Murdered Ghanaian military officer, Major Maxwell Adam Mahama, has posthumously graduated from the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom. The late Major Mahama enrolled in 2015 as a distance-learning student in the Department of Criminology to read for a Master of Science (MSc) in Security and Risk Management degree. He was due to graduate this summer when some residents of Denkyira Obuasi gruesomely murdered him on May 29, 2017 in the Central Region where he was on a national assignment. His mother, Veronica Bamford, looking somber, received the posthumous award at the university’s graduation, attracting a resounding applause and standing ovation from the auditorium https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJDLF8i7tls

Asamoah Gyan's funded astroturf on the Accra Academy School campus was commissioned on 18th July, 2017 . The 31-year-old striker cut sod in late 2015 to begin the ultra modern astro turf during a ceremony which was graced by old students of Accra Academy and the public in general. The multipurpose facility was estimated to cost GH¢ 700,000.00. The artificial pitch arrived from Turkey on January 30, 2016 for the historic project of the school, where a bronze statue of the Captain would be mounted for his kind gesture. The project include a turf, with a tartan track surrounding it and dressing rooms, a fence wall, toilet facilities and Flood lights will all be put in place. The pitch was constructed by a Ghanaian private owned firm Wembley Sports Construction Company Limited with its FIFA approved turf partner ‘HATKO’ of Turkey The facility which is worth over $250,000 as cost will, however, be managed by Wembley Sports Complex in partnership with the management of the school as well as Gyan’s Foundation.

The woman even wanted half of his wealth.Thank God the court disallowed. Nii Odartey Lamptey wins court case against ex-wife Former Ghana international Nii Odartey, has won his lawsuit in which his wife was seeking to gain 50% of all his wealth. An Accra High Court ruled on Wednesday ruled that, Gloria Lamptey, his former wife, committed ‘adultery’ when she conceived three children out of wedlock and subsequently quashed her motion to be awarded half of the property of the former footballer. Justice Cecilia Don-Chebe Agbevey, who presided over the matter, also ordered the estranged wife to vacate the footballer’s plush 7-bedroom apartment in East Legon within 30 days. She was however allocated a small property at Dome, a suburb of Accra, as compensation, leaving the player with the clearance to keep the majority of his hard-earned wealth. In an interview after the ruling, Odartey Lamptey indicated that he was relieved that the verdict has gone in his favour although he has lost some properties. He said, “I thank God for taking me through this fight successfully because I didn’t know how far I could go. I’m grateful that the toils that I have gone through for the past 21 years did not go in vain. Though I’ve lost a few properties, I’m very content that at the end of this case, I have retained most of them and I’m still alive too.” “When I was informed that the [three] children were not mine, I know how I felt. Playing the role of a father to children I thought were mine for 21 years and realizing otherwise later, I nearly committed suicide. God gave me renewed energy and courage to withstand these pains and today, I can say I have gotten over them all.” “And today, with the final judgement, I thank God that my properties, my school and others I have kept them. She can take the little awarded her. Today the divorce has been granted and that burden that was on me is gone. Now, I’m a free and happy man, ready to start life again.” Background The relationship between Odartey Lamptey and Gloria Lamptey hit the rocks in 2013 after DNA results revealed that he was not the biological father of his three children after 20 years of marriage. Lamptey insisted that he never asked his estranged wife to sleep with other men to get pregnant for him after allegations that he was impotent. He now has two children with his partner, actress Ruweida Yakubu. Lamptey owns the Golden Lions Soccer Academy and Glow Lamp International School. – 2 Likes 1 Share |

A Ghanaian woman, Janet who stays at Croydon in London, has been trending on social media since last night after a video of her on the floor crying and “faking assault” to get the police to her house and get another Ghanaian man arrested surfaced online. While many on social media have been misinformed that the man being sort of set-up is the woman’s husband, GhanaCelebrities.Com has just spoken to Janet who has confirmed our earlier report that the man is not her husband, rather a tenant. In an over 25 minutes interview, Janet narrated to GhanaCelebritis.Com what happened–answering questions like: were you exaggerating just to get Nana (the man) arrested? At the time Janet spoke to GhanaCelebrities.Com, she said she was at the Croydon Police Station to ensure that Nana, who she believes posted the video on social media is dealt with–and she added that Social Service has already gotten involved because of her children. 1 Like |

