As for those mocking Otem without even knowing the basics about the guy, your problem is low intelligence. On his threads, he clearly stated Otem and Atum, which is also called Tem, are one and the same.

There's a reason his moniker is OtemAtum. As I said some time ago, it's the most stupid Africans that mock Otem or Tem. Once I see your post here mocking any of those two, immediately I regard your IQ as very low.
Otem himself is a Kogi person, while Tem or Atum is a founder of Ancient Egypt. Based on his history book, Atum was the Otem of a past human era, and the guy bearing Otem now had served as a patron to Atum when the latter reincarnated as a Homo Sapiens in Luxembourg, just like Atum is the current patron to the guy bearing Otem now from Kogi.

"Otem" is even a word in their language in that area (Luxembourg). These are things you can verify yourself.

Yes. Otem claims India was a world power in the ancient world. In that era, Ancient Egypt (a black African civilization), Hittite, and India were the world powers, according to him.

While there's a solid body of evidence from many other sources for the first two claims, I didn't see corroborating sources for the last one.

However, since more than 97% of history of planet Earth is lost and undocumented, it's possible India had been a world power in the past.

If you want to challenge my posts which contain many facts, at least, read about that subject first instead of commenting on a topic you don't even have the basic knowledge about.

Use your dictionary and stop embarrassing yourself. Check the meaning of "norm" and "culture" and read that post you quoted again. Your problem is poor quality of education.

I never thought I'd be explaining to a so-called graduate what "norm" and "culture" mean. You think only religious people have norms?

The news coming from India these days just dey sweet my belle. The country has launched a space mission, the first of its kind in its history, to the sun. Science and technology in India is making key advances.

https://fb.watch/mPI1vtYQlb/?mibextid=Nif5oz

Isese people (Yoruba), Igbo people, and other local cultures in Africa should be following news like this and emulating India.

To learn key concepts in science and technology online, including programming, Indians have been very helpful for millions around the world, and I'm particularly impressed whenever I see them learning STEM in their native languages.

The fact is, if your culture doesn't have a word for many scientific terms and technologies of the modern world, it shows that culture is backward and has unintelligent people as the majority.

Science and technology is also traditional to Isese and all native cultures of Africa. Our ancestors and forefathers, which are those pagan gods the unintelligent Africans love to demonize and condemn, made key contributions to science and technology, and parts of Africa were actually ahead in the past.

But in modern times, the situation of things is entirely different now.

We're in a new age now, and to prosper in this new era, it's a must for us to give priority to science and technology above anything else including worshipping a deity, sacrifices, and co.

Even if Nigeria can't land on the moon now or send a space mission to the sun, the education sector needs more funding. Education is one of the key sectors that the government should give a priority to so that our institutions at all levels can make importance advances in science and technology.

It's time Nigerians prioritized science and technology above religion. Religion doesn't solve any of the major problems we face in this country or that humanity faces on this planet.

When some of us were talking of Chelsea signing a decent goalscorer to either mentor or compete with Jackson who's still learning people like andrewbaba from other clubs came to come and drag us that it's only 100m we want to be spending. I also watch some of his matches in villarreal and even though I liked his overall play I felt he still needed time to improve his finishing since he's young and coming to the premier league. Buying Sanchez is another stupid decision I will never understand. Somebody who lost his place to small jason steele, someone who had one of the worst save percentages one season I can't remember. The problem is not only with pochettino. It begins from the head.
Well said. I watched Jackson today and saw raw talent. Though he made costly mistakes in the game, but one can see the potential. However, for a club like Chelsea, he doesn't have enough quality and experience to lead our attack.

At best, he should be a second striker and used in some matches while we rely on a proven striker.

As for Sanchez, he's a disaster waiting to happen. At most positions, this Chelsea team is a massive downgrade. Boli is wrecking this great club with his reckless spending and naiveté.

Packing kids all about for a world-class club when we're not Brighton. If he wants a club that would be developing young talents like Arsenal of some years ago, he should have simply acquired Brighton or Everton.

