Standards of living in China

Even if China surpasses US economy in terms of size, the standard of living will be better in the US. Their smartest students choose to live and work in the US when they are done with their studies and China’s rich migrate to the US.

China has 600 Million people with average income of less than $2 per day, there is another group making between $2 - $4 a day. The standards of living for all these pple is lower than standards of living for the pple of Bolivia.

China’s pollution

Cities in China are choking with smog. I have seen videos where air pollution gets so bad, that one can barely see his hands and cancer cases have risen as a result of pollution. US manages environment better than China.

Religious Freedoms

China’s government wants to get in between you and the God you worship. It feels threatened by your religious beliefs, so it seeks to control, limit or destroy religion. It destroys churches, it persecutes Falun Gong practitioners, destroys Buddhist temples and alters religious texts. US govt is not authoritarian, so it does not feel it’s power and control is threatened by religious beliefs.

Lack of independent media

China does not have a independent media, they have state control media and they want you to believe everything the govt is saying. These state control media tell lies, avoids or twists certain topics to control the population. US has independent media, that gives you both sides of the story.

China controls your money to a certain extent

You cannot get more than $50,000 in foreign currency to spend outside China. US govt cannot control your money.

Number of Children you can have

China’s govt controls how many children you can have or how many children you cannot have. China’s one child policy has left over 30 Million men unable to find wives and start families. It has left millions of pple with a huge burden of taking care of the elderly, 4–2–1 (4 Grand parents, 2 Parents, 1 Grandson). China forces women to abort and the kids born after 1980 do not have uncles or cousins.

China controls where you can live and work.

You cannot move to any city in China to live and work there, govt has to give you a resident permit. They have checkpoints where people have to get out of buses and present their permit, the same thing way you do when you visit another country, now remember this is your own country. In the US, you can move anywhere in the country to live and work.

China does not have an independent judiciary.

Judiciary in China exists as an arm of the govt. You cannot trust the Judiciary in China to make a fair judgment if you are suing the govt, for example if they take your land without fair compensations. In the US, you can sue the govt and expect to get fair judgment.

China’s lack of check and balances

China does not have a system of check and balances like the US, so it cannot self correct. In the US, the president is limited by the Congress, the Judiciary. The central bank (Federal Reserve) is independent and the president does not have absolute power over state. Donald Trump loss of election is an example of US system being able to self correct, in China, Xi is president for life, critics and dissidents are silenced, jailed or disappeared.

China’s currency

China’s currency does not have a floating exchange rate like the US dollar. Yuan exchange rates are fixed by their central bank to keep exports cheaper. A manipulated currency cannot be an international reserve currency, as the world will not accept to hold assets in a currency whose rates can be changed at the whim of the people’s bank of China.

Also, China’s system which lacks check and balances that holds back the Yuan from being a reserve currency. That is rule of law, independent judiciary, separation of powers, independent media e.t.c.

Besides Yuan cannot be international reserve currency if they want to control how much money is leaving China. They are afraid if they let so much money leave China they will lose control of their currency and exports will be more expensive, or they will lose a lot of foreign currency that they need to settle international payments.

China thinks the Digital Currency will give them greater adoption, but they are forgetting that Alipay, WeChat and Union Pay tried really hard to expand outside China and could not do it. China’s Digital currency is likely to face the same fate as these other payments apps.
