honeric01: Why not just provide your own estimated cost rather than argue with his own list? since you did it while in school, help the forum with your own list haba. huh
It depends on the location. Those expenses he left behind varies from one location to the other. They can be pretty substantial in some areas.
Well, I graduated from the university many years ago. Figures which I might put here may be wrong because it may have revised upwards.
BTW, I'm not arguing with him. I'm only trying to prompt him to factor in some expenses. What he put up was so straightforward, while it is much more complicated in reality.

I have a cyber cafe as we speak which i run out of interest and i concur with your ssubmission in whole : Its not a mean task most expecially employing someone to manage it for you couple with the complexities, power and low sales. I take solace in the fact that i used averagely the same amount it cost the whole cafe daily in subscription to re new my modem before i set up the cafe, so i assume i was still doing that while i make money from other visiting customers. Despite the enourmous challenges, With recent increased power supply, its getting very very interesting while i charge competitive prices to encourage customers ( N100 /hr ) while i sometimes offer 2hrs for N150 to beat the GSM providers to it..........It has really helped me stay in business.

I am into internet marketing to get extra cash while i have made life changing friends online based on sincerity that has brought me priceless local and international connections.......the guy who helps me in shipping cars in from the US now is a product of such internet connections ( STRICT SINCERITY AND HONESTY ).

I make it a point of duty to register myself and other members of the families yearly for the lottery FREE OF CHARGE, that i dont do when i use it privately, Funny enough several of my friends have won the DV lottery through this self help encouragement while 3 won this year and happily MY GOOD SELF.

It allows me to stay in tune with friends and families, watch movies, do several jobs i would have spend money on while i do all the maintainance jobs myself since i am vast in computer software and hardware maintainance.

Hopefully, i will be collapsing the business before i leave for the states instead of leaving it for anyone because they MIGHT not be able to manage it as much as i do.

For those who dont have my type of personal interest but solely for profit making, go for barbing to save yourself the hassles BUT REMEMBER THAT EVERY BUSINESS MAKES MORE MONEY WHEN YOU ARE NOT INTO IT.

REMEMBER : In whatever you do, put PASSION FIRST and the cash flow will come while you are ultimately fufilled by doing what you like.[/b]
I love your story. Sounds cool cool Yours is a success case. You are focused on your aim from the outset. Honesty and hardwork pays! I noticed that people who succeeds in business are those who derives fun in it.
If you remain this focused in US; I bet that u will blow in the shortest time interval. Some convert cybercafe to a nest of scammers. Ofcourse, they folds after few months. But it seems like u did otherwise. Keep it up!

PoliticsRe: What Has Nnewi Done Wrong, Your Excellency?: Open Letter To Governor Peter Obi by ACM10: 7:58am On Oct 24, 2012
I was at Nnewi 2 weeks ago. We entered the town in the night. There was no light and the whole town was dead dark. It seems like its residence have gotten tired of burning fuel in their generators. My friend came to pick me at the bus-stop. We had to swim through an untarred road to get to his house. I only witnessed the scale of the underdevelopment in the town the following day. In fact, Peter Obi administration had all but abandoned the town. I was amazed that the town has regressed in all development indices. I'm still in shock about the state of Nnewi roads and other infrastructures.
The preferred means of transport in the town is motorcycle making the town very noisy, rowdy and chaotic. The ratio of cars to motorcycles in the town is about 1 : 100. I sampled an opinion of one commercial motorcycle rider on what they will do if government bans "okada" business. He replied "government should provide jobs for us; the factories in Nnewi are closing down and moving to other location because of lack of infrastructures and security". Lo and behold! He told me the gospel truth. Innoson Group immediately came to my mind. I remember that Gov. Chime of Enugu state opened his arms wide and embraced him. He even encouraged him to convince other Nnewi enterpreneurs to relocate to Enugu. Other Nnewi enterpreneurs had since found a new home in Enugu. Such is the failure of Gov. Obi's administration.

PoliticsRe: Igbos Have Developed And Own 80% Of Lagos by ACM10: 10:02am On Oct 21, 2012
geeez: I see this statistics being brandished all over Nairaland by a few illusioned people. The Lagos State Government is a very transparent one and you can check through the records at the Lands Bureau. To even say they own or control 20% of Lagos will be a generous overstatement.

I want to ask where the Igbos were when the Western region with Ibadan as its capital was Nigeria's most progressive region. Even today, Yorubas still control the economy of Lagos. If you are objective enough, you can look through records at the Inland Revenue Service and decipher for yourself which companies pay the most taxes to the LASG and which people control them.