The Inspector General of Police for the Nigeria Police Force, Ibrahim Kpotun Idris, has revealed that a top Nigerian kidnapper who was arrested by the Nigerian Police two weeks ago had a Ghanaian passport as well as properties and a family in Ghana. The Nigerian IGP further stated that Chikwudubem Onwuamadike, known simply as Evans in Nigeria, has confessed to being a former drug trafficker. The Nigerian police chief said the suspect always charged his ransom in dollars. Mr Idris made the revelation at the ongoing West Africa National Security Conference at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra on Tuesday, 20 June, 2017. “Last week, we arrested a kidnapper... He has houses in Ghana and his family is based here in Ghana and that’s the only kidnapper that kidnaps and demands ransom in dollars. He has collected about $6million so far in ransom and he can keep his victim for as long as six months even if it means paying this ransom in instalments. It’s sad that he keeps somebody for six months and doesn’t release the victim until that money is paid in full,” Mr Idris said. “I was told his family is in Ghana and he has two houses in Ghana and I even have the addresses. Finally, the importance of actionable intelligence sharing cannot be overemphasised as today, through some exchange of information; Nigerians are celebrating the arrest of the Nigerian-Ghanaian. I say Nigerian-Ghanaian because he’s a Nigerian but he also has a Ghanaian passport and that is something you people have to look at,” the Nigerian police chief cautioned. |

fanficgirl: Mozambique actually looks promising. They have discovered huge volumes of gas reserves which will have a great impact on the economy Mozambique sees $30 bln investment for 2018 LNG exports startup By Manuel Mucari PEMBA, Mozambique, Aug 21 More than $30 billion will be invested initially in Mozambique's natural gas sector to build capacity to produce 20 million tonnes per year of liquefied natural gas (LNG), with the first exports due to start in 2018, the national oil company said. The investments will be made to develop the northern ports of Pemba and Palma, where a giant logistics base and LNG production plants are planned that will use gas produced from offshore fields in the Rovuma Basin being developed by U.S. oil major Anadarko Petroleum Corp and Italy's Eni. Mozambique, which still bears the scars of a 1975-1992 civil war, is hoping revenues from its large gas deposits and its fledgling coal mining industry will help it emerge from years of poverty and dependence on foreign donors. The country holds presidential elections on Oct. 15. "In an initial phase, liquefaction units with a total capacity for 20 million tonnes a year of LNG will be built and operated. The investment to be made tops $30 billion," Nelson Ocuane, president of the state oil company ENH, told Reuters. The initial exports from 2018 will come from a first LNG train of 5 million tonnes a year, with overall capacity for the industry to be ramped up subsequently to 20 million tonnes per year. Ocuane, speaking on the sidelines of the launch of the project for the Pemba port logistics base on Wednesday, did not give a detailed breakdown of who would make the investments, between foreign partners, the government and state entities. Anadarko and Eni's commitments already run into several billions of dollars, but Ocuane's estimate was the first to put an overall cost tag on the first phase of Mozambique's LNG ambitions. Mozambique's parliament last week approved amended legislation for the gas and oil sector, including a "special regime" for LNG development in Rovuma Basin Areas 1 and 4 where Anadarko and Eni are operating. This covered the construction and operation of LNG facilities and related activities. Government officials have said this regime, aimed at attracting investment, includes the possibility of certain "exemptions" in contracts, but these have not been specified. "Mozambique has good conditions to start exporting in 2018 because all the investment plans indicate that the essential infrastructure will be in place by then," Ocuane said. Officials say fresh bidding rounds for Mozambican gas and oil concessions would be held in the coming months. The International Monetary Fund, which sees Mozambique's economy growing 8 percent annually in the medium term - one of the highest rates in Africa - has said the country can expect "substantial revenues" from LNG by 2022. But it says Mozambique faces risks from climate disasters, commodity price shocks and variations in global demand for its coal and gas, as well as "financing risks for megaprojects". Some industry analysts say Mozambique may struggle to meet its target date of 2018 for the start of LNG exports. They say it must develop its LNG potential by the end of this decade as other supplies come on the market from West and East Africa and the global supply/demand scenario shifts, with the United States moving from energy importer to exporter. Of the world's LNG, about 70 percent is consumed by China, South Korea, India, Japan and Taiwan, and Ocuane said it was these Asian customers Mozambique would aim to supply. Around 180 trillion cubic feet of gas has been found in Mozambique's offshore Rovuma Basin. This would be enough to supply Germany, Britain, France and Italy for 18 years. 1 Like |

