Shegson12345:
Hello house, someone should please enlighten me on this matter.
I have received APL from Nirsal mfb in which we are to resume work on 04/01/2021, and i just received another invitation mail to a 3 days program that will come up between 11-13/01/2021 and the mail also started our new resumption date which is 25/01/2021.
My issue now is, are we going to get pay for the month of January? Because I think they should be responsible for the change of plan.
Thanks.
congrats bro. When were you interviewed? I did my interview in September, but no response since then.

Jobs/Vacancies / What You Can Do To Remain Relevant In Your Career by AbdulAkpan: 8:58am On Dec 22, 2020
If you want to remain professionally relevant in the next 30 to 40 years, there are a few factors you ought to pay attention to.

At Lingo Africa, we recently engaged a few foreign human capital experts to give us a worldview on what professionals should be doing differently in order to stay ahead in the workplace game.

Some of the insights they provided us include but are not limited to;

Prioritizing skills over degrees: As much as degrees are important, skills should be on top of your list if you want to build and satin a portfolio career. If you aim to earn higher in your chosen industry, look at the skills you do not have and engage in practical ways to learn them.

Real-world simulations: As you learn, engage in real life analysis that is developed, applied and verified. This way, you can become skilled at solving real problems and as you are already aware, the demand for problem solving skills are rising on a daily basis.

Take part in on-the-job trainings – If the opportunity arises for official trainings in your workplace, do not exempt yourself from it. Always engage, develop and update your skills.

Be more flexible – Always be open to exploring in your professional life. If you are too rigid, you may find yourself phasing out and losing opportunities to those who are more daring. Think about Research in Motion (makers of the Blackberry phones) and how they lost considerable market share to Apple due to the former’s business rigidity.

Jobs/Vacancies / Build a Strong Network in Your Industry by AbdulAkpan: 8:43am On Dec 21, 2020
Building a professional network is critical to career advancement. Even more important than this, is to build a network within your area of expertise.

Of course, all networks are important, but, you must place emphasis on your area of expertise, so, you can grow and receive opportunities for creating positive impact in your industry.

It is not enough to just do mundane work and receive a salary at the end.

Now, more professionals are solving problems and collaborating with people outside their home country, to build stuff that will impact lives around the world.

Look out for online/offline groups you can belong to. Collaborate with others to address industry challenges.

These will help you meet more people, engage in meaningful conversations and earn a voice in your area of expertise/industry.

Do not get carried away with what some may portray. Building and sustaining a great professional network has nothing to do with looks.

It's more about looking out for those with a great work ethic and a strong determination to be a force for positive change in their chosen industry.

Jobs/Vacancies / Are You Putting Your Education To Use? by AbdulAkpan: 10:03am On Dec 17, 2020
Herbert Spencer once said; The main aim of education is not knowledge but action.

Everything you have learned up till this point has a purpose. Have you put it all to use?

Most of us are so obsessed with getting this or that certification. We want to have as many degrees as possible.

We want to attend every available webinar and engage every online course.

But, what about putting all that knowledge to use?

The antidote to unemployment is not more certifications or online courses. Instead of acquiring more certifications, what have we done with the ones we already have?

What problems have we solved? How many people have we influenced positively with the knowledge we already have?

Through Lingo Africa, many professionals out there have now understood that there is no need to get involved in every webinar or online class.

If you must learn something new, let there be a plan for when you make use of the knowledge gained from the learning platform.

If there is no such plan, then why embark on that particular learning process in the first place?

It is strange to find some young people studying courses that they do not even like or understand.

The fourth industrial revolution has placed more emphasis on making use of knowledge, not just merely gaining knowledge for the sake of it.

Sharing knowledge and insights regarding the industry you work in, using social media, is a great career growth strategy.

The only challenge is how long can you keep doing it, even when you aren't getting any acknowledgements?

Are you a consistent person or are you the type to give up soon after you begin?

Some professionals prefer to use LinkedIn to create and share industry content.

This is because LinkedIn has a large number of professionals across various industries, who are on the lookout for talents in their field.

If you're in search of better work opportunities or a new set of acquaintances, LinkedIn is your best bet.

Creating relevant industry-related content is how you get their attention.

Consistency is how you keep their attention and keep your name on top of their minds, so they can recommend you for work opportunities.
