Bravo Nnenna! I love your maturity. Nigerians are hypocrites. I wonder why someone will want the country to remain united, while actively segregating some segments of its populace. I suspect that there is an underlying reason driving the repugnance which many Nigerians feel for Ndigbo. I wouldn't want to speculate. By the way, you will find the thread below helpful. Professor Charles Soludo addressed the same issue too.

ogugua88: I'll start with myself.

SHORT-TERM GOAL: Embark on a medical mission in Anambra. Every year, doctors residing in North America from Anambra do a medical mission during the summer of every year. I missed the deadline this year, so my goal is to go next year.

LONG-TERM GOAL: Finish my Health Science program, concentration in Community Health Education, and enter medical school. Obtain dual DO/MPH (Doctor of Osteopathy/Masters of Public Health, global health concentration) and practice here for a while, before returning to Nigeria to open two free clinics, one in Delta, another in Anambra, which will provide free basic health care and physicals.

Who's next?
Glad to know that u are in medical field! Pls can you visit the threads below to offer your medical advice? Some folks are in dire need of your help. This is the little that you can do to help Nigerians online.

aribisala0: My question was clear; has the government of Sudan backed the action against the incumbent President;OMAR?? How come there is a warrant out for his arrest??
The government does NOT need to back it and if it is justified to try Gowon and others so be it. I support it 100%. Let us see the evidence
What do you mean? You asked a dumb question? Who is the head of the govt of Sudan? Don't u know that many European countries are out to get Bashir? They will support any call to indict Bashir for war crime.

Rumin8: Sharing an experience is not attempting to mislead. That was my experience. Others have shared theirs. I am happy you believe I reserve the right to choose. You too should have. Just indicated your belief and perhaps tell us why. Not make a sweeping statement such as the one you made, declaring people who believe in ghosts mentally unfit.
You are misquoting me. "Mentally unfit" is another term altogether. My comment did not implicitely or explicitly refer to such experience with that language. Maybe you misunderstood me.

Rumin8: My point is, you can't infer that everyone who believes in ghosts suffer from any of the medical conditions you listed. Are you an expert on the subject? What is your declaration based on? On a clinical study?
Since you are science-inclined, I will like to know your field. Can you quote any science literature to support the existence of ghosts? You can't tell me that no one has done any work on it; since the claim had been around for thousands of years. By the way, do you know that "hallucination" is a symptom associated with the transient or permanent brain disorder?

Rumin8: ^^ Hi Doc ACM10, you're not supposed to swallow it if it don't taste right. I have a strong scientific background and don't readily accept the whole paranormal phenomena but my experience gave me a different viewpoint to these subjects. So again, I believe ghosts exist. You don't, so that makes it even. Now you will not get a straitjacket and lock up me up in a padded room, will you?
You are free to believe any tale which tickles your fancy. It's a free world. You reserve the right to choose. But it's unfair to mislead people with such tales.

Rumin8: Well, as unlikely as some people think ghosts are, they exist because until I saw one, I was heavily sceptical just like you guys are.

Couple of years ago, I travelled home to deliver some items to my granny. I was supposed to spend a week but found the family home slightly uncomfortable so after two nights, I decided to move to the home of a cousin who lived apart.

My cousin, it should be pointed, lived behind the only cemetery in the town. Not that that was an odd thing because a lot of folks lived there and didn't care at all about the sights of gravestones just behind their window. Anyone who is familiar with Bonny Island in Rivers State will know the cemetery and the community of Orosikiri behind it.

So, after spending the day with my old lady, I had a late dinner and set out to meet the cousin. I took a bike and pulled up at the stop between the Shell or Mobil yard around a roundabout, then walked the 100 metres to the point where I'd have to walk through the graveyard before making an exit.

It was pretty dark but I wasn't worried because I'd gone through that path severally in the past but after three, four steps inside the cemetery, I saw a figure approaching me.

It wasn't unusual to meet people walking through so I didn't give an extra thought to the figure of a man walking strangely towards me, but suddenly I had goose bumps all over and became extremely light headed. I peered closely at the 'man' and saw a face I'd never forget. It looked truly bizarre. And then it dawned on me, that what was coming towards me was no man, but a ghost.

To my astonishment, I couldn't turn and run, even though my whole body was screaming for me to get away from the object. I could also not make sound. Everything was just surreal. My head continued to swell and I became afraid that I was going to die there.

Eventually, it reached me. It stared at me for a while, with eyes that were just black holes and walked past with a loud hiss. There was a sudden coldness as it remained near me but as it went away, the night became humid again. I remember regaining control of myself and turned to watch it go, still walking/floating away. Everything must have taken 30 seconds to a minute but it felt like forever. I then ran quickly to my cousin's place and told him what I saw.

He said a chief was buried there recently and a neighbour had complained seeing a man at her kitchen door twice.