Hope the fans watching our games at Stamford Bridge can demand for instant success or nothing.

We all know buying youths are a good thing. See what Bellingham is doing for real madrid. See Evan ferguson today for Brighton. Musiala destroying bundesliga but when you pack a squad full almost full of it instead of allowing them blend with several veterans or experienced ballers you are mostly going to see results like this. This is not fifa or football manager. Even in that football manager if you buy all the talented youths in the game and use them as a full team you will soon reach where their ai will use experience to kill you. Our average starting 11 has only 3 players above 25. Some of these games need gametime to mature and get more grown to the game to reach their potential that's why some players go on loan and return a different man. These are players that some will start reaching their peak in 2-4 years time.
But the thing is Chelsea is a big club, one of the biggest in the world and our history means we demand instant success not midtable inconsistenty. The issue now is Can we wait?
This Chelsea na new Chelsea, no be the Chelsea we're used to. Boli wants us to be developing young talents now, which hasn't been part of the club's philosophy in the modern era.

So, basically, we're the new Arsenal now. I no even wan put mind for top 4 finish this season. Na regular disappointment with Chelsea these days.

Chelsea has transitioned from a contender for multiple titles to a club that develops young talents. Which kind trash be this

This is my comment, right here. And I want to believe you have that much sense to understand. I put "modern" in parenthesis to denote that what I said may not exactly be it, but, that, at least, atheism arose out of cultural beliefs. Religion is a part of that culture, until people because questioning it. Atheism literally exists because THERE IS theism, and in contrast to it. I also clearly mentioned that there are some people who are atheists within these cultures, but go off.

Unless you want to refer to the very basic, earliest period of human existence before religion was formed as a time when humans collectively were atheistic, in which case wouldn't be valid because there was no conceptualisation of atheism. This, unlike the practices of animism, magic, ritualistic dances and spells, rain worship, etc. Does religion not predate this "early ancient Greek era?" Was a time where atheism was collectively ideological lifestyle and belief of people in the past?

And these books were obviously written as enquiries and insights into atheistic clashes with the religions of the time. Religions rooted in the culture of the people.

And based on your submission above, if atheism isn't of English origins, is it now of African origins?
The post you quoted already addressed the history of atheism succinctly and answered your question. The origin of atheism is stated explicitly in that post and the previous posts, so 'atheism' and 'modern culture', whether your 'modern' is in parenthesis or not, shouldn't be in the same sentence.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by A001: 6:13pm On Sep 02, 2023
I don't know where some people got the false historical knowledge that atheism started in modern times or evolved from modern culture when the root word of 'atheism' itself ', átheos', is from the early ancient Greek language, which means 'godless'.

Does that look like a modern language to you?

Some ignorant people here, who can't tell their left from their right, would be associating the origin of atheism or agnosticism with the English culture.

Anyone familiar with the history of philosophy, especially Western or classical philosophy, would know a number of pre-Socratic skeptics who were atheists; Anaxagoras is a good example. Epicurus was an atheist that existed in Ancient Greece around the platonic era.

Philosophers have written a series of books on atheism in the ancient world, such as "Battling the Gods: Atheism in the Ancient World" by Tim Whitmarsh; "The History of Western Philosophy" by Bertrand Russell, and many others.

Some people will be saying nonsense with confidence. Lols.

By the way the most intelligent people aren't always atheists. This is because ancient science and education was intertwined with religion. Even in Africa and other ancient civilizatios, our local medical practitioners were priest etc. But that's another topic.
Then you don't know what's called culture. For freethinkers, the norm is to approach issues or beliefs about God using either the agnostic, atheistic, or humanistic perspective, or a combination of some of these three positions and related ones.

Norm is an element of culture. You're discussing a topic you don't even have basic knowledge of. First you didn't know religion is under the umbrella term of culture, and now, you don't know norm is also under culture.

If a person visits Nairaland daily and does so for a considerable period of time in his life, that has become an aspect of his culture.

Tell us where atheism started.

In Igbo, culture is called Omenala.
I've addressed that already in the previous post.

