olatilldend:
Silly me, I once tried this ish simply because momsie talked to me about my wayward attitude, na so I abandon my comfy home (was a very young lad in higher institution then). Picked up my school ID card (not even int'l passport) off I went to Togo.

On getting there, it dawned on me I had made a grave mistake. Money was running out, knew no one. One mind said: keep going as far away as you can from your peeps, another mind kept asking me. . . U DEY CRAZE? BETTER HEAD BACK HOME

I decided to chill and observe happenings, bought benson & hedges since I couldn't see my preferred Marlborough, started smoking right there in the park. Soon after, one homeless looking dude came to me and asked if I'm Nigerian, told him I am and he went on and on about how Nigerians are super cool and brave. . . I just free the guy somehow.

By now, I had started missing the hot rice momsie must have prepared for lunch, my imaginary ego was becoming deflated small, small.
Later I saw a young guy who told me he's from Ibadan and he's been hustling for a while. Told me I could come join their setup if I'm interested. . . na so I change my mind. I had to sell my bikers boot to raise funds to come back.

All through the journey back home, I kept contemplating what could've become of me if I had stayed back. I realized my juvenile tantrum almost went too far, if someone is gladly paying my school fees and providing for me, what d heck am I looking to get myself into? Anyways, got home like a prodigal son and went to apologize to momsie. She could sense I'd finally come to my senses but she didn't ask me what happened, although, she noticed my shoes were missing.

Fast-forward to today, I'm an Engineering graduate doing real good. None of my family members know of my little shenanigan in Togo. . . does it even qualify as that, considering the fact that I ran back home at the first sign of issueshuh

To everyone out there going through tumultuous times, please keep your head up, you will always prevail so long as you don't defeat yourself.
Ego and temperament almost messed you up. Thank God you came back to your senses in no time.
Thanks for sharing your story.

i dont know if u remember one story that was brought up here 3 yrs back about one succesful igbo man who was a succesful resturant owner based in indonesia. How this man out of his kindheart was helping some of kinsfolk to move over to indonesia and even using his resturant as a sort of temporary accomodation for some of his kinsmen who were stranded and how they later planted hard drugs in this man's resturant. The man got executed by the indonesian authorities even when he protested his innocence and it was later after his death dat he was found to be truely innocent. So no blame dose nigerians based abroad who refuse to help other nigerians wen it comes to accomodation. Sometimes most ppl prefer helpin their own close family members than friends for dhier own safety.
Oh my word.

You are absolutely right on this. I checked on Amazon to try and buy an auto diagnostic scanner, the price was $444. Then I checked the same scanner on Aliexpress and it was placed at $242. In fact, I eventually bought it for $218 after some negotiations with the seller plus claiming some of Aliexpress coupons.

Every country steals intellectual property. Do you know that gunpowder was invented by the Chinese and stolen by the US? 5G was invented by Huawei, It's quite impressive, the Chinese copy US inventions and make them cheaper. that's how they've grown to the stage they're in. For years, China was built in the silk thread. Only they had the secret until it was stolen by the Byzantine Emperor and then the whole Asia started producing silk and China suffered. Tea was stolen from China. Opium was stolen too.
China is retro-engineering everything the west have, like the west retro-engineered everything China had a few centuries back. The earlier event shifted the global economic centre of gravity westwards. The former event is bringing it back eastwards.

You should understand that, whether you like it or not, the world economy is built on theft. Without it, we won't get to where we currently are
You are too blunt. Most of these guys could start calling you a conspiracy theorist.

About 4 weeks ago, a show was held in Amphitheater on Oau campus in which Zlatan Ibile was the Main performing artiste..

Cultists wearing yellow uniforms were allegedly said to have stormed this show with the aim of disrupting the show but were challenged and stopped by Oau students resulting into the beating and arrest of these alleged cultists whom were about seven in number
Please if you're ever gonna use "whom or who" and not sure which would be correct, just slot in the respective object or subject pronouns to see which one fits in. Whom were about seven = them were about seven. Who are about seven = they were about seven. And if you're not sure, just use "who" to be on a safer side.

sino:
"But I will not philosophize, since philosophy is naught but a suit of garments for the decoration of a dummy figure.

Remember, philosophy is an argument; the world, which is your property, is an accumulation of facts."
(The Magic Story, Frederic Van Rensselaer Dey)

Apparently, you have deviated further into whatever you wish to call it now from your Quranist ideology, I knew it was just a matter of time, eventually, everyone shall receive in full, wages of their actions...

The line of questioning is a pattern which is peculiar to disbelief, and there is no amount of philosophizing that can satisfy 'the questioner', except that it breeds more questioning and further doubts which eventually leads to more uncertainties about everything!

