Only an alliance with the other parties (except APC and PDP) could have boosted his chances. And many youths (including those of us on Nairaland) would have actually supported him if he was able to pull off such an alliance.

I don't have the time for nonsensical discussions.

I didn't bother to read that epistle in my mention that lacks substance. It's no longer nuances this time around.

When African history is wiped out and African cultures abolished, I'm sure that will transform the continent in no time.

The solutions to the problems in Africa: Wipe out African history because it's useless and has no value; abolish African cultures because they're barbaric and savage; adopt the culture of the colonial masters.

Clap for yourself. Go and preach to your fellow Ibos offline.

Ask Google. The statement is clear, and I believe only his people at home can cure his foolishness with some critical advice.

He considers the Ibo culture useless and barbaric, like all the other cultures in Africa. Point out the nuances in that. Shouting nuances all about without knowing the meaning of the word.

God.

You're simply too fixated on your own points that you even even want to consider an alternative perspective at all.

Heck, do you know what nuances are? Or do you understand that different things can be truthful at the same time??

You're really coming off as all these hotep peeps. An extreme wokist.

It is okay to be woke, and to be culturally aware, but not to the point of whitewashing one's race.

How do you dismiss his submission, calling it a tripe that you won't read, and then sticking your own conclusion and judgement and labels on him by all means?

If you cannot be bothered to READ his comments, then I don't think you're in any place to misjudge or misquote him, because in one of his responses above, he clearly went into the reasons WHY African cultural practices are barbaric. And because you come for my head, understand that why something is a way is different from ALL things being a way.

Do you think there's nothing you can learn from him? Like, you think you've reached the enf of knowledge and you're always right?

You cannot dismiss the truth in some of what he's saying and if it's that you disagree with him making it generalised, fine. Definitely not all of African history is barbaric, useless and what not.

Again, he clearly punctuated that his CRITIQUE of African cultures is not from a place of "eurocentricism", but you wouldn't know that, since he you didn't read responses, right?

If I criticise some things that Yorubas do, does that make me anti-Yoruba and and an Igbo supremacist?

I absolutely agree with the bolded part of your comment, and perhaps if it was that idea, air that your submissions come with and direction the whole conversation took, it might have been fruitful.

You're making generalisations the same he is, buried in clapbacks of haughtiness, insults and whatnot.

All of this is just...uck. Some many times you've said how the conversation is above you and you won't dignify with a response, but you keep circling back, responding from the sides, going back to quote him again.

Do you just want to keep posting into an echo chamber? If you believe his points or his quoting you is not worth your time, effort, why haven't you "dead" the back and forth a long time ago?
I don't have time to read your nonsense. The poster you're defending here said "African history is useless" in literal sense, and you're talking about nuances.

He used the word literal that everyone here saw.

Donjazet2:
Sure, it's interesting to feed that curiosity of how life was long ago, but that information is of less relevance and practicality to your own life. That's what it means for history to literally be useless or of less relevance.
Do you know the meaning of literal? I don't think so.

Point out the nuances in "African cultures are savage and barbaric, and they should be abolished and Africans should adopt the culture of their colonial masters".

If you can't read and comprehend simple statements in English, that's your problem to deal with.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by A001:
If you want to discuss cultures in a way that shows you know what you're talking about, you criticize the ills in other cultures of the world just as you do with African cultures.

There are ills in all cultures of the world, not just African cultures, and these are the bad aspects to be condemned and abolished.

Preach your useless white supremacist, afrophobic ideas to your fellow Ibos offline.

I think your takes as well as donj's can exist as truth in their own right.

So many non-important aspects of Africa culture should be abolished and put out forever....
There's nothing like African culture, but African cultures.

He doesn't know what he's talking about, and he's just arguing blindly all about.

Sensible Africans promote the good aspects of their culture and condemn the bad aspects.

Every culture in the world has good aspects and bad aspects. And every culture in the world has a barbaric past.

It's not limited to African cultures.

Promote the good aspects of your culture and condemn the bad aspects and call for the bad aspects to be abolished.

Intelligent people do this all over the world to refine their culture and keep it relevant in modern times, but the foolish ones among them especially in Africa, condemn the whole culture.

Every culture should be dynamic and change with time, not holding onto beliefs about deities, juju, and the likes in modern times which have no tangible importance.

The advanced cultures of the West today went through drastic changes over the years where the people assimilated the good aspects of various cultures around the world in Asia and Africa they came in contact with.

Whether it's the shrines of the local gods/deities or the shrines (churches and mosques) of the foreign deities, all these have no use in modern times except as historical items (museums).

The Trouble with Tribe

"Why are you a tribe when there are no tribes in Europe?

When was the last time you heard about Welsh, Scottish, English, Irish, Celtic, Gaul, Alamanni, Franks, Angles, and Saxons tribes?

Wales, Scotland, England are countries whereas Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, Efik, Edo, Ibibio etc are classed as tribes!

A wise saying in Yorùbá goes thus: “Àpèmọ́ra là ńpe Tèmídire”

In other words, each person must advance his/her own interests.

