IslamRe: Sayings and Stories Of The Salaf by AbuHammaad(op):

No we are not saying the same thing.

The word 'salaf' or 'salaf as salihin' is established whereas the word 'salafi' or 'salafism' is newly introduced.
Salafus saalih is the first three generations. The best of generations. Yes! We know that.

What I'm saying is the literal meaning of salaf in Arabic terms is "predecessor". "Those before us". They are better than us, they are more knowledgeable than us and they are older than us. The likes of Ibn uthaymeen, Ibn Baz , Al Albani are salaf to the present set of Shuyookh. Ibn Abdul Wahhab was a salaf to these 3. Are you getting me? I was trying to make my point in linguistic terms but it's like you just want to argue.

And no, the word "salafi" is not a recently introduced word. It's been used by scholars in different books. I guess you think everything started with ibn Abdul wahhab . Ibn Rajab used the word salafi to describe one of his teachers same as Imam Ad Dhahabi and many other scholars. If you want it, tag me on another thread

Anyway, I'm not interested in any argument on this particular thread. I don't want to derail. We'll do that somewhere else. Thanks smiley

The word 'salaf' or 'salaf' as salihin', as we all know, is used to refer to the Muslims of the first three generations whom the prophet, sallAllahu alayhi WA salam, has indemnified from deviation.

The word 'salafi' or 'salafism', though in reference to 'salaf' is an entirely new word which came about not more than 200 years ago.

So you should change the topic heading accordingly but there is no way adding to salaf people who are not from the salaf as made clear by the Hadith of the prophet, sallAllahu alayhi WA salam.
Lol I get your point and I just think it's pointless explaining to you what I actually meant because we are saying the same thing. Mine is literal, yours is more specific.

Speaking of Kunya, I adopted one after I listened to a lesson delivered in ustadh Abdul Ghaniy's halqah. Before then, I used to think one must have a child to have a Kunya. He cited examples of different companions of the prophet whom the prophet gave Kunya even before they had children. He also gave the example of ummul Mu'mineen Aisha (RA)

I'm still a very young man but that Abuhammaad has stuck. I look forward to birthing Hammaad after I get married smiley . May Allah make it a reality

Please stop derailing the thread by quoting from people who are not from the generations of the salaf-us-salihin.

Ibn Taymiyyah and Al Albaani are not from that era.
They are not from the first gen but they still are our salaf (literally) cos they are our predecessors

And they are salafis.

IslamRe: Islam For Muslims: Side Talk Station by AbuHammaad:
There is this dangerous trend in Nigeria of Muslim men especially Yoruba marrying Christian women under the guise of Esin o ko, Anobi fe keferi.

Ha!

What happened to all the chaste Muslim Sisters around. It shouldn't be the first option especially when we know kids tend to identify more with their mothers than their fathers and the mother most likely won't convert. An important condition for marrying a non-Muslim woman is that you should be in a position where you are not afraid that your child will be forced into Kufr. My people say Iya lo lomo. The chances of your kids choosing Christianity over Islam are very high (9/10). Let's also not forget that they give them gifts and other goodies in church. That's all kids want. I've seen so many cases of children born to Muslim fathers practising Christianity. You have a situation whereby your kids follow you to Jumah and then still attend church on Sunday. Audhubillah!

I urge folks to read more about the Islamic POV as regards this.

na'am i have been skeptical about visiting islamqa.info since last week, some brothers accused shaykh saalih munaajid of quoting sayyid qutb in some of his fatwas, although haven't personally seen one.

perhaps this is why the aforementioned scholars tagged him an ikwaani(Qutbi)

Allaah knows best...

XXLDICK:
Virtually almost all states in Nigeria (if not all) offer free schooling and health care

No state benefited half of what Lagos benefited in the 30 years military rule and you know That.

Most development in Lagos from 1999 are private sector driven.
Private sector will only invest if the government creates the enabling environment and infrastructure. This is a state that was denied FA for years and still managed to pay salaries

Give credit to whom it's due.

Some people wear dirty clothes, punish themselves thinking it's Zuhd cheesy Like that was how Hasan Al-Basri (Rahimahullah) who they all revere practised his own Zuhd

Ibnul Jawzi wrote a book where he mentioned that Hasan Al-basri left behind a white cloak made of wool which he had worn exclusively of any other for the past twenty years, winter and summer, and that when he died , it was in a state of immaculate beauty, cleanness, and quality. He

PoliticsRe: Nigeria Could Teach The West A Few Things - Bloomberg by AbuHammaad: 2:26pm On Jan 04, 2017
mandarin:
Let me demystify your erroneous belief. The North isn't 80% Muslim. The only region in Nigeria that can boast of over 75% indigenous Muslim population is the Northwest, comprising Kano, katsina, sokoto, zamfara, kano, Jigawa, kebbi and kaduna. Southern kaduna is Christian dominated and atheists. There are also indigenous Christians in Kebbi and other states. Admittedly, that is the Muslim dominated part of Nigeria, you can give it 90% to 10%.

The Northeast, although, has majority Muslims but high percentage of Christians especially in Southern parts of Bauchi, Gombe, Borno, Adamawa and Yobe especially indigenous population. For your information, a whole lots of places where Boko Haram has been very active were Christian areas give rise to suspicion that it may be an approach of decimating Christians in that part of Nigeria. Ascribing percentages here is a bit difficult but in the states of Borno, Gombe, Bauchi, Yobe, Adamawa, indigenous Christians cannot be less than 30% while atheist like 5-10%

The middle Belt states of kwara, kogi, Benue, Taraba, Niger, Plateau, Nararawa are a mix of both religions of which when you pull the population together it may be like 55% Christians to 40% Muslims and 5% atheists.

Of course the southwest of Nigeria is known to all and among the indigenous Yoruba people where you have probably the highest Muslims converts into Christianity in the world, is the melting pot of three religion and the headquarters of pentecostal/ Evangelical Christianity in Africa. Among the Yoruba you can safely assume around 60% Christians, 35%Muslims and 5% exclusively atheists.

The South South and southeast are Christian and atheists dominated with less than 1% Muslims.

When you put these estimates together you can't say Nigeria is muslin dominated.I have transverse this country and can safely say all those population data brandied by NBS and NPC are not empirical, they are just applying growth rate on disputed figures!
Taken that Muslims in the northwest especially give birth to many children, that is not to mean that the population of the north can now be double of the south, its against all natural law of habitat. The man who commented on Lagos committed that error probably pulling his data out of some make belief data in circulation. You can safely say that Nigeria is about 54% Christians today.
Yoruba 60℅ Christian, 35℅ Muslim. You're very very funny cheesy grin
