THE RIGHT COMPANY: A PATHWAY TO EXCELLENCE

The kind of people you choose to be around you automatically determines the kind of life you have chosen to live.

SCRIPTURE: Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. Proverbs 27:17.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: To arrive at excellence, quality association is necessary.

Previously, we saw three pathways to excellence and prominence. We saw that to be excellent in life, one must make the right decision, pay attention to details and possess quality information.

Today, I want to add that another pathway to prominence in life is keeping the right company.

It is very important to know that the kind of company you keep determines the level of quality you will experience in life. There are quality people whose destinies have been corrupted by the wrong company. Also, there are people whose destinies were corrected by associating with the right company. Your choice of friends, automatically defines your choice of destiny. The kind of people you choose to be around you automatically determines the kind of life you have chosen to live.

Your association determines your destination; your association also affects your distinction. You can’t keep the company of vultures and expect to soar like the eagle. As fire begets fire, iron sharpens iron, and excellence begets excellence. Company defines quality. If you show me a person close to you, I will show you the quality of person you are. Company determines quality. Lions don’t move with hyenas; Eagles don’t move with vultures because quality provokes quality.

Your friends affect your future; your choice of company determines your choice of quality.

Beloved, to arrive at excellence, quality association is necessary.

If you manage people, they would damage you; so association is not for management, association is for advancement.

Remember this: To arrive at excellence, quality association is necessary.

KNOWING WHO YOU ARE

One of the greatest limitations of life is the ignorance of who you are.

SCRIPTURE: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: One of the greatest limitations of life is the ignorance of who you are.

Sometime ago, I heard a story of an American shepherd: A cub (young lion) was found by the shepherd. The shepherd carried it and nurtured it among the sheepfold. The cub grew up and thought it was a sheep, so, it began to eat grass and move along with the sheep. So, the cub became a de-lionized sheep or sheepified lion.

Once in a while, a big lion would come to the sheepfold to pursue the sheep. And while the sheep would be running for their lives, the cub that grew in the midst of the sheep would also run from the bigger lion.

One day, the cub saw its face in the water and discovered that it looked exactly like the big lion that always came to chase them away along with the sheep.

On another occasion, the big lion came again and began to pursue the sheep as usual. While the sheep ran away, the cub (de-lionized sheep) refused to run from the big lion. The big lion began to play with the cub and discovered that it looked like itself. Eventually, the big lion moved with the cub from the sheepfold to the company of other lions to be trained on how to roar and tear flesh.

The lesson here is, one of the greatest limitations of life is the ignorance of who you are. This cub would have died as a sheep with the potential of a lion, if not that it discovered itself and was rescued by the bigger lion.

Therefore, make up your mind to know who you are.

Remember this: One of the greatest limitations of life is the ignorance of who you are.

SLOTHFULNESS – THE PATHWAY TO DEGRADATION

11 January 2021 Share:

You are not designed by God to exist for fashion; rather, you are designed to function. Anywhere life is not functional, it becomes dysfunctional, and it will acquire afflictions.

SCRIPTURE: Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Romans 12:11

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The way of slothfulness is the way of systemic degradation. Systems are degraded where slothfulness is allowed.

It has been confirmed that the way of slothfulness is the way of systemic degradation. Systems are degraded where slothfulness is allowed.

There is an animal called the sloth. Sloths are medium-sized mammals that live in the central and South American rainforests. The sloth got its name from its slow movement. The sloth is the slowest mammal on Earth. It hangs on trees upside down because it is too tired to lie normally. It is very slothful and sloppy. ‘Sloth’ is the root word in the word ‘slothfulness’.

This animal sleeps fifteen hours a day; it has a tiny tail, big eyes and eats fruits and leaves of various types. Sloths cannot walk. If they are to move at all, they are extremely slow. Due to the slothfulness of sloths, fungi grow on their bodies. Green algae grow on their hairs. This is because they are too tired to drive or prevent the growth of unwanted organism on their bodies. This confirms the statement that slothfulness is the way to systemic degradation. Lethargy is the death of energy.

Beloved, the human body is designed by God to be active and not idle. God designed the body to be functional and not fashional. This means, you are not designed by God to exist for fashion; rather, you are designed to function. Anywhere life is not functional, it becomes dysfunctional, and it will acquire afflictions. Therefore, avoid the way of slothfulness.

Remember this: The way of slothfulness is the way of systemic degradation. Systems are degraded where slothfulness is allowed.

DECISION: A KEY TO DISTINCTION

08 January 2021

The right decision is a major pathway to excellence. It takes the right decision to arrive at the right destination.

SCRIPTURE: But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. Daniel 1:8

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Decision determines destination and life delivers according to demands.

