PoliticsRe: Lagos Bans Governors, Others From Use Of Sirens by abbyode(m): 9:21pm On Nov 11, 2008
I am sure that most people that are still doubting the enforcement of this directive do not reside in Lagos. Fashola govt has changed lagos in less than less than 18 months of resuming office. Whatever he says, just know that he will surely do it. I commend him a lot and honestly, we need such a person to direct Nigeria through the right direction.
AutosRe: MotorlinksNG: Clean And Free Online Car Market by abbyode(m): 8:32pm On Nov 11, 2008
I just visited the site. Cars are just quite expensive there. I think we should just give kudos to our nairaland auto dealers. Their prices have been competitive enough! Just my personal opinion please.
PoliticsRe: Naval Officers Beat Up A Lady And Stripped Her - Watch Video by abbyode(m): 1:28pm On Nov 11, 2008
rotimiorims:
i just resigned from the Nigerian Army, and i think this is sick!!! Why should i ever get so angry as to strike a woman. And eventhough i know that some girls could be extremely DAFT sometimes; you know, provoke men who deserve their respect, or at least, ''Reserve'' (if that word exists), there's still no excuse for those Naval Ratings. Any case, this scenerio looks plain to me: you was just fighting for her right that's all. I could be wrong, but it really doesn't matter.

OK here's something quick for the men/guys on this forum:

1. never try to force a woman's respect, but don't make OBVIOUS efforts to EARN it either.
the stupid ones see your efforts as foolishness, and you need to just ignore those kind of women, really.

2. Even if a man is ever going to be in a fight, it makes more sense in the long run to loose a fight to someone much bigger, stronger than you, than to crush someone smaller. But in Nigeria, these days, we have a twisted philosophy

3. when ever a girl starts insulting you (WITHOUT CAUSE), if you must, say something witty that puts her in her place and leave the scene so that she can yell at the back of your head like a wild animal. You don't have to APPEAR to have ''WON''.

Be a man.
God bless u, thatz brilliant!

AutosRe: Your Advice Before I Buy A Car by abbyode(m): 9:04pm On Nov 05, 2008
Follow igwe's advice closely. But personally i dont think you are doing anything wrong. U need a car as a matter of necessity and also as a married man with children. Just make sure you spread the payment well enough so that you can breathe well on the remaining part of your salary. Also make sure that you get a very good car (2000 model upward) so that at least you can have value for your money and appreciate the reason why u pay the bank monthly. So a car of 1.2M i guessed would be reasonable enuf to provide enuf comfort for you and your family.
Above all, itz good to be mobile and itz necessary esp in Lagos for security reasons.
Car TalkRe: New Chevrolet Optra Vs Tokunbo Car by abbyode(m): 8:30pm On Nov 05, 2008
Funseeka:
Hi folks,

It was great reading the many and divergent contributions from you guys. It really inspired my decision. I mainly considered the opinions of the people with personal experiences in driving/owning a new car; remember who feels it knows it. Often times we act on hear say in things we have little experience in. As I write this, I have paid N2.3m for a new Automatic Chevrolet Optra which is yet to be delivered due to its high demand. I can only hope to get value for my money; what else can a man do but hope for da best. I appreciate every contribution even as I wish Nairalanders all da best.

@huh
Like in other developed countries, there are internally generated Toks in UAE. Though they can pass as new, people do not take pride in buying them. because of this, used vehicles are cheapest in UAE but it has a long route to Naija
Well, I am happy you yielded to advice from some of us that you should buy a brand new car. Thatz the best jare my broda. You have just been delivered from Tokunbo's syndrome. I dont understand why I would spend over 1.5M on a used car no matter the make and where itz coming from. Itz crazy esp when brand new cars are now relatively affordable esp for the middle-class. The logic is this, if you can afford to buy a used car for 1.5M cash, then u can as well afford to buy either a brand new toyota yaris or honda city which goes for 2.6M and ask your bank to finance the difference.
Unless you do close your eyes, but i can see brand new cars everywhere these days!

Fhemmmy:
Is this for a Nigerian Road or somewhere in the western world?
For Nigerian Road, i will advice to settle for a 2003 Camry, why?

1. Resale value is good.
2. Availability of parts and labour (Nigerians can fix Toyota better than Japanese sef)
3. Bigger and looks better.
4. Durable.
I dont agree with u. Brand new car is the best anyday! How dare u compare a tokunbo car of about 8 year old with a brand new car, abeg. When exactly are nigerians going to be delivered from toks?

