Politics › Re: IMF Proposes Higher Taxes As Solution To Nigeria’s Fiscal Challenge by abhosts(m): 8:56am On Oct 14, 2023
As if higher cost of living is not bad enough. Now I understand why a bible says: "Just as the rich rule the poor, so the borrower is servant to the lender". IMF is dictating cruel policies to nations that go to them for help.
Politics › Re: Is BUA Cement Ex-factory Cement Price Reduction To N3,500/bag A Scam? by abhosts(m): 7:42pm On Oct 11, 2023
oz4real83:
did you read an earlier thread where we were told that Nigerian cement producers make far more profit than their international counterparts? They have advantage of having limestone deposits and local access to raw materials within than their international counterparts? Diesel is not the excuse, it is because these people are a cartel, open the industry to other companies and watch cement price crash.
You need super powers to keep a business open in Nigeria in comparison to other African countries. You pay multiple taxes to federal, state and local governments. You pay local Bales and Obas to maintain their several wives and concubines. You pay law enforcement to guard your facilities. You pay Omo-oniles when they are broke. You pay to generate your power and water supply. Do other African countries extort businesses that way?
Politics › Re: Is BUA Cement Ex-factory Cement Price Reduction To N3,500/bag A Scam? by abhosts(m): 7:30pm On Oct 11, 2023
Diesel price is up about 25 percent recently and that would affect transport cost, so factory price reduction might just keep retail prices the same.
Christianity Etc › Re: Jimmy Odukoya, Tolu Odukoya-Ijogun Installed As Church Leaders by abhosts(m): 6:22pm On Oct 01, 2023
But when they are raising money to build exotic church buildings, they would tell donors that those contributions are made to God. People should be under no illusions and accept that penticostal charismatic churches are personal family ventures.

Politics › Re: Atiku's Last Dance And The Tragedy Of A Dream Deferred by abhosts(m): 1:45pm On Sep 24, 2023
Atiku miscalculated by betraying Obasanjo in 2003.

He again miscalculated by not supporting Jonathan's reelection in 2015 and pitching his tent with the opposition. If he had stayed and helped Jonathan get reelected, he would have been in his second presidential term by now.
Investment › Re: PayDay To Sell The Company Six Months After $3M Raise by abhosts(m): 4:48pm On Sep 20, 2023

festacman:
President Tinubu do something fast to revitalize the economy. Roll out policies, programs and incentive packages to encourage SMEs and industrialization. The economy need to be production-driven than consumption-driven as it is presently. We need to deliberately export more than we import.

Dele Alake should bring his coconut head to bear on Solid Mineral sector though it is looking like Tinubu is struggling to take control of that sector according to speech at UNGA.
APC's economic stimulus would probably be a derica of garri to 50 million Nigerians. Those guys are so medieval and have no clue on how to manage a modern economy.

Politics › Re: Luring Elon Musk To Set Up Lithium Battery Plant In Nigeria by abhosts(m): 12:14pm On Aug 21, 2023
Very funny thread. Would you come to Elon's rescue when all the lazy local traditional rulers and jobless youths try to turn the new Factory to their ATM machine? You think it is easy investing in Nigeria? Why do you think the cost of producing anything in Nigeria is far higher than even neighboring African countries?
Career › Re: Low, Middle And High Income by abhosts(m): 11:54am On Aug 21, 2023
It all depends on location of person. 800k is big money if you live in a small town but it is nothing when you live in major cities like Lagos and Abuja.

Politics › Re: Ned Nwoko Demands $5 Trillion Reparations, Apology From Colonial Masters by abhosts(m): 5:17am On Aug 19, 2023
Lol. If you like, give black Africans all the money in the US federal reserve, they would return to beg for loans after a few years. Rest assured that all that wealth would be squandered and looted in record time.

The British colonized Canada, USA, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong. Why is is only blacks that are still crying about colonization several decades after independence?

Politics › Re: Abandoning The Naira In Favor Of The US Dollar: A Solution To Nigeria's Exchange by abhosts(m): 2:03pm On Aug 16, 2023
Adoption of the dollar would quell inflation but Nigeria would lose control of its monetary policy. The US would not consider you when formulating monetary policy because the USA is their priority.

Ecuador, El Salvador, Zimbabwe, The British Virgin Islands, The Turks and Caicos, Timor and Leste, Bonaire, Micronesia, Palau, Marshall Islands, and Panama all have the dollar as their official currency and have achieved varying degrees of economic success. No large country the size of Nigeria has ever tried it.
