bigboss80s:Stop showing your ignorance in public just to get likes on Nairaland. "The weapons and ammunition include 100 GBU-12 (500 lb) Paveway II Tailkits; 100 GBU-58 (250 lb) Paveway II Tailkits; 400 Laser Guided Rockets including Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) rounds; 2000 MK-81 (250 lb) bombs; 5000 2.75 inch (70 mm) Hydra 70 unguided rockets; 1000 2.75 inch Hydra 70 unguided rockets (practice); and 20000 rounds of .50 calibre machinegun ammunition. The APKWS is a low cost semi-active laser guidance kit developed by BAE Systems, which is added to unguided 70 mm rockets, turning them into precision strike weapons. Similarly, the Paveway II, developed by Raytheon and Lockheed Martin, uses semi-active laser guidance to turn Mk 81 and Mk 82 general purpose bombs into guided weapons. The DSCA said the sale includes the tailkits to transform Nigeria’s existing 500-lb and 250-lb bomb bodies into GBU-12s and GBU-58s respectively, and that Nigeria is also buying additional GBU-58s/Mk 81 bombs. The proposed sale also includes seven AN/AAQ-22F electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) sensor and laser designator turrets, spares, support equipment, facilities infrastructure and hangar construction, night vision devices, simulators, and software." It's only in Nigeria that a fighter aircraft with precision kill weapons be called a toy. |
AerialMapper:Countries don't share these kind of technologies it's either you reverse engineer or start on your own. In this case NAF have done what they can and it will be improved upon in the future. The NAF institute of research was inaugurated 2 years ago, what the institute have achieved within this period is a great feat and deserve commendation. |
Perge:The first US drones did not carry hell fire missiles, they also started with a small UAV. This is good achievement by NAF |
FarahAideed:GEJ commissioned Gulma which was a prototype. This is an improved version of Gulma check the specs and see the difference. |

Mumu judge showing mercy to a remorseless terrorist... |
DUTCHDON:No doubt, my point is these cannot be achieved in 4 years therefore, no president can transform Nigeria to this level if voted in the next election. That level of development was achieved by careful and deliberate planning over a period of more than 10 years , something we lack in this part of the world. |
Nice |
DUTCHDON:Non of those cities were built in less than ten years. |
Emycord:Was he ever in the news before the crash? he has gone back to where he used to be. |
Baba is working, by the time Boko Haram loose their human shield, the NAF and NA will move in strong and get the job done once and for all. |
Published February 10, 2018 Olalekan Adetayo, Abuja President Muhamamdu Buhari on Saturday expressed happiness on the release, through negotiations, of three University of Maiduguri lecturers abducted by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in Magumeri, Borno State. According to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President expressed delight at the development while being briefed by the Department of State Services. Also released from the Boko Haram terrorists, according to the statement, are 10 women kidnapped in a raid by the militant group on a military/police convoy on Damboa Road, near Maiduguri. Shehu said their release followed a series of negotiations facilitated by the International Committee of the Red Cross, as directed by the President. The presidential spokesman quoted the brief given by the DSS as revealing that all the 13 rescued persons are in the custody of the service and are on their way to Abuja with the assistance of the Nigerian Army and the Air Force. In expectation of their being brought to the DSS headquarters, he said a team of doctors and psychologists has been placed on standby. He added that the rescued persons may be presented to the President and thereafter released to their families, if there are no issues of security or medical concerns. The statement read in part, “The President, who got step by step progress reports on the lengthy negotiations while they took place, received the good news with a lot of happiness. “He commended all those who in one way or the other helped in making the release possible. “He then urged the DSS and the Nigerian Army to intensify efforts to bring home the remaining Chibok Girls still in the custody of the terrorists. “The Director-General of the DSS, Lawal Daura, assured the President that they were working hard to bring home the remaining girls and, as soon as possible, bring the Chibok girls saga to an end.” http://punchng.com/buhari-welcomes-release-of-abducted-unimaid-lecturers-10-women/
