I've been poring over the satellite images of some locations, cities and monuments all around the world for the past few days. Suddenly, I realized that I've not gazed on Nigeria my dear country. So, I guess that it will be fun if we embark on the journey together. I invite all forumites to join me as I tour round the federation with google earth satellite images.

P.S: I've never been to most of these locations that I will display their satellite images. So I expect the members of this forum to direct me as well as complement my effort as we have the fun together.

These google pics show just how much free land there is in Enugu for development; but google needs to upgrade the camera they use for parts of Nigeria (makes the landscape look so dry and harmattanish angry).....compare it with the one used for a western city like say London and you'll see a clear difference.
Yes u are right. The quality of the images are not so fantastic. What can we do about it? A beggar has no choice smiley

rexxx: Doctor in the house can a nursing mother of a 4 week old baby take deworming tablet
It depends on the actual drug in question. Moreover, who prescribed the drug?

luvola: @ acm - he had consult a public general hospital @ ajeromi ajegunle in lagos owned by lagos state govt.. Is it a good hospital ?.. Hw will someone knows a good surgeon..? The doctors in the aforedmention hospital told him that this is not the first time they are doing the surgery and that they do it almost all the time.. Pls is the aformentioned hospital good ? Pls enlight me more on this hernia because he is scared
He should visit Lasuth and ask for a urologist. Hernia is simply a protrusion from the weak part or opening of the body. Get more info on it on google.

No need to be scared. He should arrange to meet a urologist in any teaching hospital near him. The success rate is high for herniorrhaphy in the hand of a specialist. He only have to fear quacks.

FXKing2012: Without boring you with the input of great Igbos such as Azikiwe, Mbadiwe, etc in the struggle for independence, here is a list of Igbos laundering the image of Nigeria and helping Nigeria to be respected within the international community:

Okonjo Iweala (World Bank VP and best finance minister), Ezekwesili (World Bank president for Africa), Prof Chinue Achebe (best Nigerian author and author of the best selling African novel), Prof Maurice Iwu (developer of HIV treatment drug), Don Jazzy (best African music producer), Chidinma (best African female singer), P.Square (best African music group), Flavour (best Nigerian male singer), Prof Akunyili (best NAFDAC DG), Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (author of Purple Hibiscus and winner of multiple literary awards), Kanu Nwankwo (most decorated African footballer of all time), Soludo (best CBN governor), Okorocha (best state governor), FXKing2012 (best forex trader), etc etc.

Now, question is shouldn't Nigeria be more grateful to Igbos?

For God's sake, this is unnecessary; and is annoying. sad

@Knowledge9000,

Your handle should be rightly replaced with Ignorance9000. You are not more Igbo than me. But we need to remove our tribal lens when approaching this issue. Health discoveries subject itself to scientific protocols. We may never know who may be on the receiving end of this drug if it turns out to be a scam. Below is a news article on the announcement of HIV drug - Truvada by a media outlet.

Truvada approved by FDA as first HIV-prevention pill

CBS News
(CBS News) Truvada has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration as the first pill to prevent HIV.

Gilead Sciences' Truvada has been taken by people over 12 with human immunodeficiency virus in conjunction with other antiretroviral drugs since it was first approved by the FDA in 2004. The new approval applies in combination with safer sex practices for preventative use in healthy individuals who are at a high risk for HIV or who may have sex with HIV-positive partners.

Truvada for HIV prevention backed by advisory panel, FDA may decide by June
HIV advocates say Truvada could save lives
Once-daily Quad HIV pill an effective and safe alternative to multiple-pill regimens, study shows

"Today's approval marks an important milestone in our fight against HIV," FDA Commissioner Dr. Margaret A. Hamburg said in a press release. "Every year, about 50,000 U.S. adults and adolescents are diagnosed with HIV infection, despite the availability of prevention methods and strategies to educate, test, and care for people living with the disease. New treatments as well as prevention methods are needed to fight the HIV epidemic in this country."

In the announcement, the FDA strongly recommended against Truvada's use to prevent disease transmission in individuals who may already have HIV.

The most common side effects reported with Truvada were diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, headache and weight loss. Serious side effects were uncommon.

In May, a panel of expert advisers who make recommendations to the FDA voted to back Truvada's use for HIV prevention in healthy, high-risk individuals but the FDA was not bound to accept the panel's recommendation. The experts at the time questioned the drug's effectiveness for females, who have shown much lower rates of protection in the research.

Research showing Truvada may prevent HIV transmission first arose in 2010, when a government study found it cut infection risk in healthy gay and bisexual men by 42 percent, when accompanied by condoms and STD counseling. Another study found the pill may reduce HIV risk by 75 percent among heterosexual couples in which one partner is infected with the virus. Some doctors had already been prescribing Truvada off-label for HIV prevention.

Following the FDA advisory panel's initial recommendation in May, some HIV advocates hailed the announcement as "nearing a watershed moment in our fight against HIV."http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504763_162-57473116-10391704/truvada-approved-by-fda-as-first-hiv-prevention-pill/

Knowledge9000: My friend you don't expect them to post us a medical journal of the research with all the medical jargons in it. We don't have time for all that my friend and most of us wouldn't understand and have no interest in all that. If you are educated you would know that when you relay a scholarly information to a lame person, you do as much as you can to convey such message in a way that they will understand. If you want to see results of how placebo compares to the actual med, go to the medical journal sites.
I know that Nigerians love mediocrity. That's why you fell hook, line and sinker for this shoddy report. Instead of attacking the journalist who wrote the report, you are pointing your gun at me who tried to do some constructive criticism. Now I know why many Nigerians fell for Abalaka scam. All the reports of any new drug discovery contains some excerpt of its performance during clinical trial when compared with placebo and the mechanism of action of such drug. This is not a medical journal. I'm embarrassed by your comment. embarassed
HealthRe: Iwu, Others Breakthrough In HIV/AIDS Treatment by ACM10: 11:51am On Jan 05, 2013
I hate Nigerian medical journalists. I can't extract any useful medical information from this report.
I would want to know about the mechanism of action of the drug; how it performed in clinical trial when compared with placebo; etc.
The information they supplied is grossly insufficient.