Joebie: You are not being fair to him. Take your time and read what he wrote again Asamoah Gyan scored his 50th goal for Ghana yesterday. Meanwhile, our own top scorer of all time who is late(RIP) had only 37 goals.. Seriously after Yekini,Yakubu was the best striker the super eagles ever had.. He could have broken Yekini record if only Nigerians had forgiven him after that miss at South Africa 2010. Even Kanu himself with all the hype and glory(no disrespect) only managed 13 goals in 86 appearances for the eagles.Ahmed Musa self has 13 goals in over 60 appearance. That's pitiful. maybe Iheanacho can br our own Asamoah Gyan, but he won't do it while playing as a lone striker! |

forgiveness: But what did you do to your Northern brothers to walk away ![]() It is unfortunate you have bought into the propaganda that Nkrumah wanted to be president of Africa hence the need to form the OAU.He was a visionary leader . I will show parts of his speech at the OAU conference in Ethiopia in 1963 .It was a long speech so i will only highlight the relevant points. As a continent we have emerged into independence in a different age, with imperialism grown stronger, more ruthless and experienced, and more dangerous in its international associations. Our economic advancement demands the end of colonialist and neo-colonialist domination in Africa. But just as we understood that the shaping of our national destinies required of each of us our political independence and bent all our strength to this attainment, so we must recognise that our economic independence resides in our African union and requires the same concentration upon the political achievement. The unity of our continent, no less than our separate independence, will be delayed if, indeed, we do not lose it, by hobnobbing with colonialism. African Unity is, above all, a political kingdom which can only be gained by political means. The social and economic development of Africa will come only within the political kingdom, not the other way around. The United States of America, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, were the political decisions of revolutionary peoples before they became mighty realities of social power and material wealth. How, except by our united efforts, will the richest and still enslaved parts of our continent be freed from colonial occupation and become available to us for the total development of our continent? Every step in the decolonisation of our continent has brought greater resistance in those areas where colonial garrisons are available to colonialism. This is the great design of the imperialist interests that buttress colonialism and neo-colonialism, and we would be deceiving ourselves in the most cruel way were we to regard their individual actions as separate and unrelated. When Portugal violates Senegal's border, when Verwoed allocated one-seventh of South Africa's budget to military and police, when France builds as part of her defence policy an interventionist force that can intervene, more especially in French-speaking Africa, when Welensky talks of Southern Rhodesia joining South Africa, it is all part of a carefully calculated pattern working towards a single end: the continued enslavement of our still dependent brothers and an onslaught upon the independence of our sovereign African States. Unite we must. Without necessarily sacrificing our sovereignties, big or small, we can, here and now, forge a political union based on Defence, Foreign Affairs and Diplomacy, and a common Citizenship, an African currency, an African Monetary Zone and an African Central Bank. We must unite in order to achieve the full liberation of our continent. We need a common Defence system with an African High Command to ensure the stability and security of Africa. We have been charged with this sacred task by our own people, and we cannot betray their trust by failing them. We will be mocking the hopes of our people if we show the slightest hesitation or delay by tackling realistically this question of African Unity. The supply of arms or other military aid to the colonial oppressors in Africa must be regarded not only as aid in the vanquishment of the freedom fighters battling for their African independence, but as an act of aggression against the whole of Africa. How can we meet this aggression except by the full weight of our united strength? Many of us have made non-alignment an article of faith on this continent. We have no wish, and no intention of being drawn into the Cold War. But with the present weakness and insecurity of our States in the context of world politics, the search for bases and spheres of influence brings the Cold War into Africa with its danger of nuclear warfare. Africa should