abdulwastecx: revit architecture should be the easiest among all architectural software and now we end up confusing the guy. anyway, what's best for him depends more on what he is trying to achieve, he sounds more like an engineering student than an architecture student. the revit vs archicad war is one that would never end so let's let it slide.@pic, the backside, currently too distracted to finish up the modeling

Miscellaneous: please which software did u use for that design? And please can anyone help me with the name of software used in structural design? I have been seeing guys in older threads talk about Revit and Orion.... are both for str. design & which is better to learn? i used archicad for the design, it's strictly for architectural design and when i use it for structural design, it's usually for buildings going for approval and the extra work isn't much felt. (structural design have to be done manually for it). the latest version of revit has structural design abilities built into it but what would be most appropriate for you to learn would depend on what type of work you intend to do and what your colleagues are doing. structural design for a bridge and a four bedroom duplex are entirely different things. archicad is the easiest to learn of all those applications. |

EgunMogaji: Dis one wey you wan pessin dash me 2X4 for head
It was a general consensus on that build by the builders contemporaries that it was a bad idea. But strictly for that build.
The truth of the matter is that you can have a strong 6 incher produced and a weak 9 incher.
So if you're going to pluck foundation blocks off of the shelf in Nigeria then imho you should go with 9 inchers.
I'm yet to see Spyder880, Aventures, Skimanski, KolaShangOne, etc use anything less than 9 inchers for foundation.
One of the profound should haves on my project was not using 9 inchers for my fence. IMHO Nigerian 6 inched are best reserved for partitions of upper walls. This is just my opinion and nothing scientific or building experience based. bros, abeg forget those people, he is hiding under religion just like yerima yet when a newspaper ran a news report on how he was banging a married woman on the double complete with their text messages and even called him and the lady in question to know their sides of the story before going to press, he could not come out to defend himself. soon after that, the lady's marriage crashed. he is atleast 32yrs older than that girl so you can imagine how that marriage would play out. i don't want to implicate myself online so let's leave that issue. |

Can one build pillars all the way from blinding to final height (ring beam) at once on a bungalow?
Thanks. i haven't seen it done before, i believe it can be done but i won't advice it because i don't see anything to be gained from it. |

Can he allow his daughter to make this same move? he has paraded himself as an enlightened muslim with a diference,Good then what stopped him from marrying older women ?Doesnt he feel his move is very selfish? The report of this marriage was out since january or before then in which it was debunked but here we are,so who is the liar?
Am even being asked a stupid question as to state the right reasons for marriage. Now lets see if sanusi will allow her finish her education and follow her dreams bros, I'm in the north and i know how this marriages play out but paid e~rats have already overtaken the thread so let us maintain our silence and leave them to themselves. |

1. From foundation to Deck level only, I want to do it slow and steady... thanks to u all for enlightening a lot of us through this thread is this supposed to be a block of flats or what exactly? do you realise that the only way you can access the staircase is from the lobby in the middle of the house? i also don't like the sacrificing of cross ventilation for an outside visitors toilet |
Properties › Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by abouzaid: 9:35am On Sep 27, 2015 |
abdulwastecx: that should be 12.3m ( 41ft) x 12.9 ( 43ft)
with a with of 1.8 m along 12.3m you will get aprx. 7nr
with length of 25m along 12.9m you will get 2nr
you will need about 7/2 = 31/2
At the cost of 15k/nr = N45,500.
other alternative is using Y8mm bar, spacing it 350mm c/c
along 12.3m ( 12.3/0.35 = 35nr @ N600/nr = N21,000)
along 12.9m ( 12.9/0.35 = 37br @ N600/nr = N22,200)
Binding wire ( N2,000)
TOTAL = N45,200
OPTION B IS STRONGER AND BETTER thanks a million, your analysis is always crystal clear. |

EgunMogaji: Excellent. I personally think that they are nice feature and put my money behind the opinion.
The plan that I bought and modified was designed for Mexico and the model home built in South Texas.
The only issue with internal courtyards is that they tend to use a lot of land. 16 feet of the 50 feet width of the house went to the courtyard.
Looking forward to seeing your designs. this is one of the designs I'm currently working, it's a low cost design for a fifty by fifty plot of land. three bedrooms, two downstairs and a modest sized masters suite upstairs with a six feet deep veranda overlooking the ten by fifteen courtyard on the back. minimum sized bedroom is a twelve by twelve and all rooms cross ventilated. semi open plan living room.
