Kobojunkie: 1. I have been on Medicaid since about the time when Trump was still President, so I am not sure what it is you are trying to argue with me for at this point. 🤔
2. Average Americans learn to cut their coat according to their size. If they need to find roommates to meet their goals, they do it. So I am not certain why you are attempting to raise some sort of template against me on how an average American can or cannot act here. 🤔
3. This question in red leads me to believe you don't even live in the U.S., do you? No, I don't have any sponsors, donors, or anything. Rather, as I said, I pick up supplies weekly from the pantry, which is more than enough for me to live off.
4. At this point it is clear that you have no clues as far as the situations of those who in fact live and exist on minimum wage(or less) here in the U.S.A. That you even claimed you spent years auditing the State of Georgia, yet with no clue of the pantry I speak of, leaves me wondering if you have ever in fact been in the U.S. of A. When I said donor what the hell do you think I mean, abi pantry is not a food bank? Basically you're saying you live on welfare and you're comparing yourself to the average American....Stop insulting my intelligence! Even when my wife lost her job for some months she couldn't qualify for welfare so I repeat you're not the average American. Let me illustrate it properly for you: 1. Housing: You need two roomates 2. Food: You rely on welfare 3. Health insurance: You rely on welfare You're not an average American, you're a charity case and your situation is excluded from the main conversation! |

Kobojunkie: 1. What has full-time got to do with anything when I could only work the available hours so I considered myself part-time. I just laid bare my situation yet all you have are excuses to trade? What is this?
2. I meant Medicaid, not Medicare. All you need do is apply and once you are qualified for it by the state in which you live, there is no need to ask meaningless questions. It does not matter whether you work full-time or part-time. Once the state qualifies you, you have it.
3. Does it matter what I eat so long as I eat and I am good?
4. I just gave you a rundown of my monthly bill and income which is far less than the $1200 ballpark you were expecting. Why am I not to be considered an average American ? Clearly you're just looking for an argument! To qualify for medicaid, it is not just about how much you make but the frequency of your pay and the hours you work. If your $1000 a month is not regular then that can get you qualified as opposed to someone making the same amount but is regular and fulltime. This is simple enough and not worth arguing! I spent years auditing the state of georgia so i have some knowledge about the process. Next, the average American does not have two roomates and spending $100 a month on food/groceries is a flat out lie unless you have other things compensating like family, donors etc. What the hell do you mean by getting it from the pantry? You dey whine me ni? This is why I said your situation is not representing the average American, please when arguing or trying to make a point be mindful not to use your own extreme experience to claim a norm, try to view things from the general populace perspective! |

ivandragon: It is obvious you have comprehension problems.
You want me to provide context for your own statement when you were the one that quoted me first?
If you did not understand the initial statement you quoted, then why quote me? Why should I provide context for your own inability to understand?
What shock have I expressed? The point I raised in direct relation to the main topic is conversion of currencies to compare prices in different countries can be misleading and the focus should be on the purchasing power of the local currency in relation to prices of goods and services in that same country.
My write up was simple and to the point. If you want to keep comparing apples and pineapples, that is your headache. Yes provide the context! This is why most people do not take some Nairalanders seriously when it comes to intelligence, provide context for the (readers), you don't just cherrypick a point and leave the rest out, your initial reply to me mentioned only taxes then your next one mentioned expenses, why don't you put them together and relate it to my analysis of the $1200? I gave you a proper analysis from a first hand point of view of someone living in the USA, I expected you to take that in and either counter it or embrace it, I don't expect you to act like a fourth grader throwing cheap shots! |

