Politics › Re: NNPC Secures $3bn Loan To Stabilise The Naira by 9jii(m): 7:07pm On Aug 16, 2023 |
masseratti: We cannot go on like this.. This is not the way out to stabilize the naira, the only solution is to go the way we did with fuel subsidy, no more special treatment, if you have a window the I and E window and a parallel market with two different rates in one economy, some privileged people who have access to the I and E window to buy Dollars will buy it at a lower rate and sell at the parallel market at an higher rates, also the world is no more in the 90s where market forces closes with banking hours, shut down the I and E windows, buy and sell the dollars at the going rates in the parallel market.. With that you have unified the exchange rates and allowed it to float freely, stop selling to the banks. If you have to sell to the banks sell at the aboki rates and buy at aboki rates.. The demand for dollars I can guarantee will go down 40% under just one week.. Thereby forcing the rate down... The CBN honcos knows this, this is what we need not loans to defend the naira
It might be ok for short term but what happens when it's exhausted? It's a vicious circle.. Only way out is for CBN since they are the largest holder of the currency or the IOCs to buy and sell at the parallel market rates abolish the I and E window.. It's just a conduit for another round tripping.. That's what is causing the rise in dollars thereby triggering inflation. As if you are not Nigerian, in theory you are right but it's practically impossible to stabilized the Naira like that. Coz that's what government is doing and failing |

Taylor90: The rubbish we take from these politicians is just because of different tribes and beliefs FORCED together as one
Imagine a Nigeria where there’s no Igbo mixed with Hausa and Yoruba
Like Arewa country is mainly Northerners and a northern president do nonsense
All Hausas will rally up in one mind and protest like there’s no tomorrow
Same with Igbo and Yorubas as respective countries and their leaders do rubbish
They’ll hit the street in one accord
But Nigeria with three major tribes that don’t work together can’t achieve a single agreement
Yoruba leader will instigate their people against any protest by Igbo or Hausa vice versa and tell them this is a political ploy to dethrone Tinubu
THE ONLY SOLUTION TO NIGERIA IS DISINTEGRATION
EVERY TRIBE HAVE YOUR OWN COUNTRY
This your backward thinking sef. We should not learn to live together. No matter how long it will take we ll get it someday. Progressive. |

Alejo2000: Hello fellow Nairalanders,
I find myself at a crucial crossroad in life and would greatly appreciate your valuable insights and diverse perspectives. I have worked diligently in a private organization for 15 years, managing to save up to N20 million. Additionally, I own a 3-bedroom apartment. and a few plots of land in three different states in Nigeria.
Current Situation: Recently, I was disengaged from my job, and this has prompted me to contemplate a major life decision. I am 45 years old, and my wife is 42 years old. Together, we have three children, two of whom are in secondary school.
Contemplating Relocation: Given the circumstances, I have been seriously considering the possibility of relocating to another country with my family via study route. Two countries have caught my attention: the UK and Canada. I believe that I still have around 15 years of active career working life by the Grace of God, and I am open to exploring new opportunities abroad for the betterment of my family's future.
Reasoning: The motivation behind this move is to provide my children with a better education and quality of life while also embracing new experiences. However, I am fully aware that this is not without risks, as it would involve utilizing my lifetime savings and making a fresh start in a foreign land.
Seeking Your Advice: I humbly seek your honest advice and opinions on this matter. Here are some key points to consider:
Family considerations: How will relocating impact my children's education and overall well-being?
Age and career transition: Is starting anew in a foreign country feasible, considering my age and accounting background as my profession?
Financial stability: Should I be concerned about using my savings for this move? What steps can I take to ensure financial security in a new country?
Visa and immigration: What are the challenges and best practices in obtaining permanent residency in the UK or Canada?
Job opportunities: How promising is the job market for accountants in these countries? Are there viable prospects for career growth?
Investment options: Alternatively, what investment opportunities in Nigeria can provide a stable income stream for my family?
Conclusion: I am deeply grateful for any advice, personal experiences, or suggestions you can provide. Your valuable insights will play a significant role in shaping this crucial decision for my family's future.
Thank you all for taking the time to read and respond to my post. Your support means a lot to me and will help me make an informed choice.
Warm regards, If you can make it this far at 45 In Nigeria I don't think you need to relocate anywhere outside Nigeria. I think you can achieve more with what you have now if you find d right business. With more their ll a chance for you to plan your children life abroad like these politicians are doing. |

ceeceeuwa: I live on the island where you can sarcastically call Lekki phase 4 😀. The electricity destribution here is nothing to write home about. Infact you can count the number of hours you have light over here in a month. They bring it for few minutes each day for a couple of days towards when it is time for them to destribute the bills. People here have been generating electricity for themselves by using their generating sets. Infact, it is no longer news that most Nigerians have lost hope in the Discos . In the wake of the fuel subsidy removal, I discovered that the few homes who could afford fuelling their generating sets hardly do so. Even the more affluent ones that other residents rely on to charge their phones when ever they put on their Gen set have gone 😫.
Those that could confidently run their Gen all night preceding the subsidy removal only power it on for few minutes to pump water then off it goes.
The one that baffled me last night was that I looked out my window and everywhere was so dark except for the moonlight. Even a building close by that I could confidently say they have been having light all night for the past 2 years of my residing here was out of light last night. Which way Nigeria? 🤷
The standard of living of Nigerians have dropped drastically!
Abeg someone should help me calculate how much we have saved from the subsidy since May 29 let me collect my own share and know wether na solar panel and inverter I go use my own buy 😫. Calculating..... 4 trillion x 29 days = ??
I just tire😥 4 trillion a per day you said? Don't be mischievous with your fact. |
