TravelRe: Nigerians Frustrated At The Nigerian Embassy In Canada by 99cent: 10:43pm On Aug 23, 2013
Uncanny Genius: To my Fellow Igbos..
My brothers and sisters in the house. You can see that the Government don't give a damn about you if you are in a foreign land. The best thing is for us to abandon the useless Nigeria and support Biafra. Nigeria is a curse and is destined to be destroyed. If you keep on staying with the wild forest (Nigeria), the animals (Nigerians) will continue to treat you anyhow just like they are doing in the Yoruba Lagos. Now that an International Airport is at Enugu, we should stop going to that dirty airport in that dirty Lagos to travel outside the wild forest. Akanu Ibiam International Airport is nearer to your home and the transportation fare to the airport is cheaper. Please think what I have said. "One Nigeria" is not in existence. Biafra is the way.

Chukwu gozie Ndi Igbo!!!!!!
Chukwu gozie Biafra!!!!!!
dumb post.
The OP is complaining about incompetent igbo embassy workers. u r typing rubbish. read before typing.
igbos make up the highest number of federal govt employees in nigeria afterall. the incompetency is glaring.

tomorrow u will be saying u refuse to pay tax in lagos becuase you are in federal govt terrotory.
one day federal govt is your best friend, next day it's your enemy. u r very confused and irresponsible.

wonder why u can't make a post without inserting the word "lagos" in it. when the thread is about canada. grin
PoliticsRe: Lagos Labels Spare-Parts Dealers Security Threat by 99cent: 10:13pm On Aug 23, 2013
Lagos would not survive an implosion of the magnitude that ethnic war between Igbos and Yorubas would cause, there are many Igbos that were born in Lagos who have never been to the east since they were born as well as hundreds of thousands of others who invested millions who would rather die defending it than running away. If the Igbos could fight the whole of Nigeria to a stand still then I don't think the Yorubas alone could overwhelm us.
yeah your post makes zero sense.
if the so called many "igbos" were born in Lagos, have never been to the east and don't know nothing about the east, cannot speak a sentence in igbo. then what makes them Igbo? What makes you think that if they identify more with yorubaland, speak yoruba, eat yoruba foods, wear yoruba clothes etc. u really think they will turn around and fight biafra war for you?
mtchew. rubbish. most of them could care less about ur tribal ideas and within 2 generations most of them are assimilating as yorubas.
better go and re-think your strategy.
PoliticsRe: Lagos Labels Spare-Parts Dealers Security Threat by 99cent: 10:10pm On Aug 23, 2013
deeptesting: LASG should stop harassing Igbo traders in Lagos State and labeling them all sorts of names......If the traders refused to pay tax to the LASG because the market and land belongs to the Federal Government how does that constitute a security threat? Nonsense.
you can't refuse to pay taxes in Lagos under Fashola.
the "Federal Government" excuse is overplayed and won't work.
reminds me of the thread about dirty filthy roads in Aba, Abia state. All of a sudden, "Federal Government" became the enemy and cause of filthy slums in Aba. Everything is always another person's fault. today it is lagos's fault. tomorrow it is federal government's fault. tomorrow it is Kano and Abuja's fault. Day after that, it is South Africa's fault.

PAY YOUR DAMN TAXES. take personal responsibility once in a while.

ono: I noticed that at some point, the writer implied that there's no way out for us - as far as he knows. Perhaps we Nigerians can be sincere enough for once in our life and call a spade a spade, accept that we have problems bedeviling us. That's the first part, then we can now move forward to other steps.
well at least u read the article well enough to realize that the writer is basically saying that we are a bunch of hopeless people.
how does an article like that help? Everyone in Nigeria knows there is corruption. I don't know what you mean when you say Nigerians should accept that we have a problem. How many Nigerians have u met who deny there is corruption?
the message from the article is: corruption will never go away. it is an endemic problem that's in our genes. so what incentive does this give anybody to look for a solution if there can never be a solution. low IQ is part of our genes, corruption is part of our genes, underdevelopment is part of our genes. what haven't we heard before?
this article is 100% negative. Basically bordering on biological determinism. It isn't prescriptive yet we are fawning over it in amazement as if we just learned something new and extraordinary.

A-town:
You missed the part where i noted "some of his points may be right"
Anyway, i'm particularly interested in this because i work with most of these guys and their condescending attitude infuriates me a lot. Do you know how many times i have told some of this guys to shut the feck up in an office conversation? They keep travelling on rotations back to naija on company paid business class tickets, get treated like millionaires and everytime we talk, all they want to tell me is about how bad Nigeria is. My first response is always: get the FECKK out of there if you don't like it. As always, they shut up. By the way, they have a choice. Nigeria is considered high-risk and no employer will fire you if you refuse.

