But the safer option will be to buy from a brand that has presence here. just get the Tecno L8+

Brand perception seems to be the key phrase here.
I honestly don't see what the big deal is really.
I'm an ideal world "real value" should influence purchases not "perceived value" being attached to the supposedly bigger brands.
I've used a couple Tecno phones in the past did I get value for money? Absolutely.

The plant couldn't start any sooner.
We need the jobs and hopefully a reduced price that will come with it.

I think to a large extent it has.

They understood the stereotype and scepticism that surrounded their phones so they went back to the drawing board, the result is two beautiful high performers in the phantom 6 and 6+.

A lot of people on here be shouting upandan that they're Tech savvy this and that, XDA is their second home, they work with GSM Arena bla bla bla. If they would just drop all those BS aside and review the phantom 6+ objectively then the answer to whether TECNO has moved on from producing crappy plastic phones to making beautiful, premium, high-performance smartphones and should be taken seriously would be an emphatic YES.

You have to get hold of the phantom 6 & 6+ to really appreciate the fact that Tecno no be seresere again, they really mean business.

No be lie. Held the phone recently, I thought I was holding a Samsung Note 7 because I was blown away(pun intended).
The phone worth all the hype.

The Phantom 6 plus is really impressive.

Changing their name will be like starting all over. What will now happen to the brand loyalty they've painstakingly cultivated over the years. They got millions of fans already, it's only a handful of people that are hating.