Mubarak is a Fulani/Hausa atheist that has been wallowing in a prison. I'm sure some people will also say there are no Fulani/Hausa atheists. But there are. Most are hiding from being killed or persecuted by the fanatics and terrorists.

Thus, atheism hasn't been developed as a concept in that local culture.

While there are few atheists there, they've not developed the concept of atheism in their culture, and that has remained so for a very long time.

If you don't have atheists in your culture, that means your culture has dull people in large numbers and that culture isn't advanced and well developed.

For a culture to make progress, they need freethinkers in good numbers.

The bolded is not acceptable by me. African culture does not permit a void in the divine. Let's not bring up fake ideas just to push our narratives. I want to learn, you will have to prove that.

Appreciating a culture and defending it are two different issues. Religion is an aspect of African culture, and so defending it means acceptance. How can you promote what you don't believe in? Makes no sense.

I also appreciate African culture and I am not atheist. I appreciate but won't promote it or even defend it.
So dull. If you say atheism isn't present in the African culture, that means theism isn't there as well.

The moment a person says he believes in a god or deity (theism) and another person doesn't accept or entertain that belief (atheism), atheism has started.

We don't call such people atheists in Africa as English isn't part of African languages.

In Yoruba, they're described as 'poki' or 'enitionilorun'. Historically, atheism isn't even also traditional to the English culture. The first atheists originated from ancient Egypt, ancient Greece, and Old Rome.

Ancient Egypt is the origin of civilization, and many philosophical ideas of the West had its roots from there.

In any society, the most intelligent people are the freethinkers — the agnostics, atheists, and humanists, and if you can't find a word for any of those in your culture, it shows they're very rare in your culture because many of them have been historically killed in Africa.

It means that culture hasn't had deep intellectual evolution in its history.

You'll find most world's top scientists are either agnostics or atheists.

I read Einstein's original research papers in German language for his theories of special relativity and general relativity again this morning for a research project I'm doing.

I'm sure some ignorant people that don't know their left from right will be thinking the field of Relativity was developed by the English people.

They don't know the English people, owing to the high numbers of highly intelligent individuals in the country, translated Einstein's works into the English language. They also did the same to all the other fields of Physics in the pre-21st century era, and they also translated many books of philosophy from Greece, Old Rome, Ancient Egypt, France, Germany, and others into English.

All of them are rushing to the Great Britain today. Yet, they don't know the efforts the English people took in the past to develop their culture into a powerful civilization.

Some dolts think science, atheism, agnosticism are traditional to the English culture. Yet, the Internet is there to learn the history of science and philosophy.

Be careful not to argue this because I have another banger for you.
Did atheism originate from the English culture? We call our native culture and traditions "Isese" or "Asa ati Ise" in Yoruba language.

Igbo people also have their own equivalent of Isese, which you call Igbo culture. There's a term for it in Igbo language.

Every people around the world has their own equivalent of Isese in their own area. In Arabia, Islam is an element of their own Isese or native cultures and traditions.

Christianity is an aspect of the Isese or the native culture and traditions of Israelites.

These are basic facts a typical African should know.

You and the m.oron you quoted are very ignorant. Culture is very broad. Learn about a subject before talking ignorantly.

Culture is very broad as it's an umbrella term for the religion (beliefs), norms, language, customs, arts, and other key aspects of a people. Apart from mainly religion, freethinkers regularly promote many of the remaining elements with key benefits and backed by science.

The late renowned anthropologist Hofstede gave one of the best definitions of culture I've come across: "Culture is the collective programming of the mind which distinguishes the members of one group or category of people from another”.

And the "Culture as an Iceberg" model, developed by experts in culture such as Cavusgil and others, is one of the best models I've seen that most accurately captures what's called culture (picture attached). All those elements you see in the picture are under the umbrella term, culture.

So shameful. This dolt actually thinks freethinking, atheism, agnosticism, humanism started from the English people.

However, they all have their roots in ancient Egypt, ancient Greece, and Old Rome. If the freethinkers from those cultures didn't promote their cultures, I wonder where the past skeptics that introduced those ideas into the English culture using various borrowed words from Greek and Old Latin languages would have seen the words to borrow in the first place.