I left Bonny the next day and returned to Port Harcourt. Shared the experience with a friend who advised me to go to church, but I dismissed the idea. I had a few nightmares after the incident but have pushed the whole thing to a quiet corner of my mind, but seeing this topic brought back everything.
Do you sincerely believe that we will swallow your mumbo jumbo story? undecided

nanotechy: I don't get it! Why can't these old people who have little to loose tell the truth for once? awolowo and a group of nlders said biafran soldiers diverted the food meant for civilians but here gowon agrees that food wasn't made available because 'igbos objected to the creation of corridor for movements of medical aid and food to the civilian population' wtf is wrong with these old people? Who's telln the lie here? We won't benefit from gowon's journey to the hague but they should stop adding salt to injury by continuously standing truth on its head. Smh!
One day, someone will blame the Biafrans for refusing to accept food aids.

NO! I've never seen a ghost.
Nobody will ever see a ghost. It only exist in our imagination. Anyone who claims to have seen a ghost must have had a visual hallucination. That person was either hypoglycaemic, hyperglycaemic, high on recreational drugs or has mental disorder.

PoliticsRe: Dr. Nwaezeigwe Defends Awolowo On Achebe’s Civil War Memoir by ACM10:
He made some very interesting contributions. But it will be unfair to review a book without reading it.
He has to understand that an average Onyeigbo do not consider Yorubas as enemies. Our grouse is with the conduct of Awolowo during and after the war.
The inference that Yoruba
had thrown a much stronger
loyal support to the
leadership of Nnamdi
Azikiwe than the Igbo ever
exhibited toward Chief
Obafemi Awolowo is a complete balderdash! It is true that NCNC were able to win some seats in the western region in 1952 election, but Yoruba support for Zik did not go beyond that. Remember that AG won some seats in the east too. Beyond Awo/Zik, Ndigbo have thrown their support behind Yorubas on countless occasions; Abiola, Obasanjo, etc. By the way, Awolowo and other Yoruba politicians often use an unflattering terms to describe Zik and Ndigbo. Read some of Awolowo's books or watch Akintola's video on youtube.

There are some rogue characters in Nigeria and Biafra during the civil war. So there is no doubt that some people engaged in activities which were inimical to the war effort. Singling out Biafrans is rather unfair.

On the other hand, Ironsi misread the mood of the northerners especially their elites. He did not envisage that situation will degenerate to 2nd coup de etat or pogrom. He kicked against all the advice from senior officers of the coup in the making. To demonstrate his detribalized nature, he surrounded himself with officers of northern origin.
When the mood of Nigerians were low, he embarked on "apology tour" trying to please the northerners who showed an outward contempt for his leadership. Releasing Awolowo who was a convicted felon during the regime of the deposed government headed by a northerner will be counterproductive to his "appease the north" effort. Ojukwu cannot release Awolowo either without an express permision from Ironsi.

There is no doubt that the true enemy of Ndigbo are Hausa/Fulani oligarchy. But they cannot do much if Yoruba withdraws their support for them.

The fact remains that Ndigbo and Yorubas are rivals; and Yorubas tends to exploit Hausa/Fulani-Igbo feuds to hurt us.

Yorubas made a feeble attempt to secede. But they could not do much since there was an intimidating presence of northern troops all over the western region.

I don't know Dr. Nwaezeigwe personally. Though he strikes me as an interesting character. But I'm disappointed with some of his assessment. Though some are logical from the revisionists point of view. I agree with him that Ndigbo and Yoruba should forge a common front which will be based on magnifying our common grounds and minimizing our point of differences. But he should consult his history books on where such mindless unity led us to in the past.

honeric01: Kindly give us your own rough estimate (sample test)
During my undergraduate years(2004), I opened a game house somewhere around my school. Here are the rough estimate of what I spent:

3 PS2 video game - N35000 X 3 = N105,000

10 Game pads - N2,000 each = N20,000

3 21' TV(faily used) - N17,000 each = N51,000

Fan - N3,000

5 Game plates - N300 each = N1500

8 Plastic seats - N700 each = N5,400

Iron protector for Televisions and Video games - can't remember

Generator - N28,000

Renting of space - N30,000

Agreement & Legal fee - N10,000

Agent's fee - N10,000

Settlement of the Youths in the area - N8,000

Police settlement - N30,000 per year

Security - N500 per month

Sanitation fee - N8,000 per year

NEPA bill - N1,800 per month

Container - N80,000

etc etc

I sold the shop to a friend midway into my programme because it was interfering with my academic activities. Moreover, myriads of levies from government agencies or government sanctioned agencies were cutting deep into my take home profit. On the other hand, my video game lenses do develop problem from time to time necessitating its replacement. The cost of its replacement no be moi moi. I hope that my sketchy estimate will be adequate enough.
