PoliticsRe: Tension In Enugu As Chime Fails To Return by ACM10: 7:18am On Jan 04, 2013
I had a discussion with my professional colleagues on the issue of Gov. Chime's health status yesterday. Two of them from Enugu clearly stated that Chime has liver related pathology(probably liver cirrhosis) from chronic alcohol consumption. They went further to say that his case is complicated by co-existing immunosuppressive disease; owing to his reckless sex indulgence after his bouts of alcohol consumption. I told them that what they said was what I've read online for sometime now. I hope that they are wrong. Gov. Chime is in trouble indeed if this turns out to be true. I love him personally and I wish him success as he battles for his health.

How many Okadas are in the SE states ?

How many Okadas are in Rivers state ?

How many Okadas are in Abuja ?

Now Lagos which is the most popular, populous, commercial city/state in Nigeria should house Okada which kill people every day ?

For the last time Igbos cannot even rule themselves not to talk of Yorubas in Lagos because they lack foresight. angry Don't vex me this new year with your gribbish. Just focus on your SE and leave SW to decided what is right or wrong for there citizens.

Simvastatin just like every other drugs has its side effect. They are abdominal pain, diarrhea, indigestion, and a general feeling of weakness, joint pain, memory loss, and muscle cramps. It can also cause Cholestatic hepatitis, hepatic cirrhosis, muscle-wasting conditions(rhabdomyolysis), etc. It is mostly used in combination with exercise and weight reduction. You may not experience any of these side effects. I will advise u to delay its use until after your exams.

You are a disgrace to your alumni! Where did you pull this bullcrap from? How did they get the components used in calculating the GDPs in the first place? You should have asked yourself if this statistics is reliable in the first place instead of subjecting yourself to ridicule. I will try to educate you a bit by showing you how GDP is calculated. I will leave you to determine the veracity of your figures.

The basic formula for calculating the GDP is:

Y = C + I + E + G

where

Y = GDP

C = Consumer Spending

I = Investment made by industry

E = Excess of Exports over Imports

G = Government Spending

This formula is almost self-evident (if you take time to think about it)!

GDP is a measure of all the goods and services produced domestically. Therefore, to calculate the GDP, one only needs to add together the various components of the economy that are a measure of all the goods and services produced.

Many of the goods and services produced are purchased by consumers. So, what consumers spend on them (C) is a measure of that component.
The next component is the somewhat mysterious quantity "I," or investment made by industry. However, this quantity is mysterious only because investment does not have its ordinary meaning. When calculating the GDP, investment does NOT mean what we normally think of in the case of individuals. It does not mean buying stocks and bonds or putting money in a savings account (S in the diagram). When calculating the GDP, investment means the purchases made by industry in new productive facilities, or, the process of "buying new capital and putting it to use" (Gambs, John, Economics and Man, 1968, p. 168). This includes, for example, buying a new truck, building a new factory, or purchasing new software. This is indicated in the diagram by an arrow pointing from one factory (enterprise) to another. In essence, it shows the factory "reproducing itself" by buying new goods and services that will produce still more new goods and services. NOTE: There is a money-flow relationship between personal savings, S, and investment, I, but this does not figure directly in calculating the GDP. See Exercise 3 below.

The next component is E, or the difference between the value of all exports and the value of all imports. If Exports exceeds imports, it adds to the GDP. If not, it subtracts from the GDP. Thus, even if a nation's people work very hard to produce products for exports, but still import more than they export, the nation's GDP will be negatively impacted. This is one of the reasons trade deficits are frequently a political target. Because the balance of trade can be either positive or negative, we can rewrite the equation, showing the components of E, using X for Exports and M for Imports:
Y = C + I + (X - M)+ G

You may see the formula for the GDP written this way, and it may be easier for you to remember in this format.

The final component is G. The government buys (with your tax money) goods and services (G). These purchases are a measure of those goods and services produced. Be aware that many people make the mistake of thinking that the money paid in taxes and spent by the government is "lost" and therefore subtracts from the GDP. Tax money may indeed be spent inefficiently but this fact has no bearing on the calculation of the GDP.
http://www.mindtools.net/GlobCourse/formula.shtml
Now, tell me how the writer of that BS managed to get the accurate figure of the following indices( Consumer Spending, Investment made by industry, Excess of Exports over Imports, Government Spending) in a country where majority of the businesses are informal and is under the government radar? huh

dayokanu: There you lie.