ivandragon: You quoted me first and you are here telling me I jumped in?
Let me assume you wanted to quote someone else then.
And what is 70k after expenses? N1m?
Again, let me assume you meant to quote someone else. You're not paying attention, I said you should mention the context, did I just write about taxes alone? I showed you how your analysis of $1200 buying so much liter of petrol is not only wrong but unrealistic! Again you're missing the point, if a nation that subsidizes everything from food to petrol is only leaving minimum wage workers with less than 10% of their income for petrol monthly, why are you SHOCKED that a nation that removed subsidies is leaving a minimum wage worker with LESS? I don't think I can make this much clearer! |
Politics › Re: Is Petrol 40% Cheaper In Nigeria Than In Saudi Arabia As Claimed By Dangote by abbey621(m): 1:04am On Sep 28, 2024 |
ivandragon: What exactly have you written? Doesn't the person earning 70k in nigeria pay taxes?
What reasonable accommodation can 70k per month get you?
The person earning 70k does not eat right?
The bottom line is what can your money do for you in your own country. Any other thing is exercise in futility. Go back and read what I responded to, you just can't jump in without providing the context! We are talking about how much liters of petrol 1,200 dollars can get you compared to 70k Naira in Nigeria and I used proper analysis to show you that the 1,200 is more like 100 dollars after expenses, so a country that still subsidizes food, petrol and other things still only leaves you with 100 dollars to fuel your vehicle, why are we surprised that a nation that took away subsidies has citizens strugging to buy petrol on minimum wage? |
Politics › Re: Is Petrol 40% Cheaper In Nigeria Than In Saudi Arabia As Claimed By Dangote by abbey621(m): 11:34pm On Sep 27, 2024 |
SmokedWhiskey: The problem is a lot more complex than that....Subsidy in itself is not a bad thing (if you can afford it you may choose to give out free petrol to everyone if thats what you want), the problem is that Nigeria is almost bankrupt and can no longer afford to continue to do this.
Nigeria needs to be restructured wholistically so that we can truly begin to become a productive nation, rather than a consuming nation.
As we begin to export more and more products, the Naira will begin to appreciate and these problems will begin to fade away naturally ... I don't disagree with that but we can't keep saying Nigeria is bankrupt when these leaders are wasting resources and borrowing for their own selfish reasons. You can't ask Nigerians to sacrifice and endure hardship yet buy 100 million sUV for every Senator and Rep. Nigeria can't be productive when the money meant for infrastructure such as refineries and power generation is being used for private jets and overseas trips. our vision is that of long term( 10 to 20 years) but what happens in the short term(now-2 years) affects that long term goal! |
Politics › Re: Is Petrol 40% Cheaper In Nigeria Than In Saudi Arabia As Claimed By Dangote by abbey621(m): 9:14pm On Sep 27, 2024 |
ivandragon: Hmm...
Most of these analysis that requires conversion from one currency to the other are often misleading and negate what truly matters, which is the purchasing power of the common man, primarily, the least paid workers.
A straightforward analogy which makes more sense is how much fuel can be bought with the minimum wage?
The average minimum monthly wage in Saudi Arabia is about 4000 SAR. PMS averages at about 2.3 SAR per litre. So 4000 SAR gets you about 1700 litres of PMS.
In nigeria, with minimum wage at N70000 and pms averaging N1000 per litre, your minimum wage gets you 70 litres of pms.
Case closed. Any other calculations or conversions are just exercises in futility because the purchasing power of the masses in any country is what matters most.
Look at USA. Average minimum monthly wage is about $1200. Average pms price is $1 per litre. So minimum wage in USA gets you about 1200 litres of pms. Both Saudi and the USA have their own refineries o, not one not two but many yet we want to compare to them. Also do you know how much those governments subsidize petrol for their citizens? Finally, what business does a minimum wage earner have with buying fuel? The lowest earners in the USA are either getting on a bus/train or taking a loan to afford a car. The minimum wage earner in the USA go still pay 25% tax from that $1200, him go still pay minimum $500 as rent, him go pay cell phone, health insurance and other utility bills. Oh let's forget e go cost brother man or sister, at least $200 to eat for the month, wetin remain? If such a person has more than $100 to spend on petrol per month just know say na JUJU |