Knowledge is never fully grasped by any human living or dead, to try and seek answers to everything, and the way you want it to be and mean is akin to being crazy! Applying wisdom to the available knowledge guides in focusing on the right questions and making the right decisions and progress in living a purposeful life. Of course, when you do believe there is God, who is all Knowing and all Wise, you do not doubt this God's knowledge coupled with the Wisdom behind the creation the way it is...Again God in His divine authority, according to Islam, gave permission for man to think, reflect, explore, investigate, query whatever he can, for at the end of the day, the knowledge you would acquire from all these, cannot help you other than submit to the superiority of the Creator, of course that is if you are sincere to begin with. Hence, when all is said and done, there is no shred of doubt with respect to the fact that indeed Allah (SWT) Knows best!

The facts about the reality of this world is what we can all witness. We were never a part of anything as to how the world or the universe should be to question why this or that, or to even claim there are flaws...

So when you talk about the female menstruation, first, this is the way the creator wants it to be, no mistakes! Do you have a problem with it?! Well then, why not start by creating your own world and your own creatures the way you want them to be, or what else does it mean when you claim someone didn't do a good job?! Because you can do better right?! And thus the challenge, do better and let's see!

The most important thing is that Allah (SWT) created this world as a test, so whatever human beings go through, the challenges are indeed part of the test, and the solutions are all within our capacity in this world, whether we understand the reasons why or the wisdom behind them, Allah (SWT) would not ask us about that, but how we made good use of the free gift of being able to choose wisely our own deeds and actions and the intentions behind them! And part of such actions and intentions may include being involved in the course of alleviating the pains women go through rather than looking for reasons to substantiate your disbelief in God!

Yeah, FYI, there is paradise, which happens to be the reward for the tests and challenges, and what is most amusing is that we all seek this place, where everything is just the way we want, just that some want it to be here on earth (which is practically and spiritually impossible), while some of us know that it is indeed in the hereafter!
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant as always.
Ustaz, please do I have your permission to use some lines in this post?

22. He ordered them to obey Him and forbade them to disobey Him
23. Everything happens according to His degree and will, and His will is accomplished. The only will that people have is what He wills for them. What He wills for them occurs and what He does not will, does not occur.
24. He gives guidance to whomever He wills, and protects them, and keeps them safe from harm, out of His generosity; and He leads astray whomever He wills, and abases them, and afflicts them, out of His justice.
25. All of them are subject to His will either through His generosity or His justice.
26. He is Exalted beyond having opposites or equals.

Question 7
On the day of Judgement, man wishes to return to ‘dust’ which is his place of origin. If he is wishing to return to dust to escape punishment, then, why is Satan who was created from Fire going to Hellfire for punishment? (brainer). Note: I will counter your argument if it doesn’t make sense or valid.

Answer:
Dust is not fire and fire is not dust. Dust sullies, fire burns. The two elements will invariably be true to their respective natures, no matter what, except Allah wills otherwise. By way of illustration: if a man were to fall inside a puddle or muck his physical appearance would get soiled, despite being a creation from that very element. So also if shaytan is thrown into fire, the element from which he was created, he will definitely burn. These two creations don’t actually represent the living manifestations of the respective elements from which they were made i.e when you look at man you don’t actually see a living dust and if you saw shaytan you wouldn’t be seeing a living fire either. This fact shows that these two creations both are different in atomic or physical configurations from their respective source elements.
In conclusion, Allah says to shaytan in Al Araf vs 18, “I will surely fill hell with you, all together. ” This is a promise from Allah SWT and he never fails in his promises. so there is no hiding place for shaytan that day. He will be cast into fire and will certainly burn.

Salam alaykum dear brothers, I read all your comments from start to finish, attentively. No doubt you commentted from your heart based on your experience etc. I agree with your points in general.

However, aadoiza said, "I don't know if I should hold any belief in the superiority one of them over the others". My simple reply is why not if there are undeniable evidences? If Quran can say some Prophets are superior than others; and (also Quran says) some sahabah are superior than others, then what is big deal in researching into the matter of the first 4 Caliphs? Let's put aside sectarian emotions and embrace pure and thorough academic research.

That issue is extensively discussed here:
www.nairaland.com/3084627/did-some-sahaba-preferred-ali

https://www.nairaland.com/3038732/identifying-khulafau-rashidun-rightly-guided

Kindly find time to read.
Wa alaykum salam
I'm not saying it's all bad having a favourite sahabi, nah. I just want to take my time to study Ali but can't do so now 'cos life's still chocking my hustle. And I want to reinforce it in my subconscious that seyidinah Ali was also human, as what I got with some of the other sahaba nearly made me despise them.

aadoiza, there is no shia mosque in Lagos and Shia is not planning to have one in the southwest Nigeria. Exceess mosques does nothing but create divisions. However, there are few Shia centers in the southwest. Besides, there is a Shia sheik that leads prayer in a local mosque in Lagos Island and he's even the chief mufasir of Lagos Island central mosque.
Are you insinuating that Shia are allowed to pray in sunni mosques, behind sunni imams? Subhanallah, the disinfo is real.
2. You said you agree Ali was supposed to be the rightful caliph but at the end he later became the caliph of the Muslim; so that shouldn't generate to what it is today. huh
At least, he's sincere enough to admit Ali should have succeeded the Holy Prophet, so I give it to him on that, and that's why he's my man. Unlike most, who would go to any lengths to annoyingly and shamelessly defend the indefensible. Shame on them for refusing to speak the truth.

