CHIMCO: Babangfda and wife went in and they came out. Pvs wrong ideology African mental4ty.
I don't really believe in the metaphysical bulls, but you are wrong on Babangida and Wife. Remember Babangida killed the Wife's son from another man (at least this wasn't such a secret). Moreover Babangida was the one that moved Nigeria's sit of power from Dodan Barrack to Aso Rock, do you know how many he must have sacrificed?....

Maybe African Mentality or Not, who is really sure?

Why this back and forth arguement? Why do Pentecostal Nigerian Christains always want to defend Daddy G O?
We accuse muslims of being violent when they defend Mohammed, but we are verbally abusive when we defend our G.O.s

jidegirl12: I don't know where you're from but where I'm from and Igbo side(from what I've seen) it has always been the mother in-law ( husband's side) that comes to stay for a while, ofcourse the wife's mom can drop in whenever too.
From my own side of the Igbo(Abia), it's the wife's mum. And I believe she stays till the child goes to church, give or take three months.

@Op, I don't doubt your story cos I have a friend whose ATM card is still with his girl friend. Moreover, one of my female cousins once dated a banker who left his ATM card with her, cos he doesn't want the girl running to him everytime she needed money.
But I think it's risky doing that.

dmcdad: Besides, in as much as I would want to give a green-light, one has to be a lot more considerate about the whole scenario. I would propose therefore, that they should fight their way into convincing their parents while praying to God fervently. If really it's the will of God for them to be together, definitely then parents would see reasons with time and their plans would come to fruition.
This is a better advice , than asking her to cut off the relationship. Moreover, there is no tangible reason why both parents are opposing the union.

I don't know about other people, but I have a little cousins that I love very much and since I found out that their mother is too "religious" to give them se.x education, I took it upon myself to talk to them. one of the girls, I asked and she told me. I make it a point to be their friends and take them through the world of se,x and all.

debsjoat: Marriage is Gods institution and not mans decision.
Come to think of it, there lots of home out there that there parent were fully in support of the marriage, but now going for divorce(at this point; their parent don't get involved again cos it will be a personal move).
This is what I have always insisted on. Cos when the sh,it hits the fan, you will have only yourself to blame.

So many glamourous and celebrated weddings have taken place with the full support of both families. But when the Reality of marital life sets in, you will wish that you made your own decisions.
RomanceRe: When Both Families Oppose Your Relationship by Abali1(m): 5:08pm On Dec 03, 2012
dmcdad: My dear.. My advice here is that u guyz should call it quit. I mean, what's the essence of being with someone, knowing that neither of ur parents wants it to come to fruition. If it were just a one-sided battle, one might be optimistic that they might get to see reasons over time and things get ameliorated. Buh the situation is like to be between Shylla & Charybdis, none is pleasant.. Who knows what the future holds for either of you.. No matter how hard it might seem, the ugly truth is... You guyz should move on with life.

Life is not fair. In other words, make do with whatever life has to offer.
In other words you are advicing her to accept the mediocrity life throws her way. She should endure marital life, when she can enjoy marital life.

An adult should be able to take a stand, even if means standing against the whole world.
As an adult you are responsible for the actions or inactions you take in Life.

This is the best advice. Op, you are responsible for your actions. No one else will share the same amount of sorrow or happiness with you.

It's quite painful, but if you do think you both can weather the storm hang on... but if one person is reluctant to dig in and fight... then you let go.

Hapiness is what I seek and hapiness is what I will fight for, family opposition or not.

I have been there and I can tell you letting go without that fight, will bring regrets of "what if"

kulyie: hehehhehehehehe interesting, very interesting.anyway i dont wish my mother inlaw death,i only want her to give me space, lol, thats not too much to ask for.at least the only reason i dont wish her death is so that my children will be able too see and know their paternal grand mother well and so that mama inlaw can pray and bless my children and pray for them.hehehehe all other things are HYPOCRISY
Kulyie,
MILs issue is not the only issue in marriage involving third party. Many people lay a very faulty foundation when it comes to relationship. In the first place why will an adult find it difficult handling his/her affairs. So many ladies saying stuffs about their MILs will be the first to table their matrimonial wahala in front of friends. They are the ones who must seek the approval of friends and sometimes siblings before deciding on who they want to be with.
An adult, should be able to handle his/her wahala without involving a third party.

Any woman who wishes for my mother to die so that she will leave in peace with me, I equally will pray that your own mother die, so that we can all leave in peace.

MIL syndrome, is two sided. The Husby's mother and the wifey's mother.

So, if we are going to wish MILs death it has to be balanced on both sides.