Before his first presidency, a lot of people did not know who Trump was until when he got to the White House. Those who knew the case between him and Omarosa, will realize that Trump can talk and he has followers who could not talk the way he talks but the (trash) talks are now coming back to haunt him. He had to relocate from his State of birth, and when he visits, he gets booed. His trash talk was what caused him his second term ambition the last time. He insulted Blomberg, and that was it. Bloomberg and a few young black celebrities acted and that caused him his second term. People were referring to Hilary Clinton and Trump thinking the same thing is going to happen now, not realizing that no two consecutive days are ever the same. If Majorie Taylor Greene is telling Trump and Vance to tone down their rhetoric, then staunch Trump supporters know something is coming down the pipeline. When Obama declared to run for President, everybody thought it was a wild goose chase. The birther movement started. Jese Jackson said some awful things off the camera that that was caught on camera. Eventually when Obama was declared winner, the same Jese Jackson was there shedding tears. The whole thing is coming up in November. And we shall all see it. You really out here making up things, majority of Americans knew who Trump was, he had several lawsuits against him from the 80s to the early 2000s, he had one of the most famous tv shows in America(The apprentice), he has featured in several shows and movies and let's not forget the New York five.......Just stop the lamba! Trump was already very infamous in his home state, NY is very liberal and Trump himself was a liberal before making a 180 switch. Him being disliked in NY has nothing to do with his trash talks or Bloomberg and more to do with a blue state that hasn't turned red since 1988 (36 years ago), make una chill out, Trump is likely to lose the election not because of his trash talks or his antics but simply because a black woman his running against an old white man that has already been president! GreatVocalist: Oga, I don't care if you were a Chelsea fan even before the club was created, you're still not a proper fan to me. Just because you choose to settle for less doesn't mean every other Chelsea fan should.
Yes, we're glory hunters. That's the mentality, there's absolutely nothing wrong with not wanting to settle for less. Is it a crime to want to compete for the title and win it like Man city has done recently? We're not happy with Jackson's performances, deal with that! We're not even saying he should leave the club, he just needs to sit on the bench and learn to play with more seriousness, it's not even just about the goals he misses. Don't you see how he gets shoved off the ball easily? If it was Jackson that had Nkunku's goal opportunity in the last game, dude would have easily gone down in the box screaming for a penalty which would definitely not be awarded.
Like I said, Jackson had the opportunities to score up to 25 goals. As a striker, it's not a question of how many goals you scored, as much as it is about how many opportunities you had. If to say he nor dey see opportunities, that's another case.
Don't even put Jackson in the same box with Drogba and Costa. If they had the opportunities that Jackson had last season, then the golden boot race wouldn't have been a contest for them, just as it isn't for Haaland currently.
Dude single-handedly crashed Chelsea out of the FA cup last season. I mean, don't you watch games? The fact that he outscored Rashford and the likes last season does not justify his crucial misses. He is not the type of striker we need right now.
If to say nor be Nkunku injury issues, you think say we go dey get this conversation in the first place? If to say Osimhen sign for Chelsea, you think say na wetin we go dey talk be this? Nor be Palmer score 20+ goals from RW last season? He didn't even have as much opportunities as Jackson did.
Change your mentality bros. There's a reason Abramovich's administration was successful, and that's because they didn't have the mentality of making excuses and settling for less. If not, you think say we for dey brag the way we take dey brag about trophies? Do you want us to become teams like Leeds, Nottingham Forest, and Aston Villa who were once highly revered in the league? Or even Arsenal who have been without a major trophy for two decades? Na wa for you o.
In as much as one shouldn't quit in bad days, that doesn't mean one should not ensure to do all he can to prevent those bad days. That's a simple logic. If your opinion mattered, Jackson would not have his contract extended....So stay humble and stop rambling......PEACE! |

