The problem is I didn't love her equally the same way she loves me, initially I only wanted her for sex but she's getting too attached to me, and there's one certain man of God that warmed me to dump the girl am dating, which is her, my problem is how am I going to let her go without actually hurting her feelings cuz I know quite alright that she might hurt herself if I end the relationship between us. She's dangerously in love with me and I fear it will end in tears for her.

Baba this you na... For some, it would have continued till the girl decides on her own.

Here's a story I witnessed.

A friend of mine Prince liked a girl, the girl is a 4 on a scale of 10, he bought so many things for this girl just to show his love. Most times the girl will tell him she's no more interested and he will beg and beg. I told the boy to stop... Tried to reason with him but he never did. The girl never gave him sex. The girl told me one day she's tired of him, I told her to continue to milk him. I took the girls phone and she told prince she lost her phone and prince got her a new one.... Well, eventually she got tired and kicked him out.

Tho prince has packed out, but each time he comes to see me, he always asks of her. Till today.

And why would a Microbiologist want to work in the hospital or laboratory while he can become a manager in food industry and earn more than your Chief Medical Director?

The reasons people study courses that make them work in the hospital are:
1. the chances of getting a job faster than others
2. the deception that they are professionals by virtue of a license while others are not. That is the most illogical thing I have heard for years.

My boss made first class in Microbiology and he earns more than your state governor (without corruption). He is a top manager in a food industry.

How I wish any Biochemist/Microbiologist can synthesize industrial enzymes locally. He will become a billionaire in one year. I guarantee you.
I am motivated! The spirit of microbiology in me has exploded just by reading this. Which kind of industrial enzymes are we talking about and who is my target market since industries also synthesise theirs?

How will your boss pave way for me in that food industry grin. I am also a microbiologist.

I agree that there are many specialization options for a microbiologist but exploring those options is easier said than done. Also, leaving the country is easier said than done for the average Nigerian.

I have a degree in microbiology with over six years experience in public health practice. I have colleagues with degrees from engineering, different science courses, arts, education etc, many of them doing very well; trust me microbiology does not give me any advantage.

The juice is not worth the squeeze!

The lecturers in the department - some are my friends - know the challenges ahead of their graduates but since they already have a job they are less bothered.

I am not here to convince anyone of anything, just airing my opinion.

Like many have noted, it's not the course you studied but the grace of God that will take one to the top.
Absolutely. I agree with you Chief. Yeah the juice might not worth the squeeze in Nigeria, but not offshore. Have you tried to explore opportunities available outside Nigeria with that your ample years of experience?

Oil dy your head bro, God bless you for that bolded part.
first, dont limit yourself to Nigeria guys, dont. travel to other neighbouring states, you can be useful there. The internet is there for you,its not just to be update of what's going on in the world of entertainment, it's also for your personal growth. Check for research labs in other countries where you can intern if its very hard for you to start in Nigeria, opportunities abound everywhere.
secondly, microbiology is diverse, and at such, you must know the area that interest you most. For example, I studied microbiology, i took courses in almost all areas of microbiology, ranging from medical, environmental. Immunology, food, to industrial but outta of all these courses, believe you me, the only one i found interesting is medical microbiology/molecular, and that is what i cling to up till now. You can not be a jack of all trade, look for that aspect you can thrive and hold on to it.
As i will always say The sky is wide enough for all birds to fly without collision . Dont let anyone deceive you that microbiology graduates are just too much than the available jobs.
Absolutely! You hit the nail's head bro. Information is everywhere, people only have problems accessing it or have access to wrong info.

How's medical microbiology treating you bro? For me, I prefer molecular microbiology, though a bit more challenging, but interesting..

Seconded!

The inclusion of microbiology has discredited that list.

And let me remind the op that a degree in microbiology does not qualify one to work in a medical laboratory.
I agree with the latter but not the former..

One thing people don't understand is, microbiology is the most ubiquitous discipline I have ever seen. Come to think of it, a microbiologist can decide to delve into public health, just like a medical doctor. A microbiologist can go into bioinformatics, immunology, vaccinology, biotechnology, et cetera. Not to talk about the ever-extensive branches of microbiology itself, such as water, pharmaceutical, soil, industrial, environmental, petroleum, medical, et cetera. I mean, I don't think anyone would ever regret studying microbiology, if at least the person has the right mentality and tools about opportunities around him and how to exploit them maximally.

Finally, when you study a course, don't limit it to Nigeria, please look beyond your shore, dare to change the world and get the best from whatever you study.

Disagree with this?

Lol. Like I said again, private labs prefer hematologists, Medical lab scientists, and science lab technologist to medical microbiologists. I have had such encounter before. It will only make sense if microbiology is also certified and commercialised like MLS. It will intrigue you to find out we have more med microbiologists or microbiologists in the bank than we do in the diagnostic industry today..

With a functioning lab? A diagnostic or a research lab? Please clarify I am interested.

Medical microbiology, the large subset of
microbiology that is applied to medicine , is a branch of medical science concerned with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of
infectious diseases. In addition, this field of science studies various clinical applications of microbes for the improvement of health.

As far as Nigeria is concerned this is more lucrative than the normal microbiology.
Apologies, but not in Nigeria of today. I wouldn't advise anyone to study just medical microbiology, instead studying the extensive microbiology is fine, then the person can choose a specification later. It is just too specific and medical microbiologists tend to have little or nothing to settle with here in Nigeria. Remember as a Medical microbiologist, you don't have a place in hospitals or medical diagnostic labs, those places prefer those that study hematology, medical lab science, SLT, instead.. The only option I see for a medical microbiologist is settling down as a university lecturer, an option which is not always available. Or a research institute. Any contrary opinion?
