rvp2018:
Lagos nominal GDP of 136B is as ridiculous as Nigeria GDP.Joburg GDP is around 77B.New Delhi 99B.
Lagos is the financial hub of a country with a GDP of 400 billion dollars and it takes up most of the port activities of a nation of 200 million people what do you not understand there is no port in joburg to make a lot of money and our gdp is higher than theirs overall

New Delhi may be 99 billion but Mumbai is 368 billion dollars as well no point in arguing anymore because you clearly do not understand

Mombasa port perform better than Lagos port complex of Apapa-tincab in all metrics include cargo throughput.Mombasa has more branded hotels than entire Nigeria.Mombasa GDP is about 10b dollars in my estimation.Once I get a computer I can show you comparable cities to Lagos...don't try developed world...London is the financial capital of the world...you can try India for example...cities that richer than Lagos like New Delhi..what is their GDP...If pictures of Lagos don't support that gdp claim know someone's cooked it.So check Asian & latin huge metropolis like New Delhi, Mumbai, Mexico city, Manila, Dhaka, Jakarta..look at their pictures and look at your slumpolis..and tell me they have the same gdp.Compare Lagos with Kinshasa...and coz DRC are not into lying business..you'll get the correct picture.
You cannot compare Lagos with Kinshasa because Kinshasa is in a country with an ebola outbreak and extememe governmental problems their gdps overall are not similar either so you cannot compare the two the only thing we have in common is our large population.

You cannot call Lagos a slunpolis when you are the ones with the largest slums in the world can you I showed you the largest slum in Lagos is being regenerated our slum dumpsites are beinf turned into stadiums and golf courses the rest of them are being replaced with low cost housing

So Mexico city is 411 billion dollars, Jakarta is 485 billion dollars, Manila is 150 billion dollars and Mumbai is 368 billion dollars you see what I mean now and plus Kenya is not as big as Nigeria, Lagos port takes 80% of Nigeria's imports and exports and nigeria has a population of 200 million think about it

Tokaram Group are enjoying you.. building a deep sea port is serious business.. Chinese are not in business of throwing money away.I doubt there are public policy wonks as brilliant as Chinese..Chinese is a meritocracy..they never shiet before they do serious maths. The average Chinese leader has iQ of 120-140, most have PhD and Chinese invest everything in education. They smell BS from Lagos all the way from Beijing but they are courteous to a fault..many mistake that for foolishness. If maths was good they won't give the money to some shitty Indian company..they will come do it and run it for 30yrs .Dont start us on you fake GDP that is manufactured in CBS offices in Abuja by Yemi Kale.Check GDP of big global cities and see just how l wild the claim that Lagos slumpolis is worth 136B dollars GDP annually is.I can help you with that...big metropolis that are so developed don't make those ridiculous claims.
First off Lagos gets most of the port activities where there is a port there is money plus Nigeria is a market you cannot ignore even with all the bad leadership and the corruption we have faced and are still facing we can still boast of very good infrastructure in a lot of terms. You told me to check the GDP of other big cities Shanghai 480 billion dollars, London 832 billion dollars what is so surprising about Lagos's gdp it is not bigger than any of the large developed cities of the world

I though it will be completed in two months time.Financing has not be concluded.Go slow until you get money in Lagos and construction begins in 2030 possibly
I just told you those reports were lies the Chinese came to Lagos today to sign the deal for the port officially and put down a date if completion in 30 months and mind you the GDP of Lagos alone is bigger than the GDP of the whole of Kenya.

Lekki Port LFTZ finally secures $629m loan from Chinese bank to fund
Tolaram Group, the parent company of the Lekki Port LFTZ Enterprise Limited, has successfully concluded negotiation and will be signing off a US$629 million loan facility agreement with China Development Bank (CDB) for the construction of the Lekki Deep Seaport, BusinessDay has learned.

This, according to a source close to the Group, is a major step towards the financial close on the funding for the construction of Nigeria’s first deep seaport project, estimated to gulp over $1.6 billion.

According to the source, this loan facility would enhance massive construction work at the site and would also ensure timely completion of the port project, which has gone far with the ongoing construction of breakwaters at the port site.

Meanwhile, BusinessDay can recall that the port project is jointly financed by a consortium of six banks, which include the African Development Bank (AFDB), the European Investment Bank (EIB), Standard Chartered Bank (SCB), RMB, Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) and Standard Bank.

Lekki deep seaport is jointly owned and developed by the Tolaram Group, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the Lagos State Government as equity investors.

Tolaram, which has the concession to build and operate the port for 45 years, appointed the China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC), the world’s biggest marine engineering company, as the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor to oversee the design, construction and commissioning of the port project under the supervision of an American project management consultant known as Louis Berger Group.

