The guy reporting says this guy first went to his mother's house and threatened her, then went to his house earlier and threatened his wife, then came back to threaten him and his wife again with guns...and just left 3 minutes ago.
Again I am NOT justifying police brutality. Only adding context.
Police hearing that a convicted felon on probation for gun charges is currently running around threatening people with guns could potentially be a little bit tense.
Perhaps the guy shouldnt de dragging with olopa in that case
I'm not arguing about whether the situation was tense or not we are talking of the use of excessive force on an unarmed man.
An unarmed felon is still unarmed. Afterall I saw the police arrest Dylan Roof who just shot up a black church and he was not treated like this.
No context is needed here. This style of arrest is what I would expect from Bakassi boys, Amotekun or Egbesu and not actual law enforcement. No gun was found on the man as your video showed so what was all this force for?
olabode89: Bro! Yankee na jungle. Have you noticed that in all videos relating to police misconduct and excessive use of force that are usually agitated, tensed and sometimes out of control.
Like in the video you posted they waited for over 30 seconds before giving the dog the release command. The idiot with the taser didn't have to scream like a pig on heat for people to move away.
Tense environment is not an excuse for use of excessive force. Will never buy that argument.
If your overriding aim is to arrest and not kill or rob the person of their dignity then it behoves on you to know where you have crossed that boundary.
You released dog on a man that had already hit the deck and given his hands to be handcuffed with his face to the ground. Nkan ti o da o l'oruko meji
nihilistjnr: Let us be careful about the way to jump to shout racism.
From what I could see in that video,
1. The police were trying to arrest the man 2. The babe was obstructing the police from doing so 3. The guy appears to attempt to japa, before they release the dog on him.
Ok now that's out of the way, the force they used was excessive. Once they had the guy with hands behind his back, the dog should be off him. The police man aiming the tazer at the man, and the camera woman was doing too much. He also didnt need to step on the man.
HOWEVER, there also appear to be some mitigating factors.
1.The victim is on parole for gun charges, and is a known gang member in the area. 2.The police were there to investigate a report that this man specifically, had broken into someone's house earlier in the day, pushed a woman to the floor and waved a gun around in her face.
This kind of context is not apparent from the video. Not that it justifies it the violence or excuses it...but it does add nuance.
With all of this my take is this:
1. Police are on edge going to investigate a known gangbanger with a history of carrying guns. It is a naturally tense moment 2. The man refuses to comply immediately with their commands, and his babe is visibly obstructing the cops - BAD DECISION 3. The cops sic their dog on him and point guns at his mates - BAD DECISION
It really does come down to the history of the person being arrested. Police wont waste time to use force on such a person if that person does not comply with given instruction
All of this could have been avoided if that guy did no drag agidi with Police.
SARS will do worse to you in Lagos for less. So i think it's a case of Police Brutality for sure, but not necessarily motivated by RACE.
Make we dey resist this urge to salaye my guy. I've seen mass murderers and ninjas who shot up schools and churches get treated with more respect and dignity than this.
My point which I go dey stress am as I see am and i no go use any sugar cover am is that I have consistently seen police pull these stunts with everyone. Armed, unarmed, adult, teenager, guilty and innocent who are black. People chanted I can't breathe in 2014, they are chanting it again
Just like the case of rape, where people blamed dressing still infants get raped, where people say don't go to man's house but man will rape woman for her house, where they say don't go to club but someone gets raped in Church. At some point we have to stop making excuses for these people and call these things what they are
What was the offense of this one before they tazed him senseless?
I struggle to see the difference between these guys and SARS. At least SARS you can bribe your way out of their drama. You think these ones wouldn't do worse if their laws were as lax as ours.
Godx: Wtf.. Jesus. Shot the damn stupid dog. somebody leg is being viciously bitten the stupid cop is saying lie down don't move and pointing a taser at the woman. These people are mad
And the man was.... You guessed it. Unarmed
How many police officers do you need to take down an unarmed man. There were two attack dogs, 4 cops, a couple of tazers all to subdue 1 unarmed man that had surrendered himself
iamoyindamola: That useless black dog is a racist But what's the reason for all these inhumane acts
Lol. The dog is only behaving as it was trained. This is what you expect to see in places like China and other places these hypocrites like dragging for their poor human rights record
Roland17: My only hesitation to your argument is the fact that Madrid and Liverpool have established CB pairings. You guys are using make shift combinations of full backs as your CB and if you come up against a very good team in the UCL, you may get exposed from him getting caught out of position.
Alaba has been playing CB now since Pep's time at Bayern. I'm not sure we can even call him makeshift again. That is now his secondary position and I dare say Davies form has meant no one is in any real rush to see him moved back to LB
Ibime: I don't see what's wrong in this video. If you are Police responding to an alarm and someone came down with a gun, what will you do different? Oga please put the gun down, turn around, get on the ground, let me know I'm safe first before I investigate any matter. You think Police should just go to every call out trusting that everyone with a gun is safe and a homeowner?
I have said it, once you remove guns from Yankee situation, a lot of these situations go away.
Na wa. This guy they just killed was he carrying gun? The guy they strangled nko, Eric Gardner was he armed? Philando disclosed he was carrying them no allow am talk finish they still shot him
What I'm saying is police have been killing people any which way, from armed to unarmed from adult to teenage.
You didn't see that black guy Botham Jean, a police woman broke into his house and shot him. Why una dey oversimplify this issue? It runs far deeper and we all know this. He was an accountant btw
This is last year I think, in NC. This ninja could have easily been shot and killed in his own house by police. This thing is much more pervasive and deeply rooted than some of us here are willing to admit and sometimes just being at the wrong place at wrong time can turn someone's life upside down.