The literal translation of this aphorism is: “It is in furtherance of one's own fortune that one calls the name ‘Tèmídire’”.

The name Tèmídire means “My affairs have prospered”.

The populations of Scotland and Wales are 5.5 and 3.1 million respectively and they are countries within the United Kingdom.

In 2008 the Welsh Government issued the following statement:

"Wales is not a principality. Although we are joined with England by land, and we are part of Great Britain, Wales is a country in its own right."

"With a population of more than 45 million people, Yorùbá is a great nation. It is not a tribe. Stop calling Yorùbá a tribe, it is an insult.

"How can Wales with a population of 3.1 million be called a country/nation but Yoruba with 45 million+ be referred to as a tribe?

"Back to the earlier Yorùbá aphorism, we are responsible for what we call ourselves. Let's stop using the term “tribe” to describe ourselves. It is outdated and demeaning!

"Yorùbá is a nation currently trapped within the political contraption called Nigeria. Period!

According to Google:

"Nation is a large body of people united by common descent, history, culture, or language, inhabiting a particular state or territory.

"Tribe is a social division in a traditional society consisting of families or communities linked by social, economic, religious, or blood ties, with a common culture and dialect, typically having a recognized leader.

"I asked ChatGPT the following question:
"Why are ethnic groups in Europe not called tribes?"

Its reply is as follows:
'''The term "tribe" is often associated with groups of people who are perceived as primitive or uncivilized, and is therefore considered by some to be a derogatory term. In addition, the term "tribe" historically referred to groups of people who were united by a common ancestry, language, or culture, and who often had a hierarchical or authoritarian social structure.

"In contrast, the ethnic groups in Europe are typically defined based on shared cultural, linguistic, and historical characteristics, rather than a strict genealogical or ancestral connection. These groups may also have more complex social structures, and may not necessarily fit the traditional definition of a tribe.

"Furthermore, the use of the term "tribe" to describe groups of people has been increasingly criticized for perpetuating colonial and racist stereotypes, as it has been historically used to describe non-Western societies and cultures. As a result, many academics and researchers have shifted towards using more neutral and descriptive terms, such as "ethnic group" or "cultural group".
'''

"Expunge tribe and tribalism from your vocabulary. Henceforth, use nation, nationalism, ethnicity, ethnic group, people etc.

Ire o."

I sure do when I accept life only exists on earth and that his elementary conception of god is the truth.

When talking about God's existence, his concept of god and the gods of religion no even come close.

They're what you call ungraded in an exam.

They're childish approaches: any approach that sees God as a human is elementary, childish and too limited.

They're out of the question.

The best so far are Otemic approach, deism, "God is Nothing" or "Nothing is God". All these have depth, especially the Otemic approach has a lot of depth and is developed based on some ancient, seminal philosophy.

Even so, I'm agnostic about it unless I see solid evidence.

Different concepts/approaches to God:

"God is a human (male or female) " - not wise, approach is elementary
"God is good" - not wise
"God is evil" - not wise
"God is nature" - wise
"God is unknown" - wiser
"God doesn't exist" - wiser
"God is Nothing (neither good nor bad)" - wiser
"God is Everything (both good and bad, neither good nor bad) " - wiser and has depth

Sense here is relative. He does have the ability to engage intellectually but not intelligently.

Ability to read does not mean ability to comprehend

Ability to comprehend does not mean ability to analyse

Ability to analyse does not mean ability to make informed decisions

Ability to make informed decisions does not mean ability to take responsibility

At the end it boils down to responsibility

The guy has not reached the level of comprehension not to talk of responsibility
When I validate the beliefs about your god you've cooked up, I know I would have reached that level of comprehension.

Your conception of god is even one of the most elementary I've come across.

You'd still need to copy ideas from more advanced approaches to God from other religions and philosophies so the concept can address philosophical issues such as the problem of evil, something arising ex nihilo (from nothing), and others.

And when you're done, you'd only be creating a concept of god the pagans had formulated in the past.

There's hardly any God concept formulated in modern times that doesn't have its roots in paganism and hadn't been developed by the pagans in the past.

You're so confident your god exists, out of all the thousands gods in human history and you expect educated people to believe this your narrow view.

Evidence: That's all you need to provide to prove god as you see him/her/it exists.

Without that, your god will only join thousands of others created by humans in history, all of them man-made.

Your concept of God is well understood but lacks evidence.

You're so intelligent and so widely traveled around the Universe that you confidently asserted life only exists on Earth and no anywhere else in the Universe all in a bid to make your concept of god seem genuine.

Even the most top-rated scientists in space science won't say such.

The founding fathers (Greek philosophers) of the so-called advanced cultures in the Western civilizations schooled in ancient Egypt (Kemet), which was originally built and developed by black Africans.

The Europeans and Arabs destroyed the history of the blacks that built the ancient Egyptian civilization. They won't be able to bury the truth forever, and more people like Otem will arise in the future and reveal black history and their achievements in the past worlds.

African empires had been world powers in the past. Today, it's the turn of the Europeans, Americans, and Asians. Tomorrow, it'll be the turn of Africans.

That's the cycles of life. Life is not linear but occurs in cycles.