be declared a nuclear-free zone and freed from cold war exigencies. But we cannot make this demand mandatory unless we support it from a position of strength to be found only in our unity. [/color] [b]This Committee should establish on behalf of the Heads of our Governments, a permanent body of officials and experts to work out a machinery for the Union Government of Africa. This body of officials and experts should be made up of two of the brains from each Independent African State. The various Charters of the existing groupings and other relevant document could also be submitted to the officials and experts. A praesidium consisting of the Head of the Governments of the Independent African States should be call upon to meet and adopt a Constitution and others recommendations that will launch the Union Government of Africa. We must also decide on allocation where this body of officials and experts will work as the new Headquarters or Capital of our Union Government. Some central place in Africa might be the fairest suggestion either at Bangui in the Central African Republic or Leopoldville in Congo. My colleagues may have other proposals. The Committee of Foreign Ministers, officials and experts should be empowered to establish: 1. A Commission to frame a Constitution for a Union Government of African States; 2. A Commission to work out a continent-wide plan for a unified or common economic and industrial programme for Africa; this plan should include proposals for setting up: • A Common Market for Africa • An African currency • African Monetary Zone • African Central Bank, and • Continental Communications System; 3. A Commission to draw up details for a Common Foreign Policy and Diplomacy; 4. A Commission to produce plans for a Common System of Defence; 5. A Commission to make proposals for Common African Citizenship. These Commissions will report to the Committee of Foreign Ministers who should in turn submit within six months of this Conference their recommendations to the Praesidium. The Praesidium meeting in Conference at the Union Headquarters will consider and approve the recommendations of the Committee of Foreign Ministers. In order to provide funds immediately for the work of the permanent officials and experts of the Headquarters of the Union, I suggest that a special Committed be set up now to work a budget for this. Your Excellences, with these steps, I submit, we shall be irrevocably committed to the road which will bring us to a Union Government of Africa. Only a united Africa with central political direction can successfully give effective material and moral support to our Freedom Fighters in Southern Rhodesia, Angola, Mozambique, South-West Africa, Bechuanaland, Swaziland, Basutoland, Portuguese Guinea, etc., and of course South Africa. obynocute: The Member of Parliament for Upper Denkyira West, Samuel Nsowa-Djan, has called on the Minister of Defence, Dominic Nitiwul, and Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Major General Obed Akwa to call some soldiers deployed to Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central Region to search for killers of Captain Maxwell A. Mahama, to order. Captain Mahama was lynched by irate youth of the community on suspicion that he was an armed robber after a group of residents from whom he asked for directions during a Monday dawn jogging session spotted a pistol on him. The community on Tuesday 30 May turned into a ghost town as residents fled from soldiers sent there to investigate the circumstances leading to the murder of their colleague. Reports said the soldiers were allegedly arresting and beating up residents. Reacting to the development on 12Live on Class91.3FM, Mr Nsowa-Djan appealed to the soldiers to operate within the remit of the law. He was of the opinion that the situation could escalate if the youth of the town strike back at the soldiers. Speaking to Jonas Ofori-Yeboah, the lawmaker, who disclosed he was on his way to his constituency to ascertain the facts for himself, said: “According to sources, over 30 people have been arrested including women but I can’t confirm it. But just now, I’ve been told that a lame man has been arrested and molested and when a situation of this nature happens, it is also going to lead to another problem. “What the community did is very bad and I condemn it, but the way the military is also taking the issue I think it’s a whole lot. The community I’m told is now virtually empty. They have fled to the neighbouring communities and their farms and other places. So I’m appealing to the military, the Minister of Defence, and Chief of Defence Staff to call his people to order because if the people are to retaliate, the end result will be very bad.” 3 Likes |