AutosRe: Chassis Number Or VIN Is Recommended On Every Listing by abbyode(m): 10:58pm On Oct 19, 2008
Seun, I will suggest that you set up an investigation panel for issues around inspiredm before you effect the 1-week ban on him.
Effecting 1-week ban on him without proper investigation report will portray an injustice on behalf of inspiredm.
Just my 2 cents.

I can't wait for a day Seun, The Administrator, going to separate car buyers and sellers from good technical information being provided by guys like Siena, Sultan, Ivvie and others.

I am getting tired of accusation and counter accusation by auto sellers.

If you have a minor accident with your car on Nigeria roads or Okada rider remove your side view mirror, what would you do, throw away your car? I don't think so.

I bought an accident car for Houston, Jenju even checked the VIN for me before I paid and I am still using the car till now.

VIN shows right side hit but it got fixed before being sold by the dealer.

Let VIN be posted and let potential buyer check the record. If its ok for the buyer after going through the VIN report let it be, if not, ignore the car or advert

Regards
Abi o, God bless u jare. If we talk now, ziontrain will say we have been paid by inspiredman. I dont know what else this ziontrain wants again from him. U requested for a VIN which he gave u, then u should allow genuine buyers to decide what to do with the vin. Wetin be ur own self?
Busy_body:
Ziontrain, what is the problem, you can talk to me you know, your secrets are safe with me wink You were screaming blue murder in your crusade against Inspired whose only crime okay he is also guilty of non-compliance with minimum wage . . . was to insist on only revealing VIN number via email to ward off thieves who uses the information to steal his lead and useless timewasters.

Now the chap has revealed the VIN, your crusade has taken another dimension undecided O ga fun e o. Why don't you live and let live undecided The market is large enough for all of you now. What is wrong with healthy competition? undecided Do you want his head on a plate undecided

One minute you claim to be an established dealer that wants to sanitize Nairaland, the next minute you are about to ship your first car undecided All you do, when you are not haranguing Inspired is sing the praise of a certain dealer "go *****" How come you don't have a single post advertising your own business huh If you are not *****, how much is he paying you to bring about the downfall of a fellow dealer?

1)
Total loss is the mode d'employ jargon used by insurance firms to describe any car they cannot be arsed to repair, they pay the vehicle owner and then sell the car on as salvage.

2)
After the salvaged vehicle is repaired and passes the state's inspection, a rebuilt certificate/title or assembled from salvage parts is issued, then the car is once again fit to be driven.

3)
A car that is not redeemable is issued with a certificate of destruction or a non rebuidable title so that they could be sold on for part.

LET PEACE REIGN. LIVE AND LET LIVE.
I hope ziontrain would read and understand this lecture carefully coz it seems he's an educated novice in this business. Itz always good to ask questions when in doubt. You are losing day by day and itz high time u displayed a high level of maturity which i doubt you have anyway!

AutosRe: 2008 Honda Accord Ex: For Cheap Sale. by abbyode(m): 11:23pm On Oct 14, 2008
I was at Honda Place exactly a week ago and the price for Accord '08 is N4.995M which is approximately N5M.
I think the price u quoted up there is too much considering the mileage and esp if a brand new from the most authentic honda car dealer in Nigeria is going for 5M.
Just an analysis, please.

ziontrain, when did u become the owner of nairaland?
Who are u in this forum to talk with that level of authority as if u sponsor SEUN, the owner of this website?
I strongly believe that u have an hidden agenda in this whole matter ! You are not displaying a level of maturity in the likes of siena and viperman.

I love the auto session, because I like seeing car pictures.

Truly, any novice would have learnt the importance of VIN checking from nairaland auto session.

However, as much as there as been so many threads to help people buy, the simple fact of the matter remains whether or not oyinbo man know about 419, maga go still dey pay!

Which implies, in the real world regardless of the fact that there's been so many threads to expand one's knowledge about the dos and donts of buying a car, there'll still be cheaters, and they'll still get away with it. That doesn't imply inspired is a cheater.

It's left for the parties concerned to make sure they are satisfied with their transaction. That's my point. You can't simply pounce on the biggest car dealer, and say he must either be white or black simply to make a statement or worst still settle a score, he's not your own, he's OURS!.

We seem to have over valued a buyer than a seller. which is wrong.

DOn't forget, inspired could as well leave this forum, and we could as well be left with more animals who pose as sellers.

We need to appreciate our own, his records speak for him.
Shikenah !
