that's how courting works in Yoruba culture. If you had actually read what I had written, you would have seen that I do not have a clue! In the west, it is 'weird' and strange to casually suggest to two people that they could be married 'one day'. Her parents/parents friends suggested it a lot!!!!!! WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO THINK?!!!! I never mentioned marriage to them...but they always mentioned it to me!!! Was it a jokehuh? Were they trying to test me outhuh Is this how it works in Yoruba culturehuh? I DONT KNOW!!!!!!
________________________________

Besides...I have had a think about it. I get the feeling that she liked me. She maybe even liked me romantically at some points during my stay. BUT...I am pretty sure she would never even consider a relationship or marriage. She seemed to care too much about what her family/neighbors would think about her being with an oyinbo. She also seemed a lot more interested in me when the conversation got onto her coming to the 'west' (i.e. green card).

It sucks so much. I really appreciated everything about her. I really admired her for who she is, and I could have given her so much.
...her loss I suppose.

So I will leave it as friend for now...and play the long game. She knows that I still want to keep in contact with her...she knows that I would like to return to Nigeria one day. Maybe in a years time, if she is still not married, she will show a bit more interest.

...although I ain't holding out much hope.
then you should contact her more often (as a friend). call her often and tell her you miss her. just be good friends. Maybe when u visit naija again, as you say, if she's not married by then, then try ur luck.

meanwhile, u should also try to meet people in your area. maybe u will fall in love and forget about nigeria. less headache for you.

this is just the tip of the iceberg of what the "future biafra" will resemble.
chaos, destruction and worse predicament than present Nigeria.

some people need to learn to appreciate what they have and work towards its improvement.

PoliticsRe: Reasons Why Muslims Have Always Been Lagos Governor- Tell Me. by 99cent: 9:59pm On Jun 09, 2013
In Nigerian Christianity, high rank and success is measured by how western you are ex. impeccable English, flashy cars and clothes, high western education and professional jobs etc. Where as in Islam, community leaders are more respected and valued rather than how flashy your car is.

In a christian church like RCCG, winners chapel etc, you will not be congratulated for being the local government chairman or a local politician. instead, the most respected persons in lagos churches are doctors, lawyers, federal officials etc.

In mosques on the other hand, local politicians are more valued. If you go to a mosque, the most respected members there are local govt chairpersons, local businessmen and women, mayor, community leaders etc.

so muslims are more motivated/ incentivized to involve themselves in local politics than christians.
if a christian did it, he might be accused of being illiterate or too local.

I know this because my uncle (christian) is a local politician and he is more respected by his muslim friends. most of his christian friends do not give him the same respect. they value more professional, western style successes. like doctors and lawyers.
the only exception to this are churches like Celestial church/ cherubim and seraphim etc. they have similar attitude in terms of respect for "local-ness" as muslims.

in pentecostal churches, u will be respected for not knowing how to speak ur native language or for wearing western clothes exclusively. where as in islam, that will be shameful.

Akpan107: Lagos 2015: it must be a Christian governor or no lagos!!!
Mr. Akpan,
I pray it's a muslim. so you can pack ur load and move back to your village. abi someone force u to live in Lagos? tongue
PoliticsRe: Cleric Calls For Christian Governor In Lagos State Elections by 99cent: 9:34pm On Jun 09, 2013
This topic is misleading. All the cleric was doing was encouraging his church members to be more involved in politics.
it is true that christians tend to shy away from politics (esp. the modern pentecostal ones). But at the end of the day, it doesn't matter if christian or muslim holds the position. as long as the person is doing his job well.

PoliticsRe: Nigerian Deportee From Kenya Narrates Ordeal by 99cent: 9:26pm On Jun 09, 2013
ACM10: Another dumbass brother lamenting after his properties and investments in foreign land was seized. Igbos buying lands and investing in Abuja, Lagos and other non-eastern states should learn from this man. The same fate awaits you. Marrying the locals do not exempt you from harsh treatment when time comes. Your wife will even connive with her brothers to dispossess you of all your belongings.
Na so we see am o.
The day Biafra materializes is the day many of them will start being deported from Lagos, Abuja and other non-igbo cities.
Instead of them to appreciate what they have here in Nigeria and embrace their country + work together to make thing better. they choose to reject Nigeria not realizing the amount of benefit they get from being part of this great country.

how will biafra help this kenyan deportee now?
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Deportee From Kenya Narrates Ordeal by 99cent: 9:16pm On Jun 09, 2013
buying house and building business in another man's land doesn't mean u own d place. u can be kicked out at anytime esp if you aren't humble or if u are into illegal business. He should be thanking God that they didn't burn him alive as they do to them in South Africa. that's just reality. maybe he was flaunting his wealth and acting arrogant. Many igbos like to boast that they own all the land and riches in Africa anyway. It's hard to pity them.

maybe MASSOB should declare a 3 day sit-at-home mourning in honor of their deported member from Kenya grin
CelebritiesRe: How I Wasted Six Years Of My Life With Jim Iyke - Kenturah Hamilton Cries Out by 99cent: 2:46am On Jun 09, 2013
this is a senseless thread.

She has already said that her "relationship" with Jim Iyke was fake. He was paying her to be his 'fiance'.

all these yeye made up stories need to stop. I'm sure Jim Iyke is the farthest thing from her memory.

and let's just hope that he's not also paying nadia buhari to act as his gf grin

hahaha. don't mind them.
After fleeing to ivory coast, he came back and ran for nigerian presidency TWICE. did he think Nigerians would vote for him? he started making friends with OBJ and nigerian politicians to the extent that they decided to throw him a burial party.in the end, he learned that diplomacy and tact works much better than chest beating.

quid: No, be accomodating. Marry an aboki girl. You will not regret it, I assure you.
let's be honest with ourselves. yorubas are the most progressive in naija.
u will not see many hausas and igbos marrying each other.
but there are many yoruba-hausa marriages. and also many yoruba-igbo mariages.
ur also most likely to find muslims and christians represented most evenly among yorubas.
PoliticsRe: Bomb Defused In Imo by 99cent:
^^^^ well, MASSOB did vow to deal 'ruthlessly' with anyone who disobeys the 'sit-at-home' order. that one by itself was such a serious threat to the state that Igbo governors had to bring in police and soldiers. clearly, there was going to be trouble.
and now terrorist bomb explosions.

sure.
remember this is a nigerian forum. nairaland not biafraland. neither have I stepped foot on igbo soil a day in my life. in fact, I will visit kano before I visit onitsha.
I can't say d same for many igbos.

naija pride cool
PoliticsRe: MASSOB Sit-at-home Order - How Is Your Area? by 99cent: 10:38pm On Jun 08, 2013
quid: The truth at last.
but then once oil dries up, igbos won't want biafra anymore. oil being the main reason behind their secessionist move. then it will be too late. they have already established themselves as second class nigerian citizens and proud of their status.