Earlier, we saw that there is a responsibility to take in order to see possibilities in life. To stand out in life like Daniel, there is a road to follow.

Today, we shall look at one pathway to living an excellent life, and that is: Decision (or the right decision).

The right decision is a major pathway to excellence. It takes the right decision to arrive at the right destination. Decision is the foundation for distinction. Nobody can be outstanding without a choice; excellence is never a product of chance. A decision for quality equals a destination of quality. To follow the road of right decision is to end at the place of excellence.

For example, no one graduates as a first class candidate by accident. No one can say, “I don’t know what I did but I got a first class degree”. No! It is not true. To graduate with a first class degree, you would have to make the decision first and then you begin to work at it.

Beloved, you are doing nothing about your destination until you do something about your decision. Excellence is ignited by making the right choices; mediocrity on the other hand is a product of the wrong choices. What you choose in life determines what you have; where there is no demand, there is no delivery; what we demand determines what we realize. Your choices determine your chances in life. You cannot excel without a choice and you cannot experience distinction without your participation.

Decision determines destination and life delivers according to demands.

Remember this: Decision determines destination and life delivers according to demands.

MAKE SENSE ON TIME

Beloved, opportunity is universal, but success is not universal. So, every time you have the stage, make sense on time because the stage is not yours forever; there are others on queue warming up to make sense.

SCRIPTURE: To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: Ecclesiastes 3:1

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Every time you have the stage, make sense on time because the stage is not yours forever.

Opportunity, according to Oxford Dictionary is a time or a set of circumstances that makes it possible to do something. Effective management of opportunities is very critical to success in life and destiny. How people end up in life is determined by how they manage the opportunities of their lives.

When I was in the Medical School, I was made the president of the Christian Medical Students Fellowship of my university. There was a time we went for the Christian Medical Students National Conference at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital. People from different universities across the country gathered, and some persons were appointed to anchor different items on the program schedule; by privilege, I was asked to lead a five-minute segment of prayer. And within those five minutes, there was an eruption. The impact was tangible and undeniable.

So when it was time to elect the national president, they almost unanimously pointed to the direction of the man who brought fire in five minutes; they made me the national president of the fellowship. Thus I became national president, and I was travelling across the country, preaching to medical students, and that experience was very foundational for my life and ministry.

Beloved, opportunity is universal, but success is not universal. So, every time you have the stage, make sense on time because the stage is not yours forever; there are others on queue warming up to make sense. To be an opportunity waster is to be a destiny waster.

Remember this: Every time you have the stage, make sense on time because the stage is not yours forever.

THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR EXCELLENCE

06 January 2021 Share:

There can be no possibility without responsibility. Nothing can be glorious in life until someone is serious.

SCRIPTURE: Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: There can be no possibility without responsibility.

In life, possibility answers to responsibility. There can be no possibility without responsibility. Nothing can be glorious in life until someone is serious.

In the same manner, it takes responsibility to arrive at excellence. In order to be a person of excellence in your generation like Daniel, you must accept responsibility like Daniel. It takes responsibility to stand out for God in your generation.

This is necessary because the road you follow determines the place you end; and to follow the right road is to end at the right place. You cannot follow the wrong road and end at the right place. This means, to arrive at the place of excellence in life, there is a road or pathway to follow.

God’s servant, Bishop David Oyedepo once said, “For every rise, there is a price”. It is not possible to rise as a star in the kingdom of God without a price. For every product, there is a process. Nobody rises anywhere by chance; people rise by paying the price.

It is very important to know this because many people wish to stand out in life but they are not ready to accept the responsibility to be excellent. Refusal to accept responsibility is one reason why many people are where they are in life. If you know what to do and you are ready to accept the responsibility, you will move from where you are to where you want to be.

My counsel is, make up your mind to accept the responsibility for excellence this year so you can stand out in life.

Remember this: There can be no possibility without responsibility.

sincerity and the anointing

Sincerity increases grace; deception or crookedness destroys the anointing and you need the anointing to fulfil your destiny.

SCRIPTURE: Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen. Ephesians 6:24.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Sincerity increases grace; deception or crookedness destroys the anointing and you need the anointing to fulfil your destiny.

Many years ago, someone invited me to join two people in marriage but the lady was already three months pregnant, and I didn’t know. Now, this was before pregnancy testing before marriage officiating became mandatory. And this was also in another ministry. That man literally began a new journey on the foundation of disaster. The pregnancy was hiding inside her wedding gown. You know, there are people whose three months’ pregnancy would look as if they are not pregnant at all.

So, I went to join them and after six months, the lady gave birth. When I heard that she had given birth, I asked them, Was it a premature birth? They answered, “No sir. We are sorry sir.” What! Then I asked them, “You invited me to officiate a wedding in which the bride was already three months pregnant? But I asked you to say any reason why you may not be joined together? And you said that there was no reason. This is very terrible!”