“This is a real game-changer for us, doing project financing of this scale, it is not easy to raise money for a factory-you need $30 million, $50 million. But you want to raise $800 million? That’s a whole different ballgame,” Haresh Aswani, Tolaram’s managing director for Africa, told Financial Times on Tuesday.

The Lekki Deep Seaport, Financial Times said, will help in solving one of Nigeria’s export problems and will be financed with $630 million from the China Development Bank, and $470 million in equity from the state-owned China Harbour Engineering Company, which has a 52.5 percent stake and will be responsible for building the port.

This leaves Tolaram group that ought to be the majority shareholder, to own 22.5 percent, the Nigerian Ports Authority 5 percent and Lagos State Government 20 percent of the port project.

Authenticating this, Sekonte Davies, executive director, Marine and Operations of the NPA, disclosed at a stakeholders meeting in Apapa recently, that promoters of the Lekki Port project, which is supposed to have concluded the financial closure of the port project on 21st of September 2019, shifted the date to 21st of October, 2019.

However, the source familiar with the port project confirmed to BusinessDay that the loan will be signed off on Wednesday, October 23, 2019.

He said that upon completion, the port would help shippers to achieve economy of scale in shipping, which requires a larger vessel to lower the cost of freight per Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) that comes to Nigeria.

“Shipping companies are building bigger vessels and the draft needs to be bigger as well to accommodate them,” he added.

It was proposed that the multi-purpose port would cover an area of 90 hectares with three container berths, long dry bulk berths, and three liquid berths. Initially, the port would handle close to 1.5 million Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) of containers annually, and this would be upgraded to 2.5 million TEUs in the future.

The channel would be dredged to 14 meters depth, which would be deepened to 19 meters as traffic grows while the breakwater, which protects the vessels from the waves, is 1.5 kilometres long.
More good news Nigeria and Egypt just signed railway deals worth 20 billion dollars in Russia for Nigeria they are going to do the Lagos-calabar rail line which will link in with the lekki deep seaport and the central line from warri

They are also doing the Port Harcourt - Maiduguri project which will help the agricultural exports of Nigeria so now we will have Lagos-kano, warri-kano and port Harcourt-maiduguri

first of all , eco currency will not work, Nigeria goverment will frustrate the plan, Nigerians leader are very conservative ( Short sighted )And this is the not the first stands of Nigeria , it has been there since 60s when balewa thinks inkrumah is priding himself like messiah of Africa ....

Ghana presidency is suggesting the idea can be floated without Nigeria ( let's see if that will work) ...

You brought in fantastic idealogy.... merging of kantaka and innnoson can fastrack development rather than single handedly piloting it .... Ghana is currently enjoying the international recognition of a peaceful and well balanced democrcy that is even envy by other country, Nigeria has bigger GDP with over 200 million population... that will be impressive. Ghana can be a good transit hub for innnoson as Ghana products are crurrently acceptable than Nigeria product. for example , A Nigeria buisness man will like smuggled his yam to Ghana for exportation rather exporting it frorm nigeria because of perceived Ghana value.
It could work we can have hope and it is possible Nigeria is slowly starting to gain trust with their products the EU is considering lifting the ban on Nigerian beans and yam we don't necessarily need you for transit I am proposing merging building factories in both countries having the companies make up most sales in both countries than expand to the rest of Africa

Most of Nigeria FDI is on OIL AND GAS industry.
Not really many companies are investing in agriculture rather than oil and gas after Nigeria's recession and all of these P&ID or whatever cases no one is very keen on investing in oil

So you have Kelloggs, arla, steel companies, beer companies etc have started to come to Nigeria also Unilever has started setting up plants you can say agriculture in Nigeria is very bad but a Nigerian man took a N1 million and after 2 years his farm is worth N1 billion only 2 years

The reality is that Ghana needs Nigeria cus Ghana is seriously transforming its manufacturing sector rapidly ( 30 million people is not enough) therefore Ghana will need Nigeria to offload its market . and this will not only benefit Ghana only as Nigeria too will also be part of the success . the manufacturing sector alone contribute about 8 billion dollar to the economy last year

As i have study, Nigeria leader are known to be radical , only few of them believe in the spirit of Africa unionism which Ghanaian leaders are famous for......
That is why we need the Eco currency it will help trade between Ghana and Nigeria so much if Nigeria and Ghana shared a border the amount of trade and money and industries that would grow would be so surprising

I've been thinking why don't Kantanka and Innoson merge they would become one of the largest car companies in the world after a few years they are already the top two largest car companies in Africa

We would be producing everything for Africans public transport buy from us, garbage disposal easy, ambulance done, fire trucks anything car they will have it, would be so beneficial to both our economies.