Ladyhippolyta88: His clowns will not see the sense in this. Bolsonario is a big catastrophe for Brazil. How this far right people get elected in this time and age amazes me.
Any country with the misfortune of having leaders with a lack of accountability is doomed. Most of these far right folk got into power on the recent Nationalist wave but let's see if Nationalism will pay the bills when these leaders run their countries into the ground.
Abbeybailey: Bolsonaro is a good friend of Trump and see the disaster he's unleashing in Brazil. They are good friends and a lot of Bolsanaro cabinet members are deserting the titanic in Brazil just like they are deserting Trump here.
Sounds familiar? He is basically a Trump clone and chloroquine activist that is refusing to listen to actual scientists. Brazil from out of nowhere are now #3 quickly heading for number 2.
The price for poor leadership is too steep to leave in the hands of these clowns
Abbeybailey: That's one of many reasons he's going to lose. Not only did trump call NFL millionaire players SOB because they are kneeling for justice, he was calling Nazis and Klans marching in Charlottesville good people. Do president of a diverse nation like America do that. If he can called black multi millionaires like LeBron James, Jay Zee names, can't the a@s lickers of the racist pig Trump think what he will think of them in a continent he called a shiithole.
A shame really. When Reccip Tayip Erdogan is pointing out racism and fascism in your country it just shows how low the bar has sunk.
A man who should play a fatherly and statesman role Tweeting like a troll
Ladyhippolyta88: How he entered the first place remains a mystery to some Americans.
Oh I remember the electoral college made it happen Abbeybailey how will the electoral college be this years because I know that Trump will not win the popular vote
I don't even know but I thought all his boisterousness and noisemaking was just to enter and then behave like a reasonable human being
Imagine a social network based in America trying to gag the leader of the Free World. Do you know how crazy that sounds? That is how much Trump has brought the office into disrepute. When you look at nations like Korea, Germany, New Zealand and you see how they have handled this pandemic compared to Trump how do you not shake your head in shame.
Latin America Trump Bolsonaro is also overseeing another catastrophe in Brazil. It's almost like Trump is the S.I unit of incompetent leadership
Abbeybailey: Trump is a closet Nazi just like his father Fred who passed away in 99 and that's why Eight Chapters of the KKK endorsed him already and many more are waiting to endorse him. My numero uno problem with Trump is his hate, bigotry, racism and misorgyn.
It's cringy and pathetic. No true leader will tweet what he tweeted yesterday.
He is the rallying point of hate and bigotry and that is why their foot soldiers are louder than they have ever been even in 2020.
This is the same man that called NFL players that peacefully protested racial injustice kneeling down by calling these players S.O.B's
afrodoc2: You are missing the point. This is not about blacks killing blacks or even whites just killing blacks.
It is about armed, trained, and government backed groups I.e the police seemingly going around and targeting men because of their skin color.
The men are not allowed by law to run away, fight back, or resist. They are sitting ducks and meant to just sit there and take whatever comes their way. And this is coming from the police that is meant to protect them.
The average white guy sees a police car on a dark street and immediately feels safe. The average African-American in the same situation immediately feels his life might be in danger.
That should not be the case.
No decent human should even be attempting to defend, downplay or obfuscate what we watched yesterday. That was a first degree murder.
I can bet anything that to do that so brazenly and calmly it wasn't his first execution.
These killings will never stop till something drastic and terrible happens to one of these officers and that's just the truth
One or two moments where he would have been made to look foolish but his recovery pace is fantastic and 10/10.
The boy is 19 and was playing MLS not too long ago. Not in my wildest imagination did I expect he would be half this good already. He's still playing off pure instinct which is scary
Roland17: Hamburg almost felt like they were under a spell, worse still, they escaped relegation every season until it caught up with them. Schalke’s looked good before the corona virus, they were etching towards that 6th position but they look horrible now. I would say this, while they are comfortable as far as finances go, they are very conservative with spending. You are absolutely right about the hiring of Wagner because they are not scoring, neither are they creating any chances. Worsestill some of the tactics he employs leaves me scratching my head. He moves W. McKennie across the pitch and it causes more confusion than anything. At one point before he was taken off, baba was positioned in between the 2 central defenders and you are down by 1 goal?
That Schalke team is just weird bro. Hiring Wagner of all people who relegated with Huddersfield (of course when Steve Mounie is your #9 you can empathize) still I don't think he was a great hire but it must be said Schalke has been playing abominable football for 3 seasons at least
Kopfschmerzens: Was in Ghana for the year of return, thinking of moving to the motherland. But many folks are telling me Nigeria is the cool place.
What's it like starting a business in Nigeria?
Security and infrastructure?
Ease of getting citizenship or like the equivalent of the green card?
Do y'all grant folks willing to come do business or own properties citizenship?
I will really appreciate sincere contribution from y'all.
Lool Ghana is a much saner place than Nigeria but Nigeria is where the money dey. If you're willing to take risks. Our anyhowness actually has it's advantages that's why the average Indian, Chinese man will spend 2 months here and bring all his relatives to come and enjoy the wealth
Really depends on your personality and what the business you're well versed in is. But usually the best way to go is always essential services. Computer equipment, Agrotech and Food processing, basically anything food. Building materials, Gym equipment (you would be suprised) Health and wellness products (obviously have to do your due diligence here)
Southwest is relatively secure but can't speak for the rest of the country
Roland17: BVB look like they have been training during the lockdown. They are in sync have been playing some good football since the resumption of the Bundesliga!
