Nice game by Rondo though he can be erratic at times but can be very good too.He needs to work on his shots to become an elite PG

EPL clubs have been leading in finances for a long time.

That is not news. Medieval time? Dont be ridiculous. The EPL just produced their first player of the year recently. what happened to the fabled management style, stability and what have you when all the good players chose Italian league,
So because FC Porto won CL in 2004 means they were the best league. Now means C.R 7 won player of the year what happened to a league that has produced several and the last one in 2007.
Thats debatable EPL clubs have not always been that rich!! besides Utd the likes of Arsenal,Chelsea and Liverpool where struggling till the EPL got repackaged and all kinds of money Russian,Arab and other foreign investments where made in the league to make the teams what they are today
We all know FIFA has a special bias towards Italian and Spanish teams
Why are you using FC Porto as an example? Where there 3 Portuguese teams in the UCL semis that year?

dayokanu:
Arsenal has only gone beyond the q finals once. Is that what you call consistency? If a team has been playing for 12 years and has not done anything meaningful, consistency like Celtic and FC Porto right? That means in your own consistency Arsenal and FC Porto are more consistent than Milan who have played 3 finals in 6 seasons
Yes it is consistency 10 straight years in the UCL is not a joke because bottomline is they make the UCL knockout phases at least.I don't know why you are bringing Milan in this argument no one is talking about Milan i am talking about the other Spanish clubs you mentioned so stop shifting the goal post

Villareal played the semis Sevilla, Atletico, all qualified from their respective groups. These are teams outside the regular suspect performing relatively well in the CL.
I want to believe you understand the meaning of consistency.Villareal made the semis in 06 and couldn't make the UCL for the next two seasons!! they are in now who knows when next they would make the Champions League? Athletico did not make the UCL since 1998.Last year was Sevilla's first time in the UCL!!
Bottomline there are only two consistent and top teams in Spain Barca and Madrid.Valencia used to be there but they have faltered lately the frustrating part is you did not even answer my question  tongue tongue

dayokanu:
A40,
Italy has Inter, AC Juventus and Roma these clubs are as big as they get They have strong financial backing and a RICH HISTORY to back them particulary the first 3. The greatest players in world football have graced these clubs

Ronaldo Lima, Platini, Zidane, Weah, Rivaldo, Figo, Kaka, Ronaldinho, Baggio, Van Basten, Papin, Matthaus, Cannavaro
All played for at least 1 of the 3 clubs. and what again this is the list FIFA world player of the year from inception save for 2 (Romario and C Ronaldo).

No one can ever beat this!!!!
Why not put up the list of the richest clubs in the world right now and see how the EPL dwarf Serie A clubs? You don't have to go into medieval times to bring up names of players our argument is based on now!

Challenge means break into top 4

What do you make of Italian top teams like Inter, juve AC Milan and Roma. AC Milan dropped out last season because they were poor while the gap between them and Fiorentina financially is huge.
AC Milan dropped out and what did Fiorentina go on and do in their place?Did they set Europe on fire? I am talking of challenging on a consistent basis here and not flukish and freakish results besides before that year when last did Fiorentina make the UCL? maybe when they had Batistuta

dayokanu:
Villareal pushed Barcelona to the 3rd position last year. Spain used to have something like a Real, Barca, Valencia, Depor in CL but the smaller teams pushed them out and the Real and barca had to buckle up. Sevilla pushed Barca and madrid hard 2 seasons ago, Sociedad did like in 2003 these are outside the regular.  which team in England has challenged the big four and broken into their ranks? Lack of competition

In EPL  Liverpool and Arsenal have been so poor in recent years but the others cant just have the courage to push them out of top 4.
Valencia had financial trouble and so did Depor so how on earth do you expect them to still be up to speed with Madrid and Barca!! are you kidding me? of what use is challenging for a UCL place one season and almost getting relegated the next where is Real Sociedad and Deportivo now? Name 4 clubs in any one league with the stability that the likes of Chelsea,Arsenal,Man Utd and Liverpool have thats all i ask? If you can't do that then we argue in vain

There are big teams and small teams every where not in England alone but why are the "small teams elsewhere visible and challenge the power houses like I showed you and In EPL they cant challenge.
Dont bring the money issue cos No one can compare the finances of Barcelona to Numancia, bayern to Hannover or Juventus to Cagliari.

which transfer window? The only player that were bought Arshavic Tosic and Ljalic. Madrid also bought Diarra and Huntelaar in that period.
What do you mean challenge? That term is rather abstract you know! the question is do they challenge on a consistent basis or are you hinging your analysis on one or two freakish results that happen from time to time?
As for the other leagues in Europe name any one of them that have 4 teams with the financial muscle that the big 4 of the EPL have?
Ok so i forgot to leave out transfer deals of Man City and Tottenham but my point is there is too much cash flowing among the upper echelon of the EPL and its way tougher for the smaller teams to break in

The EPL is still the strongest league in Europe you shall discover that this week
Politics › Re: Western Style Democracy: Really The Answer For Africa? by A40(m): 12:57am On Feb 22, 2009
Lol the truth is we have not had true politicians since the inception of our so-called Democracy i mean people who are really there to serve the masses what we have are political jobbers and opportunists who are only out there to embezzle funds till their wallets and bank accounts become obese!! the problems are not with the laws and the constitutions itself it is with leadership and the crooks we have entrusted to steer our country's ship

Ibime:
There is no style of Government that can suit Naija.

Igbo's prefer village democracy, Yorubas prefer hereditary monarchy, Hausa's prefer Caliphate by consultation or election; whilst in Ijaw land, whoever can raise the biggest war canoe house can vie for the Kingship. Lets call the whole thing off!

Till date, Buhari and Idiagbon are the best things that ever happened to Naija. Thats what we need, a strong good-hearted military dictator to clear the decks. We deserve it, cos we have proved ourselves to be undemocratic.
We could always split if all else fails. . .The old Yugoslavia is now made up of at least 4 or 5 countries so its all gravy
The problem with military dictatorship is they all start good!! Idi-Amin started good so did Kabila and same for Abacha so who is to say Buhari and Idiagbon would not have turned into monsters

Honeric That has always been my point. Soon they might say Honeric=Dayokanu.

To some people EPL is just about 4 teams Man utd, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal.

How many times has a mid table team represented EPL in the CL?or any team outside the Big 4 ? This year Milan is in UEFA cup, bayern was there last year. Let them send Everton, Aston Villa, Portsmouth, Tottenham into the CL and lets see if we would have 4 of them in the knockout stage
There would always be small teams and big teams in the EPL you need to live with it can you sincerely compare the finances of the Big 4 in England to the rest of Europe?Infact the last transfer window was a clear pointer!! the money spent by the top clubs in the EPL was double that of Italy,Spain and Germany combined! these teams are so well managed and are sitting on so much cash that it would always be tough for the smaller teams to challenge them effectively hence their consistency in European competitions. Its so simple even a caveman can understand it
Even the so-called Fiorentina that made it into the UCL crashed out in the group stages,Everton also did not make it past the first rounds of qualifying some years back so the pedigree of the big 4 do matter!! besides any top team in Europe would struggle to come 4th in a league with Man Utd,Arsenal,Chelsea and Liverpool
