you are right about the impatience of Nigerians but do we have constant power supply to begin with? That is one major reason why industralizing the country is an uphill task
We don't have constant electricity to get industrialized and we don't have the resources now to get that constant electricity. Nigeria as a country need up to 100 thousand megawatts to be industrialized but the question is how do we get the resource to build this, when a thousand megawatts cost about 2billion dollars to construct.

The cost of doing business is high due to this infrastructure bottleneck but the question is what kind of business look attractive to young Nigerians?

Chinese labour wage is one of the lowest in the world. they pay less than $300 for a ten hours factory work. How many Nigerian graduate with less skill will take less than 50k a month for a ten hours daily job?

The majority of young Nigerians want to make money without hard work

Great work here guys. But why would people go on to use precast fascia when they can conviniently use polystyrene fascia that as far as I can see here seems to have same or very similar aesthetics. Which one is better everything considered. Great renovation. Well done guys.
The cost of polystyrene fascia is the major reason why people still do precast instead of polystyrene fascia. Polystyrene fascia is more expensive than polystyrene

It will be to China's advantage because they will export more of their products to us. The problem is what are we exporting to them apart from crude oil? those guys are developing technology that they might produce car that use sun or water, what's our faith?
Our faith is to learn from them and be self sufficient in the production of these items.

Of course not but to import toothpicks is quite funny in a sad way because it is not only about the price the consumers will pay but about companies creating employment and thus giving people purchasing power and thus enabling more investment and more employment and more purchasing power and so it goes on and on and on. Nigeria must use every opportunity it has to encourage investment, manufacturing and thus employment. The toothpick has been the funniest and saddest example but we have to start somewhere and we should start with what is easy and toothpick production is easier than the manufacturing of cars, computers or TVs.

To think that you can manipulate your currency without encouraging investment and the creation of employment is insanity.
Nigeria has been manipulating their currency rate for a long time now and ignoring the fact that currencies reflect a country's productive strength and see what they got out of it.

It is not about the dollar, nor about the Yuan. It is about what we as people have the power to offer to ourselves and the world in terms of productivity.
It is not the responsibility of government to create employment or industries, that is the role of the organized private sector. We all know government provide basic infrastructure to encourage production but when the resources are scarce people think out of the box.

The solution to Nigeria problem is small scale productive ventures, we need more road side furniture makers, fabricators, electronics, food processor, computer repairer etc. We need more small foundry shop, small iron smelting, company, small food processing plants than all those filling stations along the road.

Nigerians don't like challenging investment that takes the to yield dividends, they prefer to build 20 mega filling station on a kilometer stretch of road

of course we have access to cheap labour, and technology, but d population of China, and advancement gv it an edge.

on your second point, there are many other area, we hav comparative, and absolute advantage over China, so we can explore that, must bit be in toothpicks production only?
Chinese population is grow old by the day, standard of living is increasing and cheap labor is no longer attract, companies are moving to other third world countries countries like Indonesia, Thailand etc with cheaper labour.

Industrialization has a lot to do with attitude and government policies. Nigerians love quick money and love investment that yield instant profit. Most of these Chinese production modules like furniture, tiles, electronics etc can be done in Nigeria but we don't have entrepreneurs with the patient to invest in these ventures because it pays more and quicker to import sub standard Chinese goods for little

Okay na...we dey wait for the pictures.

Apart from the aesthetics, is there any advantage of conduit piping over surface piping for plumbing?
Cost is another advantage, it cost more to conseal surface plumbing pipes because of extra money for vent.

This is over reinforced,
No need for top bars when you not going that far into the ground.
Going far into ground depend on the location of strata where you have the required Geotechnical properties used for the design (bearing capacity). It has nothing to do with how you reinforced your footings

Since you are not the design engineer. .. . I don't think it is over reinforced.

Combine footings behave like a continuous beam and during the analysis you have both hogging and sagging moment which translates into a top reinforcement and bottom reinforcement

I always gbadun your educational post as usual, I however do have some questions.

I think I read in the first page that the height of the base of the foundation is 225mm, is this like 1 board in the raft world ?
This is the first time I have seen brazing done with 2 coaches of block, looks good. Is this a general recommendation ?
Is soil test required for fence, I guess if one does a soil test for the main build, the results can also be used to determine the kind of fence to do.
In what scenario would you recommend that blocks be molded on site, and in what circumstances would you recommend that it be bought off the shelf ?
It is like one board in raft world ( one board is approximately 300mm, but you wouldn't get that in the market) . It also a misconception about raft foundation, structurally that is called grade beam and not raft.

Brazing with two block is only possible when you are building a fence with 9'' block but when building with 6'' block it is better to brace with four block per course. A sketch below will help you get the picture clearly.

Soil test is not required for fence since they are not a massive civil or building work, but if you have a detail soil test for your house, the results can also be use for fence construction.

Block can me molded on site if economy and engineering requirements are meant.

Economy in the sense that it should be cheaper than buying from outside. Bigger jobs where quantity of block is large.

Engineering requirements like, strength of block which is enhanced by high mix ratio, proper compaction and curing