Freethinkers around the world promote various aspects of their native cultures and traditions. For instance, Wole Soyinka has been promoting key elements of Isese over the years, and there are many of such videos online as proof.

However, most freethinkers don't promote aspects about sacrifice, worshipping a deity, and the likes in their cultures.

As a Yoruba man, there are many aspects of Isese, my culture, that I can promote, and I have promoted some of them on this platform and others over the years.

Isese is very broad. Intelligent people select the good aspects in it and support them while condemning the bad aspects.

What we call Isese in Yoruba has its equivalent meaning in Igbo language and many other languages around the world.

Isese simply means "culture and traditions".

There are Igbo freethinkers too that promote certain aspects of their culture and traditions.

Importantly, freethinkers in this part of the world can make key contribution to their native culture by introducing philosophy, science, and critical thinking into it.

However, it's crucial to tread with caution.

"LESSONS OF ISESE: STATEMENT BY WOLE SOYINKA

THUS COUNSELS ISESE

ISESE has come, but not gone. We salute all those – human rights activists, community leaders, affronted citizens, advocates of equity and all - but the state governors most especially - who have taken history to task and boldly formalized a level praying ground for the exploration of the infinite, the realm of intuitions which exists across pedigree, borders, class, politics, social mechanisms and cultures. The battle is not over. There are those who feel compelled to indulge their obsessions through the cooption of public symbols and educational institutions. We must never weary of instructing them, of offering them gleanings from the threshing floor of millenia old and new transformative ideas, rescue them from centuries of false historicism, baseless fears, and will to dominate and/or flaunt an inglorious past of enslavement.

This notation of “ISESE” on the calendar of faiths in any nation is a vital stage in the human incessant yearning for even a semblance of SPIRITUAL TRUTH. It enacts an impartial order, inserts a critical building block in the architecture of universal enlightenment. Hopefully such formal recognition will be read as the commencement of an era of spiritual accommodation, a lesson in humility, not a trigger for sterile contestation and renewed demonization of others among overlapping theocratic realms. The Prototype of such realms, in any case, remain forever closed to any absolute, incontestable mortal certitude. Dogma, says ISESE, however lavishly endowed, or brutally sustained, can never substitute for the Unknowable.

ISESE has always been with humanity, and will remain for all eternity. The celebration of ISESE is not defined by an annual observance only, but as a presiding awareness, a daily companion that offers its essence for humanity’s harmonized co-existence. It transcends religion, since it calls to what is innate to all sentient beings, those strange advocates of Freedom who, paradoxically, nonetheless persist in fashioning chains for themselves and for their fellow beings. ISESE liberates. It is an expression of the collective human spirit, its enveloping, compassionate accommodation of human experience, yet one that strives towards the seemingly inaccessible, intuitively felt as an elevating dimension of one’s material estate. ISESE is a Path, not a destination, a seizure yet a pursuit of what we experience as the inner quest for ultimate illumination. ISESE does not conclude. neither does it exclude. It does not diminish, rather, it enlarges. It teaches community to embrace, explore, and adjust. It defends the right to believe or not believe, acknowledges the limitless variety of phenomena, both what is provable and non-provable. ISESE promotes, as foundational consciousness, gratitude for, and sanctity of human life. It repudiates the supremacist claim of any structure of spirituality over another. Content with the pursuit of inner serenity, which is the climax of, and extraction from celebration, ISESE does not seek to exercise power. All true religions know that celebration is prelude to community equilibrium.

Preoccupied with the larger, imponderable questions of existence, ISESE does not thereby neglect the particularized. Thus, it concerns itself with the fate of every unit that makes up community, and is innately bound to engage in questions such as: “What is a youth, by name MUBARAK BALA doing in prison? Recall, ISESE upholds the right to believe or not believe, thus the question is not trite, it is not academic, but is instantly catapulted from the particularized to the universal podium of Justice. How does a nation define itself, when a youth can be sentenced to waste his years of mental prowess in prison, for no crime beyond the right to believe or not believe? ISESE speaks to individual and collective conscience. ISESE calls on those misguided forgers of human chains to respond to a plain question: why is that youth, and undoubtedly numerous others, wasting away in hidden dungeons, for crimes that the very protocols of nation definition, known as the Constitution do not recognize. ISESE asks, WHEN is Justice? And what is that ensign worth, if it fails to fulfill the primary condition of social accreditation which is – Justice!