It surreal that somebody can block a border to stop smugglers smiley smiley somethings Nigeria do - only Nigerians can do. I mean long border btw Benin and Nigeria or Nigeria-Cameroon is not fenced - so what stops the rice smugglers from just crossing over anywhere they want.

Only legitimate business are suffering. Ecowas or even Africa Free Trade cannot functions with some of these moronic nations.

Anyway inflation will force them to open the borders. Benin & Cameroon smugglers have been helping Nigeria survive the tough economic times...now if you buy rice manufactured in Nigeria....that will be expensive.
Nigerian rice has been going down in price ever since the border closed next week it is expected to become 10 000N from the current 16 000N, just 10 000N for 50kg for 25kg is 5 000N and your telling me that is expensive that is like 5-8 dollars

Plus the economies of Niger and Benin are suffering not Nigeria's nothing whatsoever is happening to Nigeria as a side effect if the border closure other than we have increased output of local agricultural produce

And buhari said about the AFCTA I signed a free trade agreement not a free smuggling agreement the air and sea borders are open what is happening is countries like Thailand go to be in Port because it is cheaper than they smuggle it through to the Nigerian markets they are avoiding the taxes and duties at our ports.

Plus no Ghanaian can even speak alomo bitters lost over 2 million dollars because of the border closure it is affecting your kinsmen more than it is affecting ours please we are the poverty capital of the world let us enjoy our poverty in please

Also Ghanaians calm down with all this inflation, currency bla bla next year we may have the exact same currency the Eco just wait for us to quickly get our inflation down then by may 2020 maybe we will have the same currency so no more arguments anymore.

You're at least 10 or 15yrs late. So this is how you progress in this fiber business.
1)You have undersea international cable. The one from Lagos to Portugal etc. That I think is pretty much done in west coast of Nigeria. But we hear stupid GLO want to invest lots of billions there?
2) You build a backbone fiber network. Even Tanzania has one. You're not yet started here. Backbone fiber is sort of fiber connecting all Nigeria main towns and cities. You have NOT DONE THIS. Kenya has about 5-6K kms of National Fiber Optic Networks covering all 47 counties. Kenya Power (our utility company) has also another 4,000kms of back-bone fiber network that they lease. KETRACO (Kenya transmission line) also boast of 2,000kms of Fiber around the high voltage power lines that they also lease as back-bone fiber network.
3) Then you build FTTB - Fiber to the Buildings. This is is what you're attempt to do in YABA. In place like Kenya - FTTB is done in nearly all major towns. In Nairobi every building has FTTB. In fact nowadays any contractor make provision for FTTB - if not even install them.
4) Then you get into FTTH - Fiber to the Home. This one you'll get there in what 20 or 30yrs!!!. That is connecting every home to fiber. FTTH is pretty much good in major kenya cities. Safaricom alone has 300,000 subscribers connected to FTTH.

I am typing this from FTTH.
So your telling me wherever I am in Kenya there is an option for Wi-Fi I just need to get the password for this wifi or is it open because I seriously doubt that I will be able to get wifi wherever I am in Kenya if that was the case people would have been shouting about all these years.

Not even in England can you get Wi-Fi wherever you are the government doesn't give wifi to people for free they have to buy individual routers if they want wifi but from what I have read if I come to Kenya I can access wifi wherever I am in kisumu, Nairobi, Mombasa even a random village there will be wifi is this true please confirm

comeback when you do it.Otherwise Nigeria is known for big wet dreams.Kenya has anything upto 30,000kms of fiber network...and FTTH (fiber to the homes) is now approaching 0.5m.South Africa leads with 2m FTTH.Nearly every part of Nairobi and Mombasa has FTTH.
How do you always find a way to make a project sound bad this project is being done by Samsung, Huawei and main one, the company main one set up a 2 100km long cable aling the coast of West Africa and I think it connected to Portugal as well so they are already professionals at it

I already showed you pictures if the laying if fibers in Lagos not just yaba, Lagos as a whole will get 3000km of fibers and I showed you the image already so do not say we are a country of pipe dreams that what everyone said about Eko Atlantic are there not cranes and skyscrapers building there as we speak.

It seems like Kenyans are the ones who cannot speak seeing that konza actually seems like a pipe dream according to the comment section of the konza progress video this year, this is from Kenyans not me you can search it and read the comment section yourself.

