A lot of companions actually slept in the masjid because some of them didn't have houses.
Some of the Muhaajirun after they moved to Madinah slept in the masjid before they found shelter. There are narrations on this. Once I come across any, I'll post it |

Anytime politicians want to counter their perceived opponents, they come up with silly stories of you not being from that state. Last presidential election, someone said Tinubu was from Iragbiji. Someone once said Mimiko is Nupe. Now, Aregbe is from kogi.
They do this because they know some of you are very foolish. Op is a perfect specimen of that type of foolishness. You sycophants don't use your heads. If anything happens, politicians that are behind all these will fly out of the country and the rest of us will all be in this mud together. What has this man not done to convince everyone he's fair ? But you people keep coming up with all sorts of useless narratives. |

uvalued: hmm the arab spring uprising comes to mind..such a wrong move to dethrone their leaders. So called dictators are usually arrogant and like all arrogant people, they hate being challenged. It starts as a mere protest, the dictator reacts with the big hammer--- the people rebel and boom! It becomes a full scale war Some of these people here hate being lectured with evidence from the Quran and Sunnah but even if you use common sense, you'd still come to the conclusion that it makes sense but hey common sense they say is not so common. |

I wonder if any top scholar has spoken about this trend of using Hijab, Jilbab or Abaya to do fashion. Folks! We now have "Muslimah" models They've made it so "cool" now then they tag it #proudmuslimah or #searchingforjannah with some Mufti Menk quotes Our sisters must shaaa try to fit in This trend is actually pretty much common everywhere in the world even in the most conservative Islamic countries. I believe it sprung up when women in the West started reverting to Islam and didn't want to drop the old lifestyle completely. Apparently, you have to look trendy and fashionable so you don't appear like you are backward and behind the times Besides, it's quite hard not to be influenced by whatever is being exhibited the western media. It's all up in your face and there are hardly alternatives. They control virtually everything. It is Allah whose help is to be sought |

Amoto94: The Ruling about having shares in companies and banks – The Permanent Committee Question:
What is the ruling about having shares in companies and banks’? And is it permissible for a shareholder (in a company or a bank) to sell shares, specifically after he has become a shareholder himself, to offices dealing in buying and selling (stockbrokers)? And from that which is possible is selling them (the shares) for more than the price that the shareholder paid. So what is the ruling about the profit which the shareholder makes every year from the value of the shares bought?
Response:
Having shares in banks and companies that trade in ribaa is not permissible. And if the shareholder wants to rid himself of any ribaa in his shareholding, then he should sell his shares at market value and take the initial investment only. The rest he should give in charity, and it is not permissible for him to take anything from the profits of his shareholding or interest. However, if the shareholding was in a company which does not trade in ribaa, then it’s profits are halaal.
And with Allaah lies all success and may Allaah send prayers and salutations upon our Prophet (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) and his family and his companions.
The Permanent Committee for Islaamic Research and Fataawa, comprising – Head: Shaykh ‘Abdul ‘Azeez ibn Abdullaah ibn Baaz; Member: ‘Abdullaah ibn Ghudayyaan; Member: Shaykh ‘Abdullaah Ibn Qu’ood Fataawa al-Lajnah ad-Daa.imah lil-Buhooth al-‘Ilmiyyah wal-Iftaa. – Volume 13, Page 508, Fatwa No.8996 This is key!! For those who do not know, there are non-riba banks in Nigeria. There is Jaiz bank and I believe stanbic IBTC also have something that caters for Muslims who do not want to deal in Riba. Although that's tricky since they also have the regular interest banking. I don't know the ruling for those ones. All in all, this is an opportunity for Muslim entrepreneurs .We need more non Riba banks. We need to start creating alternatives for Muslim folks. Not only in banking, but for other things we have to put up with that aren't in accordance with the tenets of Islam |

It's good seeing this section become lively, educative and informative as opposed to when we had deplorables like Truthman, Annunaki, Parisaddict and co running things here. I really don't know what exactly y'all did to sanitize this section

shawl: Ok.
To me, thread will only make real sense if it is dedicated to relay the narrations from muslims whom the prophet, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam, has declared their assertions to be protected from from deviations, pure and genuine. The salaf as salihin.
But if this is how you want it fine and good. But bear in mind that quotations you get from outside of those generations could be poison coated with honey as warned by the prophet, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam.
That is still well into the era of doubt, as per second half of islamic age to date.
I know it didn't start from him.
It started around the age of the scholars you mentioned above (a la madhhabi ideology), fanned by him (Abdul Wahhab) a couple of centuries later (a wahhabi movement). Developed later (in the last 200 years), almost in a continuous chain, by the likes of Muhammad Abduh, Muhammad Rashid Reza, Al Albani, Bin Baz etc into the 'salafism' of today.
Now there are lots of unending controversies about many of the people in context already which would eventually lead to derailment of the thread. That is my concern about the thread, not to start an arguement. I get your point and I agree for the most part. That's the aim of the thread. If you go through all my posts on this thread, you'd realize almost all the stories and sayings are from the first three generations I think other posters have done the same thing bar 2 or 3 posts. Thanks for bringing that to my attention |
