I bought dollar @ 865 today. Propaganda does not necessarily translate to good governance. If you cannot reverse subsidy removal, please stop this nonsense floating naira policy. |
The same thugs that rigged elections are the only beneficiaries of riot and violence. Good and law abiding people gain nothing from Nigerian protest. |
Where are influencers like Reno Omokri that hyped the concept of fuel subsidy removal on behalf of their overloads? I hope they have seen the outcome of their promo? |
Nigerians are just too gullible and sentimental. What exactly did you think would happen if subsidy that has been a major aspect of the Nigerian economy for decades is suddenly removed 100 percent? I thought you clowns were bragging that there is no fuel subsidy in other advanced nation so Nigeria should join them? It is hard to feel sorry for Nigerians because you people would still believe the deceptive tweets from fools like Reno, even after he made you believe that subsidy removal was a good thing. |
Much Ado about nothing. There is no way his safety was at risk going to SA that is very pro-Russia. |
ayo2008:Obi called fuel subsidy 'organised crime' that needs to go. Does that sound like someone who wanted to be methodical in removing it? |
SalamRushdie:Atiku also promised to increase the suffering of the masses by removing subsidy and floating Naira. Only Sowore was pro subsidy. |
Petrol price would only continue to rise for now because our currency's value is on a downward trend. |
Their dollar rate is too high. People wanted Naira cards to work because they thought it would be cheaper than aboki rate. |
Ghana's currency was Redenominated. The strength is fake. If we remove one zero from the value of the naira, a dollar would be equivalent to ₦80 instead of ₦800. |
Politicians think ahead of the electorates. When election is near, they would look for distractions that would make you feel your vote counts. Why do you think dancing senator won last election before the presidential? |
I have always maintained that Nigerians are not ready for positive change. A serious government would have scraped about 90 percent of all traditional titles and monarchs. Most of them are unproductive and a constant drain on scarce state resources. |
In Russia, no one is free. Political Opposition is not free. Press is not free. So it be a pipe dream if the LG TV alphabet people expect any freedom there. |
It is not a good idea to open up Naira cards when Naira is falling in value everyday. Increased demand would only worsen the situation |
This kind of palliative is susceptible to lots of fraud. Better results would be achieved if the money is used to buy thousands of CNG powered mass transit buses that would be distributed nationwide, so transport cost can come down. |
If nothing changes, Obi cannot win in 2027 because many would not waste their time when they know the election outcome has been predetermined. |
Sometimes it appears as if APC people wake up every morning and pray to satan for ideas on how to inflict hardship on the populace. Just when we thought nobody can be as heartless as Buhari, Tinubu ups the ante. He was telling the truth when he said he wanted to continue where Buhari stopped. |
Reno has not changed. He has always been a lousy I-Too-Know clout chaser. You probably liked him in the past because his flattering tweets were favorable to your clan then. |
The case was over the moment jamb made it clear that their portal stopped using that particular result printout format since 2021. The girl is most likely keeping bad company that convinced her to play along with the scam. They would have gotten away with it if not for the Anambra State government that contacted jamb for verification. |
Has anyone noticed that most of those putin supporters here on Nairaland also support a particular wicked nigerian political party? If you like, continue falling for their lies and propaganda. |
ThugCheetah:Has anyone noticed that most of those putin supporters here on Nairaland also support a particular wicked nigerian political party? |
Be sincere with yourself. All of the top 3 contenders for President promised Nigerians suffering because they all promised to remove fuel subsidy. Only Sowore spoke against subsidy removal. I really don't understand how you convince adults that subsidy only favours the rich when that is a major life saver for them. |
How is that even possible? Would all the church attendees also move with him? |
Spraying perfume on faeces does not change it's composition. It is still faeces. You cannot float a currency of an import-dependent economy of a poor country and have a favorable outcome for the locals. The only people happy about your folly are the IMF and World Bank. |
He will bounce back when they IPO Dangote Refinery but that could take a few years. |
Removing petrol subsidy without local refining capability was a blunder. If floated naira hits ₦1200 and Brent Crude rises to 2022 highs of $130 per barrel, a litre of petrol could reach ₦1500 per litre. However, if all refining is done locally, the FG can intervene in times of global turmoil by supplying local refineries with crude oil at discounted rates. |
Nigeria is a nation whose citizens can no longer enjoy the privileges of an oil-producing state because most of the Nation's resources have been plundered and mismanaged. |
I was very perplexed when I saw Nigerians celebrating the mirage they are calling student loan. I was almost thinking the news reports detailing the content of the bill were fake news. The government's propaganda is next level. |
Lol. Official dollar rate went from 465 to 660 within one day and people are rejoicing. People truly get the leaders they deserve. |
Nigerians are always so engrossed in wishful thinking instead of critical thinking. So poor forex revenue from oil sales would suddenly disappear because some restrictions have been lifted on how Banks buy and sell USD? The fact remains that the country is not earning enough from exports to fund Nigeria's imports so the Naira would continue to lose value and cost of living would continue rising. |