What is there to say, she is going to use your friend as a stepping stone. Once she meets someone in your friends company who is richer, she will move on to that person.
Your friend should cut his losses now and look for another girl.
FamilyRe: How Do You Survive A Loveless Marriage? by Abali1(m): 2:01pm On Nov 30, 2012
Kobojunkie: Love is a choice. You choose every second to remain in love or quit.
Op, this is just the answer. You choose to Love, regardless if the other party loves you or not.
The solution to your problem, could simply mean....Loving him the more, irrespective of his attitude. Or you can give up and choose to hate him equally, it's your choice to make.
HealthRe: Project Sickle Cell Disease Awareness by Abali1(op):
I am once again forced to update this thread.

This morning I woke up to the news that Zulai Buhari is dead. I saw this on NL front page. Before I could read past 3 pages, someone has already mentioned that she died of sickle cell disease. I checked other online sites and they are all attributing her death to sickle cell disease.

I don't know the late Zulai, but I feel that making a conclusion that her death is as a result of SCD is kind of wrong.

Does it mean that someone who is born with SCD cannot die a natural death or a death that has nothing to do with sickle cell complications?
Does it mean that other women who are not SS do not have child birth complications?

Once again, Sickle cell is being portrayed in a wrong light in the media....

Creating awareness is still the way to go.... you can decide to make your voice be heard or you can decide to be mute.... it is your choice.

SO? Does it mean that non sickle cell women don't die during or after child birth?
Did you also read that she has previously given birth to two other children.
Dude, this has got nothing to do with "ebulu ozu onye ozo". It's about the many lies of El-rufai. El-Rufai is too close to Buhari not to know where his first daughter is married to. That's why he deliberately attached the CAVEAT that ge copied it from someone else.
Now, how does politics concern this topic. How does the death of Zulai got to do with her fathers political ambition? Since it is not "ebulu Ozu onye ozo"
Tell me that you will actually feel happy if it were your relative who died and the only thing people find okay to talk about is.... what you did or did not do.

The family is bereaved, more so, the daughter is not in the lime light. LET US ALL RESPECT THE DEAD, COS DEATH WILL SURELY COME TO ALL OF US.
May she rest in peace

@Topic, is it not the same Buhari whose supporters including El-rufai in a bid to sell us a dummy about him being detribalised said his first daughter is married to an Igbo man?

I can never take El-rufai serious again in life. Here is a link to the post on his facebook page where he claimed Buhari's first daughter is married to an Igbo man and cleverly attached a caveat; http://www.facebook.com/nasirelrufai/posts/10151778445175128
Please did you read this........

"Another friend on Facebook and seems to be a senior military officer, Shehu Tarfa, posted this as his status yesterday which I thought worthy of sharing....some information about my political leader General Muhammadu Buhari that I was not aware of....Nasir"

I neither know Buhari nor El-Rufai, but I detest the way people bring up all kind of irrelevancies when discussing the death of one whom they consider an enemy.

the Igbo's say, "Eburu Ozu onye ozo odi ka ebu osisi, ma na eburu nke nwane gi, I' mara n' obu Ozu" (when they are carrying another persons corpse, it seems it just a log of wood. But when it is a relative, you will understand that it's human).
PoliticsRe: Buhari's First Daughter Zulai Is Dead by Abali1(m): 7:45am On Nov 30, 2012
lacidi: She died after giving birth to her 3rd child. She had sickle cell anemia and couldn't survive the blood loss after the 3rd child. I would have tought that being a sickler she should have stopped after having 2 babies. The gamble of having more children proved fatal. May her soul rest in peace. Condolences to her husband and family.
I still doubt that it's because she was a SS that cost her life. She already had two kids successfully, so it must be complications of child birth and not necessarily becuase she was a sickler.
PoliticsRe: Buhari's First Daughter Zulai Is Dead by Abali1(m): 7:20am On Nov 30, 2012
okpurukata: RIP Zulai. It's so sad you have battled sickle cell for 40years and eventually lost the battle. May God comfort your family.
Are you sure it's not complications from child birth rather than sickle cell. Why I ask, is because she already had two children before this last one.

R I P to the dead. My condolence to the General.

Nairaland being a faceless forum, does not make any of us less of a human being. Some people have been posting rubish because they think no one can identify them.

This concerns a dead human being. And death awaits each and every one of us. If you mock the dead, because you are in a faceless forum (NL) don't forget that someone your loved ones can identify may mock you when you die.

Don't kill your conscience because NL is a faceless forum. Rejoice with those that are rejoicing and mourn with those that are in Mourning.
Death will surely visit each and everyone of us.
