"I keep asking myself why the Northerners are celebrating like this especially since Buhari contested against a fellow northerner"

Simply because they see atiku as a liberal man who won't key into their Islamic agenda and he doesn't have this born to rule mentality
Why don't you ask yourself assuming it was buhari Vs el rufai
My guy it would have been fifty fifty vote because they both have the same agenda
When buhari is done he will handover to el rufai or ribadu

Then tinubu wings will be cliped finally
This is a fat lie from the pit of hell! It clearly shows you have never been to the north! It's the love northerners have for Pmb purely on the basis of his integrity! This is the only fact beside which there is only one thing :falsehood! Believe it if you like. Disbelieve if u want!

PoliticsWhat 2019 Presidential Poll Is All About by Aboki99(op): 9:43am On Feb 21, 2019
WHAT 2019 PRESIDENTIAL POLL IS ALL ABOUT

2019 presidential election is NOT at all about APC, PDP or any political party for that matter. Saturday 23rd February 2019 is ALL about WHETHER or NOT Nigeria attains its economic and political independence from both domestic primitive-capitalist accumulators and their foreign collaborators in the well-oiled, organized international financial crimes corporation (OIFCC). If you DON’T KNOW THIS, then it means you have not read any of the following books/papers by these great economics’/business scholars (and in that case I sincerely pray that God Almighty and posterity forgive you if, unknowingly, you are among those who will go out on Saturday, and vote in a way that will surrender the fate and future of Nigeria unto OIFCC mafiosos come February 23rd):

1. Ha-Joon Chang’s: (i) 23 Things They Don’t Tell You About Capitalism (2010) (ii) Bad Samaritans (2007) (iii) Kicking Away the Ladder: Development Strategy in Historical Perspective (2003) (iv)Political Economy of Industrial Policy (1996)
2. Tom Burgis’s “The Looting Machine: Warlords, Oligarchs, Corporations, Smugglers, and the Theft of Africa's Wealth” (2016)
3. Frederik Obermaier’s (2017): “The Panama Papers: Breaking the Story of How the Rich and Powerful Hide Their Money”
4. Mushtaq H. Khan’s: (i) “The Capitalist Transformation” (2005) (ii) ‘State Failure in Developing Countries and Institutional Reform Strategies’
5. Austin Aneke’s ‘Technology and Corruption: The Missing and Morbid Links of Development in Africa’ (2012).
6. Alice H. Amsden’s: “Why Isn’t the Whole World Experimenting with the East Asian Model to Develop?: Review of The East Asian Miracle” (1994)

Be that as it may however, whoever your preference is on Saturday 23rd February, 2019, make sure you have written that in your life diary, so that your children (and grandchildren) will know where their father (and grandfather) had stood on in what would, doubtless, have overwhelming positive or negative impact on their lives. A stich in time, they say, saves nine. Make hay while the sun shines. Look before you leap. Forewarned is forearmed. Do not cut your nose to spite your face on February 23rd!

Christianity EtcFrm. Dutch MP Who Branded Islam 'a Disease' Converted To Islam by Aboki99(op): 6:31pm On Feb 09, 2019
Dutch MP who branded Islam 'a disease' and was right-hand man for far-right politician Geert Wilders announces he has become a Muslim

Joram van Klaveren was an MP for far-right Party for Freedom from 2010 to 2017
He was the 'right-hand man' of its Islamophobe leader Geert Wilders
Called Islam 'the biggest disease to have hit our country in hundred years'
Converted to Islam after writing a book aiming to criticise the religion
Van Klaveren said he found 'he had more in common with Islam than he thought'
A Dutch former MP and right-hand man of far-right politician Geert Wilders has shocked his supporters by announcing he has converted to Islam.

Joram van Klaveren, who once called Islam 'the biggest disease to have hit our country in the last hundred years' was an MP for Wilders' far-right Party for Freedom (PVV) from 2010 to 2017.