GreatVocalist: Again I'll say it, you're not a proper Chelsea fan if you keep making excuses for someone who keeps failing to deliver effectively in a fast assigned to him.
A player gets the chance to have more than 20-25 goals in a season, but managed to get just 14? If you add Jackson's missed chances to the one he already had, Chelsea would not be in the place they are right now, and we wouldn't be criticizing him this way.
Nor be say he nor see opportunities, he just didn't take them well. He's already treading the same course this season, and you expect the fans to be quiet about that and make excuses for him? If you want to settle for less, then go ahead.
You clearly don't see his attitude on the pitch when he plays badly, dude literally acts like he's got nothing to lose, no matter how he plays -- too lackadaisical.
Chelsea is not known for that. If a player is not ready to play for the badge, then he should be replaced. We're not Man united and Arsenal, or even Spurs. Na this kind mentality make them never win trophies recently.
No matter what, I'm Chelsea through and through, but that one nor mean say make we dey ignore important details. We need quality up front, and Jackson isn't it at all. I've been supporting Chelsea before the oil money so between you & I , who's not a proper blue? You're simply a glory hunter nothing more, nothing less! If na 20-25 goals per season be your standard for a striker, guess what? That means our club legend Drogba was a massive FAILURE! Think about it, only Diego Costa and Drogba for one season can claim over 20 goals in a PL season for Chelsea.........So from Shevy to Torres, from Morata to Kai, all of them be rubbish, so why would you hold Jackson to a higher standard than Drogba? No be juju be that? You might want to go back to the history books and check your rationale. Talking smack about a player not ready to play for the badge, nigga had 14 goals, who did you think he was Haaland? We were begging for Kai to be replaced because his movement and overall play was rubbish, Jackson outscored him and you're still yarning dust! Make I shock you, Jackson is a natural winger, he's now a makeshit striker but still tries his best, stop daydreaming and wishing he was Haaland 2.0, he's not! If Chelsea wants a goal machine let the owners spend 100 million and get one, for 35 million Jackson is outperforming the likes of Rashford, Jesus, Nunes and so on, APPRECIATE MY FRIEND, APPRECIATE! |

Being to a game isn't the only criterion for determining a person's support for a team. If you've been to a Chelsea game before, good for you, but that doesn't mean others supporting from other parts of the world aren't fans.
My point is, you're making silly excuses for someone who has been a disadvantage to the team, since last season. In a game where his ineffectiveness was clearly seen by many, you are here making excuses for him.
It's either you're deliberately being dishonest or you're not really a fan, like you claim. Again you're not making sense, na you challenged me and asked the question if I was a true Chelsea fan. Furthermore, how is Jackson a disadvantage to the club? 14 goals in his first season, more than Drogba had in his first season. Nobody is saying he's Haaland or even Drogba but for a player that only started playing striker 3 years ago(Winger before), he's not BAD! Now let me shock you, who did he replace? Kai Havertz, you really think Kai would have scored 14 goals last season? How about Timo Werner? Let's face it, Chelsea fans are just plain spoiled, United, Arsenal and even Spurs would die for a striker that can score 14 goals or more right now, even the great Osimhen only scored 15 goals in Serie A! |

Seunfretty: My take on the game Sancho will be a weapon against a team that plays with a low Block... He is a different profile to wat Chelsea has
People will say Chelsea was poor today forget bornemouth was good and is far better now under this coach...many big sides will struggle against the too
Playing viega has its positive...we needed more defensive legs In transition and with long balls... bournmouth was unable to trouble is much with long ball cos we had many tall players ready to deal with with and viegra was part
Chelsea will still regret not signing a world class pointa man...Jackson is a liability
The struggle from behind was normal we played with almost 6 naturally defensive players and we had no creative leg close to that midfield base ( palmer tried dropping in many times though)
People said Enzo was missed well yes....but we would have still suffered more on transition cos Enzo won't win balls and the resultant effect is Bournemouth getting cut backs again and again ...we wouldn't have won
So as much as it looks like a dimerit we would have been much more vulnerable
I will pardon viegra for his performance he hasn't really played this long on an intense game in this system...and lets not forget he is actually not a midfielder persay How was Jackson a liability? 90% of his chances today were blocked or saved, the fact that he kept fighting is a major plus! The game didn't change until Sancho was brought in and Madueke removed, if Nkunku had started he wouldn't have scored either because the opposition didn't leave muich space until they started getting tired in the 70th minute. |

Zackattack: Being responsible is the ability for one to look after what is accrued by oneself. So it’s not a prayer request thing. Anyone who has more than what they can take care of is irresponsible. Says someone that has never seen the true meaning of life! We have people making millions per month turned to paupers because of job and investment loss, such a man even if he spoiled his children for years, the moment he starts struggling your definition calls him irresponsible......Many men are now called irresponsible for things like car accident that left them disabled, a nasty divorce or spiritual battle etc., una really think this life na theory |