If truly you're as industrious as you claim, how come the SE is a poorly developed region? How come the GDP of Oyo State is higher than that of any south eastern state? I will admit that Igbos are the Lords of trading in Lagos but the question is, how much does trading as a business generate in these days of e-commerce with online banking making international trade more seamless than ever?

How is buying and selling an intellectual bragging right? Anyway like Prof. Achebe admitted, they are a bunch of arrogant, loud, conceited and I must add illusioned set of people. I've met some Igbo people that have proved otherwise but majority of the ones I come across are just an exact replica of these ones online.
I thought that you will furnish us with the official statistics and raw facts to back up your assertion; but you only succeeded in making claims based on your emotional state.

PoliticsRe: Abacha Regime Experimented With HIV Viruses Using Prisoners by ACM10: 10:28am On Oct 20, 2012
azpekuliar: Will you shut your filthy trap, you ethic bigot! angry

Abacha's henchmen at DMI were known to forcefully inject political prisoners with HIV, e.g the Late Maj. Gen. Shehu Yar Adua.
The more defence you put the more you expose your ignorance. The incubation period of HIV is 2 to 10yrs. HIV virus is not an enhanced anthrax which kills within a short period of time. By the way, no one uses a biological agent that has long incubation period to eliminate a political enemy. HIV carriers can live a healthy life if they sticks to their anti-retroviral therapy. Moreover, there is no hardcore evidence which showed that Abacha experimented with HIV virus on his political prisoners except the hearsay beer parlour gist. You should examine the se.xual behaviours of those men in question to unearth how they caught HIV.

PoliticsRe: Kofi Annan - Abiola's Death Was Suspicious. by ACM10: 9:11am On Oct 20, 2012
But he emphasised that
he would make no commitment in
writing. If he did so, he felt this
would destroy his reputation. But he
said he was willing to give the same
assurance to President Abubakar.
Abiola thought that he was smart. He erroneously thought that he could outsmart the junta headed by Abubakar. He wanted to renact the stunt which Awolowo pulled on Ojukwu. After giving a verbal assurance, he will claim that he gave those assurances under duress. He got what he deserved. A healer who made a lame man to walk can equally return him back to lame state. He became stupendously rich by courting each successive junta. Only to turn back to bite the finger that fed him.
I must confess that many Yorubas will try to play smart on you whenever the sees an opportunity. In all my interactions with the Yorubas, I've met only one Mr. Femi, a Yoruba moslem who is so sincere and straightforward to the core that he almost always keep his word.
The junta's death doctors are professionals in the way they liquidated Abiola without any trace of murder. Though I don't advocate murder of political prisoners, but I don't pity Abiola either. He had rankled many power bases in Nigeria that he deserved the treatment he got.
PoliticsRe: Abacha Regime Experimented With HIV Viruses Using Prisoners by ACM10: 8:48am On Oct 20, 2012
Promiscuity is high among the Yorubas. They should reflect on the personality of those claimants to unearth how they caught HIV. Abacha will be dumb to experiment HIV virus with high profile prisoners. This claim is simply incredible

Desola: Maybe, but it is stronger in the Biafran, hence you seeing all cast and crew's names of a supposed "Nigerian movie" being okoro names. Not only have they damaged the Nigerian image with drug peddling across the globe, they have also hijacked a once budding film industry and now tarnished our collective image globally. The ibo man doesn't do anything in half measures. If he would damage, he would go for it totally. Dem no dey carry last most especially in crime and anything substandard.
Should that be nepotism or meritocracy?
What do you say when you see Omotola Jolade, Olu Jacobs, etc? Producers and Marketers can put anyone as part of the cast and crew that can make their movie to sell. Tribalism or nepotism has nothing to do with that. Their decision is influenced by the power of the market. That's why you see Aki & Pawpaw, Genevieve Nnaji, Ramsey Noah, Peter Edochie, Segun Arinze, etc appearing in several movies in a year. Cos they they move the market favourably!
Christianity EtcRe: What Nollywood Tells Us About Nigeria by ACM10: 9:49am On Oct 19, 2012
Desola: Nollywood is the mirror image of the ibo man. It is not the true depiction of Nigerians but of Biafrans. Unfortunately, other Nigerians can't explain that to non-Nigerians as the power of the media is so strong and the okoro man has control of that.

You are so ignorant of the history of your religion and your bible that I don't know where to start. Do you know that Catholic church is the mother of every Christian religion? The bible you read and quote today was compiled by the catholic church.
You are possibly the most ignorant christian jingoist that I've come across. It's your likes who tells their followers to hope on God for a cure when they have medically curable diseases. Only to visit a hospital outside town when they have headache. I hope you don't take any drugs including vitamin c. Don't ever visit a hospital at any point in time in your life.
But pls keep your belief private and don't impose it on another person. Don't confuse passive followers of this thread with your misinformations.