Justice, for which another name is Equity, walks hand in hand with Tolerance. Tolerance is simply according others the right that we exercise on our own behalf. Do we need to seek far and wide to embrace the position of ISESE on the elementary virtue of Tolerance? Not in the least. In any neighbouring household to nearly every other dwelling in this nation we shall encounter those whose Scriptures extol this very virtue. Listen to the following from the very words of the Prophet, Mohammed.
The first, from Chapter 2 Verse 256, commands:
“Let there be no compulsion In religion: “
Permit me to repeat that, to drum it into the calcified eardrums of the incorrigible:
“Let there be no compulsion in religion”
Thus declared the Prophet Mohammed in his own person. Even further, from Chapter 10 Verses 99--100:

“If it had been the Lord's Will, they would all have believed---All who are on earth - Wilt thou compel mankind, against their will, to believe?”
That latter part once more, an unambiguous exhortation, even though couched rhetorically:
“Wilt thou compel mankind, against their will, to believe?”

Now, place those pronouncements side by side wih odu IKADI from the Scriptures of Ifa, the Muse of Divination as handed down through the priests of Orunmila:

B’omode ba nsawo ogboju, bi o ba ko ogbo awo lona, kio o gba a l’oju. Bi o ba ko agba isegun, ki o je e n’iya lopolopo. Bi o ba burinburin ti o ri agba alufa nibiti o nfi ori k’ale, ki o d’oju re de ‘be. A da a f’awon alaigboran tii wipe: Ko si eniti o le mu won. Ee ti ri? Eyin ko mo pe: Ajepe aiye ko si f’omo ti o na Ogbo awo. Atelepe ko wa fun awon ti nna agba isegun. Omo ti nna agba alufa nibi ti o gbe nkirun, iku ara re lo nwa. Warawara ma ni iku idin, warawara.

Translation:
“The brash youth encounters an ancient diviner and strikes him. He meets an old herbalist and humiliates him. He runs into a venerable moslem priest kneeling in prayer and pushes his face into the ground. Ifa divined for such inssolent ones who boasted that they were beyond correction. Is that so indeed? Don’t you know that a youth who strikes a priest of Ifa will not partake of this world for long? Premature is the death of the youth who strikes the devout imam at his devotions. Twitches and spasms mark the death of maggots. Squirming and twitching.”

This divine odu is prescribed despite the fact that, just like its elder sibling faith, christianity, islam invaded the black world, subverted its traditions, its worldview and spiritual certitudes, often violently and contemptuously. Each aggressor rivaled the other violence for violence, contempt for contempt, enslavement for enslavement. Both of them ruthless iconoclasts, yet, what wisdom does this constantly defamed religion – glibly maligned as idol worship - prescribe for its own adherents? Tolerance! Tolerance, it enjoins, tolerance! You humiliate the Moslem, christian or indeed any religious cleric, warns Ifa, your fate is as the loathsome death of maggots.

ISESE insists that godhead is not so inadequate that it requires the inflicted suffering of humans, their abuse, torture, and degradation, their recurrent tribute of tithes and offerings in blood transfusion in order to make the essence of godhead manifest, neither does it decree, as a condition for admission into its manifold, the absolute, uncritical veneration of avatars and prophets on its way to ultimate enlightenment. ISESE declares that any such pronouncement or proceeding serves only to inseminate terror, not piety, and thus, remains an abomination in the very sight of godhead. ISESE preaches mutual respect, but insists on the primal sanctity of human life. ISESE turns its face against murder, such as the brutal ending of the girl student Deborah Samuel. ISESE demands justice for that martyred girl, for her family, for her community and – indisputably, the nation itself. ISESE must not rest until all the perpetrators of that hideous crime are brought to justice, including those purveyors of sectional HATE and DISCORD who applauded the deed, including those who have obstructed the cause of justice. ALL are guilty of instigating others to emulation. Any society that thinks or acts otherwise, even by omission, has chosen the path of disintegration.