First off most Nigerians living in South Africa are not criminals a lot of newspapers have ssaid that the xenophobic attacks are just a way for the people to pass a blame on to other people for their woes but they will see how much it will affect them if they kick out all black foreigners in their country.

Heads up MTN would have never left south African soil if a Nigerian man hadn't grown stakeholders up in foreign countries around Africa and they would have never gotten into the Nigerian market (where they make the most money).

Finally how can you celebrate the killing of another human in the ten commandments one of them is so not kill how can God bless someone for killing another person and you have no evidence that all the people that have been killed, injured, burnt alive, robbed etc that they have commuted the crimes

Whilst you concentrate on these places the actual south African criminals are having a free day looting shops under the lie oh it is owned by a Nigerian who sells drugs and raped someone I know just wait and see what happens to that country.

You need to tackle the other problems the real problems and not try and pass the blame onto other people, even if the blame is on them you get the police to arrest them not that you kill them or burn them

Australia parliament got into big argument when research showed Kenya had better internet than them.As for Nigerians still using opera mini to stream internet...you're 10yrs late.I don't see anyone digging around installing fiber anymore.

Yes those tech companies once up and running will be greater benefits..gov is not out to make profit..the plots will be developed by investors and investment will employ Kenyans and pay taxes eventually. We are looking to attract both established companies but more importantly build start ups ecosystem. If you want to know...we already provide ICT training in all public schools..we spent 170m dollars to provide 1m tablets and laptops to all public schools class 1.we had to electricity school... already in Africa we are competing with South Africa and Nigeria for the tech pie...but we will together with Rwanda eventually emerge the winners. Our education system which was already one Africa best is undergoing massive reform..we are changing yet again from Canada like system to a CBC..competency based model that de-emphasize exams but build inquisitive practical skills based workers of the future.Nobody need automons in the future.Learn more about Kenya digischool project..I think only Rwanda is that ambitious..and also our CBC which is now on grade 3
You are not going to surpass Nigeria in the tech scene first off because Nigeria is already building Abuja technology village, kaduna technology hub and yabacon valley project all of these places will have fibers, electricity etc and will most likely have space for about 100 startups each

Yabacon valley is going to start laying fires and the biggest tech hub company in Africa is going to set up a 12 storey and 5 storey headquarters in yaba, the Lagos state government is also going to lay over 3000km of fiber optic cables to make Lagos a smart city.

Abuja technology village has also started laying fibers and are planning on getting their first building in Q3 2020 the building is called flag house and it is quite beautiful to be honest

kaduna tech hub only has 1 building and that is the training building they are expecting many startups by 2022 after the have taught the 5000 applicants.

This is gov project - not private sector like Tatu or Northland or Eko - so gov is looking to attract technology companies - and grow the ICT pie - it's the future. KAIST is big - and will collaborate with University of Nairobi to offer master and phd studies. Konza aim is to become the Silicon Savannah of Africa.

For example look at Cairo Smart City.

The difference is that it is a tax free zone but you had to buy the plot the government provided electricity, water and the Wi-Fi but people ultimately had to buy the land to enjoy all the benefits

But for yours you say you are spending 14 billion dollars on roads, water, electricity, fibers etc and than giving land away for free and then after that making it tax free sure companies will come but you make no profit other than you have a nice looking city.

If you are giving tech companies free land and spending 14 billion dollars on the project how are you making money also adding that there are no taxes there is basically no profit from the project which I do not get it is good though slow but how will you get profit from it that is an important and underlying question no African country right now can afford to spend 14 billion dollars and make no money from it.

You're barely out of recession - just growing at 1-2% depending on the oil mood. Anyway back to Konza. Konza is a technology city - it will be a huge campus for techies - it will host tech companies, research institutions, innovation hubs and supporting services (hotels, hospitals, schools, and residence). I think Egypt in Africa have such a tech city.

One of key signature we have secure for Konza is from famed Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. I think we need 200M dollars to see if off ground but everything is nearly ready. Then couple of local and international universities will be given land to establish research and innovation hubs. Then technology companies - will also be given free land that has power, fiber and name it. A few hospitals, hotels and residential companies will also get plots.

Konza masterplan is already ready - designed by some of best architect in world. Phase 1 of the project is under constructions. Then we will have phase 2 & 3.

Here is KASIT - Kenya Advance Institute of Science and Technology - to be build & run by Korean KASIT.
I will ask again how are you making profit from the development if there is no profit than there is no point in it is there phase 1 was supposed to be completed in 2014 but has it no and when you search it there is no news that Cambridge or MIT or Stanford etc are planning on investing in the project until I see physical evidence of these fires being laid down, street lights and companies planning on investing than I cannot see the point, feasibility or the progress of konza city