During that time, Van Klaveren fought a relentless campaign against Islam in the Dutch Parliament, calling for bans of both the Muslim face-veil and minarets, which are slim towers often seen on mosques.

But the 40-year-old said he had changed his mind halfway through writing a-book criticising Islam, when he found out he had more in common with the religion than he initially thought.
Van Klaveren said: 'I looked at the Bible on my bookshelf, on the table were books about the Prophet Muhammad.
'The prior years I had a big aversion to Islam. When you then have to conclude that you were wrong, it is not a fun moment.

'But while searching for God I always felt a certain unease. And that slowly disappeared. It felt a bit like coming home in a religious way.'

Van Klaveren, who grew up in a reformed protestant family, said he is 'very sorry that he contributed to giving people a false image about Islam'.
He said that the manuscript of the Islam-critical book he initially planned to write has since been thrown into a rubbish bin and will be replaced by a book in which he will counter the arguments of critics of Islam.

Van Klaveren said that the analysis which he made as a far-right MP that most problems in the country and the world can be blamed on Islam were false.

He said: 'That was just the policy of the Party for Freedom: everything which was not right had to be linked one way or another to Islam.'

The Dutchman said that his wife had accepted his conversion and that he does not plan to force her or their two children to make the same decision as they are free to determine their own life.

He said: 'I never wanted to impose Christianity and I won't do it with Islam either.'

Van Klaveren said he 'did not suddenly become a lefty' and still holds dear many of his old views as his conversion is purely a personal religious matter.
e said: 'I suddenly get questions like: do you hate gays? Will you go to Syria as well? Can you pet a dog?

'I contributed to maintaining and feeding a bad image of Islam, but you cannot realise how these prejudices work until you have to deal with them yourself.'

Van Klaveren's former political leader Geert Wilders was critical about the conversion and tweeted an image of the Saudi Arabian flag writing 'for all converts, read carefully'.

Wilders replaced the calligraphic script of the shahada, the Islamic declaration of faith which reads 'there is no god but God, Muhammad is the Messenger of God' which normally features on the Saudi flag.

Instead, he wrote, in Arabic,: 'Islam is a lie, the prophet [Muhammad] is a criminal, the Koran is poison.'

Van Klaveren split with Wilders in 2014 after the PVV leader's controversial comments that year when asking supporters whether they wanted 'fewer or more Moroccans in your city and the Netherlands'.

Wilders in 2016 was found guilty on discrimination charges. The sentence is currently being appealed.
Van Klaveren then went on to form his own far-right party called 'For Netherlands' (VNL) but left politics after failing to win a single seat in the 2017 elections.

'If this really isn't a PR stunt to promote his book, then it really is an extraordinary choice for somebody who had a lot to say about Islam,' his former VNL co-founder Jan Roos told the AD.

'But we have religious freedom in the Netherlands. He can worship whomever he wants,' Roos added.

Said Bouharrou, who serves on the Board of Moroccan Mosques in the Netherlands, praised Van Klaveren.

'It is great when somebody who has been so critical of Islam... realises that it is not so bad or perverse,' he told the Algemeen Dagblad (AD).

'It is brave that he's prepared to do it in public,' Bouharrou said.

Around five percent of the Dutch population of 17 million people or some 850,000 are Muslim, according to the Dutch Central Statistics Bureau (CBS).

The Netherlands also last year introduced a partial burqa ban from some public places such as schools and hospitals, ending years of discussions on the hot-button issue.

Van Klaveren is not the first high-profile PVV member to convert to Islam, and follows in the footsteps of Arnoud van Doorn, a former Hague-based PVV city councillor who switched in 2013.

Van Klaveren could not be immediately reached for comment on Tuesday.