ISESE enjoins patience with those who, even while they fill themselves with pride of learning, fail to distinguish between the worship of idols on the one hand – such as some ancient practices that their own religions supplanted - and the symbolic evocation of godhead through images, music, performance and material designations, including life sustaining facets of Nature, be these rivers, mountains, earth and seasons. Most times, such ignorance is feigned. It is deliberately propagated in order to justify their claims to superiority thus promoting an agenda of subjugation, enslavement, and other forms of dehumanization, including racist theologies. This distortion then sanitizes a yet ongoing retrogressive history of the division of the world into The Chosen and – The Disposable. We must remain aware of this colossal, costly deficiency, remain hopeful however of the eventual transformation of such active vectors of historic errors, remain even tolerant of their persistent, negative sermonizing. However, we must present a stern face in defence of our own community of faiths, centred on humanistic values. ISESE preaches that humanity is absolute, not relative, that humanity is one, or not at all.

ISESE urges further that we even extend a hand in generous fellowship to those who choose to emulate the ways of their marauding ancestors, who sing praises of their spiritual and cultural enslavers.

Through example, we may bring them gently into the manifold of this family of faiths that boast of never having launched a war or laid humanity to waste in order to enthrone a monopoly of faith. ISESE is not, has never been at war with any other commonwealth of beliefs – it is content to leave its doors open to the curious, the intrigued, and even the hostile. ISESE does not dictate, it does not maim or kill. We can only commiserate with those who confuse true religions with sinister cults that have sprung, ironically, from schisms within their own doctrinal certitudes. Cults, let us continue to instruct, are the malignant outgrowths of spiritual malformations. Symbols, such as religious statues are deployed to focus the mind on the ineffable. The genuine Path seekers must remain unwavering, and patiently await their detractors’ day of illumination. The Paths that lead to wisdom will survive them all, and continue to beckon to others as seekers after Truth, dedicated to the creation of the elevated community of man, woman and child.
These constitute mere glimpses, albeit basic, into the heart of ISESE, and its abiding articles of faith. Because its precepts are humanistic and universal, ISESE can never be diminished. It is here for all eternity." — Nobel laureate Wole SOYINKA

Yesterday, Prof Wole Soyinka organized a conference on Isese and related topics in Lagos, and it was attended by eminent people such as Sowore, Tunde Kelani, and others.

I'm looking for the video of the event and will post a link to it here when I find it.

We need more of such gathering of thinkers in Africa. You can't lay claim to intelligence if you don't value your culture, know the history of your ancestors and forebears, and know the history of your people.

This hypocrite here making silly posts all about believes Africa history is useless and has no value. Only a person with the lowest IQ utters such a stupid statement.

No people can grow and develop unless they know their history. Knowledge of history is highly important because, among other benefits, it allows the present generation to learn of the achievements of the past generations and their mistakes so they can avoid repeating the same mistakes.

It allows for transfer of knowledge over generations, which is a key feature of civilizations around the world. A people can grow to become a powerful civilization over time if they can build on achievements of successive generations over time.

But you'd have to spend months to explain to a person of low IQ why he should learn the history of his people. Intelligent people around the world spend millions of dollars to preserve the history and culture of their people because they know a people that have no history are like a house without pillars of support.

When you don't know your history as a people, it shows the majority of such people have a low level of intelligence, and more intelligent people will rewrite your history for you and use it to enslave and colonize you.

Apart from being a dolt, something fundamental is wrong with a person that says Africa's history is useless and has no value.

A top 4 finish for us means a good season for me. Any other thing na jara

Chelsea mustn't fail to qualify for UCL again this season. A top 4 finish is the main thing this season, even if that means we don't win any of the local trophies.