it was more about the practice then than the name. Today it is now about name than the practical. I heard of the word "Sufism" first time in 2010 in sheikh imran Hussein's lecture. From discriptions and definition I came to realized most of world of Islam have always been Sufi. For instance in my household in the 80s and 90s my sheikh would only say "awón oniwiridi". It is Yoruba word for Sufism. And ilorin is the den of wiridi. I'm just sick of charlatans. They are sick in the head. I even heard that some of them recite solati fatih in place of Sura Fathia in salat. This is obvious bidiah and must be condemned. They have no salat. Although I have not personally witnessed this.
Subhanallah, so "awon alfa oni wuridi" mean awon alfa Sufi.

[quote[
I don't think it is about superiority over Ali(ra). I think they mentioned the first 3 the most due to succession.[/quote]Al least, my observation was correct. I may not know the exact reason for this though.

Now, I have learned further over the years and recently when I spoke with ilorin based Alfa. He said "truly, Ali was actually and was supposed to be the first caliph of Islam but this is òrò inúle". Exactly how he put it.
Look at the bold. This is why I don't like history, it's too subjective to worth anything. They knew the ramifications of what they did to Ali and decided to bury it. Okay, denying him his rights may be overlooked, but why perpetuating the myth that seyidinah Ali RA was meddling with affairs beyond his station. This is not fair. How can I trust I have got the truth when majority of our most powerful predecessors were dodgy fellows.

I certainly understand even from long ago. But Shia approach just can be wrong about the issue of succession and especially for cursing sahaba regardless of their status. This is wrong.
Yeah I kinda think so too. Shia approach to bring out the truth is
not very subtle but when people seem to be comfortable with lies the only way to awaken to the truth is make as much noise as possible.

So if we look at it critically, no father would want external body to inherit him. Prophet Muhammad (saw) would definitely wanted Ali to be his successor whether immediately after him or later. This is why I see no reason for ummah to fight over this because, at the end of the day, Ali became caliph.
There would have been no reason to fight over this, if only the same Ummah had condemned what these people did and pray for their for their forgiveness, trust me, things would have been a lot nicer.

We have examples all around us. A good father, imam, sheikh or public figure would not want his son to be at the forefront of everything. Instead, you let your son humble himself and lay low while learning. He son will later ascends his father's position sooner or later. Take a look at Sheikh Adam (ra), after he passed away, sheikh Habeeb did not become mudir immediately after him. It took years. It was someone else in that position. Perhaps, non-relative. I don't know who that was. Sheikh Adam's family is parallel to Nabi Muhammad (saw). After Sheikh Habeeb ascended rector of murkaz that's when disagreement about succession and rivalry started within the family especially btw sheikh Habeeb and his brother, sheikh Thaoban till this day.

Similarly, household of Nabi with respect to succession is at war till this day. My point is, blood relative (s) will always be successor. No public figure would want external people to take over his position after him. This is why Sheikh Habeeb and his brother had arguments. They have different accounts of whom their father appointed to be mudir. Either way, none of them was mudir immediately after him it was external body bcuz I'm sure sheik Habeeb and his brother were somewhat young at the time. Which means S. Ali (ra) was a young lad too.

Their father relegated their statuses when he was alive so that they do not show off. This is what Nabi Muhammad did. He used to place Abu Bakr at the forefront but this doesn't mean he knows better than Ali.
This is wisdom awon agba, however you want to look at it. It also shows that Rasool did not trust these people enough to proclaim Ali his successor before them and ask them to pledge their fealty to him I.e. He feared for Seyidinah Ali in the midst of the famed rightly guided caliphs, interesting, ain't it? Ali, who had fought in several wars and been challenged to duels, with his wisdom could not be said to be not ripe enough to hold the mantle of leadership of the Ummah, that'd be unacceptable.

Allow me to narrated a story that I do not have reference for cheesy . It was said that before Prophet (saw) passed away he informed his sahaba that none of them should inherit his minbar. After he passed away, no one prayed at his minbar during caliph Abu Bakr all through caliph Usman (ra). That's quite number of decades until Ali (ra) became kalipha. He ascent the minbar and prayed there.

Other companions who were aware of the prophet' instruction rebuked Ali and reiterated Nabi's warning that no one should inherit his "minbar". It is at this time Sayyidina Ali(ra) now interpreted the meaning of minbar. He said what Nabi Muhammad (saw) meant by minbar was his wives. That's, no one should inherit his wives after him, not prayer station.
Why I'm I not too surprised? He was wiser than them and the closest to Rasool..