PoliticsBuhari's 'arewacentricity' Vs Obasanjo's 'nigeria-centricity'-a Response by Aboki99(op): 8:24pm On Feb 02, 2019
BUHARI'S 'AREWACENTRICITY' VS OBASANJO'S 'NIGERIA-CENTRICITY'

My attention was drawn to a piece by Farooq Kperogi, an American-based Nigerian. As usual, the man shamelessly set out to whip up cheap sentiments against the current president for his 'Arewacentricity'. But interestingly, this same man who never misses the opportunity to brag that he worked in the inner sanctum of the Obasanjo govt as his 'speech writer', never for once told his readers one single story pertaining to their 'Nigeria-centric' OBJ administration: That is the story of the nature of distribution of appointive positions among regional and religious groups under the Obasajo's govt he is so proud to have served as a presidential speech writer! This I intend to do to prove that, compared to the OBJ govt Farooq served under, nay GEJ's, PMB's govt is the most fair and just in terms of appointments reflecting our diversities!

OBJ VS PMB ON APPOINTMENTS
In his 2nd term, OBJ appointed 42 ministers: 26 (63%) were Christians and 16 (37%) were Muslims. There was NO cry of Christianization agenda by Muslims or sympathetic echoes of that by Christians. Heaven did not fall that time! OBJ did not become a Christian fanatic nor a Kudu-centric chauvinist: this is even when no Muslim leader from Balewa up to the 'Arewa-centric' Buhari ever did that to Christians(I stand to be corrected) ! But this is not the shocker! Of ALL OBJ's ministers from the South-West, NONE was a MUSLIM!!! And even when pressure was put on OBJ by NOCOMYO et al. regarding this egregious marginalization of SW Muslims , OBJ only caved in reluctantly by appointing one Alhaji Bashir Awotorebo, as the only SW MINISTER representing the entire SW Muslims in OBJ's cabinet. And you know what, Awotorebo was appointed as a, 'symbolic', portfolio minister of state! Now imagine what would have been the story if PMB appointed ALL Muslims as ministers to represent the North Central region. In fact, even OBJ's two ministers from predominantly Muslim Kwara were both Christians (Mrs Adebayor and Adedoyin) and the story was the same with Kogi State minister under OBJ. Yet OBJ was not a Christian- or Kudu-centric but Nigeria-centric former president while poor PMB who is clearly more fair than OBJ in ministerial appointments is an 'Arewa-centric' president.

ACTUALLY, under PMB, there are 36 ministers. 18 Christians and 18 Muslims. That is his ministers are 50% Christians 50% Muslims. And to the Christians, you've got to add SGF and HoS. To the Muslims, Chief of Staff and Accountant General. Yet, OBJ and his domestic and foreign lapdogs have the effrontery to look at Nigerians in the face and tell them that Buhari is "Arewacentric, insensitive, in-your-face, knee-jerk, Northern sub-nationalis[t]"! While OBJ is a Nigeria-centric, sensitive, in-your-back, ankle-jerk, Nigerian Nationalist!

MOREOVER, a comprehensive look at the distribution of appointed positions in to agencies, boards and parastatals of FG during OBJ, GEJ and PMB tenures reveal PMB to be the most fair of all three WALLAHI (in terms of distribution along regional, religious and ethnic lines)! I have a comprehensive data thereon but presently haven't the time or the space here to do the analysis. But it is something I intend to even write a book on, hopefully after my PhD. The only thing that makes the difference against PMB is the power of media misinformation, misrepresentation and mischief-making. For e.g when I looked at the distribution of service chiefs in successive administrations since the advent of democracy in 1999, I was gobsmacked by the pattern! Yet all we're being told today is that history is no longer an account of the past but the present, as if our history began just in 2015 with the advent of an 'Arewacentric' Muhammadu. And because the vast majority of our compatriots are given to forgetfulness, historical realities have now been substituted with ahistorical mendacity and you're called names if you dare to point out the inconsistencies!

Had the PDP and Atiku all along been banking on the CJ to secure through the back door the victory they otherwise can't get through the ballot box? This looks like the case! Plus, the way Atiku is dropping the names of US, UK and EU around, does he think these countries can make him our president or we Nigerians? Fubuhari 16 will answer this question for him?
