Update: so I had to leave the car with mech when the gear broke down in the morning cause I had work to go to. I called him later in the day and he said gear started engaging back on its own. Infact, he said the moment I handed over the car to him and left it worked perfectly till he got to his shop; now I just picked up the car and its working right again - I haven’t scanned it yet but what can I do to avoid this happening again?

Whatever got stuck in the solenoid may have been dislodged.
There is nothing wrong in servicing transmissions as long as procedure is followed, right fluids are used and it's done in a clean environment.

Is there 12v power to the wiring to the button on the driver's side? If no, then the harness from the door has a break somewhere.

Hello gurus; I changed my toyota camry 05 gear oil yesterday after more than a year of usage without issues. After about 20 minutes drive this morning it suddenly stopped changing even when I revved the car to 4k rpm. What could be wrong and is the gear gone? Its a 13 pin gear and I used the recommended t4 oil inscribed on the oil stick.

1. Were you there when this change was done?
2. Did you buy this TIV yourself?
3. Where did you buy the TIV? From a reputable seller?
4. Did your mechanic open your sump?
5. Did he change or wash filter?
6. Were his hands clean when he installed the filter?
7. Was the container used in pouring the TIV free from dirt?
8. How did you gauge the oil after the service?
9. Have you gauged the oil today?

From what I saw in the opening video there are two back passengers evident from their position of window shouting and one passenger in front. Their could be five passengers in all.

From the internal video we can only see, driver, the front passenger and the back camera man.

They should redo the video with 5 adults and possibly lap someone to give it extra weight. Then redo the video. I want to confirm something.

What I deduce was they loaded the vehicle with passengers to make it heavier, it's a sedan with low ground clearance, getting to 240 isn't an issue 270hp, 3.5L V6 with enough stretch of free road is enough to get any vehicle to its top speed.

There was no drifting at 240 stable speed, the driver got to 240km/h then power slide (drifting) the vehicle which is evident through the dashboard and windscreen showing movement of the white line lane divider and other parked cars and people by the left hand side.

Hmmmm. How did they even get a Toyota up to 240km/hr. I thought it doesn't have balance and flies off the road at speeds above 120km/hr. Was it tuned by nurburing people? I don't understand.

If you don't mind seeing 8mpg in lagos traffic and 18mpg on the highway while driving responsibly, go for it.

However I recently achieved 20.5mpg driving like a grandpa with revs kept below 2k rpm and speeds below 120km/hr.

It's a rapid SUV and can put a lot of sedans and other "marquee" SUVs to shame when it comes to sprinting. 0-60mph in 6 seconds.

It's got the best awd system of cars made in the same era (beats the 4matic, Lexus and Audi awd systems). There's a YouTube video to back up claim.

I have never got stuck in bad terrain. Never. As long as the belly and propeller are clear of obstructions, the AWD will get you out. Don't do crazy offroading though. It doesn't have a locking differential.

Electrical system is sturdy. Only major known issue is battery drain caused by faulty hand free Bluetooth unit. Simple fix.

Mechanically, it's sturdy and robust. Engine is solid. 2011 and some 2010 engines are known to burn oil. Yours might not be included. To control oil burn issues, keep rpms low as mentioned above and use 5w 30 weight oil.

Transmission is solid. Service when due. Your maintenance minder will remind you.

It uses timing belt and is an interference engine. Make sure you change it when due. The maintenance minder will remind you. If it cuts while in motion, at the minimum you a buying top. If it's serious, you are buying an entire engine.

It's a sweet SUV if you have a large family and haul stuff regularly.