We know Nigeria is bad. I don't need an Overpaid expatriate telling me that nonsense. Tell Tim Newman to go to the UK and demand what he was earning with Total in naija and see if they won't biiitch slap him all the way to burundi.
Also, he talks as if he's all that. He barely has 10years experience and we won't "hear word". Talking about how he's made an impact blah blah blah. Abeg go siddon. What will the expats that have 30years now yarn.

GooseBaba: The Op's points are valid, spot on and what not..

The question I have for my beloved brethren and fellow Nigerian. Why must we lose our minds when a foreigner points out the obvious. Some praise this foreigners like mad dogs. Try writing the obvious about Europeans and American and see if they give a rats tail.
GBAM.
the stupidity on this thread is beyond me. Nigeria has featured in "MOST CORRUPT COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD" list for several years now. All of a sudden, some random guy decides to type a half-assed one dimensional rant and wow, they look at it as if it's something enlightening. Even if the guy had proposed an idea of how to solve the problem I will understand. but he is stating the obvious and somehow we nigerians are reacting as if we are hearing for the first time.

I asked a simple question: how does this help us toward solving the issue? and the fool i-hop or whetever his username is got his panties in a bunch. rubbish.

ooseven: People like you are one of the problems of the country.

You want people to keep saying nigeria is flowing with milk and honey even though you know it's rotting from within.

So I ask you, what will change Nigeria?
I think people like YOU are one of the problems of the country.
Nigeria is corrupt everyone knows that. I'm only asking you how another "corrupt nigeria" article will change the country. answer d question.
this not the first time oyibo god man has declared Nigeria to be corrupt. is it?

if you have any critical thinking skills or sense you will see that even the oyinbo guy himself said he will stay in Nigeria (he's most likely making a LOT of cool cash to do so) and he will survive comfortably because he knows the system and can play the game. hahahahahahahah that is the KEY to the whole article right there that nobody is talking about.

He has chosen to participate in the corruption in order for him to stay in Nigeria and continue making money as an expat in the oil and gas industry. since he is NOT nigerian and corruption is a "Nigerian" thing, he can comfortably participate in corruption and blame it on Nigerians because corruption is inherently a "Nigerian characteristic."

BoboYekini: vile name calling? Someone outrightly lies and scoffs at such magnitude of suffering in the streets, tell me what greater evil is there? It quacks and waddles like a duck, ergo it is a duck.
Sometimes I think that the 'tiny' middle class are the most viciously evil group in Nigeria. I have seen countless cases where 'the rich middle class managers move against company drivers receiving benefits totaling $10( N1500) per week'. How many pay this same drivers N30,000 monthly, not because that is all they can afford, or because that is even a fair wage at all, but because they feel that is the maximum this 'inferior' drivers should get. Afterall the minimum wage is set at N18,000.
A country where being kind and good and honest is something to be ashamed of.
what exactly is your point? are you a driver? if so, pele.
maybe through corruption, u will be able to increase ur salary. abi?
those evil middle class should also upgrade their corruption so they also can join the rich upper class.

then everyone can climb a ladder and be happy.

shior.

the mere fact that we have these British expat workers is also one of the things wrong with Nigeria.
And like he admitted in his own words, most of them are "hopelessly unqualified."
Yes he will return for another 3+ yrs not because he likes the place but because he knows he will be making a HELL of a lot of MONEY in the oil and gas industry as a British expat. This is at the expense of local Nigerians. He's part of the people he is pointing fingers at.

^why don't u just join the Tea party movement? Feminism will be eradicated and the traditional family will be restored. if you get enough people to join the Tea Party. All women will be back in d kitchen and nursing babies and the world will be at peace. Join the Tea Party to eliminate Feminism. duh and maybe things will be so perfect and black americans like you will be back in the slave fields. America will be restored to its glory days seeing as lack of cheap and free labor due to slave emancipation is d reason why we r currently behind China. not to mention feminism. all these liberal crap. Tea Party is the d key.

Tea party members and what they have to say about feminism:

"The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians."
- Pat Robertson.

"Sotomayor and Kagan. What are they? They're women -- that means they're victims. That means they're minorities. That means they've been discriminated against. That means we owe them!"
-Rush Limbaugh