Beloved, it does not matter the gravity of a lie; all liars, including those who lied to pastors at the point of joining them in marriage, shall have their part in the lake of fire (Revelation 21:

The reason why Saul was not pardoned was because he never opened up to God. However, despite all the atrocities David committed, when God confronted him, he confessed and opened up to Him instantly.

Beloved, sincerity increases grace (Ephesians 6:24). Honesty brings grace; deception or crookedness destroys the anointing and you need the anointing to fulfil your destiny.

Refuse to allow lies ruin your life.

Remember this: Sincerity increases grace; deception or crookedness destroys the anointing, and you need the anointing to fulfil your destiny.

THE MYSTERY OF THE BIRTH OF CHRIST

The birth of Jesus defied and bypassed natural order; it suspended the protocol of nature to achieve Kingdom purpose.

SCRIPTURE: …she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS. Matthew 1:25

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The birth of Jesus defied and bypassed natural order; it suspended the protocol of nature to achieve Kingdom purpose.

I wish you a merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year in advance!

We thank God for the Gift of His only begotten Son who was born and died for us (John 3:16). Today marks the anniversary of the birth of Jesus Christ which is called Christmas.

Christmas is what many people celebrate, yet many don’t know what it really is or the essence of it.

So, the question is: what is Christmas?

Christmas is the annual commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ by His followers called Christians all over the world.

The Scripture makes it clear in the Book of Matthew Chapters 1 and 2 that the birth of our Master Jesus, the Saviour of the world, was not a normal birth as it defied and bypassed natural orders and protocols (Matthew 1:1-18).

Now, we shall look at some of the mysteries that surrounded the birth of Jesus Christ.

1. The mystery of unnatural conception: This is a conception that happens without the meeting of a man and a woman (Matthew 1:18). The birth of Jesus defied and bypassed natural order; it suspended the protocol of nature to achieve kingdom purpose.

2. The mystery of incarnation: This is not reincarnation but incarnation. It is the mystery of God becoming man (John 1:14).

3. The birth of Christ was the mystery that changed the order of history and the arrangement of calendar. Everything that happened before Christ was born is dated BC and everything that happened subsequently is dated A.D.

4. The mystery of Jesus’ birth had great impact on nature and creation. It was the star that announced and recorded His birth (Matthew 2:2).

Christmas, the birth of Jesus has, therefore, come to break every natural and unnatural barrier to the fulfillment of God’s purpose and agenda for your life.

On this special day, I prophesy to you the impartation of all that the birth of Jesus has to offer. The end of every frustrating situation in your life has come, in Jesus’ Name.

REMEMBER THIS: The birth of Jesus defied and bypassed natural order; it suspended the protocol of nature to achieve Kingdom purpose.

STEWARDSHIP ACCOUNTABILITY BEFORE GOD

CLICK HERE TO READ MORE Seeds of destiny & other daily devotional here

By DIGC 22 December 2020 Share:

Leaders, including public leaders, owe a duty of accountability before God, and must give an account of their stewardship on the last day.

SCRIPTURE: Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. 1 Corinthians 4:1.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: One reason why some leaders misbehave while in office is that they are not conscious of their accountability before God.

Every single person owes a duty of accountability before God on the last day. And leaders, including public leaders, also owe a duty of accountability before God, and must give an account of their stewardship on the last day. So, as a leader, you will give an account of your stewardship before God (Romans 14:12).

Now, one reason why some leaders misbehave while in office is that they are not conscious of their accountability before God. It is the lack of accountability consciousness that makes some leaders to embezzle public funds and empty the treasury.

God will require of everyone, including every leader alike, the duty of accountability on the last day. For instance, as a local government chairman or a leader in the local government council, you will give an account of your leadership to God. When you maltreat people under you; engage in kidnapping, ritual killing and shedding of innocent blood to keep your position, you will give an account before the God who cannot be bribed.

As a governor or a leader in a state, you will give an account of your governance before God. You will give an account of how you spent the money belonging to your state government.

Are you a president of a nation or a holder of a key public office? You will give an account of how you utilized and managed the resources committed into your hands. You will give an account of how you took care of or maltreated the people that God put under your care. When you embezzle government’s fund and misrule the people, you will give an account. When you loot the treasury and allow people to wallow in poverty, hunger and suffering while you enrich yourself at the expense of their welfare, you will give an account to God who is the Consuming Fire, on the last day.

Beloved, it is good to be aware of this so you can lead and serve well as a public officer.

Remember this: One reason why some leaders misbehave while in office is that they are not conscious of their accountability before God.