Below is the stats from Givernment on Unemployment and poverty

Check this stats from the government here. I can help you with some extract

Oyo state Poverty 51.8% Unemployment 8.9%
Osun State Poverty 37.9% Unemployment 3%
Ogun State Poverty 62.3% Unemployment 22.9%
Ondo State Poverty 45.7% Unemployment 12.5%
Ekiti State Poverty 52.4% Unemployment 12.1%
Lagos State Poverty 48.6% Unemployment 8.3%

Anambra State Poverty 56.8% Unemployment 12.1%
Enugu State Poverty 62.5% Unemployment 25.2%
Imo State Poverty 50.5% Unemployment 26.1%
Abia State Poverty 57.4% Unemployment 11.2%
Ebonyi State Poverty 73.6% Unemployment 23.1%

http://www.nigerianstat.gov.ng/information

Osun Oyo and Lagos State have Unemployment under 10 % and Only Ogun State have over 20%. No single Igbo state has Unemployment under 10% actually 3 of them have over 20%

In terms of Poverty Lagos, Osun and Ondo have Poverty under 50% , While No single Igbo state have Poverty under 50% Ebonyi has almost 3/4 of the people living in abject poverty
This is another laughable statistics. Are u a f00l in real life? I will do my best to educate you on how to calculate the unemployment rate.

1. To calculate the unemployment rate for a particular area or region, you will need to know the number of unemployed workers and the total number of people in the labor force in the particular area (such as a state or country). In the United States, this data is available from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Labor Force refers to the number of people of working age and below retirement age who are actively participating in the work force or are actively seeking employment. Note that the total population of the area or region is irrelevant when calculating the unemployment rate.

2. The formula for calculating the unemployment rate (expressed as a percent) is as follows:
Unemployment Rate = (Unemployed Workers / Total Labor Force) * 100

3. For example: A small country has a population of 15,000 people. Of the total population, 12,000 people are in the labor force and 11,500 people are employed. What is the unemployment rate? First, find the number of unemployed by subtracting the number of employed (11,500) from the labor force (12,000). So, 12,000-11,500=500. Therefore, 500 people are unemployed. Now, to find the unemployment rate, plug the numbers into the formula: Unemployment Rate = (500/12,000)*100 = 4.2 percent.
http://www.ehow.com/how_4621309_calculate-unemployment-rate.html
Then my last lecture for you is how to calculate the poverty rate

1. Calculate your entire household's pre-tax earnings and write this figure down. The U.S. Census Bureau reports that "the official poverty definition uses money income before taxes and does not include capital gains or non-cash benefits (such as public housing, Medicaid, and food stamps)."

2. Find the size of your family unit using the matrix. If you have children under 18 in the home, you must use the right side of the matrix to determine your poverty threshold index.

3. Compare the income listed on the matrix for your family with your actual pre-tax earnings as a household for the year. If your earnings were higher, even by $1, your household income would not be considered under the poverty level. If your household earnings fall below the listed threshold, your household income would be considered below the poverty level.
Either you are a dang f00l or u are a foreigner for u to believe that crap. There is no area in Nigeria in which the unemployment rate is 8.9%! Some people are insinuating that the actual average unemployment level in Nigeria is 60%.

The major cities of Anambra has UN Habitat master plan that is being gradually implemented in Onitsha, Nnewi and Awka. major high-ways are being reconstructed and remodeled, from Head Bridge to Awka end of the road. Awka is gradually being repositioned, I know all these because I live and work in the city. Things are seen happening in Anambra, investors are trooping to the state. How many people has come to your enugu state to invest even in pure-water business not to talk of $100 Million Dollar investment? Presently Awka has some of best hospitality industry even surpassing your enugu, even though its just about 20years old since creation. The fact is that Anambra is to the SE what lagos is to the SW and Rivers to the SS respectively. Its not chest-beating but mere facts.

Stevecares: Pls doctor, i need an advice on behalf of a elderly man. He is in pain. He complains of abdominal pains, experienced blood in urine, once. He also complained of not urinating normally some times. He was on self medication when i met him and had to stop him. He cried he has been to the hospital, but they did not give him the necessary care. Pls, what could be the cause of these symptoms, because am afraid it could be kidney or liver defect. He's been on self medication even before these problem
Your comment grabbed my attention. So I must give u an outright response.

In an elderly man who complains of abdominal pain(maybe flank pain), hematuria(blood in urine); there is only one diagnosis that I must consider first before others. That diagnosis is kidney cancer. In medicine, there is a triad for the diagnosis of kidney cancer. They are:

1. Flank pain

2. Abdominal mass

3. Hematuria.

These 3 symptoms must not be present in kidney cancer. Though they can also occur in kidney stones. But for the fact that he is an elderly patient makes kidney cancer topmost on my list of my differential diagnosis. I will advise that he visits a Teaching hospital to meet a urologist as soon as possible. Kidney diseases can be reversed if detected early. He's doing himself a major disservice by placing himself on self-medication.
