What does it mean to be consistent as a professional? Here is a true life story;

Some years ago, Raphael graduated from the university with a great result. However, due to the high rate of unemployment in his country, no one was willing to hire him on a permanent basis. He bounced around some freelance jobs as well as online gigs. In the end, he was unable to make a proper living for himself, until one day.

Raphael had gone out that day to see a friend, who advised him to start monetizing his social media platform, since he had a good smartphone and a decent following on his accounts. He went home and thought hard about it.

Now, Raphael is a good people watcher and he had made several observations about behaviors, attitudes and prejudices, which prevailed in his immediate environment.

After putting some things in place, Raphael started posting videos on his social media accounts, just commenting about life. The first year he did this consistently, no one took notice, in fact, at a point, he considered giving up on it.

With the exception of a few friends and acquaintances, who regularly commented on how original his idea was, no one cared, but, he kept the flame burning.

One day, a famous celebrity saw one of his videos and decided to share it on his page, mentioning Raphael’s social media accounts, urging people to go check out his videos and boom goes the dynamite!

It seemed like Raphael had been creating relatable and informative content overnight. Everyone kept asking how it was possible that they had never seen Raphael’s videos before. All of a sudden, Raphael became a sought after audio-visual content developer and continues to work with brands and celebrities to develop content while making a living out of his work.

This is consistency at its best. Consistency is what every professional needs in order to stand out from the crowd. How constant are you when it comes to your professional hustle? Are you gingered up today and dried out tomorrow?

Consistency is actually boring, but the end result is amazing.

What is that thing you are supposed to be doing? Are you doing it consistently even when you are not getting any recognition or it seems no one is noticing? Keep at it, one day, everyone will take notice and they will call you a genius and an overnight success, but, you alone know how far you have come in your journey.
